"Don't trust the Car Valet!"
Very small rooms. Items went missing from car when Valet parked. Must make sure everything that isn't nailed down is removed from your car before handing over the keys!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Thanksgiving at the Empire"
Stayed at Empire during Thankgiving. Very convenient to watch parade. Room was dated and in fair condition, but was clean. Two elevators broke down during our three night stay was a little disturbing. $3.00 charge if you used in-room coffee was disappointing, and no ice except via room service was also unreasonable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value for the location"
Nice hotel in a great neighborhood. It's an older hotel so the rooms aren't large and very in layout. Bathrooms are tiny, but manageable. Pros: Great location Friendly staff Nice beds and decor Cons: Rooms on low floors facing street are loud. If light sleeper, stay in an interior room They charge for coffee in the room and Internet accessGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Thanksgiving in NYC"
Terribly small rooms and a heater that sounded like it was being cranked from the outside every time it would turn on. It would wake me up every time it would turn on. Very loud.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall very pleased by Empire. Room was small, but clean. Housekeeping was prompt, discreet. Location is superb for access to Lincoln Center events, as well as very convenient to subway '1' line, Central park (1 block) and Columbus Circle (4 blocks). Hotel is older, but well kept-up, nice bar. Rooftop night club really loud.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and service."
Great for combined business and family trip. Location excellent for Lincoln center and neighborhood restaurants. Sometimes room was too hot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The only good thing is the location!"
It was impossible to get a tea or coffee easily. In the rooms there's a Keurig which costs $2.50. Mum used the tea pod and when she rang down for milk they told her it was in the pack already in the room, of course this turned out to be little containers of half and half, very different from milk - and you can't get tea or coffee in the bar. Late we […] went to the bar. Mum ordered a mojito and the woman came back and said they were out of mint. So mum asked what else would be a long, refreshing drink. She recommended a blood orange martini which I thought was a strange recommendation and, of course, turned out to be a regular, strong and not at all long or refreshing, martini! You could tell she wasn't really listening as she was constantly scanning the room. My iced water never arrived. The next morning at breakfast nothing arrived for 45 minutes and only when we chased it. My mum ordered a bowl of oatmeal followed by eggs and they then tried to bring everything together after we chased them. By now we were running out of time so we sent the eggs back and told them that we wouldn't be paying for those. They were still on the bill when it came. I suspect that our order had been misplaced as not even our grapefruit juices arrived without chasing, but no one said that - they said a big party was taking place in a back room and it was slowing down the kitchen; if that was the case, how come other people came and went in the same time? This hotel is literally only steps across from the main entrance to Lincoln Center. 400 feet more and you are at the entrance to the 66th Street stop on the 7th Avenue Broadway line. "Death by a Thousand Cuts....or Nickled and Dimed"
I was very disappointed in this hotel. The room was clean and the lobby is swanky. The neighborhood is great - upper west side NYC! The front desk was polite and helpful. This is not at all a low-end hotel. This hotel is even a bit RITZY! SOOOOooooo...... When a hotel like this has some big flaws it is noticeable. The Elevators were slow and unreliable. […] I actually walked >10 flights to my room once...and got stuck in an elevator for a few minutes another time. And worse, you will be nickled and dimed for everything. Want some tea in your room? There's an upscale Keurig machine and a pricetag of about $4 for each cup you make. This is what I expect for in-room peanuts, candies and drinks...but not for tea/coffee. Want WiFi - better be prepared to pay or to go to the lobby. Seriously, these are little things that come FREE at a Hampton Inn (along with breakfast too!). This is a very nice hotel that is not cheap. Why needle me with these little annoyances? I will not recommend this hotel. Go a little more generic and less swanky and you'll have a nicer, more pleasant stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A night at the Empire hotel"
The room and hotel were very nice. However, either the room is not well insulated for sound or I was just in an area that was noisy. I was awakened several times during the night with what sounded like someone stomping overhead on a hard wood floor. I also heard again what sounded like pipes clanking and there were times that I thought someone was breaking […] into the room because I could hear doors opening and closing, and /or keys turning in locks. I loved the room, the hotel, the staff, the location. Just a noisy night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great experience for first trip to NY"
This was the first time I have been to NY. The staff was friendly, courteous and offered help with a few situations that we had. Overall a fantastic place in the middle of where we needed to be at in the city. Good Location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were recommended the hotel by Dr. Oz staff. Great location! Jr. Suite was arranged nicely. Bed was very comfortable. Chowder House was excellent! There are 3 opportunities for improvements: 1)Heat did not work properly even after 2 calls, 2)Shower water was warm at best, and 3) Very little storage in Junior Suite for 5 days of clothing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel was fine except the beds are too short and very narrow. A 5'11" person cannot lie on the bed without their feet hanging off the end. The lobby, etc, is very dark. We paid over $600 for a night. You'd think that the wifi would be complementary! $7.50 for a small water in the room. It is annoying to be charged so many extras.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Empire Hotel and Lincoln Center Patrons"
One overnight. Great view and room. Bathroom a bit small( a little bit of mold in crevices-not unique to this hotel). There were ear plugs provided. we learned later why, the hmp hmp of the club on the top floor and street noises were audible. We were in town to spend a couple of days with a friend who was running the NYC Marathon. We had to change our plans and booked a room at the Empire Hotel at the last minute. "This place sucks!"
Awful, awful, awful! If you have NO standards, stay here! If you expect them to do what they say they will do, dont stay here. We stayed in a double junior suite. A 12 inch cut out in the wall is supposed to be your closet and a bench with 2 small drawers is the dresser. Nowhere to put your clothes, no vanity space in bathroom to set your toiletries. […] No wash cloths in the bathroom. They say the rooms come with robes, but you have to aske for that IF they have any available. No hot water (i dont blame them for that) but, when you say youll make it right and then refuse to upon checkout, thats inexcusable! NEVER AGAIN!!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok hotel, freezing shower"
Hotel looks good, but is tired. The shower was the coldest and tiniest trickle that i have ever seen. I callled matience, and they said "that is as good aa it gets. "Great location, small rooms"
I'd been to the Empire Hotel years ago for a work event, and while the hotel's public spaces are nice and the location is lovely the rooms are VERY small even for NY standards--it's borderline comfortable for one. Furthermore, the second morning of my stay there was no hot water. When I discussed this with the front desk, they told me that the problem […] had been fixed, but offered nothing to compensate for the inconvenience. In sum, if you're traveling alone, it's perfectly fine. If you're traveling as a couple, the room may be uncomfortably small. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The location is fantastic and I have stayed here many times, but I am done with the Empire. This last trip, there was no hot water, which they told me after I checked in and I was handed my room key ("oh, by the way"). To get a shower, they were offering what he called a "free pass" to an offsite health club. The Empire seems most interested in marketing […] its bars and has let the hotel and service fall drastically. It is crowded, loud, and service is terrible from the staff who seems to not care. "Let's rethink this hotel's rating b/c it's definitely not a 4 star!"
I was blown away by the service at this hotel, but not in a good way. This hotel is listed as a 4 star but the service and "hospitality" that i received make this at the most a solid 2 star. The front desk refused to bring my lost luggage (1 bag) that was delivered in the middle of the night up to my room. The front desk had no stamp for mailing a letter […] and was unable to provide me with information as to where the nearest place was i could purchase one. These concerns were politely brought up to hotel management who offered (i did not ask for anything) to comp my entire stay for 50% off but when the bill came, they comped 1 night of the entire stay 50% off. With so many options of places to stay in NYC at comparable rates, i definitely could not recommend this hotel in good conscious. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Much too costly for what you get"
The doormen and front desk staff were all great. However, a deluxe queen room is the size of a bathroom. For 350 a night I would have been better served in a Hampton Inn. There was one tiny bar of soap and the towels were not replaced daily. Not to mention the hot water was broken for several hours. I would not recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Elevator broken. No hot water. And this hotel is tattered...needs paint. It needs to be freshened up. My Tuesday night stay I believe was about $400----no hot water. I know things happen but I believe you need to reinvest in the general upkeep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful Hotel 100% Satisfied Incredible Location"
Selected because of its proximity to Central Park & Lincoln Center. The hotel was an excellent choice. The staff is friendly, helpful and responsive. The hair dryer broke and they replaced it immediately. Very nice shower--plenty of hot water and large thick towels. Quiet--no noise from other rooms. Good control over air/heat. Comfortable mattress, […] good quality sheets, pillows. CLEAN. We had an 8 hour delay in arriving and must have looked extremely tired, pathetic. Ricky upgraded us the next day. Offered us breakfast, but we had other plans. The rooftop nightclub was popular with the younger crowd (not for us). If you are attending Lincoln Center, this hotel CAN'T be beat. Can see the Lincoln Center from the room and can almost hear the overture from the room. Subway is across the street. Very helpful Polish descent worker at the front desk. Some complain about room size. This is Manhattan not Kansas, Dorothy! Room layout was efficient. Room safe, fridge, closet. Lighting was good. Sure you pay extra for water, coffee. Go to the drugstore around the corner or Starbucks. Why pay more if you're not using it? The only negative was the elevators. Usually one of four were out during our stay. But it is a smaller scale hotel and didn't have to wait long--unlike the slow, crowded elevators when we stayed at the Hudson Hotel last year. Nice small park across from the lobby. Overall, an excellent choice, great value, and I look forward to staying again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was very hospitable and kind. The bar and lobby area was awesome. The elevators were a nightmare. The wait was impossibly long for an elevator and as a result, I had to carry my heavy luggage up and down several flights of stairs. The A/C didn't work consistently, which resulted in many calls to have maintenance take a look. For a one night […] stay that was a total hassle. As a result, I would not return to or recommend this hotel to others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, but needs upgrades"
The great service and location helped us to overlook those items needing improvement. Main complaints, not all of the elevators were working so you had to wait a long time for one and when it finally came, you had to squeeze in to an already packed elevator. Next, not sure if all rooms are the same, but our shower only had half a shower door. The restroom […] needed a deep cleaning and the door was very worn. We didn't complain because the service made up for it. We were greeted warmly, and the bell men were nice and helpful! Also, the hotel is in a great spot, it is near Central Park, has great restaurants and places to shop nearby, and is across the street from Lincoln center. We might actually give them another try on our next visit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Love the location. The room was quiet. The bathroom shower was very difficult to use with the overhead shower dripping while using the personal shower. Perhaps a different personal shower head would improve the quality of the shower experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"For the middle class nyc vacationer"
I just wasn't comfortable enough in this place to be happy. The room was the size of a broom closet and looked into somebody else's window. Did I mention the room was $300 a night? The sheets were not clean. And the blinds to my window broke so the blinds were down the whole time. This is one of those places that you get an amazing location and a subpar […] room. They know it's the best location for the money so they aren't too concerned about you having a great stay. But the location was amazing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
