      We booked 2 rooms, but the 2 rooms are not in the same building. Actually the distance between the 2 rooms is very far, more than 2 miles. Finally we (4 persons) stayed in one room. Anyway, this room at 2nd floor is very nice. The room is very large, clean.

      The house is clean and has character. It is right outside the Volcano National Park. There are 3 restaurants and a small store nearby. Since it was rainy and around 50 degrees F when we were there, it would have been nice to have a space heater; however, there were several blankets on the beds, which made the night warm enough.

      Shannon and Danny were great hosts. They treated us like family. The lodge is in a beautiful location, very isolated and lush. The room was comfortable, a bit musty, but with a homey charm. The breakfast included home made banana bread and jam. We enjoyed the hot tub and personal tour of the lava tube on site. We would certainly make a point of returning to the Aloha Lodge the next time we are in Hawaii.

    Conveniently located across Hilo Bay and only minutes from breathtaking waterfalls, this hotel is surrounded by a freshwater pond filled with fish. It is a short drive to Hawaii's Volcano National Park.

    Hotel Features.
    Hilo Seaside Hotel features a lush tropical courtyard setting and manicured grounds. This seaside hotel offers an outdoor pool, free parking (limited availability), a 24-hour front desk, and 400 square feet of meeting space. Luggage storage is provided. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas (surcharge) and there is a computer station.

    The three-story building does not feature an elevator.

    Guestrooms.
    There are 135 spacious guestrooms spread out in four wings. Each guestroom is decorated in ocean blue features and comes with a tropical ceiling fan and a private lanai.     Nice place for the money, close to the airport. I had read on previous reviews that this place was dirty and had bugs, I think that people just like to... complain. We had a good experience at this hotel and will stay again, Great place for the money!!!     The night staff was beyond what we could expect. We arrived later and had requested cribs and a spare bed. They were not there but the two ladies at the desk went on a quest to locate them in a very friendly manner. Thanks again. The morning staff was just as helpful. Great place to stay.

    Close to many things on Wikiki. The beach, restaurants and lots of stores are within close range. The parking was terrible. We weren't the only ones struggling to fit a mini van into a smart-car-sized parking space! The Parking was difficult to find in the first place, located under the hotel.     The hotel has a very tropical feel and is very close to beaches, restaurants, shops, etc. Its location outside of the downtown area keeps it quiet. The rooms were very comfortable and include refrigerators. This is a great place to stay to have access to all if Hill at an affordable price.

    It's very old hotel.They said that it was free upgrade but room did not say that.location is good.If you are checking in late night then it's hard to find parking spot.Room is very small.But we stayed there for 2 nights.

    The hotel is definately dated, time seems to have stopped right around the late 70s as far as furnishings and decor are concerned. But, the beds were comfortable, the shower adequate, the food o.k. Location-wise it's pretty good, the "seaside" is across the street, surrounded by a sidewalk.     This place is an old DUMP!. The place is very old, not updated at all, wood rotting all over the place and the room stinks like mold. My wife went down to the restaurant to ask for cream for her coffee and they charged her .25 cents for the cream. You can only print your boarding passes from the lobby business center printers and nothing else. Also, […] the in-room internet is $8.95 per day, parking was terrible and the back of the hotel is up against a car junkyard. This place was pathetic and by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.     I stayed one night fr work. The hotel is in much better shape than it use to be. The room was clean and the best part it did'nt smell like mold.

    The Hotel was built in the 1950s and is fairly well maintained. The adjoining restaurant was the only real downside. The food was good... the service in the morning was terrible with the exception of one server... Ask for Starr if you want fast friendly service.

    Our flight was in the morning and we only stayed here for a night after coming back from Kona. It's close to the other hotels, but it's closer to the main roads. Parking is horrible. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you're only here for a short night and on a budget.

    I have stayed at the Seaside several times and found it to be clean and friendly, if modest in appearance. Last week I was placed in the Hukilau wing (at the far back of the property) for the first time. Although I needed wireless internet in my room to complete a business project, reception was so bad that I was unable to connect. Also, the back windows […] of my room were mere feet away from a large metal Quonset hut that served as the church next door. They were holding a very loud, amplified service with preaching and music that lasted until 9:30 pm. I was forced to bring my PC and papers down to the lobby (although it wasn't much quieter there) and use the free wireless internet to finish my work.     This place was a great place to stay in Hilo. Being that its one of the least expensive its near all that you need and they are up front with you knowing that its older and they choose to keep it that way. But we were there to see the Island not to hotel so it worked great for us!

    Was ok. Old hotel but at least it had a T.V. and clean bathroom. Would of been about a 65 dollar hotel on the mainland but was 110 dollars a night. But we live on the Big Island so know that Hawaii is expensive. Hotel was right next to ocean and close to the airport.

    I prefer a room with a comfortable reading chair for watching TV and reading. Everyone was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Resturant was convient and the food was good. The location was only ok. Car is necessary.

    Staff was very nice. Place was clean. Hotel built before modern standards, like doors wide enough to carry a bag through. WIFI was extra. Many steps, all rooms are up or down several steps with no elevator.

    I am rating this hotel at a 5 because it was more like being at home. Everyone was friendly, happy and the hotel itself has a homey appeal. If you are looking for white sand beaches, etc, then you wouldn't be in Hilo anyway. The koi pond outside your door every morning was heavenly. Very relaxing stay.

    I was grateful to have found a vacancy during the high season, buut it was disappointing. The room was much smaller than expected. They were extra charges to have kids in the room with us, but the room is really too small for 4 people. There was almost no storage - no closet, the desk and bed side table dis not even have shelves. Just a small chest […] of drawers. There was free internet, but you had to sit in the lobby to access. It would be $8.95 per device per day from the room. We got an "ocean view" room, but the view was across a street to the back-waters - not what one would usually expect as ocean view. The hotel is also located very very close to the airport, in a rather run-down area. The free breakfast was quite bad, at best. Some of the staff was friendly, the others not so much. It was surprising that being in a tourist area, it had not informational brochures or help with local dining, shopping, or activities. Use this hotel only if you are on a very tight budget or have no other option for a day or two. Read more
