Right off the freeway...and you would never know it...but a great mall is across the street...including Whole Foods...Pottery Barn...PF Changs! It truly is VERY quiet...and you can't see it from the hotel really. The room was small but very cute...just perfect and parking excellent...very safe and affordable and clean! All good!

Me and my boyfriend stayed 2 nights in Monterey and absolutely loved this hotel. Great value and really cool, modern decor. Our room (king suite) had a electric fireplace and a deck we could go sit out on, although you do share the deck with your neighbor. Our room also had a little living room with a couch, flat screen TV, fridge, microwave and coffee […] maker. It was about 10 minutes from Cannery row and right across from a shopping center, including a whole foods. They have a great breakfast spread in the morning until 10am. The staff was really friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay here again when we come back to Monterey. If you have a car, your also about 2.5 hours from San Francisco, which wasn't too bad. Customer service is what makes a hotel great and this hotel has great customer service. My original room was not what I had booked and the staff quickly fixed this mistake by upgrading me to a nicer room. The neighborhood is nice with a park and a huge shopping mall. I will be back.

Told the gal at yhe desk it was my husbands birthday...and she immediately hooked us up! Got a king suite with a loft, fireplace and two bathrooms! Awesome! Don't let the outside of this hotel fool you....rooms are great. Very basic breakfast though.

The hotel was very nice. We had our small dog with us. They are pet friendly, there is a small grassy area for pets, but the nightly charge for our dog was $40.00! We often travel with our dog who is well trained and a great traveller. I have never had to pay this much for a dog. It is usually about $15 to $20 per night. Was delighted with the desk clerk first of all and then our room was fabulous and the breakfast room was one of the best we've ever eaten in. We had a wonderful time at the Mariposa Inn. The room was beautiful and the pool area was pleasant. I recommend turning off the refrigerator if you aren't using it for the extra quiet. We will be coming back next time we are in town.

I have stayed here before but no in a dog friendly room. My preference is the Non-Dog Friendly rooms. The hotel rooms are amazing. From the outside it doesnt look like much but the Rooms are awesome. The only room that doesnt have that TLC is the Dog Friendly room. Oh Well, lesson learned.

This was my first stay at the Mariposa. I selected it from reading Trip Advisor reviews. It over delivered in all areas. I like the location that put me close to the Del Monte Mall and Whole Foods grocery store. It was a very easy drive to Cannery Row and other sites. The room was clean and comfortable. Very clean. Very affordable. A few minutes drive from the ocean. This hotel does allow pets. The room across from me had a barking dog. After about three hours of continuous barking, I told the hotel manager. I don't know what she said or did, but that dog never barked again! I very pleased.

Stayed here for the weekend conference. Only a mile to the Portola conference center. The breakfast was fine, clean, the room was good but we were on the ground floor in the corner and could hear all the parking lot noise and room above us. Besides this, the hotel was a good value for our needs. Would recommend...just bring your earplugs!

We like to stay in hotel rooms that have a separate sitting room with a close able door. We like to be able to put our son to bed and be able to stay up and watch tv or talk without disturbing him. Went to Monterey for the Jazz Festival, found the Mariposa to be well located, comfortable and nice amenities, including robes, water bottles, in room coffee, fireplace, comfortable king bed. Walls a little thin, but overall a very good buy for under $200 on Festival Weekend!

Simple, clean and to the point. Perfect for our golfing trip to Monterey. Standard breakfast though, but not far away from the main town to get eggs and bacon etc. If you just wanted to eat croissants and have coffee, then perfect! I was put in a room right behind the office. Tis must be the last room they put people in. Every car needs to go past and you can hear everyone as they walk on the second floor. Thankfully I had er plugs. The room itself was relatively clean, but the bathroom and sink area were shoddy. The bed was completely horrible. The BEST part - apparently they […] don't have sheets to fit he bed. I realized something was bunching up at my feet while I was sleeping. When I checked in the morning I saw that the sheets were CUT OFF at the feet so it was a bare mattress for the last foot or so. That's just pathetic. I didn't realize you could upload a picture or I would have taken one. I don't see why anyone would pay the prices this place charges when there are so many hotels in the area.
