Crystal Plaza Hotel - Stockholm

This hotel has some strange quirks, but is all in all not bad. Stockholm is a very expensive city, so hard to find value places. I appreciated that they had an exercise room - but you have to book it. Not a problem for me and I was able to use the treadmill every morning. Breakfast seems good, although I usually stuck with fruit and cheese. The room […] is super small but clean. My biggest issue was the bathroom. The sink was super small and it was impossible to avoid getting water all over the floor. The shower also lacks a door, so tends to spread some water on the floor too - although it is sloped. I stayed in an economy room at another place and the bathroom there was much better. Also the location is not bad, the neighborhood is safe, but it's not near a train station. This hotel is wonderfully situated within walking distance of most Stockholm sights. Our room was a comfortable size, but the bathroom was VERY small, with an impossibly small sink, off-track shower doors and low water pressure. No bathroom amenities (shampoo, etc) and I didn't like the shampoo/body wash dispenser in the shower. this was our first time in Stockholm and didn't know much about this hotel. it had an awesome buffet breakfast and the location was in a busy neighborhood with restaurants and shopping. it was a 5 minute walk to the harbor and 10 minutes to the main train station. However, the rules for the gym are the weirdest I have encountered in any hotel in the world. With three cardio machines and a sauna you must pre-book your workout, and only one person is allowed in per hour!

This hotel worked very well for us. We needed 3 rooms for our group of 6 adults. Each room we had was really nice. The location was good. The rooms higher up are quieter and the hotel seems to try to put everyone there first. The front desk is helpful and speak good english. The breakfast that is included has a lot of variety for being in Europe.

We loved staying at the Crystal Palace. Our room was in the turret part of the hotel; it was round and had 6 huge windows. It was one of the largest rooms I've ever stayed in. The furniture was "antique" painted turquoise. Cute. The bed was comfy. The Bath was very modern. The breakfast, which is included in the room price, was an excellent buffet. […] Such a nice way to start the day. The street is tree-lined with beautiful old buildings. The hotel is a block from a huge park which surrounds the library. There is a nice little restaurant/bar on the edge of the park which was a fun place to eat, and then take a long walk before bed. We arrived at 8:00 a.m. We had just gotten off a 12 hour flight from Nevada. We were exhausted. The young lady at the front desk let us check into our room immediately instead of the usual 2:00 p.m. check-in. This made a huge difference since we needed to sleep and adjust to the jet lag. This was one of the few hotels in Stockholm that allowed three […] people to a room. This is why we chose this hotel since we had our teenager with us. They booked a tee time at a very nice golf course for me and provided all of the transportation information to me thus ensuring that I could focus on the golf and not the logistics. They were helpful in other ways as well, booking taxis, making reservations for dinner, etc. The hotel itself […] is quite nice. This hotel is well located in Ostermalm where there is lots of shopping. Also, the tunnelbana (metro) is just a short walk down the street. However, the single rooms are very tiny. For me, it was fine since I had some banking business to take care of in the area, but it may not be the best for a tourist that does not know Stockholm well.

The hotel is very well located, of good to modest quality with similar service. We encountered one problem that all should be aware. Laundry is excessively expensive. It's about 10 times what one would consider reasonable, and this is from a person who has traveled worldwide over the past 30 years! The hotel claims that they have no laundry alternative. […] I can't believe this, and I think even offering this service without a large posted disclaimer is bad business. The laundry bags do not list prices, for the prices are tucked into the hotels information booklet. This is poor practice for a hotelier. We travel for long (3 - 4 week periods and only use carry on luggage, so we depend upon laundry service. If we would have been made aware of the price we would have found a laundromat as we have done before. Read more

This hotel is in the middle of Stockholm. If you are a tourist that likes to be in a nice hotel, with a budget I would recommend this hotel. I myself have stayed with it several times and its a price worthy normal hotel. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are ok. Its not Marriott but better than most city hotels.
