Was very disappointed to be told upon arrival that my room did not even have a bed, only a sofa sleeper. I was there for my 10 year anniversary for my wife and this started our trip off on the wrong foot. The person working the front desk was very rude about it and said that it happens frequently, which makes me think they should change their website, […] so I asked him to get a manager. The resort covers a large area and is quite spread out; so you better enjoy walking or plan to use the hotel service for your luggage. There was not a single staff member that didn't act as though we were troubling them to do their job such as at check in and out, restaurants, and even the concierge. The stay was great. The staff was mostly friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful with all the Christmas decor, lights, displays and trees still in place. We spent over an hour just walking around the hotel looking and taking pictures. Get a room that over looks the Cascades area. Its' proximity to the mall was so good we just walked across the parking lot to explore. My only issue is that when checking, in I was told our room contained only a sofa-bed. And for 4 people this was not acceptable. We got an "upgrade" for an extra $50 a night. Disappointed with hotel. Shuttle to main attraction-downtown was expensive. Nickeled and dimed. Stay Downtown! And go visit Gaylord for lunch-dinner is usually a long wait. When we got there, the bell hop told us to give him our ticket and he would bring up our luggage...after 1:30 minutes we called down to find out the problem to which the main bell desk said they would talk to our hop because that was not the right way to handle things....30 minutes later I took it upon myself to get my own luggage from the bell stand […] after no response....our first night there were kids running up and down the halls and knocking on our door, the next night we requested towels and at our door was the clerk with a pillow and a role away bed....the day of our departure, we called the bell stand as we were told to do and our car would be brought up and that day they said they could. As a tourist attraction, this place is an amazing experience... but the hotel fails at every basic function of being a hotel. House cleaning didn't even clean the room on my second day by 4pm. After calling the front desk, they assured me that someone would be up to clean it by 6pm. I had to call a THIRD time to get house cleaning done, which is absurd. "Perfect All-in-One Getaway!"
This hotel had such a resort feel. We parked our car and did not have to move it until we checked out. We had so many restaurants to choose from, and we enjoyed just walking around the hotel and looking at the lights. The riverboat was fun for us and the kids. Extra fees for just being a guest there. There was a 21.00 car free for each car parked. The fire alarm went off at 2 am for 15 mins before the staff told us it was a false alarm. Everything about the hotel was great except the valet parking - what a confused mess. It was always a mass of confusion any time we went to retrieve or park our car; however, on the day we went to leave, they could not locate our car. I had to stalk people to get any progress updates and I was, quite frankly, beginning to get worried that our car had […] vanished from the premises. The finally located it and brought it to us 1.5 hours later. I was just so happy they found the car that I didn't bother to hang around and lodge a complaint, but in hindsight I wish I had. It wasn't only the fact that our car was misplaced - I get it that things happen - but that I could not seem to get anyone's complete attention and did not have any confidence that someone was actually looking into it. Food is okay but you need to expect hotel pricing. The room is fine, but the bedding is not comfortable. It was ok! Had lots of trouble getting the cleaned and ask to speak with Manager and said she would be right back and never returned or responded to me! Most of management was very uncaring about my concerns all they would say is sorry for that which seems to happen a lot! But I guess you have so many people checking in and out it does not matter if […] anyone came back or not. The valet parking you charged me 28.00 a day for is real joke several times I call for my car to be brought down and would have to wait 30 minutes and would check to see why and they never sent the message for it to be brought down. The morning we left call for the car to be brought down way ahead of time before the bell guy pick op luggage get down stairs and car not there he checked and they said they never got the message. The bell guy said its always been a problem. It was 5:30am it should not have been a problem at 28.00 per day plus tax and tips. Get the car back each time seat has been moved radio have been changed Etc. Which they should not bother anything in personal vehicles. I could go on and on but I an sure its not worth my time because it will be on deaf ear and all we will get is I am sorry or no response. Please change the major problem u have going on and charge for outside guest to come in and view hotel because there are a lot of slums that come and go at free will which is unsafe and very hard for guest to enjoy their stay because there is wall to wall outside guest.
