While the location is convenient particularly as regards Lincoln Center, the hotel is run down and not very clean despite having been refurbished. Paper cups in the room, the air conditioner malfunctioned two out of five days, the carpet in the room was dirty,flaking paint etc. Bottles of water were offered in the room at $8 each and a coffee you make in the room will cost you $3. On the positive side the staff were friendly and courteous. Ed's Chowder House, an independently run restaurant attached to the hotel, was very good and reasonably priced. The food is fresh, imaginative and as one would expect seafood oriented.

Excellent location next to Lincoln Center near Columbus Circle. Was there in Feb. for one night. Nice room but it was unbelievably hot. Windows sealed. Even the fridge was broken. No cold drinks. Had to drink tap water (which was quite good). Couldn't sleep. Should have complained but not worth the hassle for one night. Next time will check temp. before unpacking.

Great Location! One shower was very uncomfortably cold and the next day, there was absolutely NO HOT WATER in the entire hotel. Nice ambience and friendly staff. I would rather have a fridge option than the bar fridge stuffed with drinks and snacks I did not want. I would stay there again.

The staff was very nice and helpful. However, the hotel rooms and hallways were hideous. The carpets look dirty and the bathrooms disgusting and very very small. Wonder how they even passed inspection. The location is great but only in New York will a hotel get away with such rooms.

This hotel is in need of renovation. The front desk granite counter is chipped, rugs are tattered throughout the hotel. For the price of the room free in room coffee should be included. There was a coffee maker but no cream or sugar, and a price tag of $3.00 per cup. Very tacky.

Everyone was super friendly, helpful and very personalble. Pool was small, but ombiance, view and bar staff were exceptional. Club/lounge wasn't the best, but everything else overall was awesome. We will definitely stay again, just not on the 11th floor under the longe. Consierge was outstanding!!! Parking was rough, but we were lucky to find a spot on the street for free after paying a garage and driving around when our hour and a half was over. Everything close by was awesome!

Problem with smell in room….moved that night with help of Michael the manager who was excellent. But new room only available one night because it was part of block rooms for my week. So next day Michael had staff moved me to a good room. They did a good job Some rooms had no drawers and the shower doors were half the length of the shower so water got all over the floor.

We had a wonderful time at Empire Hotel. It was a great location. However the hotel room with "courtyard view" was a brick wall. I didn't know that's what that meant. Also, bed was missing the cover sheet. But, we're simple people and had a great time anyway.

Our room had hair from prior guests throughout, water damage, and smelled like mildew since the showers lack a door. The man at the front desk neglected to have our requests for new towels and toilet paper. At 3am someone employed at the hotel tried to come into our room, thank goodness the dead bolt was locked. The same front desk man made excuses for what happened rather than apologize. The bellhops, valet and housekeeping employees where the only wonderful part of our stay.

The Empire is a nice convenient hotel in a good neighborhood. The staff was good but the room was a little worn and the temperature could not be controlled. The hallways and rooms were very warm and no matter how low I put the AC it could not cool the room. Very uncomfortable. My wife actually came home sick with a cold which I could attribute to some bad air in room 1137.

Furnishings and services were great. Room was comfortable. The building is older so the elevators are really slow and the rooms are small. They charge for everything as well. $8 Evian on the night stand, $4 for use of the coffee maker, mini bar, etc.. For almost $400 I would rather stay a few blocks away at a hotel with more amenities.

This hotel is a pretender. It should rate no better than 2 star. The "junior king suite" was just a somewhat larger room, the Wi-Fi was awful and the continental breakfast was not much better. Continental breakfast was served outside, even though it was raining, and the pool deck, where it was served was accessed up a fire escape.

I would start off by complementing the valet guys, they suggested parking in a nearby garage which was $40 for 24hr parking instead of the $70 24hr parking offered by the hotel. It was great because it was in an indoor garage and only a street over from the hotel. When I walked in to check in, the front desk staff did not smile or ask for any further accommodations. However, I figured that's the kind of service you would get from a 3 star hotel. When I walked into the room, it was like walking into a dorm room. There was just enough room to walk around the bed and the view was not that pleasing unless if you're into brick walls and air conditioning units. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom consisted of a toilet right next to a sink and a shower that did not have a door so I recommend you put a towel on the floor so you don't slip. All in all I would give this place a 3 out of 5 score. A bit steep for what you get, but again remember you are near central park and lots of shops nearby which is ideal for day time shopping/activities.

Business Meetings at Fordham Lincoln Center - what can be more convenient! Great location. Rooms are small but spotless. Pool area on roof is perfect for reading, and a swim before/after work. Would be nice if they could squeeze a comfortable chair in my room, and better lighting would be great.

I love to be around Lincoln Center since I see ABT perform at the Med during their season. The staff has always been very helpful and very professional. The room I stayed in Rm 923, could really be freshened up especially the bathroom. Fresh paint, new tiles and BTW the sink may look cool but it's not. I love the fact that Ed's Chowder House is right within the hotel. Very convenient and wonderful.

Dirty small hotel rooms. Stained headboards, curtains, walls, and peeling wall paper. Mildew in bathrooms as well. Requested an upgrade and the upgraded room had stained curtains, mildew in the bathroom, and peeling wallpaper. Entire floor and hallway smelled like a dirty Las Vegas hotel. Canceled our stay from four nights to one night. We went to The Westin New York Times square for a cheaper and larger room. This also was a better location and extremely clean rooms.

The room was plenty big - but the bathroom was so small that there was absolutely no where to put anything - no counter at all and the sink was so shallow that whenever we turned on the water we got soaked with the splash back. The AC did not work, and when we complained we got no service. The bar was a nice place to meet and chat. And the location could not have been better!

I arrived just after check in time and was greeted by a male employee at the counter. He did not smile once, did not ask how I was or make any type of conversation. When he finally checked me, in he handed me my room cards and paper and said "Thank you". So I said "All set?" He looked at me and said "yes you're all set". Did not point me to the elevators, tell me which floor or room I was in or make me aware of any amenities. I arrived to the room and was surprised by how dusty the fixtures were. As if the maid service superficially clean. The holder for the toilet paper was caked with dust as well as all light fixtures and top of mini fridge. There was no control panel for the ac. The wall paper was peeling from various spots and the ac control panel was hanging on by a hinge. There were spots on the doors that looked as though they were punched. A hotel that was featured in a very popular show as "Gossip Girl" and for the price per night, would have been more clean and friendlier. The wifi is not free as offered by other hotels.bAt one point a guest and I were heading towards the lobby in a elevator when we were brought to a floor, not sure which as the digital display does not work in each elevator, and it was all construction on the floor. We were stuck there for a minute wondering why we were brought here. When checking out, the young lady was friendly and greeted with a smile and the gentlemen outside helped me grab a cab for the airport.

Our stay was great, I knew the room would be very small but I thought it would have been kept in better shape. A lot of the paint was peeling and the floor in the bathroom was buckling because when you take a shower in there the water goes everywhere. However, the ambiance of the hotel was really nice and so was the staff.

We heard that the rooms were very small, so we upgraded to a deluxe room. Disappointed that there was no place to put our clothes and we had to live out of our suitcase. It would be helpful if there was a dresser under the TV instead of a glass desk. Also it would be helpful if the refrigerator was placed somewhere other than the closet so we could hang our clothes! We had eggs and fruit at the breakfast buffet and we were shocked to see a charge for $66.00. Eat elsewhere. On a positive note, the location was great and the staff was very friendly.

We enjoyed our stay at the Empire which was primarily chosen due to it's Gossip Girl affiliation. The staff was very nice and helpful. Due to that, I overlooked the condition that parts of the room (primarily the bathroom) were in. It definitely needs a little work, but I would recommend the hotel.

Everything was great. My only comment would be the configuration of the bathroom. The sink was situated in a nook to it was impossible to stand in front of the sink - there was very little room between the sink and the wall. You could not bend down to brush your teeth.

Shower leaked water onto the floor and the bathroom smelled very musty. . . the room was well appointed, but not well maintained -- this was evident in the old, dented A/C unit and the many issues in the bathroom.

Stayed here for 3 nights the first weekend of April. Our room was a double bed, I felt it was a little tight but that's to be expected in New York. I was really excited about this place as I am a big fan of the show Gossip Girl, but I was disappointed. One of my biggest complaints is that we could not get the room to a comfortable temperature. It always felt so warm and muggy. Plus the a/c unit was pretty loud. The elevators were a problem too. They are slow and broke down easily. When it came to check out time for us there was only 1 out of 4 elevators working so you can imagine what a cluster that was. Overall, I thought the hotel was okay, it's an old building so you have to keep that in mind. The location is nice but I probably would not stay here again.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. We were placed in a room on the 12th floor for our first night ad while the reps outside were in the 40s ad 50s, it was 80 to 90 in the room. We turned on the air as opened the window but it never cooled off. When we asked to move the next day we had to pack up our stuff and move it five floors down. No bell service no assistance ... Nothing. The shower in that room wouldn't get hot so we all had to take like warm to cold showers. I would not stay here again and would tell anyone else to save the $700 for two nights and stay at a real luxury hotel in Manhattan.
