"Enjoyed our stay at The (historic) Lucerne..."
The hotel staff were very efficient, accommodating and friendly. The lobby welcomes with lovely ambiance and inviting atmosphere, original architecture and a glass of wine which was very nice.. Room was nice, lovely views. Hotel was over all quiet and classy. Location is Great! Very close-by Central Park's stroll across to eastside Manhattan, (walk […] past Museum row and to more amazing shopping and more delicious restaurants), the subway seemed very safe and takes you wherever you want to go, (the subways are found close by too, walking distance), location was perfect for our young one who came along this time, the park was a very doable daily visit since so close by...Nice Matin (delicious French restaurant) is connected at the lobby and Coppola's (delicious Italian who also delivers lightening speed) is across the street. Recommend both. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great upper west side gem"
One block to subway, great restaurants all around the block, including their own. Clean, quiet, and close to museums. Will definitely returnGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Weekend Spot in the Upper West Side"
Lovely stay! Hotel was convenient and beautifully maintained.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms small, but clean. The hotel makes you pay $50 per night extra to have the ability to cancel reservations.... If you don't pay the extra fee when making reservations, you are liable for the entire stay (not just the first night) if you have to cancel.Genuine Expedia guest review
great hotel, great neighborhood, great helpful staff, great location, quiet and comfortableGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lucerne Hotel is a find."
What a surprise on the upper West side. Finally, a hotel that has kept it's simple elegance and provides a truly comfortable experience all-around!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Modest but convenient hotel"
Small room, no coffee maker as advertised. Service quickly brought us coffee maker, extra pillow and towels upon request. Pleasant hotel convenient to many West Side attractions. Good, not great. Plastic cups in bathrooms instead of glass. Kind of cheap.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel on Upper West Side"
We made a close to last minute reservation, but everything went fine. The hotel itself is surprisingly quiet for its location. The little restaurant next door, Nice Matin, serves excellent breakfasts.Genuine Expedia guest review
"European style small but comfortable"
European style small rooms but everthing you need for a comfortable stay . Excellent retaurant attached to hotel . Good upper west locationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very nice hotel in fabulous neighborhood!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel close to Beacon Theater"
Five weeks in advance of our four night stay in October, we requested a high floor room on the Amsterdam Ave. side of hotel. The request was not granted. We got a room on the 4th floor overlooking a narrow alley at the rear of the hotel. We think that with such advance notice it should be no problem to fulfill our request. Overall it's a good place, […] situated in a great spot on the Upper West Side. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"DEFINITELY STAY HERE"
The Lucerne was WONDERFUL! I prefer to stay on the UWS, but my usual hotel had been bought out and didn't seem to have kept its quality. So, I took a chance on The Lucerne. It is now my go-to NYC hotel. The staff could not be friendlier. They smile, they laugh, they engage in conversation with guests and with each other. The hotel itself is just lovely […] inside. My room - far from the typical closet of an NYC hotel - was spacious and wonderfully appointed. Comfy mattress and bed linens. Everything very clean. The housekeepers were outstanding - even lining up my cosmetics for me! I'm a bit of a hotel snob - and I can say this is definitely a place that's getting my return visit. "Nice hotel in quieter area near our son's apartmen"
We have stayed at the Lucerne three times and are well pleased with the accommodations and staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Horrible service, very poor hotel"
The star rating on Hotels.com is a joke for this hotel. Its 3 star at best and likely 2.5 starGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the location, had a corner room with a view. Excellent food at Nice Matin. Roomy, comfy beds, nice shower!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel. Good location."
This hotel was conveniently located for my trip. Staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms was clean and comfortable. Nothing particularly outstanding. I would return.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quiet, well run, near subway, nice neighborhood"
Staff was pleasant and effficient. Housecleaning was a biy spotty. Adjoining restaurant was expensive but very high quality. Location was awesome (a nice neighborhood that you'd love to live in but super close to subways). Lovely, solidly built building kept street noise at bay. Very comfortable beds.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel! I would definitely stay here again!"
I really enjoyed my experience at the hotel. The staff was great and the room was very nice. Also the hotel had a great location and was fairly priced.Genuine Expedia guest review
I stayed at the Lucerne Hotel for 4 days/3 nights. The hotel is clean and the staff are very helpful and nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable, but small"
Location is close to Central Park, which we wanted to visit, also many great restaurants. Beds were comfortable, great shower. No amenities such as coffee maker, refgr or microwave. Bellmen and doorman very friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great upper West side location!"
Sort of an old world charm, without the old world stodginess. Really enjoyed it.Genuine Expedia guest review
I would stay here again. Says it all No negatives unless you don't like the upper west side. I do. It is a real neighborhoodGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"New York City"
Nice location. The hotel is near alot of nice dining and is also close to The Natural Science Museum. The subway is close too.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place in UWS"
We were in NYC for a 3-day weekend with our college-age son and one of his friends. We had two rooms at the Lucerne. It was a really convenient location for everything we wanted to do. The staff were all very helpful and the rooms were nice - not over the top - and clean. We would recommend it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great neighborhood, hotel staff and service."
My 2nd time with family members at The Lucerne. Staff are friendly and eager to find a way to help! We know and love the neighborhood. Great little restaurants all over - one is part of the hotel itself. Easy access to so much of the city. Great service and very comfortable atmosphere. Hope to come back soon.!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Upper Westside Gem"
Great location for this comfy hotel that's a grande dame of the old school.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
After reading other reviewers experiences I was very much looking forward to staying here but was overall diappointed in my stay. First of all, my room was very small (even by NY standards). My colleagues were also staying here and had a beautiful large room with a double bed and only ended up paying a little more than me. The walls were thin and you […] could hear EVERYTHING! The first night I could hear a man in the adjacent room yawning! You could hear everyone walking by your room and hear people in nearby rooms talking. From the noise and lack of sleep I was trying to make it up on my last morning there but couldn't as housekeeping started at 8 am. You could hear everything they were doing plus music from their radio on their cart. For the price I paid to stay here this is not what I was hoping to experience. For just a few dollars more you could stay at the Plaza or the Windsor-Astoria so it's not like this is an "Economy" hotel. I've been to New York once before and stayed at the Westin in Grand Central for much less and it was a MUCH better experience. So do yourself a favor and choose a different 4-star hotel. Great location for us. Away from the madness of downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
What a nice hotel. It's only a short walk from Central Park. There is a subway stop on the same block. Perfect!Genuine Expedia guest review

"close to transportation"
This is my first visit to the Lucerne. The staff is cordial and helpful. I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice and quiet"
Hotel is clean and quiet. Sleep quality is well above average for a big city experience. Fast elevators were a surprise. Nice location next to central park. Short walk from times square.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel as a base"
This is a nice hotel in a great location. There are plenty of dining and shopping options nearby and transportation is abundant. If you plan to do any work plan to be stuck to your desk or on your bed as there was no big comfy chair to sit in and use your laptop. This probably is not important to most and especially if you are there on business that […] can be done outside of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great experience on our anniversary"
Loved staying on the upper west side close to central park. We chose the Lucerne because of it's unique interior style and exceptional attention to detail. The room was perfect with high end furnishings, great amenities and a large bathroom that was clean and up to date.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice hotel, best part was Concierge Ron. Extremely helpful. My room bathroom smaller than my home half-bath. Food good, not great. I would go again. Not handicap friendly. No ramp at entrance. Elevators to small, narrow door.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our only complaint was that it took a very long time for our room to be cleaned each day. I think they were short handed. Usually the cleaner did not get there until 3-4 oclock in the afternoon. By that time we were back to wash up from our days excursions and leave the evening. We couldn't shower/clean up when she was cleaning our room! 2 times we […] actually had to sit and wait in the lobby for her to finish! I don't blame her. I think they need to hire more cleaners! Hotel personnel were warm, friendly and accommodating. Room was very small, not unexpected for NYC. Hotel very close to the subway. The biggest issue we had was that the humidity in the room remained high even with the AC on. The air conditioner went on and off very sporadically, and was noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice neighborhood, mixed residential and businesses. Plenty of restaurants. Two blocks from Riverside and Central Park. Totally excellent !Great experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Will stay again for sureGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great, quiet hotel close to subway."
I have stayed at the Lucerne on and off for over ten years. It is comfortable, quiet and although not exceptional, a very decent place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel in great neighborhood"
We used to live on the Upper West Side and the Lucerne provides a nice opportunity to enjoy a real neighborhood - close to Central Park and the main museums - instead of a typical tourist location. The hotel provides a voucher for breakfast at Nice Matin, a fine restaurant right next door. The Lucerne was a great choice and we'll be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient, nice neighborhood, half block to subwa"
Everything was fine and we particularly enjoyed this upper West Side neighborhood, close to park, museum, subway and Zabars. The only negative I can say about the hotel is that there was a bit of a "doggy" smell in the corridor. Everything was clean and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Upper West Side is perfect for many reasons!"
My husband's birthday celebration each year consists of a few days in the city, a Yankees game, restaurants galore, and lots of walking. This year we chose to stay in the upper west side, at The Lucerne. From the moment we drove up in the taxi, the building is beautiful, the doorman is right by your side, the entrance and inside the lobby is charming […] and comfortable, the front desk staff so helpful and friendly. When entering the room, it was also charming with its furnishings, antique-ish yet modern, roomy, comfortable queen bed. The bathroom was clean, with new tiling. I mentioned at the front desk that we were there to celebrate my husband's birthday. When the bellman brought our luggage up, he handed me a bottle of wine and said compliments of the hotel and wished him a great birthday. I like that! We had lots of help from the concierge, suggestions, and overall extremely friendly. I would recommend this very classy hotel, reasonably priced for the area, very close to Central Park. And I would definitely go back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great stay on upper west side."
The hotel really feels like a classic NY hotel. It has a lot of character with a great staff. We're coming back to NY in December and we will definitely be retuning to the Lucerne.Genuine Expedia guest review
"New York, New York.....so nice they named it twice"
My stay was fantastic. This is always my first choice of hotels to stay at and this time confirmed that decision yet again. I love the upper west side location. I love the staff's professionalism and courtesy. My only recommendation would be to upgrade the gym a little. Maybe have two rooms dedicated and the tv's on each machine needed maintenance this […] time. Otherwise this hotel is always immaculately clean and the quality of service is consistently impeccable. I highly recommend anyone to stay here! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overpriced small rooms"
Staff is nice. Overpriced for what you get, even for Manhattan. I could have got just as nice of a room closer to times square than the Lucerne.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Moving our son to college"
