Newark’s main airport is a gateway to Greater New York City. Travelers who rush to Manhattan, however, will miss some of the Garden State’s best attractions. The Prudential Center and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center are two key anchors of downtown’s growing entertainment district. Nearby, the Newark Museum is a top-notch institution that houses American, African, Asian, and Classical art.

I had to stay here for a week because of work (in Newark), and would recommend it for that purpose only, as there are no better alternatives at a reasonable price (especially as they offer free on-site parking). I would NOT recommend it as a place to stay if all you want to do is see NYC or are headed to the airport- in that case there are cheaper, better hotels in much better areas (it's in the best park of Newark, but it still has a long ways to go). Perhaps my impression was wrong, but the hotel had numerous homeless-types who appeared to be living in the hotel, and were generally very loud, and not terribly considerate of other guests. The walls are very thin, which made things worse.

Whe we arrived the room they gave us was small and right next to the elevator, which was noisy. We complained and they gave us a much better room - quiet, more closet space, a refrigerator. The breakfast was good. Parking was easy though my son used public tranportation and it was very convenient to New York City. It is also close to the "Ironbound" area of Newark which has great Portuguese and Spanish restaurants.

Room was too small. I think the bathroom was bigger than the actual bedroom. There was a lady shouting profanities or whatever it was to her husband and none of the hotel staff intervened. Mind you it was early in the morning... But aside from all of that the continental breakfast was one of the best....

The hotel itself was nice and close to NJ Penn Station which is a 15 min ride to NYC, but that does not make up for the hotel staff. The agent at night, I think his name is Dominick was just about as RUDE as they come. I am not sure how Best Western can run their business with people like him working there. I would not recommend this hotel due to his lack of customer service. The room itself was a little on the small side, but who really cares about the size when you are just sleeping there. The restaurant was nice, but a little overpriced for its quality of food. Next time I come to Newark, I will NOT be staying there.

This hotel has a wonderful continental breakfast. The staff, with exception of the front desk, are exceptionally nice. The worst part of our stay was the shuttle. We had a quick half night stay before our flight across the country. We stayed because of the airport shuttle. It took 30 minutes for the shuttle to arrive ("It'll be there in 10 minutes.") and upon checking in, I asked specifically about the morning schedule. "Oh, it goes when you're ready." Next morning: we go downstairs at 5:05. Same person said, sorry, it leaves on the half hour. You missed it. We had to pay $30 to get to the airport.

The hotel was great, and I expected the area to be sketchy (which it was, but no one bothered us). Kind of confusing getting to and from Penn Station, but during the day there is a shuttle and a $4 cab ride when we got lost at 2am. You can hear everything in the next room in the bathroom, but it wasn't too bad. Free parking was a plus, but I'm sure it gets filled up pretty quick. They let us keep our car there after we checked out so we could enjoy the city for a few more hours before we left to go home. The air didn't work so the room got super hot in the middle of the night and we had to open the window, then close it when car alarms went off and locals were outside screaming at 4am, and then open it again when it was super hot again. The security guard seemed to be kind of rude and unhelpful, and the staff was kind of rough around the edges, but not outright rude so I guess I can't complain...Overall, I would consider staying here again!

A very good hotel with excellent facilities. Breakfast was excellent as was the availability of computers and fitness gym. The room was well equipped but was L shaped which wrapped around the elevator shaft proving slightly noisy at times - mainly in the early evenings, but this was not a major problem. The hotel was within walking distance of Newark Penn station - so getting into New York was easy. The area was pleasant with shops and restaurants. The hotel also provided, every half hour, a free shuttle bus to Penn station and the Airport. Staff were very pleasant.

We stayed at the Robert Treat hotel for 4 nights and it was a lovely stay. The room was relatively large and very clean, although the furniture a little outdated - not that it matters. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, but all you really need on holiday...it had everything you needed - toiletries, clean towels, bathtub and a powerful shower. The room insulation was pretty good as we never heard our neighbours, however i did hear the maids in the corridors on the odd morning. The staff were super friendly - especially one of the conceirge's! The free shuttle to and from the airport and Newark Penn station was really handy ... whenever we needed it we have a lift within 5 minutes!

We needed a place to stay for three days as we volunteered nearby in Jersey City. At the time I went on hotels.com, this was the best deal in the Newark/Jersey City area. It is an older hotel but very clean. Very little parking area but we didn't have to pay an extra fee so that worked out. It was directly across the street from the NJPAC but no shows were there when we stayed during the week. I would recommend this place for the price & area.

The room was clean and comfortable, no problems there. The breakfast had what I consider a wide variety of food, more than other hotels I've stayed at.
