"close to ferry terminal"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very satisfied overall. I found the reception staff very helpful and accommodating. Very handy for the Ferries and shopping in Liverpool
"Good Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Hotel in excellent location for Chester visit, enjoyed spa facilities, including pool, jacuzzi, sauna. Thought breakfast overpriced at £12 per person, therefore made separate arrangements.
"Very Convenient for Tate and museums!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Receptionist was welcoming and knowledgeable. Our dock view room with view of the Liver building was large and comfortable. Breakfast was adequate and self service. Parking could be a problem for those with heavy cases wanting to put cases in the car prior to visiting museums, as it is some distance away. Hotel enables a £1.50 reduction on the £9 parking charge. All in all...no complaints at all!
"Close to the city within the countryside"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
An excellent hotel. Friendly owners, enormous breakfasts, attentive service and in a lovely location.
"Better than a hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Very impressed with Base2Stay, they rightly deserve the high praise that they receive. Informative and helpful (to the point that one receptionist lent me her own umbrella when I realised I'd forgotten mine) staff. The foyer/social area is very pleasant and nespresso coffee on tap is a lovely touch - after dinner my colleagues and I had coffee back here rather than at the restaurant! Enjoyed having my own kitchenette - there is a supermarket less than two minutes away so very easy to stock up. Room was large and quiet, wifi worked well. All in all exactly what I'd hope for when I'm away with work.

There was no effort to understand the needs/concerns of the customer, the staff were prejudiced and very unhelpful. the room was smelling of cigarette smoke and the heaters werent working, the complimentary breakfast wasnt available with the booking. Overall a very bad experience and would not want go back again
Located in a superb spot only a two minute walk from Lime Street station, the Adelphi Hotel is beyond a doubt the grandest of all Liverpool hotels. A great favourite of Sir Harold Wilson who had his Merseyside Headquarters in room 101, hence the plaque on the door. Also a great favourite of Charles Dickens you could say the hotels grandeur stems from […] its long and distinguished history. A discreet but major refurbishment is taking place throughout with modernisation of all rooms, though obviously this cannot be done over night. Read more

"Not disappointed with its period charm"
I stayed at the Adelphi for one night in March 2012. I had been wanting to visit for a long time and was not disappointed. The public areas have been really well and faithfully refurbished and the bedroom, which was extremely spacious, had retained its period charm. I would definitely recommend a visit and a walk around all floors, with a great view […] down from the top landing. Read more
"Britannia Adelphi - Liverpool"
This hotel was very nice, great location and very comfortable. However, on arrival we noticed a bottle top behind the curtain and a showel gel lid in the bathroom, so it was obviously not cleaned to a very high standard. Also, we were unable to open our window as it was a very hot weekend; but also being a huge risk if there had been a fire, we only […] had one exit back into the hotel. Read more
"Adelphi Liverpool"
Good value hotel, in a great location - must have been a wonderful hotel in its hey day
"BRITANNIA HOTEL LIVERPOOL"
This hotel offers great value and is in a great location near liverpool lime st station. The hotel staff are extreemly friendly. The breakfast is available for a half price rate if paid for when you arrive. Only fault I would have would be the cleaner trying to get in the rooms constantly from 9am whencheck out is at 11am

"Nice room"
cheapest, at centre of the city, nice and helpful staffs.
"Britannia Adelphi Hotel City Centre"
Okay hotel, good location. Room was not really clean, bin hadnt been emptied! very old fashioned. enjoyed the stay
"Great location, but very run down"
The hotel is situated in an ideal location in Liverpool. Its very close to a lot of bars and restaurants and only a short taxi trip to Matthew Street. The hotel is very cheap to stay in, but it is desperate need of a renovation. The main foyer is nice enough, and the exterior is impressive, but the rooms are terrible. Its very dated and miserable looking. Its […] an ideal hotel for stag parties/lads weekends, etc. But I wouldn't book in for Valentine's weekend however. Read more
"The grand old Adelphi Hotel"
A very large hotel from the bygone days, a favourite with the coach holiday operators. Nevertheless it offers good service, is clean and reasonably smart and is in a great location in the centre of the city.
"You get what it says on the tin."
Overall satisfactory stay considering the budget price.I wouldn't stay in that room for more than a couple of nights though, very small and hard to move around, getting out of bed on one side involved butting the wall!wasted storage shelves and cupboards by window as most inaccessible. TV should be on a bracket on the wall and all that shelf and cupboard […] space should be ripped out to make more room.No instructions on how the three lights worked and as no ceiling light it was awkward entering in the dark, so we left light on until we worked it out. No clothes hook in bathroom and insufficient shelf space for toiletries. The bed was very comfortable, the room clean, the staff great and I would recommend it for a short stay any time. Read more
"Chitz & Cheerful"
Had a lovely stay at the Adelphi for first ever visit to Liverpool. The hotel was in the old grand style of yesterday and we had fun imagining what it must have been like in its hey day. Some of the decor had now seen better days, but it felt very comfortable and felt like going back in time, although it had all the mod cons any new boutique hotel can […] offer. Loved the size of the twin room - we could have held a party in there, it was so big, which made a lovely change from the tiny rooms you find elsewhere these days. We had a corner room so had fantastic view over the city. Gym and pool on site too. Only minus was that we couldn't control the heating and it became very hot during the night so we had to open the windows, which allowed all the street noise in. Was very noisy during the night (and on a Monday!) but we think that we were near student accommodation, so maybe that's why people were still wandering about into the early hours. All in all, we had a smashing time and would go back to the Adelphi Read more

"Adelphi Liverpool"
Good central position and conveinient for Lime Street Station which is 5 minutes walk. Lots of nightlife, eating places of all varietys, music bars, pubs and shops in walking distance. A lovely old building but some rooms do need updating overall i would reccomend.

"good location"
very close to the train station. But also close to pubs and the main road, which makes the room very noisy for sleeping. Everything else is fine.
"Liverpool Adelphi, an old classic"
A classic hotel, central and capable of excellent value. My stay was good, friendly staff and comfy room.
excellent location. priced fairly. quite a lot of external noise.
"God old hotel"
Hotel where very big and very nice, the staff very kindly and helpful. The location was in the middle of the city, 5 min walk to Liamstreet station.

"The Adelphi Hotel Liverpool review"
Arriving at the Adelphi I was served by great friendly staff who were very helpful and friendly (especially when i asked for directions), The room was very basic and very pleasant, the only negative aspect about the room was the tv is small and isnt visible when lying down in bed.
"Value for luxury!"
Great location! Close to liverpool 1 and main shops. Even closer to liverpool lime street train station! Quality of the rooms are great, makes you feel like you are staying in a stately home. Only criticism is the lack of proper showers. Amazing big bath though! Stayed in the travel lodge the night after, nowhere near as good for around the same price! […] Book it! Read more
"Good location but hotel needs decorating"
The Adelphi is located in a great position in Liverpool city centre close to everything. Unfortunately the rooms are a little dated and the hotel generally needs modernising. The rates are good though.
"adelphi in the centre of town"
old fashioned, last minute deal, fot what i paid for. perfect for get away in the city. ideal place.

The Adelphi Hotel is the perfect hotel to stay and visit Liverpool. It is so central. The staff are delightful and helpful and I would stay aain. This was my second stay
"Britannia Adelphi Hotel City Centre in Liverpool"
We stayed for one night in this hotel, whis was very convenience for us as we had a compestition over the weekend in Echo Arena. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone who stay for the same reason. During the night there was a wedding in the hotel, the music for extremely loud, we could not sleep until 1.30am, and we have to wake up by 6am for the […] competation. Phoned up reception couple of of times, they just said that is normal! They did not seemed to be care! Read more
"Edwardian splendor!"
The Adelphi is synonomous with Liverpool, and has to be seen to be believed, gently faded luxuery. Ideal position, Pub next door, also a work of art, and 5mins away The Philharmonic, breathtaking with the only grade1 Gents in England. I will certainly be back.
"Very good hotel - Right in the City centre"
This hotel was very good! Nice big rooms and in the perfect location right by liverpool lime street station. The hotel is very grand and a fun experience for a few days stay :)
"Lift Problems!"
Big problems with the lifts at this hotel! I'm not sure if it's just the volume of traffic or mechanical problems, but my daughter and I had to walk the five flights of stairs with our luggage to our room, and also walk down the five flights the following day. An inconvenience for us, but a massive problem for the elderly people I saw struggling to […] do the same. No one on hand to help. I was really worried about the couple I saw, clearly the elderly gentleman was struggling with their case. Having got my own luggage to carry I could only offer to get down stairs and see if someone could go and help him - I overheard one comment from a member of staff "there are no problems people are just impatient". However we queued for around twenty minutes, and the lifts were just going up and down between the upper floors. Whatever the reason, clearly there is a problem at checkout time in the mornings which needs addressing. And help needs to be on hand for the older guests. I believe this hotel has around 7 floors so an operational lift is a necessity. Read more
"adelphi liverpool"
well when i book online i see many good rooms but when i get there the room they had given me, i see the room was very small which i dont like it was like a box room you enter the room and the room finished there. what the use of paying lots and you got a small box. so i dont recommend this hotel
"Britannia Adelphi Liverpool - great location"
A very warm welcome when we arrived. We were early so couldn't check in but were immediately offered the facility to leave our bag. The room was light, airy and clean. Hotel only a 5 minute walk from Lime Street station, and in a good location to get around the city. Would definitely stay here again.
"Excellence of quality"
I really love this old Edwardian hotel, with the beautiful shandaliers and main lounge. The modern electronic door opening that I really had no problem with unlike other hotels. The breakfast is out this world superb especially with whole mushrooms. It is ideal for all the venues used by Beatle Week. When I am in Liverpool I don't want to return to […] horrible despicable snobby Tory town Basingstoke. Read more

"the oldest hotel in Liverpool"
I like historical buildings, it is good idea to keep old furniture in room. Thank You- I enjoyed my stay in This hotel.
"Britannia Hotel Liverpool"
Faded but fascinating hotel with an interesting history. Spacious rooms have amazing wood panelling and concealed doors. Others have attractive marble fireplaces and art deco furniture. Bathrooms need updating. Biggest drawback is the lack of lifts - and once you do manage to get into one you can then spend ages going up and down as the lifts seem to […] have minds of their own. But a fun experience in a lovely grand hotel from the past and very reasonalbe price. Read more
"Adelphi Hotel Liverpool"
What a dreary tired hotel with dreary unwelcoming staff ; will never return
"Britannia Adelphi ,Liverpool"
Very basic standards experienced. No attempt was made to assist me with my baggage or to help me find my room by the shortist route from reception. The carpet in the room was very dusty and there was a pair of socks on the floor. The bathroom wash basin had the mesh guard on the plughole missing and I almost lost my ring in it. There was a lack of notices […] giving directions from my room to reception and I found myself wandering around trying to find my way out. The teamaking facilities in the room were very welcome. This is a hotel with real character, although not as grand as in years gone by. It still has a lot of the old fixture and fittings. When I stayed some years ago it was looking really shabby (but that was part of its charm - you pass the ghosts of times gone pat on the stairs and along the many corridors, and imagine all people dancing in the grand ballroom) […] I was only booked in for one night this trip- the room was bright, clean and comfortable with a great view of the cathedral. "Good Location but not like the pictures"
I stayed in Britannia for a weekend, it was a good location, we were there for a Liverpool match so it was quite handy as there was a taxi rank outside and it is in the city center so it is good for going out in the city and shopping. The hotel itself looks good until you have a closer look, the carpets throughout were filthy, the lifts only worked […] sometimes so you could be waiting 20 mins for it. The room again was not very clean, floor was filthy, cobwebs on walls, there was paint coming off the walls in the bathroom and there was a horrific smell out of the drawers in the dresser. We also found the room very strange because there was a door to the room next door in our room (not just an adjoining room, it had the room number on it). Our room was also quite noisy as there was a disco bar at the back of the hotel. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head and you are not worried about hygiene, noise or comfort its perfect! Read more

"Britannia Adelphi hotel in Liverpool UK"
We loved the hotel and the bedroom was ok for the time they had to get it ready for us. The bedroom didn't have a window what we could open for fresh air. The room was a bit warm. We did enjoy our stay and will be staying at the Adelphi when we visit Liverpool again.

"Britannia Adelphi Liverpool"
Great location for the hotel, its in the centre of the city in close proximity to everything but it's in the dark ages with decor etc. We booked in on a hen night and requested 3 triple rooms when booking. Got to hotel, checked in and were allocated 3 double rooms. Asked if we could get the rooms we booked and we were told it was a special request they […] couldn't meet. Several persons were complaining while we were at reception. Nothing appeared to meet anyones needs. Allocations were made to family rooms i.e. sharing bathrooms, to people who didn't know each other. You have to go to reception to get an ironing board and iron and pay a deposit of £10 - they don't even bring them to your room. It was a long walk to the room with these items! It's the little simple things that matter when you stay in a hotel. Great location but won't be looking to stay there again in a hurry. Read more
"Britania Adelphi Hotel City Centre - Good location"
Cheap, confortable and good location in the City Centre of Liverpool
"Peepping Tom"
The room had no window to the outside. There was a window at the end of the room, which as we found out overlooked a staff staircase. We discovered this while sitting in our underwear,we looked up to see a male staff member with his face pressed firmly against the window, kept curtains closed after that. The beds,we could feel the wooden frame of the […] base through the already uncomfortable materess. The room was clostrophbic and airless, the tiny tv had a really bad wavey and snowey picture, and the furniture must have come out of a pyramid builders spare room. over all not good, I'v had worse but not at the price. "Britannia Adelphi Hotel City Centre"
On arrival at the hotel which is conveniently located by the railway, we were disappointed to find that we had been allocated the wrong room! We had to wait around before another room was sorted. There were lots of drunk people hanging about the foyer who were very loud and I realised that this may not have been a good choice in hotel. We were further […] disappointed to find that we were unable to use the swimming pool on the Sunday morning as it was not open. I believe they open relatively late which defeated the point of getting up early for a swim before breakfast! To add to this I would mention the decor of the hotel could do with some updating. The bedroom furniture is very dated and basic. On the plus side I was say the location was ideal and very central! Read more
