The hotel is absolutely beautiful but so massive that it is difficult to navigate. Rooms are adequate but nothing special. If only I had read some of the previous reviews BEFORE booking this overpriced hotel! The interior grounds are lovely and this is what you are paying for. Better idea in my opinion, would be to come here for a "Day Trip" (their breakfast buffet is wonderful, albeit expensive!) and pay the $22.00 parking fee, (you'll pay for this EXTRA as a hotel guest […] too) tour the interior garden areas for photo Ops and then stay somewhere else for a whole lot less money. I would never stay at this hotel again. We waited in line to register for an hour. When we finally registered, we requested to be by the pool to use that evening. We were placed in a room the furthest possible place from the pool that was open in the evening. Beautiful interior- we've never stayed in a hotel like this. There were thousands of trees and plants, waterfalls, and a boat ride that was all inside. Took an hour to check in as line was long and they were under staffed. When checked in they mentioned that room keys were very sensitive which was understatement. We had to get keys replaced twice after having spent day out and coming back exhausted to find they didn't open door. I travel frequently and never had it happen twice.Valet parking was a nightmare every time you tried to get car you would wait up to 30 minutes. You never knew if anyone was actually getting car as no one made eye contact. You had to stand in 100 degree temps waiting for car. When you call for room service the phone goes dead. After several attempts I called operator who was no help. Eventually got through to room service after 15 minute delay. Food was not impressive and took over an hour. Room cleanliness was not great. The air vents in bathroom had dust build up that was disgusting. My room had two queen beds which were on a wooden frame that made creaking noise whenever you moved. I woke up several times due to noise. The room a/c thermostat was not correct and showed room at 69 degrees but it was closer to 80 degrees. Too hot to sleep. Shower curtain rod had rust and tile had mold in bathroom. Toilet paper holder was broken so toilet paper roll fell off constantly. Not much. Little things impress me. Like your closets are not deep enough for your hangers which must hang at an angle. Your elevator signs warn "do not use in emergencies" but never show where the nearest stairwell is. Your arrival and departure attitude is "force guests to use the valet service" because they are the only people with authorized access […] to the luggage dollies. The hotel floor map that you hand out is terrible, as if someone drew it poorly and too small and you never took time or budget to improve it. Your guest assistance is unacceptable, such as helping guests get from place to place. For example, how do I get from your hotel to the General Jackson? I never saw anything that shows how easy it is -- just across a parking lot. Why can't you explain such things in a tri-fold brochure? Arrived at the guest registration drive not to a, 'Welcome to the Gaylord', but a'pull over there and we will see what we can do'. Not a warm welcome at all. While I parked the car, my wife was told by bell serve that she could not take our luggage into the lobby. Further no one directed her to registration. She found her own way. From this guest point […] of view, when you go on a vacation, you go out for the day, return to your room around 4-5 to rest and clean up to go out to dinner and show. However, each day when we returned to the room, it had not been cleaned. On the first day, we returned to the room uncleared. About 5 we wanted to clean up to go out. We called service for clean towels. Service sent up one towel for the two of us to use. This was not only insensitive to their guest needs it was an 'in your face' act of disrespect and rudeness. When I spoke with management, they indicated that housekeeping had cleaned the room and a supervisor had inspected. Not true. On the second day, the same. We returned around 4 to a unclean room. A housekeeper outside our door asked if we wanted service. My wife said yes, definitely. The housekeeper push her cart away, not to return. When we called service, they indicated that we refused service. Not true. Both days we did get our room cleaned around 5-5:30 each day only after multiple request and much frustration.
