A short guide to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)

First opening in 1992, the PIT measures 2.1 million square feet and occupies 10,000 acres. It’s no surprise, then, that more than 11 million travelers pass through the airport each year. Its 100 shops and restaurants offer plenty for the casual browser or the souvenir hunter. Connecting to Pittsburgh via the Fort Pitt Tunnel, the airport is less than a half-hour’s drive from downtown Pittsburgh.

The manager's reception, full breakfast, and swimming/hot tub/workout facilities are without equal. With an on-site restaurant and bar there is no need to leave the hotel. Only disappointment, booked connecting suites through Hotels.com and ended up with two separate suites at opposite ends of the same floor. Stated that renovations were completed, but were still in progress in the hallways. The completed renovations of the rooms are beautiful.

The hotel is currently undergoing construction---and I'm sure it will be a beautiful property that I would highly recommend after that is completed. There is no gift shop, no snack machines, and the soda machines are sold out--because there is no other options for purchasing. It's a great spot, close to the airport and the rooms were great----BUT the other inconveniences were very, well, inconvenient...

Some general cleaning can be done on this Hotel; it was satisfactory. The room was nice, the hotel courtyard was lovely and the breakfast and guest services really nice. I would stay again, but would hope the hotel decides to do some cleaning to the room. The carpets are stained, walls need a good wiping, along with the doors, furniture and other items.

We booked a King Suite which was able to accomodate my husband and I and our 4 children and goddaughter. The complimentary full breakfast was great and a definite money saver. Only downside was that the Sunday breakfast was held in the restaurant (vs the open air pantry which was being used for some bazaar and celebrity autograph signing) so there was VERY limited seating and a significantly increased wait. Other than that, staff was very friendly and accomodating (restaurant manager even went through the trash to find my daughter's lost retainer!!) and the indoor pond was a delight to my 5 year old son. I would definitely stay there agian.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites. Right away when we checked in, there were signs of poor cleanliness. Smears on walls, dirty windows, and poor maintenance. When we got into our room, it was actually cleaner than I expected based on the appearance of the common areas. However, when we got into our room, one of the chairs at the dining table was broken so we had to call the front desk for that. We checked in with our four small children, and weren't accommodated with extra linens. We called to the front desk, but they never brought them. We called again, and probably half and hour or more later someone finally brought us some extra sheets--no blankets, so the kids were cold all night. The next morning for breakfast I spilled 4 glasses of OJ when I tripped going up some stairs to the seating area. We couldn't find anyone to help us clean it up. Finally my husband went back into the kitchen area and found a small bucket and rag and cleaned it up himself. The floor was completely filthy and looked like it hadn't been mopped in days. It was definitely cleaner after we mopped it up. Someone finally came out to "help" after it was all cleaned up. Then we tried to take the kids into the pool. It was closed because it had been "overflowed." The only guy in the hotel staff who seemed at all friendly was the pool guy who let us in despite his need to get the water to the proper level. He stayed and chatted about the area for a few minutes. All in all, I wouldn't go back if I were in Pittsburgh again, I'd find somewhere else. It wasn't horrible, but for the same money, you could probably get better everything.

i have 2 boys ages 8 and 2 out of the whole trip the thing my oldest son liked best was the hotel. the fish pond when you walk in was hours of ammusment for my youngest. the pool was small but warm indoors and perfect. the cooked to order buffet breatfast was one of my fav things the food was great . Also loved the open bar. we ate at the in house reasturant and although we were the only ones there the service was slow, however the food was great. for anyone who says it needs updating they are in the process of redoing the whole hotel. we had a king room and the privacy from the kids on the couch was great the room was clean and they gave us extra towels with no porblem. the staff was also very nice. didnt like the toilet ran and the bathroom smelled like smoke sometimes. it must of had a vent connected to a smooking room. having to pay for internet was also a negitive, for the price of the room it should come with it

I travel about three times a month all over the upper east coast and have never had to pay for internet. The bathroom door was swollen and would not close. I ordered food at the Hotel restaurant and the quality was very disappointing! The salad was old and wilted, the coleslaw was rancid and the onion rings were cold and hard. On a better note, the made to order breakfast was wonderful and the staff (other than the girl serving drinks at the managers reception), were very friendly and helpful. The interior of the hotel was beautiful!! I would stay again.
