"easy access to ferry to San Francisco"
Nice rooms, hung out at night around the gas fire place by the pool, pool was good as well. Very nice folks, friendly - wine and cheese night was a nice touch; valet folks were helpful and kind; Oakland was not the main destination but area had nice restaurants very close by, safe; close to ferryGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place to stay for taking the ferry to the Giant's game.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"cool hotel on Oakland waterfront"
Very nice hotel and the double pane windows were a plus since the train goes right by the hotel!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The place to be"
Amazing hotel with great views and a wonderful staff, beautiful location very near the water too.The room was clean and big and so comfortable and the bed was fantastic too.If your in Oakland near Jack London Square this is your hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"More Kid Friendly Than I Thought"
I've stayed here often for business. But I had to bring the kids with me on this trip. The facilities and location are well suited for the kids. The facilities were clean, staff were friendly to them, and there were restaurants nearby that serve kid-friendly food. And they were not fast food places either! If I had to bring the kids to the Bay Area, […] this is a good option. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Choice for Oakland Wedding Visit"
We had a wedding in Oakland and wanted a place that was close enough to drive. Waterfront Hotel staff was nice, valet parking was so nice after a late night of dancing with friends, and our room and be was comfy. Overall, great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely and So Friendly"
We enjoyed the hotel so much we booked an extra night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Loud, Disappointing Suite"
We paid extra for a nice suite and was pretty disappointed. The suite didn't have a fridge and the balcony was a joke. There was no privacy and it was super small - not worth the money. I've stayed in a standard room at this hotel that had a fridge and also had a fireplace -- so it was surprising that the suite is actually worse than a standard room. […] On top of that, it was extremely noisy. The train woke us up all night and the walls are thin, so the neighbors were annoying. The neighborhood does not have any nearby pharmacies or grocery stores and the restaurants are all very pricy. If you venture out to the closest pharmacy, you'll find yourself in a dangerous part of town. We had to go to the pharmacy and when we went, there was a protest going on, and they were screaming "Somebody died here, we need to care!" Eek. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"a weekend in Oakland"
The locationis great with some nice restaurants to eat at.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay was fine. The walls are a little thin though. The people in the room next door had a huge fight in the middle of the night and we could hear every word.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is a total waste of money! The room was clean and the valets were great. The check-in/check-out people were uncaring. The furniture rattled when I walked by, the walls were VERY thin, the room was very small. The coffeemaker didn't work (unhappy husband without his morning coffee!). Unfortunately, it was the only hotel close to the Amtrak […] station and the trip was about the train ride, so there wasn't any other choice getting in a 10:00 at night. "Beautiful waterfront view"
I had such a good time at this hotel. They made sure we were comfortable. Gave us a beautiful bottle of wine and two AMAZING little cupcakes as a wedding gift. Not much but just right enough to show they cared. The waterfront view was amazing with an incredibly big balcony. The staff was incredibly friendly. The only downfall is parking otherwise you […] have to pay $25.00 for valet. However, it was all well worth it. Definitely would go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Next to train tracks"
Ear plugs offered by the front desk. AC is very noisy. Great location; major touch-up but the skeleton is of an old, out of date, hotel. Overall stay was OK - but hte star rating and cost are exaggerated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful, friendly service"
The hotel made sure my husband's birthday was extra special, with cupcakes, balloons, and champagne waiting for us in the room. We stayed in a suite, which was spacious and had a balcony with a wonderful view. Will come back again soon!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We hav liked to enjoy some hot water instead of Luke warm water...we made the best of thee best.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Oakland location"
This hotel is a throw-back to another era, tho update and very comfortable. Great waterfront location, much more interesting than downtown Oakland. A stone's throw from the ferry to downtown SF. Very convenient. We had a car so that made it easy to get around and get to places we needed to be. Valet parking is $25 per night, a bit pricey, but very convenient. […] Staff was very helpful and courteous. We had a great room with balcony overlooking the Oakland harbor with a view of the SF skyline on sunny days. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
There have been many improvements to the hotel complex since we last stayed. The rooms and common areas have been updated. Still, the hotel has old bones and in our case, we did not have a quiet sleep since our room was next to a hallway near the elevator. Otherwise, a very pleasant place to stay and you can walk to restaurants and the marinas along […] Jack London Square. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Better than SF"
We recently had a 3 night stay for our visit to "The Bay". Originally booked in Union Square in SF but found this place last minute. I really liked the smaller more intimate feel of the Waterfront. We didn't explore much of the hotel, but everything we did see was really nice and they really play up the nautical aspect of it. Hotel and rooms were always […] clean and the staff was uber helpful and polite at each encounter. We booked a city view king, small but OK. We asked for an upgrade the next day, very reasonable. Valet staff was always friendly and on point, never had to wait more than a few minutes for the car, they have ice cold water and lemonade in the lobby and coffee in the seated lobby area at all times. Yes, the walls are thin, but nothing to really complain about. Our first night was a breeze. In the balcony rooms it can get noisy, we were right by the pool/marina, great view but yes, you can hear the kids in the pool at 10am and the normal sounds from the boats docking and such. The second room was significantly larger and worth the upgrade if you as me. Freeways are withing a few blocks drive and it does get backed up at the toll when going over the bay bridge so allow for an extra 20-30 mins if you're heading into SF. My only complaint is that there is almost NOTHING open in Oakland after 10pm Bars, yes...eateries...No. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fun time in the Bay Area"
Really excellent hotel. Great vibe, great view, nice rooms, super Staff. We have stayed many times and will continue to make this our SF Bay Area HQ.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beware of the room just above the lobby."
Not satisfies, the service was not professional .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wouldn't stay anywhere else"
This is our place when we visit family in San Francisco, it's quiet. The hotel staff are wonderfulGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the location and proximity to restaurants, walks along the water, and entertainment venues. Walls seem a bit thin though....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Arrived late after a long drive and did not find front desk staff to be very friendly. The next morning after some rest I still did not find front desk staff to be very friendly. No free parking in the area. Hotel room was nice and location was great for me. I had work to do in the east bay and wanted to spend a day sight seeing in San Francisco. This […] location has good freeway access for my work and was close to BART and Ferry to the city for sight seeing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great views, not as private, shush the cleaners"
Was paint scuffing off walls, but nothing unclean. Cleabjng crew was screaming LOUDLY at off hours to each other.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is literally on the waterfront at Jack London Square. We viewed the sunrise from our balcony and the sunset walking along the waterfront's promenade. The location is convenient (walking distance) to Yoshis, great dining options, movie theater, shopping and ferry service to/from Alameda […] and San Francisco and Amtrak. . "great location and view"
Very nice/quiet place. Convenient location--lots to do locallyGenuine Expedia guest review
Our stay at The Waterfront Hotel would have been perfect if not for some rowdy String Cheese Incident fans. The hotel was well designed and decorated, but thin walls and rambunctious hippies at 1am....2am...4am...made for frustrating nights.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"2nd time's a charm"
This was my second stay at the Waterfront and this time around I had a balcony room on the water. It was much quieter than my last stay. I didn't hear the train rolling through Jack London Square once. As always, the staff was attentive and room was clean and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great local get-away"
Great niche hotel right on the water with clean rooms and great service. Right in the middle of Jack London Square makes it easy to wine and dine and walk back to the hotel. This is my "go to" hotel when I need to stay locally in Oakland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A nice hotel , better than we expected. Perfect spot to visit San Francisco, the ferry was 50 yards from the hotel and only about 4 blocks from the Amtrak station. We had breakfast at a very nice coffee shop very much like Denny's or Carrow's one block east of the hotel. Subway and BevMo are a stones throw away from the hotel. We will stay at Waterfront […] on our next visit to the Bay area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Service was great. The employees are great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location is amazing, staff provided excellent service, cafe was great, room was spacious and comfortable. The only downside was the insulation between rooms - I had to turn on a 12-hr YouTube "white noise" maximum volume to muffle the conversations next door and get some sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Went to visit our son who recently relocated to Oakland. Enjoyed the hotel and it's walking proximity to everything! I definitely recommend the upgrade to a waterfront room. The hotel had all the amenities we needed and a nice nautical decor. We would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel on the water"
The hotel walls are thin, you are able to hear your neighbors very well. Depending upon your room location and who is around you this can be a problem. I have stayed in larger rooms and did not here the people around me as much.Genuine Expedia guest review
We spent a few days here. Loved the view of the docks, and even though the trains goes by very frequently, I didn't mind the noise. Really don't hear it in your room. Food choices are limited in the surrounding area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute, Charming, safe and a great area!"
From the drive in, where the car attendants take the car, to check in, to comfort - the Waterfront was excellent! I'm planning on coming back and even bringing my puppy.Genuine Expedia guest review
"For a good time call"
Close to everything... Convenient parking(valet). Great restaurants near and in hotel. If you go to Scott's Seafood next door, make sure to mention you are staying there... We went twice, first night good for two cocktails comped, and next time a bottle of their house red. Hotel comfortable, clean and great staff.. Great views and all the other things […] to lend to a great time in jack London square. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"OAKLAND WATERFRONT HOTEL APRIL 2014"
COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER---UNLESS IT WAS FREE! RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM YOSHI'S JAZZ CLUB & JAPANESE RESTAURANT AND ON THE ESTUARY! ROOM UPGRADED TO BALCONY AND WATER VIEW WAS SPECTACULAR AT NIGHT. WILL DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN WHEN THE JAZZ CLUB HAS ANOTHER GREAT SHOW. BEATS DRIVING HOME AND RISKING A DUI! WE WERE BOTH ALLOWED TO DRINK!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed at the Waterfront many times. The staff is very helpful, the accommodations are stylish, clean, and comfortable, most with bayside views. There are great places to eat within walking distance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed here before and always enjoy my stay. Good location on the waterfront, rooms are comfortable and clean. Some excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk. Don't walk to the freeway as that becomes a bad area. Lots of homeless people, etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great little getaway."
Great hotel. One-half block from SF ferry, close to Bart, on the water. Very friendly, helpful staff. Great room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The valet guys were great! Very thoughtful, always kept my car in the front, since I had to use it a lot. It was our favorite place that we stayed at during our honeymoon road trip up the coast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Trains and Lots of Noise"
With the "City View" room, expect to hear trains late into the evening. I had a corner room that was directly above the garbage area. So heard the door roll up and down many times up until midnight as well as the dumping of bottles into the garbage.....very loud! Otherwise was a nice hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"best place to stay in Oakland"
excellent location- in Jack London Square; convenient to restaurants, nice walks, interesting things to see and do. staff is outstanding, always helpful. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Oakland. It's a little old and dated, but they fixed it up as much as possible, and we always enjoy staying there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful and cozy!"

Really fun place to stay. Only negative is parking isz too expensive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good hotel"
HVAC system and fridge in room were extremely noisy. But this was the only negative of this hotel. These were annoying things, but overall the hotel was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The front desk attendant was rude to start with. The hotel was outdated and although the room was probably clean I never felt clean. I'd receommend looking at other options. I know I won't stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
