"great location, great service"
State Plaza Hotel is in a fantastic location, very short walk to the nation mall and all national monuments. The staff at the hotel is fantastic, valet service was very convent, and I greatly appreciated the assistance with my luggage. The room itself was good, but slightly dated and lacking a microware as other travelers noted. My room was spacious, […] beds were comfortable and fixtures up to date. Very good value for money. Everyone on staff was most friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit dated, but large, clean, and very comfortable. The only problem I experienced was being awakened by noise from a siren in the night ... not something the hotel can do anything about.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old, but great location"
This is an old hotel between George Washington University and the State Department. It is also near the Federal Reserve and OMB. If you are going to any of those this is a short pleasant walk. It is also a pretty short walk to the mall (Lincoln Memorial end) -- maybe as close a hotel as you can get. The rooms are "old" but surprisingly large. Mine had […] a bedroom, bathroom, sitting room (for makeup, off bathroom) and a full kitchen. But about the old -- the kitchen had a gas range, sink, and full refrigerator, but no microwave and no dishwasher. Small but nice exercise room; room service is o.k., but limited menu. My only complaint was the staff's inability to get me a cab each morning. One morning I called the desk at 7:10 to say I needed a cab at 7:30. They said "call back at 7:25." So I did. At 7:30 there was no cab, and I almost missed a meeting. Each morning it was some similar screw up. Getting a cab in a city is a pretty basic function when there are two bellmen on duty, yet this seemed to be beyond their capabilities... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Just like home"
Great staff, great location, and the rooms are large, and commodious, many with fully fitted kitchens. Excellent value, and very easy access to both airports. I've been staying there for many years, and always go back when I'm in DC. They welcome me like family.Genuine Expedia guest review

I was disappointed in my stay at State Plaza and will not stay again. I drove up in front and had to go in to get help with valet parking, even though two people were there looking at me from inside. The room was not very appealing and I had to call for bottled water. These may seem like small things but after a long drive and day of working, the small […] things make a difference. "A delightful stay"
State Plaza is an older all-suites hotel. Our suite was spacious; the two beds were large and extremely comfortable. The kitchen/dinette area was well supplied, so we ate there a couple of times with take-out from the nearby Whole Foods. The staff were friendly and helpful, but not hustling for tips as sometimes happens in tourist areas. The hotel is […] a short walk to the national mall which is why we chose it. Got a great price from Expedia, so we were very satisfied with our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Walking Distance from everything."
First off, when we made the appointment, a glitch in the system and us not paying good enough attention resulted in us scheduling the wrong date for the Check-in. We didn't realize that until we arrived to check in and found out that we were scheduled to check in 2 days ago. Hotels.com called State Plaza and they agreed to change our check in to the […] date we arrived at no extra charge. So working with us on that was very very nice. The hotel was located within walking distance to just about everything. A few blocks away was the National Mall, White House, Smithsonian and a lot of other monuments. If you like running, again, it's right next to the whole area of monuments, and from the hotel, running down to Constituion, around the Capitol Building, back and up & around the Lincolm Memorial resulted in about a 6 mile loop. Though I ran across the Potomac River and a few other monuments for a 11 mile jog. Doing that with the early morning & sunrise was nice. There is also a starbucks, Dunkin Donuts & a CVS nearby. There is a college nearby, so depending on which way your room faces, you may be facing college dorms, which can be good or bad. They also charge 32 dollars for 24 hour parking, with in/out privileges, however, if you plan to just leave your car & walk around, you can find cheaper parking garages within a block or two. "Water shutoff in the morning before you leave your"
It was great, except for the water shut off the next morning causing my wife to wait 1 1/2 hrs for it to return. The staff was not sure what to do, however, they kept my wife informed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"clean and nice"
Overall our stay was very nice. We enjoyed the hotel service however we received a room at first that was not what I had paid for. I had informed the front desk to make this correction and within 20 minutes they had accommodated us. "Standard Suite in DC"
We loved our room, the Standard Suite. The kitchenette was nice but we didn't fully use it and appreciated that it was an entirely separate room from the bedroom. Included a coffeemaker with great coffee. Fridge was good for beverages. The bathroom was small but had a great shower and a bonus was the large sitting room adjacent to the bathroom, great […] for the wife to blow dry hair and do makeup. The bed was comfy with great comfy sheets and linens. And best, NO Bedbugs. The staff there was really amazing, particularly Manuel and Alex the bellhops. We had a couple incidents that were quickly resolved with very courteous staff. The heat only goes on if it's below 50. My wife was cold, so they brought a portable heater up which worked out great. I'm told the AC is turned off on Oct 15th. Not an issue for us in November however. When it got <50 the heater unit didn't work. A maintenance man was there within 10 minutes of my call and got the unit going quickly. Great service to remedy issues!! Very clean, some outdated furniture but that wouldn't keep us away. The location in Foggy Bottom was a nice distance from many sights. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great "base camp" from which to explore D.C."
I had stayed at the State Plaza some years ago, and so I knew that the suite format would be perfect for showing my parents around the city. My dad is about to retire, and had never visited the nation's capital, and my stepmother hadn't been in years. With a terrific location near the Kennedy Center, Big Bus (open top tour loop bus) stops, the Foggy […] Bottom Metro Station, and with a pharmacy (CVS) and grocery (FoBoGro) right nearby, the State Plaza was a great base camp from which to explore. The kitchenette had what we needed in order to prepare simple meals or reheat leftovers, and the pull-out sofa afforded privacy for the folks in the master bedroom. All around a great deal. The elevator is slow, and the walk between the two "towers" of the hotel were only mildly annoying, and were far offset by the benefits. Room service from the bistro downstairs was great too, and the prices were very reasonable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Everything . . . ."
We have been staying at State Plaza Suites for years now and still love it. It is close to the Mall, to the Kennedy Center, to Dupont Circle, and to Georgetown. "In the heart of it all."
We did a weekend stay here. It's not a fancy hotel, but I was not spending any time in the room anyway. First and foremost, it's a great location. A short walk to some of DC's best locations. There are always cabs driving by. I think our top weight time on a cab was abound 2 minutes or so. Hotel its self was clean and bright, be it a bit on the older […] side. Valet parking is available for $35.00 a day. The staff was great! from hailing cabs to directions and everything in between. Always a smile and great service. I did not try any of the food here, nor did not even see the F Street Bistro. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Why we liked our room."
We liked our room because it had extra space for a large refrigerator, a stove for cooking, a sink for washing dishes, and a coffee pot with coffee for making coffee. The room attendants kept our room clean, made the beds, and always kept us well-supplied with towels, and other essentials. The whole hotel staff were polite, friendly, and helpful!!Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is walking distance from many sites and 4 or 5 blocks from the Metro. The room was spacious with a kitchen and dressing room. Comfortable beds and thick towels. Friendly staff, no noise. And we got a very good rate compared to other hotels downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very Spacious - Great for visiting Georgetown U"
The room was quite large. There is a vanity area outside the bathroom, and a large kitchen with an table for two. The hotel is a bit old fashioned feeling, but it was clean and quiet. Its about a 15 minute walk to the White HouseGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and consistent"
Great location. Close to National Mall. I have always enjoyed my stays at the State Plaza. It is nice to see remodeling in progress and hope they consider microwaves in the rooms for convenience rather than the stove tops. The only disappointment is the Bistro not operated by the hotel. The hotel is well located close to the office. However, my room did not have any facial tissues in the bathroom, nor a stool for the vanity table and although the bed had four pillows, they were all the same - very high and relatively hard. Very nice hotel. Spacious, clean rooms with comfortable beds. Staff very nice and helpful. A 20-25 minute walk to the Smithsonian museums.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Mostly good experience"
I arrived well before check-in time and was able to check in. However, it meant taking a room that was not a suite and did not have a kitchen in a hotel that advertises itself as all suites. Still, the room was of a generous size, with a desk that was in the top of a fat L and thus sheltered from the TV if some one else were watching it. (I sometimes […] was multi-tasking, so this was a mixed blessing.) The bed was very comfortable and everything was spotless. The location is an easy walk to the Lincoln Memorial and a reasonable walk to the White House and to the WWII memorial and Vietnam Memorial as well as the Corcoran Museum. There aren't many places close to eat, but there was one nice restaurant for lunch within a block and I found a Whole Foods Market with good take-out on I Street and 22nd, about three to four blocks away. There is a restaurant in the hotel which I did not try. There are two "towers", one on E Street and one on F, connected by a parking garage. I was in the "north tower" with a lobby on F street, which I think is supposed to be newer. That may be the reason for the departure from the all-suite design. That was not a problem for my needs, but might be for others. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Heart of GW and close to all"
Hotel probably apartment in past life. Room had little kitchen and sweet dressing area off of bedroom. Perfect for longer stay. A little pricey for a couple of nights, but rates can be negotiated for longer stays.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The quality of the room (furniture, use, walls) was average. Our room (maybe all rooms) have a separate kitchen area, which was dingy. The kitchen included a gas stovetop (don't know if it worked), but no pots or pans were in the kitchen. Dishes and cutlery were though. The bathroom was very small compared to all the space in the main room (with beds) […] and kitchen. Although I had the thermostat set to cool (i.e. A.C.) the heater came on during the night and the room got very warm. The hotel is located right in the middle of GWU, we were worried about noise from the frat houses, but even during halloween weekend the room stayed quiet. There are restaurants and a whole foods within a few blocks, as well as the metro station. It worked for our uses (needed a hotel with fridge/microwave for the night before a marathon), but seemed a little expensive for the quality of the rooms. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Positives: Lots of square footage for the money. Great for visiting GWU and Mall attractions. Clean. Negatives: Bathroom sink was clogged, it had a huge kitchen but no microwave or oven for warming up doggie bags. We got a call at 2:30 a.m. from the front desk asking us to be quiet when it was the party room next door making the noise.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was great. Good location for my bussines needs. Slight limitation on high quality food on the neighborhood. Great big rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were surprised how large of a room we had. A huge kitchen. (only downsize no microwave) but a full size stove, refrigerator, dining table for 2 and a wonderful bed. Huge vanity area so you don't have to wait for a bathroom mirror. Next door 24 hour CVS.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel with excellent location"
The staff at the hotel were very attentive and helpful. Each night we were brought a bottle of water and a note. One day we needed a taxi and the staff called one and waited outside until one arrived. One night very late in the evening guests were being very loud and the staff took care of it. Also we left our car keys in the safe and the staff found […] them for us and returned them to us. The room we stayed in was very dated but clean and comfortable. The location is perfect: 1) 5 min. walking from the White House 2) 3 min. walking from the metro 3) Almost inside the George Washington University My room was a kind of suite (I had a room with a kitchen included) but I think I paid too much (around $180 per night). "malfunctioning AC unit/ tear in sheet"
When I checked into the hotel no one informed me that there AC system was down. Once I reached the room I found it to be very stuffy so I changed the settings and thought it will get better. Went out for couple of hrs and came to find the room was even more stuffy. called front desk and asked them to send someone to check the AC and the person answering […] the phone just laughing informed me that AC is down and instead of apologizing informed that I will be fine and its no big deal ( just open the window ). I immediately asked to speak with the manager who called and sent a table fan to my room.
