Beautiful, historic hotel. Very comfortable room. Prompt & potlite staff. Excellent little cafe. I booked this hotel for a last minute emergency visit (my mother was having surgery at nearby GWU hospital) and the serinity of this hotel helped to calm my nerves during an otherwise stressful trip.

The location was excellent. Close to the White house. Staff was helpful, nice and provide with good information. Valet aprking was expensive @ 32 a night, But i was able to park on the street "free of charge" after 6 pm. I was able to find paking in front of hotel. Overall the Lombardy was a decent, safe, well located, and average boutique Hotel. We're actually surprised at the level of hype surrounding this property; even in our travel guide (Lonely Planet) it received rave reviews. Our impressions were on the mediocre side for the following reasons: cavernous, dark interior w/ no lobby, highly over-priced menu […] at both (limited) restaurant and lounge, rooms were European sized small, staff was average at best, no frills or thrills, rather budget travel in our opinion. Housekeeping was one high point, immaculate cleaning and upkeep by their staff. Another plus: location...10 min walk from White House, 20 min walk from Georgetown, 5 min walk to Metro Station. We stayed here for a night in order to "make a date" while on the road. As a hotel right in the middle of DC, you really can't do much better in terms of location - close to many attractions and lots of great dining options. One caveat is that parking is almost nonexistent. We opted to utilize the valet service, only to be "surprised" with a $40 bill […] under our door. Another unpleasant incident occurred when the housekeeper knocked on our door around 7pm. Confused, neither of us answered, and she then proceeded to open the door and poke her head in to see if the room was occupied. Luckily we were more or less decent, but it was an unwelcome intrusion nonetheless. Otherwise, though, this was a nice stay. This was our third stay. The hotel appears to be an old apartment building converted to a hotel. Nonetheless, it was very comfortable and had a really nice feeling to it. We appreciated the early check in and late check out. We'll stay there again!

Quiet for the time of the year we've been there (November 2012). Service was ok, nothing bad, nothing going the extra mile. For the price, a very good value. Excellent location. Lots of charm, including the tucked away bar with good service. Old fixtures in rooms but they worked. And they printed out some documents for me that they didn't charge for where most hotels would charge you for.

Nice hotel seemingly within a reasonable walking distance of most everything you would want to see in DC. Great french bakery across the street next to Johnny Rockets we ate there every morning. This was my second time as a patron of the Hotel Lombardy and I cannot say enough positive things about both experiences. This hotel is in a great location. It's a quick ride to or from the national airport, It's on Penn. Ave. and a less than five minute walk to two different rail stops. Getting around the rest of the city was super easy. Also, the staff was superb. There was always someone to open the door for you or help you with the elevator. The taxi driver told me […] that the doorman had been working there for 20+ years, and his love for his job showed. The staff was very courteous and helpful, both at the front desk as well as the fellows who helped us with our luggage. They actually talked with us and were extremely helpful. I was there with my son and we both enjoyed our visit. We both felt taken care of! We'll stay there again :)

We arrived at 10.00am and they were able to let us check in early. Hotel is in a great location and very close to metro stops. Staff are friendly. Mohamed in the restaurant loaned my husband his bow tie as we had forgotten to pack one for an event. Room service finished at 9.30pm!! and staff could not supply anything after that time, not even bread […] and cheese. Restaurant is very good and the bar area is quaint. We had a kitchenette in our room, rather dated with no supplies. Seems it was something the hotel used to offer but no longer in use. Beautiful Hotel. Great location. Room floods with sunlight during the day, which I love! Nice single room size. Friends stayed in a double room and it had a sitting area and a separate kitchen area! Front desk staff could use a refresher course in customer service but other than that, had a great stay.

A couple of times during our stay we thought that the hotel was just a bit odd. Everything is a bit small including the room, the halls and elevators, the dining room, and the bar. This boutique hotel has exceptional service from check in to the doorman. The rooms are spacious for DC and very clean. I stay there every time I visit DC. The Venetian Room is a swanky bar, great for a quick nightcap.
