So, first, what is good about it: close to the American University and sea view across the street. What is aweful about it: location: the hotel is in a security area. I tried to take a picture downstairs of the Beirut Lighthouse and was chased off by Lebanese soldiers. There is no nice restaurants in this part of town. You need to take a cab for 10 […] minuts to go the jazzy Restaurants. Closest one is calls The Lamb House and is not bad but nothing to write home about either as it is the only choice. Amenities: The "Free Wireless Internet" is only in lobby. To get WiFi at the room it will cost you $5 per five hours of use. That is misleading advertising. The room was clean and as promised had sea view from fourth floor. I asked the staff for a wake up call, but no one called and I almost missed my flight as a result. The hotel is used by a huge group of Iraqi army officers staying for months in Beirut, Lebanon I am told. The soldiers were involved in a big scuffle when they clashed with locals when someone was caught hitting on a girl then drama ensued. Would I go there again? Not really. I should have paid a bit more and go toward the Najmeh Square. I am disappointed with the location. Read more

well to be honest i like the hotel but i booked 2 rooms one for 2 and the other for 3 pepole the room was soo small we could not do anything other than just jumb to bed no room to walk what so ever the view was nice right on the beach and the resturant has great food

6/15/2011- 6/18/2011 We were told by family who live in the area that the rooms were very poorly maintained and the only good thing was the sea side pool area, so we attempted to call before hand, but were told they would call us back in 5 minutes, and we never recieved a call ( very unprofessional) We decided to purchase the Deluxe Corner Sea View […] room, which is better than the basic room. But it seems they have been remodeling over the last few years and some rooms are not yet remodeled. Upon arrival I felt like these old rooms were reserved "hotels.com customers".( i attempted to persuade the front desk clerk to give us the remodeled rooms, but he was not willing) I was not that concerned about this until we actually got in the room. there were stains splattered on thew all ( looked like soda or wine) the carpet was sticky ( at least they gave us free slippers) smelled like smoke ( it was a non- smoking room) and the corner sea view that we paid extra for was covered by trees that were growing from under our balcony ( Do not pay extra for the corner sea view!) and even if the room was a higher level you still could not consciously leave your balcony door open because the corner balconies are attached to the adjoining rooms, anyone can see into your room( or climb over the rail into your room) So I had to keep the curtains closed the entire stay .... and one of my favorite things about staying in Lebanon is leaving my windows open any getting the night sea breeze. I felt very cheated this was $65 more a night than other hotels ( nicer hotels) in the area... stay elsewhere and pay the $20 fee to use their sea side pool area ( The pool area is very very nice) I will Not stay here again, but if you do, make sure you know which option is the remodeled rooms. ( i do not think that this hotel should even rent the old rooms until they have been remodeled) Read more

The hotel is gorgeous! The view is breathtaking. The free breakfast is magnificent. The staff is incredibly helpful. When the pool is open, I can only imagine the fun families and couples could have there! It is convenient and relaxing!

I don't usually write reviews of hotels I stay at, but since there were no reviews of this hotel on Expedia, I went there unsure of what to expect. From the moment I walked in the door, disappointment. I arrived at about 2 in the morning and a young hip hop kid was at the front desk, not much help and it seemed like I was really bothering him checkinig […] in. Then I went up to my sea side room, WOW, nasty. I keep my back pack on my back because I did not think I would actually spend the night there. The carpets had hugh stains all over the place, paint missing off the walls, tiny room, it was really hot in the room and the doorman that came up to the room with me went to turn on the AC and the nob fell off the wall and onto the floor, he laughed and stuffed it back on sideways... Anyway, I'm standing in the room thinkiing what now...a sea side room means your on the side of the building and you "can see down the side of the building to see the sea", leason learned. There are no fire places in the building at all. No outside food or beverages allowed "strictly not allowed". There is no private beach, it is a restaurant and pools, but no beach for the Riviera. The place is a mess, if you walk bare foot in the room, the bottoms of your feet will be sticky and black from the carpet in about 3 minutes. I quickly learned not to ask for any help in directions/sights to see...from the staff, no help at all, there is only the feeling of "how can the hotel get all my money..." Read more

Charming hotel and staff. There are much more lavish hotels however the staff were very professional, helpful and nice. The Riviera beach bar is still the best place in the city to chill in the sun so that is a big plus for the hotel as it is free entry and connected to the hotel otherwise costing £16 entry. Like I said there are other much more fancy […] hotels, the nicest being Intercontinental Phoenicia which is also in a much more upper end location so if that is what you want then go there. The hotel is going through some modernisation at the moment, and even though our room had not been done yet it was still spacious, clean and comfortable and overall very pleasant, with a lovely balcony overlooking the sea (and unfortunately a very busy main road). The main good point to this hotel, was the 'beach club'. There are no actual beaches […] along the waterfront in central Beirut, therefore beachclubs are created (effectively an area created on the sea (pontoon) with swimming pools and sunbeds etc). From walking past the other clubs, the Riveira was by far the best - it had a very luxourious feel and free to use (v expensive to visit if you were not part of the hotel). There were 3 pools, lots of subeds in differnet guises (altough we were never sure what areas we were and were not allowed to sit in!), so kept to the main areas. There was a DJ every afternoon, playing loud dance music which was quite good, if not a little too loud for relaxing! Weekends were the busist by far as the public would turn up, but plenty of beds for all as long as you are there by 11am. The downside to the location of hotel was the lack of restaurants in the area - a few, but otherwise you had to taxi to downtown ($10 USD each way), for 5 min ride. Overall i would recommend if you want to relax for a few days. Read more

Reviera pool was one of the best pools/beach to me in Beirut. Although this is the first time I experience living at the same hotel. It was really good, didn't complain from anything! The hotel is extremly old and not well maintained, carpets are filthy, the room equipments are all out of order( hairdryer, mirror, safety box) the bed matress and cover are poor quality. L'hotel quand on y arrive parait jolie, il est bien placé, en face de la corniche et pas loin du hamra, j'ai eu le droit à une chambre double au 2eme etage, et rien qu'en y arrivant et bien on sent que la chambre ne va pas etre luxueuse, ce qui a été le cas, chambre petite, sale, moquette qui n'a du jamais connaitre l'aspirateur tellement pleine de […] tache et collante, brulé par le tabac, clim qui fait un bruit horrible (meme à l'arret), couvre lit dechiré et trou de cendre cigarette, sbd correct rien a dire propre et tout marche. facture telephone ultra cher pour un appel local de 2mn et un appel vers la france 3mn (oui j'ai halluciné mais bon) piscine, resto nikel rien a dire, ptit dej buffet rien d'extraordinaire mais bon y'a ce qu'il faut, et la carte pour le midi est bonne et varié et pas cher (moins cher que le telephone depuis la chambre) cet hotel ne vaut donc ni un 3 ou 4 etoile la chambre ou j'etait c'est plus digne d'un 1 etoile voire d'une auberge. on a quand meme vu que des travaux de renovation etait en cours mais plus pour les chambre haut standing que les autres à mon avis. bref deception totale pour le riviera qui est connu mondialement et dont tous le monde en faisait l'eloge, je comprend aussi pourquoi certaines agence de voyage en france ont retiré de leurs catalogue cet hotel Read more
