Great hotel very near to the Termini station. Its approx a 10-min walk from the station. The staff was courteous and very helpful explaining the tourist spots. The room was amazing: approx 15-20 ft ceiling and all the walls covered in cloth with huge drapes. Very nice and romantic although the total size of the room was a little small. The Hotel and room were great. Breakfast & internet is included which is always great. The room was fairly large and the bed was a king so my husband and I were pretty happy with the space. The only issue with the room was that they put us near this back alleyway where all the exhaust pipes and large renovations were occuring in the building next to […] the hotel...People aparments were very close by and you can hear them talking constantly as it is like a tunnel where everything echos. We were there in November this yr and Rome is generallly still warm a around 60's to 70's so we needed to open the windows so the room would not be too hot for sleeping. As soon as we open the window the smell was awful. All the heating and sewage and whatever else exhaust and such were just permeating directly in to our room. Made for a bit of an uncomfortable sleep also when the neighbors in the aparments or the men renovating came in and all the noises echoed through to our room. An Ok hotel with nothing special, but definitely NOT a four star, and not worth the rate. The overall appearance was outdated and not impressive. My room was small but I could live with it since I was by myself and it was in Europe. Also again, the King bed was the combo of two twins, so I had to use only one half of the area to avoid getting stuck […] in the middle. Wifi is very slow. It does not come with a full service business center with even a printer. I had a lot of trouble trying to get my reservation voucher for the vatican musei onto a piece of paper. Eventually I had to email my voucher to the guy at the front desk, who was so nice to print it out for me and delivered it to my room! The hotel is not particularly close to anything, not even a metro station. It was again Ok because Rome is not that huge, but still, I spent a lot time walking on the not so interesting streets everyday. In general, this was not a very impressive hotel, but all staff I met were very friendly and helpful. It is not conveniently situated, but on the other hand, is somewhat quite. So it is probably not the best choice for someone that has a tight schedule or big ambition. However, it might be ideal for those who want to escape from the huge crowd and enjoy a bit more peacefulness. I'll probably return if I can get a good rate since I have already been to most hot spots, which I believe constitutes no more than 20% of what the eternal city has to offer. Read more

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. First of all it´s overpriced for that what they offer. The rooms are really very tiny, there are no existing services and empty minibar. This was a great little hotel near most embassies in an upscale neighborhood of Rome. We found the hotel staff to be extremely patient and helpful with us on our first trip to Italy. The neighboring restaurants also offered helpful, friendly staff and great food choices that aren't right in the middle of all the tourist attractions, so we found the […] quality of the food to be a better than closer in to the center of the city. We had an adjoining room with our 10- and 12-year old and, although their room was tight and small, the bathroom was quite spacious. The rooms definitely accommodated our needs for sleep and showers, and we were fairly pleased with the breakfasts that were included with our rooms. The only negative for us, really, was that the elevator is older and so it's slow and there is no stair access as an alternative. We'd recommend it and likely stay again! Read more

This hotel is a bit northwest of center, and priced at about half of the hotels in center for the same quality from what i could tell. Always staffed at the desk, Vittoria was particularly helpful, and the breakfast was great for an included buffet. Clean, efficient and nice Roman ambiance. Only nits to pick are wifi always worked in reception but […] was off and on in the room. When the room was cleaned in the day they moved all my stuff around - everything, which was a bit unusual, but at least the room was clean and orderly. I dont mind walking so the location was fine, and for the price, excellent. Not far from the train and i think there are buses for the km or 2 to center (all of which is included if you do the Roma pass) but didnt figure the bus route out as i'm a walker (hiker in fact). Did not give requested wake-up call 4. Elevator did not work in the morning when we were trying to get 6 pieces of luggage down from 4th level to lobby 5. The location was convenient to the tour bus service which we were very pleased to learn about from the helpful front desk. The "hop on hop off" tour bus is the way to sight see on your own schedule. This room was substantially bigger than the room in the main hotel. The king size bed was very comfortable. We liked that the window opened - from the top. The bathtub was great and we appreciated the towel warmer. The decor is very modern. Kettle (boiler) in room with tea and coffee. Refrigerator was stocked with water. Breakfast was GREAT. The scrambled […] eggs were the best that we have ever had in a hotel (more yolks). This particular room was quite different and actually made our stay better (loved the big wooden door and the elevator and the ancient staircase (stone). We stayed 3 nights. The only caveat is that Wifi is available only in the hotel lobby. The internet access is in the same area as breakfast. The keyboard on the computer was "interesting" must use shift / 2 to get @ sign. Bizarre ! You can get internet access for a daily rate in your room if you have your laptop ... we were travelling with a smart phone. They upcharge to call for a taxi so we just grabbed one off the street and saved 10 euros. They only change the sheets on the bed every 3 days (is this the new normal?). In the morning of our second day, we noticed that the sheet had some blood marks at the bottom (feet area). Mentioned this to the desk manager and were somewhat surprised that housekeeping did not change sheets. Next hotel I will pull the sheets all the way back and check. Read more

The Gambrinus was a perfectly pleasant stay. I would definitely recommend the hotel. And overall the stay was really nice. The rooms were clean and attractive. The bathroom was average size but the shower was extremely small with no bathtub. This didn't bother us, but if you are looking forward to a hot bath, won't happen. And they didn't provide wash […] cloths. We bought body sponges at the farmacia. They offered free in your room wireless service for your laptop, which was spotty at best. But again, this didn't bother us. We were on vacation and have international smart phones that had great service for the duration. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The free breakfast was sufficient and tasty, but exactly the same everyday. The lobby was non-existent. It consisted of a front desk and three guest chairs. Mostly not a problem for us, but it would have been nice to congregate with our family (14 other travelers) in the lobby after tours or before dinner in a more spacious and comfortable environment. But again, the stay was very pleasant and overall met every need. Read more

My only negative comment about the Gambrinus is it's WiFi service. I specifically planned my vacation with hotels that offered free WiFi. Upon arrival I discovered that the WiFi was free, for the first 15 minutes. After that it was 10 Euros a day.
