"For the budget minded"
The staff was terrific. The location was a good one. The neighborhood was seedy. The rooms were shabby, spartan and lacked basic amenities eg a clock and useful hand soap.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Located in downtown,Near by Oranage & green line"
Check in Jan 26 21012 - Chek out Jan 29 2012 - Ideal location to move around near by downtown , got the metro pass for 3 days ( $16) , Unlimited access, dont even need a car to move arround even from the airport( incldued in the 3 day pass). Breakfast was served at your door , per your the time u have picked( Coffee, juice, and muffins plus jam, butter […] and jelly ONLY) , Free parking was a plus. Rooms were very small, our room was a bit dirty so we request to change the room; we got to see/check/select from the two other rooms, overall hoetal is a bit out dated, but I can sense a bit of ongoing renevation . Not very clean but liveable with what you are paying. For this price n location, I'd go back. Great Customer service. Must see Old Montreal City, Underground Shopping was fun, most of the underground buildings were connected underground, get a map to get aquintated , mostly everyone speak French , but you easily get by with English as well. I would suggest the hotel to see if they can manage to have/include boiled eggs with the breakfast. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel, although it is in a slightly seedy part of town, has a great location. Easy walking distance to the old part of Montreal, fast food restaurants (essential when traveling with kids) and a supermarket just up the road. Service was very friendly and helpful. The guys on the front desk couldn't have been more helpful, and went out of their way […] to retrieve an item that was left behind when we left. A big plus for us was the off-street parking next to the hotel. Saved the hassles and expense of finding something commercial. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good Value for your money"
Sure, the hotel is dingy, the walls could use new paint, and the elevator smelled terrible. But, we weren't looking for luxury accommodations. What we got was a cozy room with hardwood floors, friendly staff, clean bathroom, strong hot showers, and best of all, breakfast brought to our room! We also really liked the location of this hotel. It's just […] around the corner from dozens of restaurants, coffee shops, and other stores (pharmacy, book store, etc), yet off the main road so it's not noisy. Also, parking can be tricky in such a busy area, but the hotel has its own parking lot! I found the staff very friendly, and breakfast arrived promptly at the requested time. There are a lot of people complaining about this hotel on this website, giving it a bad review. But seriously, what are they expecting for this price? A hotel can't afford to update the bedding and paint every few years unless it charges high rates! Personally, I'm totally fine with sacrificing frills for for a good bargain. This hotel certainly has no frills, nothing fancy, but it's a solid place to stay in Montreal without breaking the bank, and we'll definitely go back there if we visit Montreal again. "Bed bugs warning other wise good"
The hotel is close to downtown but a bit sketchy at night. Parking is tight but always available - ask for the gated additional parking lot if needed. Staff is very nice and extremely helpful. "Vehicle ransacked in hotel parking lot"
Listing free parking as one of Hotel St. Andre's amenities was a draw. Now that we've visited I can see why people pay for parking...you want to be safe! Items were stolen out of our car, glove compartment gone through, although no broken windows. I never feared for my safety and the area is rife with homeless peopleGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great price for what you get"
Great location, free wireless internet, free parking, free breakfast (delivered to my room). Not a very attractive interior, but it was clean enough. Overall great value for thrifty travelers (but not professional-level comfort for business travelers, or something like that).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just about what we expected"
This hotel was conveniently located near the metro and half a block off St. Catherine street. Free parking and a nice breakfast delivered to your room in the morning is why I would recommend this hotel. On the down side, the rooms were a little sterile and the comforter and bed were not that cozy. The shower was less than I expected but overall we were […] very happy with our stay. drove 5 hours from NY to Montreal arrived at the hotel around 09:00 AM to park my car and hoping for an early check-in. Roger at the front desk was very helpful and did let me check-in early and had the room clean STAT. Location is great it's 10-15 minutes max walk to Chinatown & Old Montreal. "Great Value! Breakfast too."
We love Hotel St. Andre, it's a great value, free parking (rare) free internet (rare) and free breakfast brought to your room every morning. Croissant et Baguette! Coffee or tea. Very nice staff. We used to stay at 4 star hotels in Montreal, but St. Andre is where we only stay now.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Place to See Montreal"
The hotel was reasonably clean and comfortable, but above all convenient to Montreal, both the Old Port section and the newer sections of town. There is limited parking, but it's secure and I had no worries about having my car parked there.Genuine Expedia guest review

with inexpensive price, free parking, nearby metro, walking distance to old montreal and st.catherine street,we had a wonderful time in Montreal and certainly will go back to this hotel again in the future and will recommend it to friends. the staff at front desk were very friendly and very helpful with all the information we need. Thanks a lot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Roger, who checked us in was amazing. He was a fountain of knowledge and extremely helpful. The hotel is old and rather basic, but a good deal for the price, especially since it included free parking and breakfast brought right to your room at the time requested :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel's location was absolutely perfect. we were able to walk to almost all the places we wanted to see. the train station, tons of shops and restaurants were nearby. The staff was somewhat friendly. "Nice forward base to Montreal"
The hotel is located few steps off St. Catherine in the Village, so not recommended for people afflicted by homophobia. Easy to get on and off highway, good access to metro, shops, museums, and not far from Mount Royal Park. Lots of coffee shops, sex shops, and male strip clubs. Otherwise it's pretty much the place to sleep and store luggage, nothing […] more. The room w/king size bed was small, badly lit, had small fridge, 2 smallish chairs, table size of a pizza box and an antediluvian TV set. WiFi worked. The bathroom was small, had walk-in shower and toilet meant to accommodate left-leg amputees (if you happen to have both legs you'd have to seat side-ways due to the seat mounted too close to the wall). Some closet space. A/C worked. Rather quiet. Complimentary breakfast was edible. Free parking is limited to about 7-8 tight spots behind the hotel, difficult to get in and out, fenced, locked, otherwise no security. Public parking on the street and off, nearby. Overall: expect Motel 6 level of comfort. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Was fine for what I needed. The breakfast which is delivered in the morning is a nice touch. Unfortunately it is not very soundproof. I'm a bit of a light sleeper and every time a door opened or someone came down the hallway I was awakened. Other than that is was OKGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The positive is that the room was big enough for one person et very well located but this is where the positive ends! The walls of the room were dirty, spots with missing paint and hair all over the bathroom... Not very inviting to take a shower. Also the room was poorly equipped: old broken furniture from the eighties, no phone (so obliged to use own […] cell phone for local calls so meaning long distance fees for me) and not even an alarm clock to see the time at night... They have, it seems, a special tradition that is to leave your breakfast on the floor in the hallway because I couldn't open the door on time (in the shower). Well this was the first and the last time in that hotel. One more comment: the staff should learn how to smile but when you are hire young teenagers dressed up with jeans and t-shirts at the reception office (doing homework it looks like), can you hope for more? "Another Fun Run to Montreal"
Le St. Andre is a long standing staple in our hotels of choice in Montreal. Proximity to the village, value and convenience to driving easily in and out of the city make it an practical option when in town. Can't comment on the breakfasts any more because we're always awake too late to try the delivered breakfast tray (but while in room 116 - beside […] the elevator - at the end of the hallway - the floor boards did a good job of getting us well awake earlier than anticipated ;-( ). Yes - the hallway floor boards do squeak some but otherwise only other comment is the mattress in room 116 was too soft for our liking - will ask the right question next time I book. I continue to recommend as good value for the money. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
A person's experience with a hotel is a combination of the hotel itself and the expectations of the person staying there. This is not a 5 star hotel ... it is a budget hotel. Having said that, the staff were very friendly. The continental breakfast delivered to the room was excellent. The location is very close to the metro (literally just steps away) […] but is also in an area of town that tends to be a bit seedy. (rue Ste. Catherine's Est). "Great Location, but old and ugly hotel"
Hotel had one of the best locations you can find in downtown (just minutes from old Port and rue St. Catherine) but as far as the quality of the hotel stay goes, we didnt like it. Its an old hotel, very small, very ugly and dated. There is no parking so you have to park on the street and wake up before 9AM (on the weekend) to fill up your meter or pay […] 15 bucks for overnight parking in surrounding area. The rooms didnt have an iron and when I asked the front desk for one, they went into a storage area, pulled one out and said do not use water in it because it will drench your clothes lol. Also the room had mini towels with the Dollarama tags still on them. lol sometimes its the little things that might make your stay a bit more enjoyable, unforunately this place didn't. The best thing about this hotel is the staff at the counter. They were extremely helpful and had amazing advice. The hotel is older and doesn't provide onsite carparking. Although the staff were friendly and helpful, but I will not go to this hotel again. It is not clean and the A/C window type unit was very noisy. "You get what you pay for."
The hotel is a little run down; old furniture, tiny tv, old noisy air conditioner that had trouble keeping up even though it was rainy and not very warm out, definitely more of a feel of a hostle than a hotel. But for the price it's in a convenient location, only a block from the 747 bus stop (direct to airport) and a block from a metro stop. There […] are a lot of homeless people in the area, but that seems to be the case in most of montreal, we still walked back late at night with no problems. The room seemed clean enough except for the bedspread which could clearly use a wash, but sheets were clean. The breakfast was croissants, French bread, with butter and jam, juice boxes, and coffee. It wasn't bad but in a city with such incredible food we decided after the first day not to waste stomach space on 'ok' food when we could go out for the best coffee and croissants of your life. Overall I think this is what you get in this price range, so if you're on a budget and want a place to sleep while you explore montreal this is perfect, but don't kid yourself, you're not going to want to spend time in your room! "Great Location, But Needs Some Maintenance"
Hotel was in a great location near the Berri UQAM Metro. Easy to get to Old Montreal and the Crescent St. and McGill areas & St. Denis. Croissants, bread and coffee/tea are delivered to your room if you wish in the morning. It was very hot when we arrived and the air conditioner was very small and did not cool down the room at all after two days. Either […] there were not enough BTUs or the air conditioner was too old to work properly. It also made noise like a jet taking off which made it hard to sleep. The room was fairly small but there was a fridge. The bathtub was scratched and the tile in the shower needs to be replaced. Some upgrades would make this a much more comfortable place to stay. "Miserable place to stay"
DO NOT STAY HERE ! The hotel is run-down with broken and missing floor tiles in the entry & stepped area has no handrail, when you walk into the lobby area you can smell stale smoke and some other unpleasant odours. The staff greet you but seem confused when you ask for parking for a disabled member of your group. They tell you to park blocks away at […] the library and you have to explain that the person cannot walk very far... 3 times we explained the need to park closer, to which they finally allow you to park around back in the "staff" parking lot ( there is 1 staff member on duty ) and parking for about 6 cars. That surprisingly fills up with guests cars. The top floor is accessed by steps and there is no soundproofing between floors....so guests on the lower floor are woken to thudding footsteps. We were woken at 3am by a group of loud, drunken young guys stumbling upstairs laughing and swearing. When we told the manager / desk person they shrugged and said " oh young people, you know, coming home" to which I replied " not so young people trying to sleep!" On checkout we returned our key cards and the desk person asked for the tip envelope, This was a horrible hotel with young staff that seemed to think guests had to tip for "lack " of service and unpleasant stays ! the only good thing was the delivered continental breakfast !
