Nice hotel close to Lincoln Center, the room itself is comfortable. One comment is that they have snacks and drinks in the room that are extremely expensive. $8.00 for a bottled water? Hit up a near by deli before returning to your room if you want water or snacks.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good old Empire"
I come here every year for a friends weekend. It's in a great location and a fun place to stay. The condition of the hotel has deteriorated over the years and could use a remodel but in general a great hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"It's Too Darn Hot!!!"
Overall, I had a very nice stay at the Empire Hotel. The lobby is very nice, with a sitting area and a bar. We had no trouble checking in or checking out. Everyone was very helpful. The hotel is in a very convenient area for shopping, seeing a show or just walking around. We went to Central Park and saw 2 shows during our stay. The room was big enough […] and had nice decor. I had only 2 problems, but these may weigh on others more than myself. First, room service is only available at certain times...no 24 hour service here. We wanted to eat before going to a show and were told dinner wasn't available until 6pm. So, i had to go down and get take out from the restaurant next door. Second, and most importantly, the tempature in the room was uncomfortable. It was too darn hot!! There didn't seem to be a way to adjust the tempature so we had to keep the window open the whole time. Honestly, if we couldn't open the window I would've went crazy! The hotel has got to do something about the tempature in the rooms. One persons comfortable is anthers sauna...and it was a sauna. Taking everything into consideration, I would recommend the hotel. "ONE OF THE BEST NYC HOTELS! And not too expensive!"
I surprised my husband with a stay-cation on our anniversary. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE! The staff was incredible, they helped me with the surprise! The room was so much nicer than I expected! Decorated beautifully, a lot more spacious then many NYC hotels. Amazing view of Lincoln Center & Broadway. BEST room-service breakfast! "Upper West Side Hotel fits the need"
I came to avoid a snowstorm so I could be on time for an early meeting on the Upper West Side. My room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Beautiful bedding and good shower and towels. The bathroom, room decor and common areas are a little rundown and tired however the hotel was nice enough and extremely well located.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great for business in the Lincoln Centre area during winter. Many restaurants in the area and things to do. The room is small but adequate. The only problem is no control of heat in room. Room extremely warm. Could have been worse freezing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was nice. Beautiful lobby and great location. The room wasn't my favorite. Wall paper peeling and cracks in bathroom. The shower was also difficult.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic location, great hotel, awful heating uni"
Location, location, location is what the Empire has going for it. You can't do any better than being directly across from Lincoln Center and having many wonderful restaurants outside your door. I found the hotel staff to be friendly, helpful and welcoming. My room was very small but well appointed and very clean. The big MINUS was the noise that emanated, […] all day and all night long, from the antiquated heating unit. It was endless banging, clanking, and crashing, and was loud enough to wake me from a sound sleep (when I was finally able to collapse into a sound sleep.) I hope the management rectifies this situation because I would think twice about staying at the Empire again because of the noise and discomfort. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The room was nice but small! The bathroom door was worn and a roached climbed out of the shower. The bathroom was a closet! The entrance and stairway carpet was very worn. Overall, it was nice for the price!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great couples getaway"
Hotel is nicely updated and clean, but the rooms are small and very stuffy. We were hot in January with the window open and the a/c on high. Extras like coffee, water etc. are very expensive, but Starbucks as well as a local pharmacy/store are located next door. Very convenient location, quiet and less than two blocks from central park. Short walk to […] any subway line in a beautiful neighborhood. Overall a great stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We stayed at the Empire while attending the ballet at Lincoln Center. The hotel was elegant and comfortable, although there was a problem with too much heat in our room. We had the air-conditioning on in January!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, but meh"
The staff here is remarkable, I will give them that. Everyone we came into contact with who works here has THE best customer service. They are very accommodating and wonderful. With that being said, I truly feel that they need to pay more attention to the details of the rooms. The first initial room we stayed in was SOOOOOOOOO hot that we couldn't even […] sleep. We ended up calling down to the desk and they changed our room (and upgraded) immediately which was nice. There also seemed to be quite a few nicks and dents in the walls and doors. The beds are also a bit hard to sleep on, not comfortable at all. Other than that it was fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, spacious with courteous staff"
The staff was very courteous and professional. Pasqual at the front desk gave us a room upgrade to a double which was very spacious for NYC. We also received a late checkout on Sunday at 2 pm which was super helpful as my daughter was auditioning for colleges.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"better value elsewhere"
the room was nice. make sure you get an exterior[street] facing room there was no shower door so water went every where. when we got into bed there were no sheets on the bed just a fitted sheet and comforter. it took several calls to the front desk before anyone answered then another 20 min for them to bring us sheets.also asked about the shower door […] when i called they said ever room was like that i don't by it those as there were tracks for a shower door. lobby bar was great. overall it wasnt worth the 240 for the room. will be staying elsewhere next time. only benefit was its right across the street form Lincoln center which is where we were going. better off spending your money else where unless you need proximity to lincoln center. "Empire hotel stay."
The hotel staff was helpful and pleasant. The room - a junior sweet was fine. The only complaint is nothing is free. Charging 3.50 for coffee in your room is a little much. We did not use vallet parking and parking one block away cost us the entire stay as much as a single day of valet parking would. The Ed's Chowder house was great for meals and convenient. There were several problems with our room, the most significant being no heat the last night. They tried to repair it but found they had to replace the unit the next day. "Location a dream but hotel no big deal."
Heat/Air did not work. Fortunately room was a comfortable temperature. Shower is awful. Handheld is a huge pain and "rain" showerhead dripped even though we did not use it. Twice while walking in from the outside a male employee standing in the vestibule asked us if we were staying at the hotel. Why were we asked this question? And in what capacity […] was he asking? Booked via Hotels.com but upon arrival we were told there was no reservation, even though I provided desk with confirmation number. This took place at noon and check in was at 3 p.m. and I was told desk would call when resolved. Never called, but fortunately was resolved when we came back at 3 p.m. We were going to the opera so location could not have been better. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was as I had asked, in the front of the hotel. Happy about that. However the bathroom was really tiny. Adequate but kind of shabby chic. It needed a paid t job to look fresh and really clean. Other than that all was very good. The bellmen especially were very helpful. "Needs an overhaul"
Ideal location for UWS. - rooms are typically on small size - bathroom / you have to step inside to close the door it's so small. Ride up to the room on slow elevators - they are beat up and dirty. Service at front desk is pleasant. "Gym" is a major stretch - it's a 1990's room on the basement with machines crammed together - with wallpaper that is […] hideous. Bonus - price is right and they always have apples at the front desk ( one more thing - you have to request a luggage stand ! What ! I thought most travelers would have at least one piece of luggage and would prefer to save the chair for sitting ) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"great location horrible hotel"
we booked a suite and were told we would be facing courtyard, it turned out to be three brick walls, the bathroom was 5'x5', you needed to sit on toilet bowl to close door, one small sink, that water would not drain until you took out plunger, there was no tub, a water bottle was $8.- and unless you like 60's MOTOWN playing 24/7 this is not the place […] for you, the lobby was so noisy that we held our meeting at the corner restaurant. At 3am a loud noise, like a jet taking off, came on and lasted for 35 mins. When we lodged our complain the front desk informed us that we did not have to pay for the small bottle from the bar and hoped that would make us happy. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A great hotel convenient to Lincoln Center"
The Empire Hotel underwent a major renovation a few years ago,y re and this was our first stay there after the work. The hotel is really beautiful, with a lovely lobby bar. Our room (called Superior King) was typical NYC-hotel-sized (AKA tiny), leaving little room to move around the the bed. The bathroom, although nicely appointed, was awkwardly arranged, […] making it impossible to stand directly in front of the sink and mirror. The shower was nice, but had no real door to close it off from the rest of the bathroom -- creating a bit of a problem with standing water on the tile floor. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel, great location"
We stayed at this hotel the weekend after Christmas 2014. The location was great; we walked everywhere we needed to go, including times square. The only negative thing was that the rooms were small. We were a little cramped with 4 ppl in the room with 2 double beds. There was absolutely no closet space or drawer space. we ended up balancing our suitcases […] in the window sill. We called for a microwave for the room but when they brought it, there was no where to put it. We had a room with a view of the city which was nice. Noise from the club didn't bother us; we were in the 7th floor. I heard that the elevators were slow, but they worked fine for me; its a busy hotel, so the elevators are used heavily but it was not unreasonable. The hotel is located in a very good spot, right by Central park and a short walk to Time Square and Rockefeller Center! The staff was very friendly and helpful. "Nice hotel close to everything"
I had a wonderful experience during my stay. There a few things I wish were different such as the view from my window, which happened to be the back of a building and the fact that the shower didn't have a slidding door but just a door and water would get out on the floor. Aside from that though I will definitely stay at this hotel again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Location great, loud, worn and weathered"
I give the location a thumbs up if you are going to a show or the theater, and the proximity to Central Park was great if you like to take a morning run or walk. At first glance, the hotel seems a bit funky and nice, but up close it is very worn and our room was extremely loud. I was disappointed with the room, considering what we paid for it (close […] to $500 with taxes for a double). It's a given that most rooms in NYC will be small, so that didn't bother me. But the bathroom in particular was very beat up with tile peeling away from the shower, paint peeling off the door, water damage on the floor and walls, and the vanity/shelving unit veneer was worn off on all of its edges. The stopper in the sink was broken. The staff were quite nice so no complaints there. We only spent a night, but next time around we will try somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful time in NYC!"
My friend recommended the Empire Hotel and we were so glad that she did! We had a wonderful experience! The location is great - the Lincoln Center is out the door and to the left, just across the street. We walked all over the city from the hotel - Rockefellar Center, 5th Avenue, FAO Schwartz, Central Park, Bryant Park, Time Square. The only time we […] got a taxi was to go to the Statue of Liberty. The rooms were nice - we had the jr. suite with 2 queen beds and a couch. We have 3 kids and the couch - although not a sleeper - was big enough for my 8 year old to sleep on, so we were set. The walls are a bit thin and I could hear our neighbors, and doors opening and closing, but it wasn't terrible. The bathroom doesn't have any counter space, so I moved a little table into the bathroom so I would have a place to set my stuff. The shower is funky. It only has 1/2 closure and the shower head comes straight down from the ceiling, so the water gets all over the bathroom, but that's a same amount of time spent in the shower compared to our overall time, so I'm not knocking down the rating for the bathroom. Pasquale, at the front desk, was the best!! Turns out we both come from a very small village in Italy and know the same people! Such a small world! He was very friendly, polite and gave great customer service! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Good hotel, neat clean, good location, nice size room for NYC. Great price for all you get. Lots within walking distance and easy access to the subway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First trip to NYC. Special 6 day Christmas vacation. We chose the Empire Hotel based on location, rates and reviews. Wanted a boutique hotel & to be away from the crowds of the midtown Times Square area. Researched lots of options before making reservation. Very happy with the selection. Price was very reasonable for the quality, location and holiday […] time of visit. Enjoyed our stay very much. Arrived well ahead of check in time, but room was ready for us. Great location. Easy walk to Central Park and so many sites. Convenient access to subway too. Loved the decor! Attractive; upscale, urban contemporary style. Typical wear & tear due to hotel traffic. May be due for a fresh coat of paint & new carpet soon. 7th floor room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Nice view across to the Lincoln Center. Appreciated the extra space of the upgraded corner room. Staff & room service are excellent. Had a delicious dinner at Ed's Chowder House connected to the hotel. Starbucks next door is very convenient for quick drink/breakfast on the go or snack. Only drawbacks were the slow elevators & the small shower, but no big deal really. Would definitely recommend to others & hope to stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location, Clean Hotel"
Our trip was over Christmas week. When we arrived we were helped promptly by courteous staff. Our first room had an issue with the temperature and they were able to quickly move us to another room after sending a tech at 2am to check on it. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little worn but kept clean and neat. There were only […] two elevators working but this was not a problem to get up and down to our room. Great location with lots of amenities including a Starbucks, two restaurants, and a 24 hour drug store right at the building, not to mention all the restaurants in the area. The drug store is good if you want water as all items in the room - including the coffee maker are to be used for a fee. Lots of things to do - it is right next to the Lincoln Center, two blocks from Central Park, and not too long a walk to the shopping district on 5th Avenue. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
