"Pleasant one-night stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
The hotel is conveniently located close to the downtown Toronto airport. I think if the weather had been nicer and we didn't have as much luggage, it would have been possible to walk from the airport to the hotel (how often can one say that!) There is alot of construction outside the hotel, so it was tough to find it by car and it was also hard getting a cab later that day. Patience is necessary. The hotel staff was cold and brusque, not accommodating at all. They refused a one-hour late checkout. Also, we asked for a double room, but was given a king because there were no more doubles available. Though the room was an upgrade to a corner "suite," it was still inconvenient. The room itself was lovely. Huge bathroom, clean, comfortable, spacious. We would go back there again, particularly when the weather is nicer and we can explore the harborfront area (there is a shopping mall down the street that looked really nice with restaurants and a supermarket).

"Good location"
Great service clean room and breakfast satafied near downtownGenuine Expedia guest review
Very nice hotel with usual high Holiday Inn Express Standard. Staff was very professional and helpful. Breakfast and internet service were free and better than adequate. Located within walking distance of downtown and old town attractions and public transportation. Minor drawbacks: Located across the street from the Salvation Army Shelter (main hotel […] entrance faces the opposite direction, though), daily parking charge of $ 20.00. Overall, we were very satisfied. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel is located within walking distance to shops and eateries. The price is reasonable for Toronto. Service was good. However, the rooms are small and somewhat outdated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I was only there one night, and was away from the hotel for a majority of the day, but I was disappointed with the cleanliness of he room. Impaired wih other Holiday Inn Expresses.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Stay at Holiday Inn Express."
Free breakfast and wifi was the deciding factor on booking this hotel! I LOVED the pancake maker! I wish I had one at home!!! Loved that the rooms had soft and firm pillows! The staff was very helpful and informative during checking in and checking out was a breeze. The only "bad" thing I could say is that the bed was too soft for me but that's just […] a preference thing. Other than that I would stay here again and recommend it to friends and family! "unbeatable service"
Just spent eight days at Holiday Inn Express Downtown and it was a terrific experience! The location is perfect. Most of the major tourist attractions are an easy walk or short ride on the subway. The room was very clean. The breakfast and Wifi are free and the staff provide unbeatable service. The last time I felt so pampered was when I went on a cruise. […] I give the hotel five stars and the staff ten! Thanks for a great stay and hope to be back soon. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great value"
I attended a conference at the Metro Toronto Convention Center which is about a mile away. I mostly walked to and from the hotel. The hotel is conveniently located, clean, and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast in the mornings was plentiful and fresh.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty god, but a lil pricey"
Pretty god, but a lil pricey. The Hotel was really nice, and in a pretty good location. Although, the price per night was tad high, and parking per day/night is $20 which seemed to be alot since the room per night was already so high.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"YAY"
Everything was great. The hotel is only one of only a few to offer a free breakfast, and it was ok. The only thing I had a problem with was that the air didn't really work in the room. I mean there was air moving around the room it just didn't get to a temperature I would have liked. Other then that my stay was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice stay in Toronto"
This hotel was wonderful. Stayed for one night to attend basketball game at Air Canada Centre. Was in walking distance to the Centre, Hockey Hall of Fame, CN Tower.. "Not Impressed.- Not Satisfied"
People were very nice & helpful. However, Hallway had an awful smell. Room had an awful smell. Drain Pipe under the sink was leaking. No workout room in the Hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient and Comfortable"
Loved the location of this hotel - an easy walk to my conference downtown, and surrounded by great restaurant options. Breakfast was fantastic. The bed was incredibly comfortable - I haven't slept so well in ages! Only complaint was that the sound-proofing could have been better; I could hear my neighbors a little too easily. "Clean, convenient, reasonably priced"
Hotel was clean, convenient, and reasonably priced. Internet worked without a hitch. My conference was at the Sheraton, which was a pleasant 15-minute walk away from the Holiday Inn Express. About half the walk could be underground, in bad weather. I saved about $150 for 2 nights here compared to the Sheraton conference rate. Very close to Jarvis exit […] off the Gardiner Expressway; parking was $20 per night, but I assume other hotels would charge at least that much. Complimentary breakfast included some hot options. Not a lot of frills--e.g., no exercise room or restaurant in the hotel--but still a very good option. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean, Convenient and Cost-effective"
The hotel was quite clean and the staff was very courteous. It is an older hotel so furnishings are a bit outdated, but for the price and location it's an excellent value. The breakfast is free and was actually quite good - bagels, eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, cereal, pancakes, etc. There was no fitness room but again, for the price, it's hard to beat […] this hotel. "Holiday Inn Express Toronto - Downtown"
We had a great experience at this hotel. It was clean, everyone was super helpful, and it was a good price! Very convenient location and we would stay there again. Only thing that was disappointing was the expensive hotel parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Staff - Very accomodating"
My stay at the Holiday Inn Express, Toronto was very comfortable. The room was clean and the staff was very accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice"
Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Many shops and restaurants within walking distance. St. Lawrence Market within walking distance and a must see. Parking is very tight. If you have a SUV or truck cannot park on site. Overall the hotel was clean, breakfast was good, and good location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Toronto after 12 years"
Great Location and ease of access. Breakfast was ok and could have been better. The breakfast room was cramped and 6:30-9:30 time for the buffet could be expanded to 10:30. Staff were pleasant but I have yet to get a room facing the sights of Toronto without asking for it - especially during the lean periods. great hotel, good price and really close to the action. toronto is a wonderful city to visit, very interesting place with a huge variety of things to do and see and the hotel is a good place to stay and start your activities from.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location and price in Toronto"
This is a good place to stay for families. Breakfast is simple but with decent choice; there is easy access to transport; coffee shops and restaurants. On the whole, I found the experience to be better than the reviews I had read prior to booking suggested.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent Value & Convenience"
The Hotel was a GREAT value for a downtown stay, with a staff that was extremely helpful, a breakfast that was top notch and a location that was very convenient to all major attractions in downtown. I will definitely book another stay there the next time I visit Toronto and highly recommend it to other business travelers.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very Good for a no frills hotel room in downtown Toronto"
Decent hotel, courteous staff. They could have more parking available. The location is within walking distance of many of downtown Toronto's main attractions. Many choices for dining and entertainment with in a 1 kilometer radius.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Center of everything!"
We had come to Toronto to see a concert at the Air Canada Center and walked there within minutes. This hotel is at the center of everything. Love the outdoor entrance too. Very quiet because it is a secluded courtyard type circular driveway. Parking was located in an underground garage. Very comfortable stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Does The Job"
The hotel was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable, as was the shower. The room itself was a little on the small side. The television left a lot to be desired and the staff at the front desk was hit or miss depending on the person. The hotel was in a good location overall.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Would not stay here again"
One of the reasons we chose this hotel is because they advertised guaranteed parking available onsite for $20 per night. When we arrived they told us their parking garage was full and we needed to go across the street and down the block. There we had to pay $33 for the night in an open lot. The bathroom was not cleaned well, with hair left on the tub […] and commode. Great location. And the breakfast was good: eggs, biscuits, bacon, pancakes, plus the usual cereal and muffins. "Great location and amenities for the price!!!"
Loved this hotel. Only a few blocks from the Queen Street subway station and surrounded by the above ground light-rail/trolley lines. Great free hot continental breakfast with really good coffee to boot. The don't try to close it down early either and let stuff get unstocked as it gets close to the end time for the breakfast. Free internet and free […] local calls in our room it easy for us Americans to plan our day trips without having access to our smartphones in Canada due to outrageous abroad data plan costs. Staff are really friendly (all the staff, from the front desk clerks to the housekeepers) and they even let us check in 5 hours early since space was available in the hotel. My only complaint about our room (as I don't know if all rooms are like this) is that we didn't have a mini-fridge, which I would have preferred to keep leftovers fresh and to store any drinks purchased. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again on any return trip to Toronto. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very convenient to Rogers Centre"
While the hotel was very convenient to places we wanted to go, the room was tiny, the bed seemed smaller than a queen. But -- the location was excellent for downtown activities close to the Rogers Centre.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Holiday Inn was a great location for our stay in Toronto. We love to walk and averaged 3-4 miles per day checking out the sites around town. Staff were very nice and helpful!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very helpful, friendly staff"
Though not the best neighborhood it was very convenient to restaurants and public transportation. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very nice. The room was cleaned before we returned from breakfast and although it seems to need updating it was quite comfortable and clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice people in a nice place"
The room was quiet and clean. The only complaint I would have is they are advertized as "Pet friendly" but have no place on grounds to walk your dog. You must walk across a busy road to use a park there. The breakfast had hot and cold foods and was stocked well. The workers were friendly and professional. I would definitely return there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Value in Toronto"
We were in town to attend a Blue Jays baseball game. We parked our car at the hotel, and never used it again until we left town! Toronto is a safe and walkable city. We walked to the night game and the CN Tower among other things. The hotel seemed very new and the breakfast was great. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Holiday Inn Express Toronto - Downtown"
For me, this hotel was a good choice, but I'm not your "typical business traveler." I don't need and don't want to pay for "luxury." I want a clean, quiet room, with "black-out curtains" so that I'm not bothered by night lights or the rising sun, and a breakfast buffet with a decent choice. Lastly, I like to be about one mile away from where I will […] be all day, so that twice a day I can get some good exercise by walking from hotel to meeting room and back. Given these preferences, I rate this hotel as 4 overall. After the first night, I reported three maintenance problems (plumbing leaks, malfunctioning furniture) to the front desk; all were taken care of that day. So I rated "condition or maintenance of the hotel" as 3, but their response brought the room back up to a 4; I didn't give 5s to any of the seven items on the rating list. I also gave a 3 to the "surrounding neighborhood;" this needs to be qualified, as the hotel is near the boundary of two kinds of neighborhoods. Going toward the center of Toronto, and the conference center where I needed to be each day (south and west of the hotel), things were fine; one evening stroll east and north, however, quickly brought me into an area that I found to be uncomfortable. Thus, I was pleased with this hotel and the price I paid, and my morning and evening walks, through the financial district (e.g., Bay St) and some nice shopping areas (e.g. Fashion district ) were enjoyable, and varied. Finally, my room, with a queen-sized bed, was adequate, but cramped. I doubt that this room was designed with a queen bed in mind; when you opened the cabinet doors, in order to view the TV screen, the doors just barely cleared the foot-end of the bed. The clothes closet was small, but adequate for my suits and shirts for a 3-day stay. My wife would not have been pleased with the space, either in the bedroom or bathroom. This room, on one of the upper floors, was pleasantly quiet, even though I was right across the hall from the 3 Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
