Park Plaza Vondelpark - Amsterdam

The front desk staff was great and very accommodating to assist with bike rentals, tickets, trains, etc. The hotel is spread across 3 buildings, but I couldn't find an elevator to get between buildings 2 and 3.

This must have been one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. I think they have a sewage problem, because our room smelled very bad. And the smell would get even worse now and then. I said something to the front desk. Nothing was done. Also the service is bad. I asked for a second pillow, and had to go to the front desk to get it. The room is also designed […] weird. My wife and I stayed for a single night at the Park Plaza hotel and it is great! Very well located, very nice people and very clean. My only small issue is the room size, specially the bathroom size. Yet, for sure it is worth it. And there is also a good bar within the hotel.

I really enjoyed the neighborhood, and being able to walk to different restaurants, shopping and the museum complex. I loved the park next door, and felt very safe even though I was there by myself. I would recommend it to anyone who would like a relaxing get away. The shuttle to the airport was the way to exit by the way! Excellent service.

Given the location of the hotel (Amsterdam South), I had expected more in terms of condition, maintenance and comfort of the hotel room. The room was small, poorly ventilated, and had wall and ceiling stains. The Internet connection was painfully slow, the TV programming laughable, and the breakfast option too expensive. Park Plaza is a reasonable hotel with clean, sparse rooms and amiable staff. Located in Amsterdam South, it is not the best location if looking to be close to the city center or if looking for the comforts of a 4 or 5 star hotel.

I stayed in the Executive Suite for two evenings in the middle of October. I found the hotel staff to be incredibly amiable and willing to do whatever to ensure I was comfotable. I did find a few issues with the hotel room; 1.) Light bulbs were burnt out in several standing lamps, 2.) Sheets were wet on the bed, which made for a very cold sleeping arrangement, […] 3.) Shag carpet gave me the heeby jeebies, definitely didn't look clean. I rented a bicycle too while I was there- the bike was incredibly beat up. The breaks and the bike lock barely worked. The poor internet service made the stay unbearable. You needed to go through a cumbersome log in proceedure every time you were inactive for 5 min. Then the service was so slow, web pages took minutes to load or timed out entirely. It's not a particularly modern hotel, in fact, we suspect it is a converted brothel. Pink doors with red lights above, very suspect. However, we enjoyed our stay. It's a very peaceful location and it's on the tram line to the city center. For the price, it's ok to stay for a couple of nights.

We have stayed at this hotel before due to the proximity to my son's home. However, it is on the #2 tram line, and only 3 stops to the museum district. Hotel receptionists were kind but everything was "go into the web" and do it yourself attitutde. We arrived late in the afternoon and walked a little further than expected, but once we knew the location and the tram system, we realised the tram stop was right on the corner. We were travelling with our daughter (51/2) and the park was wonderful for picnics and walks (little supermarket 2/3 blocks down - great food variety for this), great tapas […] restaurant also around the corner. My GF and I stayed here for 3 nights. This was our first stop on our vacation so we were exhausted from our flight from NY. We took the train from the airport then had to figure out the tram to our hotel. We waited at the tourist office to get a tram pass. Finally caught the tram towards the hotel and got off too early and had to walk a few blocks. […] We finally made it and they got us in quick. We took a nap and got cleaned up. Once you figure out the tram it was great. Watch out for the in and out doors and remember to push the button if you want to get out haha. There was a stop about a block from the hotel in a nice residential area. Not to mention the beautiful Vondelpark. It gets you to the city center in about 10 mins but there is a lot to do and see before you even get all the way to the center. Our room was great we had a partial view of the park. It was comfortable, clean, and had a nice big TV. Only flaw I can remember is the drain was a bit slow in the shower, but no biggie. Definitely go for this hotel. Not the fanciest thing, but if you're there to see Amsterdam its worth it. Especially with the easy transportation and you can get away from the hustle of the city at night. Read more
