From the valet to the front desk to the cleaning staff. They are all very nive. If you are within 10 feet of them they are checking on your stay. We have stayed here before and chose to stay here again for our aniversary. Grace at the front desk sent us a nice bottle of wine and some chocolates.

I was excited for the wine reception that was mentioned, only to find none. I assumed from the photos that the Hotel had some amenities, like a spa, hot tub or work out room. When I inquired about the soaking tubs I was told those are only in their deluxe suites or something. The room me and my companion got was a "deluxe" queen room located on the top floor, with a decent view of the apartments across the street, however the window was slanted at such an angle it made the room seem much much smaller (I'm not particularly big at 6 ft) and it was already pretty small to begin with; I will say though the automatic rolling blinds were a nice touch, although when closed it was slightly claustrophobic. The rooms decorating was very odd with a stuffed fabric star pattern head board above our bed, and star patterned carpeting that looked liked it belonged in a child's room. Also I was told that as a AAA member I would receive 50% off valet parking, when I checked out I was told that was not applicable because of how I had booked my room by a rater rude front desk lady, not having the time or inclination to argue about this, I did end up paying full price.

Hotel had great location. Staff was very friendly & room was very clean. The only thing I wished was better was the bed. It was not firm enough for me. Loved the nightly wine & snacks in the lobby.

We splurged for the 'Starlight' room on the 10th floor and were slightly disappointed to find it a tad pokey. Otherwise the whole experience was fantastic!

When we checked into the hotel we asked if our room had a view as we tend to get a room with a view of a brick wall. We were told, quite enthusiastically, that our room overlooked Broadway. Upon entering the room we discovered our "window" was in fact a skylight. We decided not to complain to the front desk because we were only there for 1 night and it wasn't THAT big of a deal but to be honest it was disappointing. Also, paying the extra money to get a room with a spa tub that was peeling and cracking didn't make me happy either. Overall the stay was great, the hotel location is perfect for wandering the city on foot. I know they're doing some renovating so maybe the tub issue will be addressed. I think training the front desk staff to read the layout maps a little better so they don't tell a guest they have a view when they don't would go a long way.

The sign in was easy. The room was clean and comfortable. Free wine in the evening... no tea or coffee as advertised. The Bathroom was a strange configuration, the towel rack was on the other side of the room from the shower. The beds were very comfortable. It was a nice splurge, however not sure it was really worth the extra expense.

Kimpton hotels are usually great. The location is great here, and most of the staff were great. They have dog beer for the evening wine hour, very nice for pet owners. This location though is a little less happy than other kimptons? Don't really know how to say it but the spark seems to have fizzled a bit. But I'd stay here again. No real complaints just not the usual Kimpton experience.

There isn't anything galmourous about a new cooling tower, new operable windows, modernized elevators, new systems and upgrades, but as we bring our second elevator back on line this week our guests will feel the difference in comfort and convenience. Only One elevator hasn't been much fun - for our staff - but in just hours we will be flying and fun again. I appreciate you mentioning it - because - it matters - Kimpton is fun and our guests have come to eagerly expect and andticipate that as a part of their stay. This may have been more background than necessary - but there are usually reasons for everything. The most important thing is that you let us know. Thank you so much! Our room service tray sat outside of our room for 24 hours. Wi-fi requires a survey to access...this is 2014, isn't it? $300 plus a night and you need to take a survey to get wi-fi. I have stayed in many hotels downtown, including this one before...not again. Over priced for the quality and service. Keep looking...you can do much better in downtown PDX.

This hotel is good to stay if you have dogs travelling with you, or a dog owner. Other than that, do not stay here unless you love dog smell. Our room has dog smell and it wasn't too clean. It's an older hotel so the rooms are not very well installated. You can here the next door neighbor foot steps, when they talk or sneezed. Did not have a good night sleep there. We will not stay there again.

With a great central location, this was a good place to walk downtown from. The porters knew the city well, and were very helpful in pointing us where to go, what to eat, and fun activities! Rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the soaking tubs in the Spa Suites were key.

Compared to the other Kimpton hotels that I have stayed at this was a rather disappointing stay. While the room was clean and everything was OK, for the money I paid I expected to have a great stay. The room itself had a view of the air conditioning units and was had a bizarre set up that made it seem much smaller than it actually was. I would not have been surprised to see a similar quality room at a hotel for half the price. The hotel itself just seemed off. In every other Kimpton that I have stayed at I paid about the same (or less) for the room and had a superior experience. I will not be going back to this hotel again (unless they shave $100 of the nightly rate) and would not recommend it.

Another good Kimpton experience. Enjoyed a nice dinner at the bar in Pazzo. One thing: parking is a problem. Choice is a city lot nearby for $20 or valet for $36. Seemed kind of high, although on a pretty reasonable room rate. Didn't mention this on the web site.

I am sorry that we surprised you, we don't aim to do that, Parking is something we charge for, as we actually have to rent spaces to provide the service to our guests. We do not charge in and out fees, you pay for one night at a time and come and go at your leisure and as often as you like, for no additional cost. The hotel was in a great location & for a good price, especially considering I booked less than a week before arriving. There is apparently a private bar but since I don't drink alcohol I didn't check out. The room was lovely & well kept & I really liked all the amenities, I am very sad that I didn't have more time so that I could have borrowed one of the complimentary bikes to take a tour around Portland that way. Only small issue was that since I was staying on the 4th floor there did seem to be a lot of street noise, especially in the very early hours of the morning!

I liked the central location of this hotel.It was very comfortable, except the bed was a little soft for me. Great hotel staff,very friendly.The restaurant is very good and the little adjoining lunch place was very convenient, but not open on Saturday or Sunday. It is only open until 3:00PM on week days. Nice lobby with a fireplace, free coffee on each floor in the morning and a free wine reception from 5-6 PM in the lobby.

This boutique style hotel is perfect for a special getaway. The evening wine reception in the hotel lobby was a great start to our night out. The Vintage Plaza beyond the lobby is a pretty standard hotel room. I stayed in a two queen room, the beds were average in comfort and the sheets were nothing special. The bathroom was also not as stocked as other Kimpton hotels I've stayed at, but again average and clean. The lobby was going through a renovation at the time and only had one working (and old) elevator with two out-of-place mini chandeliers in it. Overall this hotel is pretty average, especially compared to other Kimpton hotels in Portland such as the Monaco or the River Place.

I really enjoyed our stay at the Vintage Hotel. The location was perfect, we could walk almost anywhere which made the stay more enjoyable. The staff at the hotel were amazing. Jamie went out of her way to suggest different nightlife options for us. We didn't like paying $37 a day for parking at the hotel, but we understand that downtown parking is limited. They offer a great complimentary wine hour with unlimited amounts of wine and beer. The wifi is free, all you have to do is make an account, which is free, and you can avoid paying for the internet. This is also a great location for pet owners, as pets are welcomed with no extra charge. The rooms were really nice with great views, but it was a little on the small side. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Plaza Vintage Hotel.

The hotel was very nice. I picked this hotel because of the location and the ease of arriving from the airport from the MAX Light Rail. It is one block from the hotel and very easy to get to and from the airport. We did not rent a car, but I do believe there is a charge to park if you do have a car. The room was very nice, hotel staff was pleasant, and the location was great! We were able to walk to most everything we wanted to see and took a cab to everything else. (Rose garden, some mansion that was cool, and hiking trails for around $12 each way). Would stay again. Great for the price.

This is a great property and the staff is always amazing. They have unique rooms and excellent food! Only draw back is one of the elevators is having maintenance and that slows down the morning a bit when you're waiting to get downstairs, but on the positive I had the opportunity to meet many fellow business travels in the elevator! Once the elevator is fixed and they say it will be soon, the hotel will be back to its 5 rating!

My wife and I stayed at the vintage plaza for our anniversary. The staff were very freindly and accommodating. The room was very nice. There was some construction during our stay and one of the elevators was out of service. Overall a great stay

Hotel was in great location we were able to walk everywhere and were close to several tri-max stations. The room even though the deluxe king was rather small, but that was fine since we weren't there very long. When we first got to the room it was very stuffy and we ad to open a window, which was difficult since it only opened an inch. The hotel was under some construction, but that did not really affect our stay apart from one elevator being down. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the wine hour was a nice touch.

I don't think I can really blame the Vintage Plaza Hotel for my dissatisfaction. I think it's more hotels.com since that's who I booked through. I got a good deal on a room for a leisure trip from Sunday thru Tuesday. I have stayed at Hotel Monaco which is also a Kimpton hotel and I absolutely loved it so I thought the Vintage Plaza was going to be something similar, especially with their ratings in other reviews. So two nights, $272. Not bad. My boyfriend and I got into Portland a little early and they let us check in early which is great. I can't remember the name of the woman who checked us in, but she was very friendly and helpful. We were on the 8th floor in a "Hawk's Eye Room". Now in my confirmation email from hotels.com, they said, "this room over looks the city..." Well. Maybe that would have been the case, but the only natural light we got in our room was from an oversized skylight. We had no view of the city... Or maybe we did, you just couldn't see it. The hotel didn't seem busy, and it's my fault for not saying anything to the desk about possibly switching rooms. The other thing I was a little annoyed with was that we didn't get our room cleaned the second day. We took our do-not-disturb sign off the door no later than 10 am, and no one came by all day while we were out. I would say about 4 pm we received a call asking if we needed anything before they sent the maids home for the day. I asked why they didn't clean our room and they said because we had the sign on the door. I didn't argue, I figured by 4 pm, we didn't need our bed made anymore. The location was great, close to the pearl district and easy to get to the east side from there. It seemed like there was a bit of construction going on in the lobby and one of the elevators wasn't working. Overall, it was ok. But if I choose a kimpton, I think I'll go back to hotel Monaco.

My husband and I were out to celebrate a little much needed time away from our kids...well most of them anyway. We brought our six month old daughter with us. From the second we walked in the service was lacking. We were checked in by a woman that could use some customer service training and most of the staff's attire was also lacking. We stayed in one of the penthouse starlight rooms thinking it was an upgraded room but if it was I would hate to see what the rest of the rooms are like! The room was VERY dated. It was one of those rooms that just feels dirty. My daughter wanted to crawl but we kept her on the bed because the floor was not an option. Overall, the hotel was just very disappointing. Even the service at their on-site restaurant, Pazzo, was terrible. We weren't even shown to our table. The host just yelled to us after setting our table and waved us over with his hand. Bottom line is that I would not stay here ever again nor would I recommend it to anyone. It is priced as a luxury hotel but feels like a Motel 6 in a nice location. Stay somewhere else. Don't waste your money! Or in our case, our once a year date away from our kids.

This is an old hotel in downtown Portland that we picked because it is dog friendly. They did not charge for the dog which was nice and the staff was very friendly. The room itself was tiny, we got the deluxe king and paid at least $250 for the room and $37 for parking. I know staying in cities is expensive but to have a room and bathroom that are so tiny 2 people can barely move around in for that price seems a bit much. When we got there they gave us a room and then the manager came out and changed it, never sure why, if it was the dog or because we got it on Expedia instead of through them. If you are going to Portland I would recommend looking around. Everything about this hotel was small, the room, the bathroom, the lobby and the check in area. If you can get this hotel for a good price then it wouldn't be a bad deal.

And our room was on the very small side; however, the other two rooms which our party had were very nice sized.

The Hotel Staff was delightful, especially as I was traveling alone. They were very helpful. Loved the downstairs sitting areas, and that the staff servied wine in the early eveining. The Hotel was in a great location in the City, which was nice. They are also dog friendly, which I like. I will definately return, as I go to Portland several times a year.

This was our second time staying at the Vintage Plaza while in town for a sporting event. The hotel is well located for exploring downtown Portland. The front desk staff was pleasant and welcoming, as was the front door staff. The afternoon wine reception is a nice touch. The hotel is older, but is kept up well. The rooms can be a bit noisy due to the age of the hotel, and one of the two elevators was out of order for maintenance the entire time we were there, but these were not enough of an issue to ruin the stay. The bar in the hotel is very comfortable with a great selection of local wines, microbrews and cocktails. Would definitely recommend this charming hotel as a great place to stay.

My sisters and I went to celebrate my sister's birthday in Portland and thought a Kimpton property would be the perfect place. The location was great but the staff leaves a lot to be desired. At check they were condescending and snide. The happy hour is literally just one hour. One minute late and you've missed it. The appetizers were one small plate that might have offered a taste to four people, not a room full. There were no refills. We stayed three nights. The second day, the hotel staff didn't come to clean the room until after 3pm. It appeared as though they did nothing more than pull up the bed covers. When we complained to the front desk, they sent the staff back to finish the job, but really should we have to ask? At a Kimpton property?

I hope you will give us another try. I read your review and want you to know that I was sorry to hear you missed our hosted managers reception, which is at the same time at all Kimpton hotels, from 5-6 every night. I also wanted you to know why your room was done after 3 pm. We do our stay over rooms after check outs on the weekends, unless requested earlier. The window is narrow on Saturday and Sunday, as our guests often want to stay until they have to leave, (check out time noon) and our new guests checking in arrive early . It is a balancing act at times for our amazing room attendants. If you ever want it done earlier, just let us know the window that is convenient. Exactly what we ordered! Wife and I wanted to have a post-Valentine's Day getaway (ahem...away from the kids....ahem) and decided to splurge. The Melting Pot for dinner and a comfy hotel room with a jetted tub. The Vintage Plaza fit the bill and was fairly close to the Melting Pot. It was quite, comfortable (not a huge room, but didn't expect it to be), and the tub was great. There were a few small stains on the carpet, but only noticeable if you were looking for them. The mini fridge didn't work at all, but fortunately we just had a box of leftovers that we took the front desk for them to put in their fridge overnight. I could have made a stink about it, but opted not to. The hotel only has ice machines on odd floors, so if you're on an even floor, you have to go up or down for ice. Instead of using the hotel parking , we opted to use the parking garage across the street from the hotel entrance and saved a chunk of money.

We have to dine out every night and we got left over. But the room we have has no microwave, so we asked the front desk if they can provide a microwave for us. They managed to find one (a little beat up but was in working condition) for us and the left over was not wasted. We were very pleased with their services. We don't think that it is usual that their customers asked for microwave for the room.

When I stayed they had no WiFi, which on a biz trip is a deal breaker. No discount, coupons, or offer of something for that missing piece. There was also construction in the front of the hotel that seemed like it started at dawn with jack hammering...that was awful. Again, above average hotel, nice room. With working WiFi and no construction waking me up 3.5 - 4 stars. My stay, however was 2 stars.

It is a very nice hotel but at a deficit while one of two elevators is under maintenance. I would suggest that they simply have free wifi without the requirement if signing up for Kimpton- or fold that into the procedure of getting online (versus noting a price for non-kimpton rewards guests) .
