"Great weekend getaway"
Boutique hotel. You can't worry about technology. Live in the moment. No clocks or radios. Great location. Staff is very helpful. They will book all restaurants and trips.Genuine Expedia guest review
"So-so hotel not friendly though"
We were refused to have any sort of guest past 11:30, which is absurd on the weekends. They said it was policy and that it was in the information sent to us. It wasn't anywhere in any information. Considering disputing the charge because we had to make expensive plans on the fly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Downtown Reykevik Hotel"
The staff at Hotel Borg were fantastic. Everything we asked was given a quick response of "no problem." The hotel itself is in a great location near the parliament and several bars and restaurants. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. Only minor complaint would be that the breakfast buffet was a little skimpy, but that was compared to the great […] breakfast at the Hotel Ranga on the south coast of Iceland. The hotel is very nice and the location is perfect for exploring Reykjavik. The only issue is that it can be a bit noisy at night if you face the main square because there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby that are open very late.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location and Staff"
Great experience here, and I highly recommend this hotel. My room was on the small side, but perfect for one person, and let's face it...when you're on vacation, how often do you find yourself in your room anyway? The important factors (decor, comfort, amenities, and cleanliness) were all present. The staff was great - very accommodating - and offered […] excellent suggestions for places to eat and drink. The location was tremendously convenient. Be anywhere worth being in a 10 minute walk or less...anywhere else is a short cab ride away. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Sleek Sexy Hotel in The Heart of Iceland"
I Loved This Hotel. We had the most wonderful room, it was a suite but I expect the smaller rooms were just as nice. The staff was friendly, helpful and could not do enough. The Resturant and bar were beautiful and the breakfast was great. I will want to sray at this hotel the next time I am in IcelandGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel and great location!"
I stayed in the Borg Hotel in Reykjavik for a 4 day stop-over in October 2012. The location downtown is perfect if you want to explore the city on foot since all the restaurants, bars and stores are located in the immediate vicinity. I stayed in room 419 (A single bed)... the room was nice and big and the marble bathroom had headed floors and a heated […] towel rack; A robe and slippers were also included. Everything was super-modern, clean and just awesome. The hotel staff was very nice and helped me to book a tour in the last minute and order a bus pickup the airport. If I'd do another stop-over in Iceland I'd stay again at Hotel Borg. I've seen other tourists get dropped off at other hotels in the middle of nowhere (for example; the Hilton in Reykjavik is quite remote and you need a bus to go anywhere... no bars, no restaurants; quite isolated). If you want to explore the city on foot and be close to all the action and can afford to pay a little more for a true 4 Star Hotel, you can't go wrong with Hotel Borg. "Like home, like family"
I had a dental emergency last week, great pain and stress, and the hotel staff saved me. They arranged an appointment with a dentist and helped me survive the pain. I have been saying at this hotel for eight years, and would not consider another hotel in Iceland. It's like home for me. R. ThompsonGenuine Expedia guest review

Great location right in the heart of things. Great old-world charm without being old. I really enjoyed it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Historic hotel at the center of civic life"
This historic hotel is centrally located not only physically but also spiritually at the heart of Reykjavik. The last night of our stay, Icelandic presidential candidate Ari Trausti Gudmundsson and his retinue were celebrating promising poll results at midnight (prematurely, as it turned out). The building shares the square with the Icelandic Parliament […] and a number of fine downtown drinking establishments, and it's no more than a 5 to 10 minute walk to most of the major sites and activities of interest to visitors. "A great hotel in a great city."
The hotel was great. To our surprise, we were upgraded to a suite. Our bathroom had heated floors with a rain shower. The bathtub wasn't draining properly but was improved (not 100% fixed) on the second day which was sufficient. Our room had Bang & Olufsen electronics throughout which was very impressive. I will say that the stereo had to have cost […] several thousand dollars but did not have a place to dock an iPod. I don't know if all of these features are in all room but we did have them in our suite. Lastly, the hotel is near a few bars so there is a noise factor but not enough to keep us away if we're in town again. Overall, a great stay and would definitely recommend to a friend. All staff were extremely helpful and accomidating. The hotel itself could not be located in a better part of the city; central to most everything. My only suggestion is that the hotel invest in a health facility (e.g., either on premise or in partnership with a nearby gym).Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice with a terrific location"
If you are looking for a 5 star luxury experience, Hotel Borg is not it. Having said that, it is very, very nice with a terrific location. The main shopping and restaurant district is around the corner. The staff was attentive and service oriented. The room was comfortable and well maintained. The furnishings were also attractive with a cool art deco […] design. The hotel appears to consist of two connected buildings. Our 4th floor room was in the new building, facing the street. It had a pleasant view of a square. It was a little noisy at night because of a bar/restaurant at the street level. We did not mind, but if you want a quiet room you might want to specifically ask for one. Our connecting room was at the back of the hotel and our children said it was quiet. We would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Borg Hotel is wonderful!"
This is a wonderful hotel. One of the older buildings in downtown Reykjavik. Our room on the 5th floor was perfect for a family, we have one young son. We had a great view overlooking the town, the church on the hill and even the mountains across the harbor when the sky cleared. This hotel is in an excellent location and you can walk everywhere. Reykjavik […] is small so walking everywhere is not a problem Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The only reason I would give this hotel a 3 is that when I booked both the hotel websight and expedia listed a bar and resturant. When we arrived we found that the resturant no longer existed and there was no bar or lounge. They were working on a new one. Also the noise would be a factor if you weren't on a higher floor and in the back of the hotel. […] The staff was pleasant and fixed the mix up that they created when they booked my excursions. "Delightful design & well located"
We enjoyed our stay at the Borg, the Art Deco design is fabulous. The room was cozy with much needed heating as it was very cold when we were there. The women at front desk were friendly. The night time clerk was smug and not friendly. The room was nice and the art deco design was done well. No gym however which was disappointing. Location is perfect and close to lots of shops, restaurants, and harbor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"good central location"
Staff helpful in placing 2 rooms adjacent for our daughters. There was building work on the new restaurant (so no dinner available) out the back but we were out early on trips so not an issue. "Overpriced and indifferent staff"
We booked a suite as we wanted to make it "special" for our anniversary. First disappointment came as we were told there was no help available for our luggage ( no bellboy), which is strange for a hotel that pretends to be 4 stars. Then we found out that the hotel has no parking, so basically you're on your own trying to find a space in a crowded area […] and having to get up in the morning to buy a parking ticket at the public box and place it in your car to avoid it being clamped.....the room was nothing spectacular, in most hotels it would be considered a junior suite, not a suite. The hotel has no restaurant, so no room service.....and the staff, well even if we stayed 3 days/ nights, we were barely acknowledged as we were walking by the reception. Not a good morning, not a smile....they were staring at their computer screen or talking to each other.....very " cold" feeling. TV in the room was not working well and only 7 channels available. For the price we paid, we could have had a great room in many top 5 stars hotels in most great cities of the world.....even if Reykjavik is expensive, the value we got from this hotel was far below standard. To be fair, the young lady who checked us out was very nice and smiling...where was she the other 3 days before? Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Noisy ongoing construction work"
Woken up at 7.50 a.m by loud drilling outside room as there is a building site next door. This was not disclosed during booking. Staff were indifferent saying that the hotel website makes disclosure of construction work, which is only supposed to run from 9.am to 6 p.m. Had to argue to get a change of room! Indifferent attitude by management. Very expensive […] hotel - has a bad vibe and is not worth the money. Would not have booked if we had realised. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Shame about the noise and lack of restaurant."
Disappointed when we arrived to have a room right next to where building work was being carried out for an extension to the hotel. "Spend your money elsewhere"
We checked in and our room wasn't ready, no issue since we knew already due to our early arrival. We where given a key to their luggage storage room and had to take care of storing it ourselves and returning the key - no bellboy, no assistance which is odd for a luxury hotel charging a lot money per night. We returned in the late afternoon to finally […] unpack and rest after a long flight. Unpacking was difficult since the standard room was just too small and resting impossible due to the construction site behind the hotel and construction / reno of the building besides the hotel. The noise level with closed windows was unbearable and I had recorded / video it. Front desk / management knew about this problem and still puts customers in these rooms charging a lot of money. Parking was another issue due to the construction going on and we could not park in front of the hotel to unload our suitcases. The road in front of the hotel is only open from 8am - 11am and we where told to find street parking and put some money in the meter - not every international traveller has Islandic coins for a meter!!! Don't bother with the breakfast Buffett, go across the street and have a great selection for less money. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Noisy Bar Below"
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has two sections, one which looks like the original hotel and one which is over a bar. Our room was on the 4th floor over the bar and on Friday and Saturday nights, well past midnight it is VERY, VERY noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Different part of the hotel"
We were travelling together with our family and had two rooms booked at this hotel. One turned out to be in a different section of the hotel and you needed to use a seperate lift for this part which was not great since we wanted to easily be able to pop between the two rooms. Please be aware if you are travelling in a group.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The suite is lovely"
We were upgraded to one of the suits which was nice and very comfortable. Would recommend and also the breakfast which has a great selection of things and high quality hot selection. Love the art deco interior and would stay again. Only complaint that we had was that one night was very windy and the noice from the wrope wipping against the flagpoles […] outside our window woke us up more than once despite the windows being very well insulated from noice. This was pretty extreme wind so I really due to the weather rather than the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful except for the construction"
Overall, the Borg Hotel is wonderful. The location is second to none, located on a central square in Rejkavik. However, be forewarned! It is also in the middle of the hot hot club scene so don't expect quiet and solitude in the midnight hours if you are sleeping in the rooms facing the majestic central square. And unfortunately, don't stay at the back […] either as they are tearing down the building behind the Borg Hotel and the bulldozers and cranes start very early (and they have just started the teardown so this will be going on a long while). All in all a beautiful hotel but be aware of the surrounding space. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We all (party of five) had a great stay. Iceland was brilliant and the hotel was an ideal place to stay. Lovely decore, clean, very friendly and helpful staff, and just a great location. "A bed and breakfast with building work in progress"
The hotel is ok but we initially had a room in the annexe, right next to major building work, taking place next door. This work was going on from 8am to 7pm, seven days a week and is very, very noisy. The Borg Hotel also has building work of it's own taking place at the rear of the hotel. We couldn't change rooms till after the first night but (many […] thanks to Tomas in reception) we were able to move the next day to a lovely room in the main hotel. I also heard other guests complain about the building work noise. The "renowned" restaurant in the hotel was closed and there was no room service available. Not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice Hotel but they seem to have a habit of double"
The hotel is in a great location with good rooms however they double booked us and other guests who had booked via Expedia with a conference who had booked about a year previously. According to the hotel this was Expedia's fault but I suspect it is down to the poor organisation within the hotel. We were not advised about the double booking until we […] checked in and were told we would have to move to an Apartment hotel around the corner for our last night, not the start you want on your holiday. We asked what compensation we would receive on the basis the other hotel was not the same class and the reception advised that would need to be discussed with the reception manager who wasn't available and would have to be contacted via e-mail. Staff were courteous but unable to make decisions on their own. Having packed and gone down to reception on the last day we were then told they had some cancellation and we could stay, they would upgrade our rooms to suites but despite telling us it was for both couples in our party and they would ensure our luggage was moved. We turned up later to find only one of the two rooms had been upgraded and the other room was the same standard as before on the same floor. Why we could not stay in the original room god only knows, what a shambles. I would not stay in this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
