Great value. Front desk was friendly and extremely helpful. Room was clean. The complementary breakfast in delivered to the room is a great touch. Only downside is the tiny parking lot..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was clean but small. The bathroom did not have any electrical outlets. The furniture appeared to be the type that you build yourself. But, the location was great -- Within walking distance of shopping and old town.Would stay here again for the price and location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Well located small hotel."
Only two blocks to the Berri-UQAM Metro station so easy to get anywhere in Montreal. Serve nice continental breakfast brought right to your room. Free parking available in a limited-sized lot so get there early. Could use a little upgrade in room furniture, lighting and TV. WiFi worked reasonably well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location is good, but that's all"
Went for 3 nights to this hotel. Cleanliness of the room was disappointing - there were someone's hairs on the pillows, although covers looked ironed, lots of stains on the floor everywhere, and condition of the room leaves much more to desire. Guy at the reception kindly offered us another room (smoking one), and we couldn't stay 5 mins there, so just […] simply exchanged pillows with our first room (no one was in the hotel to change the bed dressing at 11pm). Breakfast is awful, nothing eatable, and coffee is junk. Parking is a plus - saves about $10-15 per day, few slots almost always are available. But be careful entering, must have some tight parking experience. Another plus - is 5 mins to the metro, which takes you to any place in the city. And their wifi works really great all over the hotel. Overall, except for parking, location, and friendliness of the staff the hotel is very bad, I wouldn't go there next time. "I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my friends"
Location is good for a traveller but room condition is very basic. Old model TV and noisy air condition.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cute and Friendly"
It's true, as I read in other reviews, that the rooms are very small and the walls are thin. But the location is great and the staff is very friendly. I recommend this hotel if you're going to spend most of your time out and about in the city - not in the hotel. As a place to crash, it's cute, clean, and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Is fine for a couple days"
The employee in the front desk very nice and very helphfulGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not a ritzy hotel, but it was just fine for me"
I drove up and my first thought was to cancel. I mean, the parking lot is just a vacant lot and you have to drive between two buildings, make a sharp turn (if someone isn't just parked at the turn so that you can barely get in -- why are people this dense to do that?) Anyway, when I got in, the people were very nice and the room is like a small bedroom […] with a bathroom in it. For me, I came to Montreal to explore the city, not to stay in a hotel, so it served its needs. I could easily fall asleep there, the window unit on the air conditioner worked, the fridge was small but it was good enough to keep milk, soda, and juice cold. Never really turned the TV on, but it's an old tube TV. The furniture is not that great, but it didn't fall apart, so I won't complain. All in all, it's in a city and it may be a bit overpriced considering the parking issue but judging by the other prices around, you will pay much more to go there. Let's just say that it suited my needs for 3 days although if I had one request, I'd put a good bike rack in front of the building and maybe even put a small ramp where the parking lot is so you don't have to go through the alley to park.... (if you can get a spot -- if not, there are MAYBE 2 or 3 spots you can get in but you can't park there on Monday and Thursday between 7 and 8 am for some reason) Anyway, not too bad, it's near many stores, and it was decent enough to end my trip on a good note. "terrible up-kept hotel"
In general, staying in this hotel is not pleasant at all, but somewhat tolerable if your budget is really tight. This is the only hotel I've stayed with that has no hair dryer. The room is extremely small and the insulation is horrible that I can hear my neighbor sneeze as if he was doing it right beside me. The hotel is a very old building, although […] the owner was trying to renovate it, the structure cannot even prevent smoke leaking to non-smoking rooms that my clothes were soaked with the smell of cigarette smoking. The upkeep of the hotel was also awful, e.g. I saw 2 plastic bags from the previous guest left in the closet, and there was a bottle of body wash lotion with broken cap, apparently used by somebody already. I threw this bottle to trash bin but the next day it came back to the bath tub again, apparently being fished out from the trash by their staff and provided to me to use! Probably because it was a super old building, there was no central air, the window AC unit sounded like a helicopter. When we were booking this hotel, we were told there was a free parking. Yes, there was, only 4-5 cars capacity so when you were not lucky enough, go park somewhere else with cash on your own. Anyway, I don't think we're gonna be back to this hotel again. "For the budget minded"
The staff was terrific. The location was a good one. The neighborhood was seedy. The rooms were shabby, spartan and lacked basic amenities eg a clock and useful hand soap.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Located in downtown,Near by Oranage & green line"
Check in Jan 26 21012 - Chek out Jan 29 2012 - Ideal location to move around near by downtown , got the metro pass for 3 days ( $16) , Unlimited access, dont even need a car to move arround even from the airport( incldued in the 3 day pass). Breakfast was served at your door , per your the time u have picked( Coffee, juice, and muffins plus jam, butter […] and jelly ONLY) , Free parking was a plus. Rooms were very small, our room was a bit dirty so we request to change the room; we got to see/check/select from the two other rooms, overall hoetal is a bit out dated, but I can sense a bit of ongoing renevation . Not very clean but liveable with what you are paying. For this price n location, I'd go back. Great Customer service. Must see Old Montreal City, Underground Shopping was fun, most of the underground buildings were connected underground, get a map to get aquintated , mostly everyone speak French , but you easily get by with English as well. I would suggest the hotel to see if they can manage to have/include boiled eggs with the breakfast. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel, although it is in a slightly seedy part of town, has a great location. Easy walking distance to the old part of Montreal, fast food restaurants (essential when traveling with kids) and a supermarket just up the road. Service was very friendly and helpful. The guys on the front desk couldn't have been more helpful, and went out of their way […] to retrieve an item that was left behind when we left. A big plus for us was the off-street parking next to the hotel. Saved the hassles and expense of finding something commercial. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good Value for your money"
Sure, the hotel is dingy, the walls could use new paint, and the elevator smelled terrible. But, we weren't looking for luxury accommodations. What we got was a cozy room with hardwood floors, friendly staff, clean bathroom, strong hot showers, and best of all, breakfast brought to our room! We also really liked the location of this hotel. It's just […] around the corner from dozens of restaurants, coffee shops, and other stores (pharmacy, book store, etc), yet off the main road so it's not noisy. Also, parking can be tricky in such a busy area, but the hotel has its own parking lot! I found the staff very friendly, and breakfast arrived promptly at the requested time. There are a lot of people complaining about this hotel on this website, giving it a bad review. But seriously, what are they expecting for this price? A hotel can't afford to update the bedding and paint every few years unless it charges high rates! Personally, I'm totally fine with sacrificing frills for for a good bargain. This hotel certainly has no frills, nothing fancy, but it's a solid place to stay in Montreal without breaking the bank, and we'll definitely go back there if we visit Montreal again. The hotel is close to downtown but a bit sketchy at night. Parking is tight but always available - ask for the gated additional parking lot if needed. Staff is very nice and extremely helpful. "Vehicle ransacked in hotel parking lot"
Listing free parking as one of Hotel St. Andre's amenities was a draw. Now that we've visited I can see why people pay for parking...you want to be safe! Items were stolen out of our car, glove compartment gone through, although no broken windows. I never feared for my safety and the area is rife with homeless peopleGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great price for what you get"
Great location, free wireless internet, free parking, free breakfast (delivered to my room). Not a very attractive interior, but it was clean enough. Overall great value for thrifty travelers (but not professional-level comfort for business travelers, or something like that).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just about what we expected"
This hotel was conveniently located near the metro and half a block off St. Catherine street. Free parking and a nice breakfast delivered to your room in the morning is why I would recommend this hotel. We love Hotel St. Andre, it's a great value, free parking (rare) free internet (rare) and free breakfast brought to your room every morning. Croissant et Baguette! Coffee or tea. Very nice staff. We used to stay at 4 star hotels in Montreal, but St. Andre is where we only stay now.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Place to See Montreal"
The hotel was reasonably clean and comfortable, but above all convenient to Montreal, both the Old Port section and the newer sections of town. There is limited parking, but it's secure and I had no worries about having my car parked there.Genuine Expedia guest review

Considering it's an older building, very little upgrading was done to it. When people travel with luggages, the front steps to get to the lobby is not good. The floors along the corridors and room are uneven and it squeaks. The best part is the croissant served at breakfast. The air conditioner in the room is extremely loud. One will need to bring his/her […] own hangers for hanging clothes. There is no complimentary shampoo/conditioner or lotion. For the price of the room, that is pretty basic. There is no locked safe in the room. The bathroom smelled like someone smoked in it. The fan in the bathroom didn't work. Otherwise, the staff are friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel close to activities"
The location is good, on a quiet street but close to activities. All the hotel staff is helpful, respectful and smiling.Genuine Expedia guest review
Was fine for what I needed. The breakfast which is delivered in the morning is a nice touch. Unfortunately it is not very soundproof. I'm a bit of a light sleeper and every time a door opened or someone came down the hallway I was awakened. Other than that is was OKGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The positive is that the room was big enough for one person et very well located but this is where the positive ends! The walls of the room were dirty, spots with missing paint and hair all over the bathroom... Not very inviting to take a shower. Also the room was poorly equipped: old broken furniture from the eighties, no phone (so obliged to use own […] cell phone for local calls so meaning long distance fees for me) and not even an alarm clock to see the time at night... They have, it seems, a special tradition that is to leave your breakfast on the floor in the hallway because I couldn't open the door on time (in the shower). Well this was the first and the last time in that hotel. One more comment: the staff should learn how to smile but when you are hire young teenagers dressed up with jeans and t-shirts at the reception office (doing homework it looks like), can you hope for more? "Another Fun Run to Montreal"
Le St. Andre is a long standing staple in our hotels of choice in Montreal. Proximity to the village, value and convenience to driving easily in and out of the city make it an practical option when in town. Can't comment on the breakfasts any more because we're always awake too late to try the delivered breakfast tray (but while in room 116 - beside […] the elevator - at the end of the hallway - the floor boards did a good job of getting us well awake earlier than anticipated ;-( ). Yes - the hallway floor boards do squeak some but otherwise only other comment is the mattress in room 116 was too soft for our liking - will ask the right question next time I book. I continue to recommend as good value for the money. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
A person's experience with a hotel is a combination of the hotel itself and the expectations of the person staying there. This is not a 5 star hotel ... it is a budget hotel. Having said that, the staff were very friendly. The continental breakfast delivered to the room was excellent. The location is very close to the metro (literally just steps away) […] but is also in an area of town that tends to be a bit seedy. (rue Ste. Catherine's Est).
