Insert your key into the switchplate at the door and get TONS more light in your room!! We didn't know this ahead of time and now wish we hadn't found out about it on our third day! Free internet and a very friendly and helpful front desk staff can't be beat - just wish the breakfast buffet had been better stocked on the morning we went.

The room had all of the conveniences one could ask for and it was super-clean. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in! Great pillows - and they even give you several choices of them. Most are in Spanish and Euskera but this isn't. Take a cab, as I found the bus driver and a taxi driver I asked to be less than helpful. However, some other folks more than made up for it by not only giving me directions but escorting me to the hotel! Eskerrik asko! There is a problem with the elevators and stairs. If you check out before 7 am the elevator from your room can not get you to the lobby and thus you have to carry your luggage over 15 stair steps because there is also no bell boys to help you until 7 am. Vey inconvenient for older persons.

I was very pleased with my stay here at the Silken. The staff was very accommodating and the rooms were nice, though quite small for US standards. Walking distance from the Fine Arts museum and the Guggenheim, there isn't a lot of need for taxis or public transportation. The neighborhood is safe, but offers nothing for the tourist thirsty for sights. […] The hotel itself is very nice, but for the cost, there are some areas that could use improvement. The staff at reception offered advice as to places to eat, but didn't know the name nor the exact location of one restaurant! The hotel boasts having a menu of different types of pillows, but after waiting 20 minutes for the cervical pillow I ordered, the staff person returned with one of the same type of pillows already on the bed. Later, someone called to admit that that location didn't offer different types of pillows. The hotel apparently had two wings. My friend and I were on the wing facing the city, the side without a view. So, I cannot comment on the conditions of the rooms of the other side, but I wonder if the rooms would be as cramped. Our room had two beds side-by-side and very little other furniture but was extremely cramped with two of us and our luggage. I had requested separate beds and there was, in theory, a crack between the beds. In the US I would've rejected this room. The hotel was spotless and quiet. The lobby shiny and fancy-looking. I enjoyed my stay and it more than met my needs, but it missed the mark on some elements to get 5 stars from me. Read more

The hotel was ok . some of receptionists know some English and helpful. The free shuttle to airport was terrible and driver know a word of English. dropped of us in wrong terminal and had to walk to the other terminal with 3 logs. for 15 min. inside the airport.

Apart from an initial disinterested check in, the rest of the staff were helpful, the hotel was warm, comfortable, clean and relaxing. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk down to the Guggenheim and easy to walk to any of the key City sites. Concierge (thank you) was very helpful in finding out about winter timetable boat tours (much recommended, Bilbao […] Boats). Tip: it says free wifi - but that is only to use on websites - you need to pay to use email on wifi (quite common in hotels nowadays). Taxi ride to airport on a Sunday was only 15 minutes. Read more

As a seasoned world travel, I would rate this amongst the best. Excellent breakfast bar, one of the best that I have come across. The view from the bedroom not inspiring but location good for getting around Bilbao. Hope to be staying there again soon

The hotel was well located for the cirty centre and we had a large room with a very comfortable bed. We had booked the wrong day but they still booked us in the the extra day we needed. Hotel is in a good location - walking distance to the Guggenheim. Public areas of hotel nice and an excellent buffet breakfast with huge choice of good quality food including lots of fresh fruit. Although the rooms and ensuite bathroom large, they are a bit dated, tired, bland and in need of a freshen up. Wifi seems to be limited to one mobile device […] per room! Would not classify this hotel as 4 star, more like 3 star. The staff were not very friendly and the bathrooms need updating, the bath does not drain properly. The sink and bath tub had black marks on it but it was not dirt just old. When I first entered the room the room smelt of cigarette smoke, my friend also noticed the smell. I called reception […] and they were not very helpful or polite and told me that it was a non smoking and did not offer me a change in rooms. It is well located, near the new town and close to bus stops and metro. It is about 20 to 30 minutes away from the old town. It is close to amenities but quiet so I had an undisturbed sleep. I booked this hotel because it was on offer and would recommend booking it if there is an offer on. I would not book this hotel unless it is on offer as it definitely is not 4 star quality. We are a couple in our early sixties. We found this hotel to be ideal for our needs for a short break in Bilbao. It is a 15 minute stroll to the guggenheim Museum, through safe streets. This was our first time visit and it took a day or two for us to get our bearings. The hotel itself is a peaceful oasis in the middle of a bustling city and the staff were courteous, knowledgable and our requests were always met with a smile. When travelling into town for 1.35 Euro on the bus from the airport, get off at Plaza Moyua (Carlton Hotel) and you are no more than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. For travel around town and out to Portugalete (well worth a visit for it's culture, tapas bars and resturants) buy a Creditrans ticket for 5, 10 or 15 Euro and this allows you to hop from Metro to bus to tram ,,, all of these classed as one journey if completed in 1hr 15m. In general the Silken is a pretty good hotel, which feels pretty luxurious. On arrival the lobby is bright and well cooled which is great to get into out of the street. The bar at the hotel is pretty good too- its small but has everything you need and the barman there is friendly and the service is very good. My room was'nt huge but was easily big […] enough for our needs and was well equipped and very comfortable- the only complaint I would have is that the walls between neighbouring rooms seem pretty thin and so TV noise, people coming in late at night etc travels easily between the bedrooms although it's not a major issue. Location wise its pretty good too- close to cafe's and bars, some other venues like the alhondiga and a metro station at indatxu from where you can travel all round the city and beyond. Its about 10-15 mins easy stroll into the old town, which worked out about perfect for us as it gave all the pintxos we'd gorged out on in the old town a chance to settle before we reached the hotel and there are plenty of bars and food places on the way back in case you feel like night-cap before you settle in for the night. This hotel is only 20 minutes walk from Guggenheim Museum and bus station and is only a few minutes walk from the nearest metro station which is useful for the old town. The hotel invites you in with a massive lobby area where the staff were really helpful. This is a lovely hotel and within walking distance of the main tourist sites. Be aware if driving to hotel as the garage is very hard to get to until you know the secret of the one way system. Just pull up on the roundabout (everyone parks anywhere!!) and go to reception. They have ready prepared maps.

3日間滞在しました。　グケンハイム美術館、　市の中心街へも１０分くらい歩いて行け、　地下鉄の駅へも５分、　ビスカヤ橋へ行くのも非常に便利なところです。　なにより　ホテルの部屋は清潔で静か　広さも充分あり　値段がお手ごろです。ホテル　スタッフの対応も良く　充実した滞在となりました。　もちろんこの地区のレストランの料理は　サンセバスチャン同様に　質が高く、　美味しく　楽しめました。

Der Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm. Das Hotel war gut zu finden, als wir mit dem Bus vom Flughafen kamen. Man kam gut mit englisch zurecht. Das Frühstücksbuffet war richtig gut, reichhaltig und abwechslungsreich. Man konnte Sehenswürdigkeiten gut zu Fuß erreichen. Jederzeit wieder.

Correcto, trato amable y limpieza, intalaciones un poco desfasadillas (mucha moqueta...) pero muy limpio. Parking un poco incomodo (bajar muy despacio al final de la rampa, tiene mucha pendiente y si el coche es un poco bajo puedes rozar con la parte baja del parachoques) El hotel en general lo recomiendo.

Aunque no está en el centro se puede ir dando un paseo. La habitación es suficientemente amplia. Como inconveniente, toda la zona es de aparcamiento regulado (azul o verde) con tarifas bastante caras, pero es así en casi todo Bilbao.

Personal versteht kaum Englisch, ist nicht sehr freundlich, Fragen werden z.T. falsch beantwortet (Öffnungszeiten Touristinfo etc.) Zimmerservice nimmt 2. Hotelkarte = Zimmerschlüssel mit, die im Zimmer gelassen wurde. Diese musste erst wieder an der Reception zurückgefordert werden. Klimaanlage funktioniert erst, wenn die Hotelkarte = Zimmerschlüssel […] eingesteckt wird bei Betreten des Raumes und es dauert lange, bis Temperatur angenehm ist. Read more

Bra läge trots trafik ,tyst på natten . Relativt god service.Vi hade problem med el och TV.WiFi var jobbig med ny Inloggn varje dag. En strömförande blinkande sängbordslampa. Portieren kom och tog bort den, nästa dag hade den satts tillbaka med samma fel . Bra frukost och prisvärd bra restaurang .
