Hotel was conveniently located, friendly service, secure, gretat pool deck and restaurant. I had a great ocean view. Rooms are basic, getting a little worn. would stay again.

We had not been to Rio before. Next time we would stay in Ipanema but the hotel was okay. Very outdated and needs renovating. They did get us on the 10th floor which helped. Concierge was fantastic!

Did not meet expectations. Definetly not a four star property. Ocean front rooms have great views, but the rooms are dated and need renovation .Nice lobby and 30th floor bar and sitting areas- great all round view. Friendly staff, extensive buffet breakfast.

The Rio Othon Palace is a great location-middle of Copacabana beach. Got there on the 12/23 at 7 am, my 2 kids and their partners were arriving at 11 AM. Upon check -in Daniel helped us-love his professionalism and friendly and respectful attitude. We were on the 22nd floor. All of our rooms had views of the Copacabana Beach, the hills with all the […] lovely buildings and some of the Sugar Loaf! It was wonderful sight!!! Beds were very clean and fresh, mattresses so comfortable (better than any other hotel bed!) Breakfast was included and it had a good selection. Restaurant in the 30th floor has an amazing view of the Copacabana Beach. Swimming pool on the 30th floor was small with few sun beds. Hotel has the best location for beach, you get your towel, lounge and umbrella right on the sand, can order your lunch, fresh cold coconut and relax the day away! Plenty of cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, book stores, etc. Could not be better. Right on the beach in the middle of the strip. There is even a supermarket 2 blocks away .Breakfast was good. Diana got us in an amazing Italian restaurant. She took care of our other reservations for the following several day! We have stayed in the Pestana Atlantica and Cesar Park and 100% will stay in the Rio Othon next time, as we liked it better, and found the Rio Othon offering better quality accommodations and attractions! This was a nice hotel. Me and my wife went to Rio for one night. The hotel is kind of old, but the view to the beach and the location are great! We spent hours looking for an hotel and realized that the price is kind the same of other hotels in the area. Really nice staff, free chair and umbrella at copacabana. Good breakfast.

I think this hotel is an outstanding value. The location is excellent. Rooms have sliding doors that look out over Avenida Atlantica and Copacabana Beach. The hotel is located at a good location just across the beach. Breakfast buffet has a good spread of food but can get really crowded and noisy. Overall service was OK but will rate it as poor. Lobby wifi is free but can't seem to connect and reception counter staff was unwilling to help resolve the problem.

I was able to see all of the major sights, spend a day at the beach, get some amazing pictures of the sunrise and sunset and do a little shopping all within a 48-hour time period. I took the 8-hour tour, but I think the 5-hour tour may have been sufficient and given a little extra time to do more things. the hotel itself is pretty basic with no frills. However, it was certainly adequate, the view from the front rooms is gorgeous, the pool area with bar and restaurant is nice, and the location is perfect. We never had the breakfast so can't comment. Hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Like many hotels in Rio, also this one is rather expensive for what you get. Our Superior Ocean front room looked dated, despite a recent upgrade, and the hotel's wireless internet is the worst. The hotel is the tallest building on Copacabana, so you have really great views from the top floor by the roof-top swimming pool. The gym is outsourced, and is not free. Internet is also charged for. All had ocean views, you could see Pao de Acucar (Sugarloaf) from some of the rooms, the views were wonderful. We did have problems with the air conditioner in one room and they moved us immediately. Again, if you're used to a US style/rating for hotels, DEMAND a room on floor 22 or higher. We stopped at most all floors to check out the layout of the rooms and floor aesthetics. You can tell which rooms and floors having the new look, design, and feel. We had a room on the 26th floor and was pleased with it, and relative to the area it was really […] nice. Great water pressure, in-room safe, great beach view/mountain view (deluxe room with ocean view). nice size bed. clean floor and sheets. the only drawback was the sliding patio door was completely sealed to the frame so a fly/gnat could easily get in. the tv in our room was ok, but you dont really care about this since you're in Rio, right? :) I suspect all bad reviews came from below the 22nd floor. There was concierge, doormen, and multiple security personnel 24 hrs/day. Felt VERY safe although my wife and I never had that concern (my wife is very concerned with safety). Staff was more than accommodating to help at any point. Chances are there will be no early check-in or late check-out (beyond 1pm courtesy) because it's appears to be always full. Very comfy waiting area and plenty of restaurants near by! you get free use of beach chairs/umbrellas (othon brand!) with your stay. The buffet breakfast is ok at best, but it comes with the stay as far as we know. again, that's not why you're there :) This hotel is a great stay. we had a great time even while dealing with the neighboring smokers. :) I must repeat this - relative to US 4 star hotel it's not, but to the area it's one of the tops. Only 2-3 other hotels compare to it or top it. We'd recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay on the Copacabana side of Rio. it's in the middle of everything! I had such a hard time to check in at Rio Othon Palace Hotel. First, they didn't want release my room due to missing my son and myselt document with photo identification number . I mentioned that Hotel should send me a message about it, however, they said is not their job, it would be Expedia responsability. Also, I had reserved 2 rooms with 2 beds […] and 1 king size. However, they said Rio Othon Palace Hotel doesn't guarantee any reservation, depend on the availability. Finally, after a lot complains, they decided to give a room as I reserved. The room wasn't that clean, the refrigerator was dirty and TV was too old. The shower drain was plugged, I had to call 3 times for the maintance, they took a long time to come to the room to unplugged it. For starters, the picture on the site was very misleading. Our room was much smaller and plain. The view, from the 27th floor, was spectacular, but not worth the price. Breakfast was good, and the location was near perfect. The plain and dated decor, along with the weak air conditioning and the ants in the bathroom were big letdowns. The "underground […] beach tunnel" is actually a side exit that leaves you further from the beach than the main exit. Add to that the 20 reais charge for use of the gym and this place became a lot less palacial. We did not had a warm welcome, our flight got in at 5 am so we got to the hotel at 6 am, looking forward to get some sleep. The guy in the front desk told us that we had gotten there late and that they did not have our rooms available anymore (we booked the hotel for two nights, the first night is the one finishing that morning and we had one more […] night to go!) It seemed to me that they could try to sell our rooms at a better rate, he even mentioned moving us to another Othon Hotel nearby.... finally upon our insistance we got our rooms but this was after battleling with the guy for over 45 minutes. Room is OK, nothing fancy but OK, breakfast is great, view is really nice, eventhough this was not a front view room. Service from the Hotel workers is poor. Bad luck with maintenance because there was supposed to be a shut down on the hot water system, instead we did not have water and had to check out at 4:00 am because of travel schedule. If you go on vacation and get to Rio after a decent flight, I will recomend it, if going on business it did not get even close to our expectations! Read more
