The Haven Inn Sydney - Glebe

Our room was clean, but very old, worn carpeting. The staff was friendly and helped us if we had requests or questions. We had most of what we needed for an overnight stay, or asked for it. The neighborhood was fine with small restaurants nearby with good food.

After reading the reviews before hand we were very hesitant about our stay, but we found our room to be clean and comfortable and had great views of the city. The receptionist was lovely, we were even given a free DVD for the night. I would recommend the pub across the road for dinner and Naggy's cafe for a lovely breakfast.

The Hotel caters to a lower end student-type of individual but there are a lot of great cafe's in the neighborhood and even a library right across the street.

The hotel is very well located, with too many restaurants in a few meters. Accomodation is modest but very clean. Only problem was about internet wireless connection (a little bit expensive and slow speed). What might be a tough problem to keep in contact with home...

This was a dirty run down hotel with no working heat in the room during winter in Sydney. The room needs cleaning and scrubbing with disinfectant before I would stay in it again. dirty walls and a filthy bed cover. I am still itching from my one night there.

I loved the street we were staying on and thought it was the perfect location for exploring Sydney. Unfortunately the room had a very bad odour of cigarette smoke and the same odour was in the foyer. The patio was in disrepair and had a lot of water on it. A nice surprise, outside of building is a bit shabby, but the room was spacious and clean. The bus was just outside and took us to everything we needed, and there is a light rail station close by. Environs are pretty and Glebe is a lovely suburb.

The room advertised a balcony room and when I asked why I didnt get one I was told hotel.com must have advertised it incorrectly as balcony rooms are more expensive. It was like water torture all night long with the constant dripping noise and the bucket did not catch all the water. This hotel was considered satisfactory for the price. Customer service was great and friendly with staff assisting well in check-in when I arrived much earlier than check-in time. Room was clean with airconditioning. Location was close to Darling Harbour beng less than $10 taxi fare under 5 minutes drive.

This was a really awful decision to book this hotel. Fortunately I only stayed one night. The hotel is grubby, basically, and seems to attract grubby, loud people who spent most of the evening and early morning banging doors loudly and shouting from their balconies (each bedroom has a balcony) even if this was a Friday night. The room was very basic […] and while clean, the shower / toilet area was pretty yuk. The soap had also been left behind from the previous person. The curtain did not cover the window properly (which looks straight on to the street) and I had to pin it back with a couple of pins for modesty. Each of the rooms is reached off a tiled verandah - as in the Spanish style. This accentuates the noise. The windows are only single glazed and the door to the balcony also lets in a lot of sound. In addition to the loud nature of the other guests all night, the traffic noise on Glebe Point Road is absoutely horrendous. And when that died down in the early hours of the morning the local birds started up! So I got very little sleep, the room was very basic and to cap it all there is no lift. In addition, to get from the tram stop to the hotel is indeed a relatively short walk, but up a massive incline and steps immediately after the tram stop which with heavy cases is near impossible. My advice is to avoid this hotel. Read more

I was pleasantly surprise, as I'd read some of the other reviews and wasn't sure what to expect. For the proximity to the city and price, I thought the hotel was quite good. I only needed it to sleep in as I was at a conference and Glebe is a really nice little area. Has some cute little cafes and restaurants close to the hotel. My room clean and the […] bathroom was great. There was a good showerhead, the bathroom was really clean and more modern than I thought it'd be. If I was to say anything negative, it would just be that the hotel is on a noisy street, but that is not the hotel's fault. I could hear buses going past late at night. The hotel room did not have a balcony as stated on the website. we had a room with no opening except for the door which was disappointing as we had to stay out all the time. The doors slam hard at all time of the day and part of the night which can be disturbing, the 110 room door is the worse.

Having a bad back, I missed a lift, but the price was so reasonable, I made do.I had to ask for a chair & a DVD player, & the safe needed a new battery to work, & the shower dripped the whole week I was there, but it didn't bother me if I closed the door. Hotel staff are obviously not trained in hospitality and talk to you as if you were interrupting them at their job. The hotel location is great, just off the CBD, with lots of restaurants and shops in this nice area (Glebe). The room was clean overall but the cups and cutlery hadn't been cleaned in a long while by the look of it.
