"poor cleanliness & maintenance but great staff"
Besides the great helpful staff, this place was a complete disaster. I have never been to ATL so when i got to the room, i was looking for a welcome pamphlet and there wasn't one available and neither was a TV guide. Also in the room, the bathroom door knob was broken off, the shower curtain had dark brown and red gunk on it, and dark brown curly hair […] was stuck on the walls in the shower and i have blonde straight hair. Also the tissue box in the bathroom had wadded tissues thrown back in the box and it was disgusting. On the other hand, each staff member I came in contact with were very nice. Front desk was very helpful and told me about the city and gave me brochures and the breakfast buffet staff were very friendly when it was early in the morning and the valet was extremely helpful and shuttle driver was very nice. "Convenience and cost"

"Nice folks, but hotel is falling apart"
The staff at the Fairfield were consistently friendly and helpful. While the staff were great, the hotel itself has seen better days. The paint in the bathroom was peeling, the sink was cracked, and one of the closet door handles was falling off. The air conditioning was controlled by a thermostat hanging by wires from the wall, and didn't appear to […] be able to handle the mild Atlanta whether (highs in the mid-80's during the day). Internet access from the hotel wasn't working for the first two days of my stay, although that was ultimately resolved and after that was perfectly acceptable. I booked this hotel thinking about the central location to the GA Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta. I'm glad we got there in the daylight because I wouldn't want to be on the streets at night. "Worst location ever. Valet parking nightmare."
First of all the location is bad. Drug deals going on outside. Valet parking wrecks car and hotel says it's not responsible. Only one elevator worked and we had to use stairs. Stayed on fith floor. The room/bathroom was nice and clean. Had to pick up sheets and blankets for the pull out couch because the maid didn't leave it in the room. t thought this hotel was closer to the Georgia Aquarium and Coca Cola Museum. It would've been a nice walk but I wouldn't recommend walking through the surrounding neighborhood. The hotel does offer a free shuttle […] to any attraction within 2 miles of the hotel. Ask for Alphonso, he's their best driver! There are only two elevators and one was broken. Then my friend and I were stuck in the other for about 20 minutes. "Cowboy rides away and won't come back."
We booked through Hotels.com for a concert at Phillips Arena. Our room was on the 17th floor and they only had one very small elevator working. The elevator was stopping on every floor on the way up and down because people on every floor were pressing both buttons just to try to get on. It took us 20 minutes to get down and it took some people much […] longer. They gave us coupons for free drinks at the bar but the bar was closed at 11:30. The hallway in the 17th floor was flooded and there didn't appear to be anyone working on it. If you called ahead to have the valet get your car they blocked them in for lack of parking area and you ended up waiting longer than if you didn't call ahead. I love the Mariott name and hotels. This in no way, shape or form meet this. Charged a fee to valet park, I parked the car outside and turned key over to valet and the car never moved. Hotel was ok. Heat in room did not work, no trash bags in trashcan and, tub was dirty. Had a guest come look for me and my room phone didn't ring. I was sleeping and I am a light sleeper. My guest caught the last train and couldn't stay in the lobby. "Convenience is everything"
The hotel was in an area that needs Security 24/7. I was not aware at time of booking. Our truck could not fit in the parking garage so we had to valet park - $30/night. Very small lobby. Very friendly hotel staff. Accommodating valet staff, called us by name :) Disappointed with the bar/lounge area, it wasn't open when we got there around 9 ish. Our […] room was comfy. only (1) tv remote with (2) tvs. the 15th floor, which we stayed, did not have an ice machine so we had to travel down to the 11th floor. The A/C unit had a relay switch malfunction. We turned on the a/c and heat came out. Our room heated up to 80 degrees. Very uncomfortable! Front reception couldn't do anything for us at the time but they put in a work order request for our room. Maintenance took care of the problem for a while. No Heat just A/c until the relay switch was replaced. We stayed for (2) days b/c of a national cheer event in Atlanta. Shuttle was available however no one was able to travel until after 6:45 a.m. Therefore we had to drive out and find add'tl parking at the event! We weren't too pleased about that. Now, others may have taken shuttle but we had to be at the event earlier. Can't tell you about breakfast. Didn't get a chance to eat because breakfast wasn't available until 7 a.m. We didn't complain to management, we dealt with it. It is what it is!! Our overall experience was a 3 of 5. "Atlanta Market Stay"
Our arrival was wonderful! Edith at the front desk made our day! Checked in, car unloaded, bags in our room & on the shuttle & in market less than a hour. Breakfast ladies are absolutely adorable. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Alphonso running the shuttle was FANTASTIC! He was so dependable and where he said he would be, when he said he would […] be. Not so much for the replacements. Friday afternoon after market, go to Indian Restaurant where pickup was to be. We called, again, again & other guests waiting with us called. We were told first that she was waiting in front of the restaurant, she wasn't, The next 3 times we were told the same thing several times, it will be 10 minutes. It ended up being a hour. By the time the shuttle arrived we had way too many guests waiting, we crammed 13 passengers into the shuttle. I know Alphonso can't work every shift, but he should train the others. I had overheard Edith at the front desk saying one of the front desk concierge would be filling in as the driver that night. Friday night of Atlanta Market, bad idea! Desk busy, guests left waiting high & dry (Not, it was raining). When we arrived at the hotel 2nd night we found our room nice & neat, everything clean, but coffee, cups, tissues nor toilet paper had been replaced. Had to go downstairs 11:30 PM to retrieve. The hotel is at the underground and close enough to georgia dome and phillips area to walk to. The biggest problem is it is at a noisy location due to mass transit station next to it and the railroads that run through there in the middle of the night. The biggest problem is that I booked a king bed with queen sized sofa bed to sleep myself, my wife, my son, and his friend. What I got was a king size bed and a small loveseat bed, in no way was that a queen. I was told by staff that they had no queen sofa bed, and that I must have misread. When I checked my confirmation email it did not say queen sofabed, […] just sofabed. I thought for a minute that I must have misread. When I got home I decided to look again and guess what I found in their room description?! "This room overlooks the city. Get a good night's sleep with a pillow menu and pillowtop bed with premium bedding and cotton linens. The private bathroom has a shower/tub combination, as well as complimentary toiletries and a hair dryer. Complimentary wired and wireless Internet access keeps you connected, and the flat-screen TV is offered for your entertainment. The private kitchenette is stocked with a refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffee/tea maker. Air conditioning, a separate living room, and a queen sofa bed are among the conveniences offered.
