We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ambasciatori. The service was superb and the front desk was always willing help with everything we needed. Location was great, right next door to the Hard Rock Cafe and other local restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ambasciatore Palace Friendly and Convenient"
This is a lovely, relatively small, Italian style hotel. The rooms are clean and quiet and Tte staff is very friendly and helppful. The location on the Via Veneto, next to far more expensive hotels, could not be better. For the price, it cannot be beaten.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Amb.. on via veneto"
The room was toosmall and the bed too hard. Also alittle too far away from everything. However breakfast was good and the staff was friendly and helpful with a problem with maintenance in room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was very small and did not include a chair. This was not the room we paid for (a single vs. a double) and only realized it when we got home. The tub/shower had no shower curtain/door and the floor was soaked after each shower use. Some of the staff were haughty, while others were wonderful, polite, and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place to be. Great location and good price. Staff generally helpful. Room small but to be expected in Rome. Wonderful breakfast. Nice breakfast room, and very good choices of food.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First, know that the Italian 5 star rating means that rooms meet certain dimensions, have bathrooms in the rooms and 24 hr intl desk staff. It says nothing about service, and the service is awful. There was always a long line at reception, or a long hold when calling, often the lobby was crowded with room-less tour guests. No wifi in the rooms, unless […] you happen to be right above the access point (apparently). Dirty, stained rooms, (I had 2 as they initially put me in a smoking room) old TVs. The chandelier in my room was hanging precariously by a thread and the AC didn't work. On the day of checkout they will harass you starting before 8AM until you leave. They come at 8 to check if you've consumed any of the 7euro water from the minibar. 3stars, max by intl standards. the only thing to recommend it is the location. "Ambasciatori Palace - Rome, Italy"
Overall, we were satisfied. Everyone was friendly, especially the Concierge and the Breakfast Room staff. During the day, the A/C did not cool the room as well as in the evening. One day, we were out in the morning and returned at 2:00pm only to find out that our room still had not been made up. We assumed the hotel was short-handed since we did see […] the maid cleaning other rooms. Location was OK even though it was a longer walk to the sights than at other hotels I stayed at in the past. The room could have used a painting. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Ambasciatori -- World Class"
This hotel is excellent, situated in the nicer part of Rome right across from the American embassy but within easy walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and other sights. The rooms are big and comfortable, the amenities nice, and breakfast each morning is FANTASTIC. The staff are extremely helpful and always available. Highly recom […] mend. "Ambasciatori Palace Hotel in Rome"
Very spacious room with view to Via Venetto. Our bed sheets were made out of linen, the baby's sheets were hand embroidered, the bathroom was super spacious, the concierge gave us recommendations to great restaurants, very friendly staff. The restaurant across the street is fantastic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"So not a five star hotel!"
We booked this hotel because it was listed as a five star, but as soon as we walked through the door we were disapointed. Our first room had discolored wallpaper (mold/water damage), mildew in the bathroom, and outdated decor. When we spoke with the front desk we were told not to think about the five-star rating - that there were many hotels in the […] area that were a lot nicer but more expensive. They did move us to a better room, but what we really wanted was our money back so we could have the vacation we had been dreaming about. They didn't even have an Iron we could use! I had planned a weekend to Rome for my partner as a surprise 50th bjrthday and had pretty much decided on the 5 star hotel when I saw Expedia's promotion to pick blind this 5 star hotel and have a great saving! I thought it sounded like a bit of fun and how exciting - I chose the area I wanted decided why not it will be 5 star as I am used to wonderful […] 5 star hotels. Chose the mystery hotel and was horrified to read all the terrible reviews. At this point it was too late - I was too embarrassed to say anything to my partner and hoped for the best! We arrived and the first thing the checkin clerk said was "breakfast isn't included" again embarrassed I let it go - although I was pretty sure in the Expedia promotion it said buffet breakfast. Room was disappointing - bed was comfortable location was good but definitely not 5 star. If I would have known it was a three star i'm sure I wouldn't have been disappointed I truly think Expedia should look into these hotels before they promote them as 5 star - never ever choose one of these promotions they are not what they say Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, modern room, shame about the lifts"
Location is excellent, half way up the Via Veneto, next door to the Hard Rock Cafe. We requested a renovated room before we got there and they did reserve one for us. I don't know what the un-renovated rooms are like but the one we had was excellent. Very modern, very comfortable, nice bathroom, a safe in the room, big TV etc. 5-10 minute walk to the […] Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. Metro stop at the bottom of the road. Very disappointing. Our room wasn't a five star accommodation. Dirty scratched walls mould in the bathroom internet not working. We felt that because we haven't paid full price we have been put in worst room.Genuine Expedia guest review

Nice stay and excellent team and service. The furniture inside the rooms is old and not matching the hotel rate and price. But in general it was nice stay specially the location of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Basic & tired hotel - deserves less than 3 stars"
The hotel is tired and basic. It is utterly incomprehensible how the hotel qualifies for a 5 star rating. The room was so basic, scuffed walls, with simple amenities and basic toiletries. The air conditioning also did not work. In the UK the hotel would struggle to qualify for 3 stars, let alone 4. The restaurant too looked tired. The only redeeming […] feature was the friendliness of the staff (reception and porter) on check in. The location is great though on Via Veneto. However I would recommend one of the other hotels further up the hill instead where I have stayed before. It is definitely not worth your money or time to stay in the Ambasciatori Hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone except budget travellers expecting budget accommodation at a budget price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great stay at the Ambasciatori Palace Hotel"
Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by wonderful staff that were very happy to see us. The hotel was beautiful and we were shown around and taken to our rooms. Anytime we passed by the front desk the staff said hello, how was your day, tour and asked if there was anything they could do for us. the room was very neat and nicely decorated, the bed […] was very comfortable. "Full of character but needs updating"
Great location. Really central and we walked to nearly all the sites except the Vatican. The Hotel fits into the surroundings as it is 100 years old and full of character. The room was a bit jaded, but somehow that didn't matter as it seemed warm and friendly. The staff were very friendly and helpful. "Great location Hotel!"
The Hotel is Ok, Old but reasonable well kept, lifts slow, only two for many people, the first room was shown was very bad and we rejected it, and was given a better room with a balcony, unfortunatle there was a ventilation chimny next to the balcony by the balcony smelled of chips from the Hard Rock caffee and rained black rain from cooking oil over […] the outside furniture, making it impossible to sit outside. My brother arrived a day later and asked for a room at least as good as mine and was give a nice room with a clean balcony, where we sat out most evenings! We will stay in the Hotel again, if promised a better room. Room 608 No good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Could do better."
This hotel was advertised as a 5* but really only warranted 3-4.It's location on the Via Veneto is very central for most attractions. The first night we were put in a room on the fourth floor at the back of the hotel. The room was bare and featureless and unlike any 5* we have previously stayed in. It was also not particularly clean. The wallpaper was […] badly scuffed and the whole room needed a makeover. It was also very noisy due to the lap dancing club on the opposite side of the road! There was also the sound of drilling and hammering from further along the corridor during the afternoon. We complained next morning and were immediately moved to a room at the front of the hotel on the second floor. This room was in better condition although the bath had a patch of tape sealing the bottom near the plughole. The concierge desk was often unattended but the staff on the front desk were helpful. The waiters were pleasant at breakfast and this was good with plenty of variety. All things considered it was not awful, just not as a five star establishment should be. Would I recommend this to a friend? Not at this price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Worst experience of the trip."
The stay at the Abasciatori Palace was my worst experience I ever had staying at hotels. The initial selection process through Expedia initially showed the Abasciatori as being such an awesome deal that Expedia would not show the name of the hotel without one accepting the room as a booking. I felt based on the price point of the reservations we would […] have an excellent room in downtown Rome. Expedia had shown it as a 5 Star hotel. This was not the case. We were initially placed in the smallest available room with an inner view of a unkept court yard. The room had a queen size bed and barely enough room to get around in the room. We had little or no room for our luggage. Upon complaints with the front desk we were placed in a larger room with a beautiful view of what can only be described as a back alley to a local strip club. While trying to move rooms the Concierge proceeded to drag our luggage down the hall way (instead of rolling them on their wheels) all the while acting in a very rude manner. I expected a porter to come up and reload our baggage onto a troly and move things. Each night as the club closed we were awaken by druken individuals coming out of the Strip Club. The best rating I would give the hotel would be 3 stars. Poor location, Old worn furniture in the rooms. The morning breakfast was fine and all those involved with service at the breakfast were good. "A memorable experience for the right reasons"
We stayed for five nights during May, we were aware of some of the adverse reports on Tripadvisor but we very much enjoyed our stay at the Ambasciatori Palace. The location was perfect for the Berberino Metro & a pleasant 15min walk to the Trevi Fountain & Spanish Steps. The concierge was extremely helpful with recomending local restaurants, bar prices […] are high but that's typical for Rome & the breakfasts were excellent; we didn't use the hotel restaurant for dinner as we preferred to try the local cusine. The staff were very friendly & helpful so overall based on our experience I would recommend this hotel. I don't belive it has a gym or pool but that didn't concern us. "Five-star? No way."
I booked this hotel as a gift but I was shocked to find the rooms small and the fact that the back part of the hotel overlooked a strip club and all the noise associated with it was not agreeable. On the other hand the staff were friendly and polite and the rooms were clean. But the hotel is not what I would call a five-star hotel - four-star at best. Lovely staff, very friendly. Spotlessly clean, but a little run down. Could use a face lift as many hotels in Europe could. For sure it doesn't deserve the category of 5*L HOTEL. Beside the kindness of the staff, the hotel is very old and in my bathroom it started to rain, probably from the upper floor. "Hotel in Rome"
I had a very bad situation when I arrived, following a long flight from Singapore and the hotel reception staff were very helpful. I found the Breakfast Room staff very helpful and friendly. "Good Hotel (but)"
This is an excellent hotel, the staff very helpful and both Marco and Georgia (the evening bar staff) are the best we have found. There was piano in the bar but no one to play it - perhaps hotel would think about this one! The room and bathroom were large and comfortable; the breakfast was good (but do not like runny scrambled eggs) but on occasion […] a little slow to serve the coffee! The only mayor complaint was that all the Sky service in the hotel failed on the Wednesday and when we left on the following Tuesday it was still broken! Under normal circumcises it would not have mattered, however it was the semi-final of the rugby world cup Wales v France on the Saturday and Marco managed to find an Irish Pub in Rome for us to see the game! Electricity in the hotel had to be cut due to maintenance on the Wednesday what pity that a quality hotel did not check that all services were all working! The friendliness and service from the staff was excellant which made the rather grimy hotel just about tolearable, a pity really as the location was great and very convenient. "Great location - easy access to so many things"
We stayed for four nights and loved it. We had a very efficient but also friendly welcome. We were pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of our room on the fifth floor. The view wasn't great but it was large and comfortable. Breakfast was included in our deal and it was excellent. With the exchange rate as it is, breakfast outside can be quite […] costly. The Ambasciatori Palace provided an ample selection of fruit, cereals, cold meats, pastries, cheese and a small selection of hot items. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were available but the fruit juices did taste as though they had been watered down. All in all it was a very good experience and I would definitely stay there again. I was very disappointed with this hotel. Although it was rated a 5 star hotel, I would only give it a 3 star. When you walk into the lobby it is grand, however, the room was extremely disappointing.
