Enjoyed a night's stay at the Madison Concourse last week, and experienced exceptional service from both the front desk team and the restaurant colleagues. Room was fine, good bed, quiet and easy access to basement garage for all my luggage. Restaurant in the lobby was outstanding, and they happily seated me and waited on me patiently even though I showed up 15 minutes before closing (9:45, they closed at 10 pm). Happy to recommend and return.

The construction did not result in anything close to quiet rooms. Voices in hallways carried right under the doors and through the walls. We were next to the maid cart storage room and the wall was repeatedly shaken by cars bumping into the common wall. Others in our group got lower all in rates directly from the hotel. It did not pay to use Hotels.com at all.

I was disappointed when we got to our room - the hallway and our hotel room smelled of cigarette smoke and it was a non-smoking floor/room. The staff were very kind to change our room but the new room still smelled although less. The bathroom was quite small.

The Madison Concourse was a great place to stay - especially for those looking for a hotel convenient to State Street or the Capitol. The University of Wisconsin is within walking distance - but it's not a short walk, so allow plenty of time and wear comfortable shoes if you're walking there. However, the hotel shuttle was great about taking and picking up guests. The room (not a Governor's level room) was very clean and comfortable overall, but could have used a little updating. Staff members were all friendly and helpful. A great experience overall - would definitely stay there again.

Since being recently renovated, the Concourse is probably my favorite hotel in downtown Madison. Have relatively cheap parking, a friendly concierge, and pillowtop beds in the room I stayed at. They also have a bar attached which is nice. The only negative thing I can say about the hotel is that for the price, I feel like I have stayed in much more expensive hotels than this one for cheaper. I guess I was expecting that, as this is a prime location and the best in the area.

Just home from a conference at the Monona Conference Center. I booked the Concourse for location, its proximity to State St and an easy walk to the conference being a huge plus. I wasn't expecting much. I'd stayed at the Concourse some years ago when the Conference hotel booked us there because they were full, and at that time it was pretty shabby and gave off a feeling of everything being not quite sanitary - not really dirty, but not very clean either. Well, the shabby is gone and so is the sense of general staff indifference. I had a perfectly comfortable stay at the hotel, enjoyed my interactions with the hotel staff, and will definitely think of the Concourse as my new choice for downtown Madison lodging. In terms of staff and facilities, the Madison Concourse is a 3 star hotel: No valet parking, no concierge, limited bell staff, no 24-hour room service, etc. But the staff they do have are beautifully trained, friendly, and helpful beyond the call of duty and I'd rather find that than some of the staff I've dealt with at some of the 'finer' hotels that offer more services. I'll be back.

This hotel gives the immediate impression of opulence. The front-desk staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The attached parking garage is well lit and clean. Pool and hot tub were extremely nice and quiet. The room itself (Single King) was large and well lit with a nice variety of lighting options and two plush chairs in addition to the desk and chair. The bathroom was average, but clean. The only problem experienced during this stay was that the bed linens bore light stains across much of the bed.

Couple small complaints: One is that the walls are very thin---we had to move because of a crying baby in the room next to us; it might as have been in the room with us! But the staff was very helpful & got us a room 2 doors down from our original. I'm not thrilled that they charge additional fees to park in their garage, but it is underground which is nice. Pool was a little small, but heated & very clean, hot tub could have used with a bit of cleaning (some staining from chemicals I think but wasn't sure) but was otherwise nice as well. They also had a nice game room w/ microwave. One nice perk was we had a great view of the state capitol outside our windows which was really nice. Staff was great & very helpful, and it is a very nice hotel for a get-away weekend.
