A very good experience. "Standard" Hotel room was smaller than some (about 300 sf) but not uncomfortable. One of the few hotels in reno that did not charge us a "resort fee". Also they did not charge us for either a crib or a rollaway bed. I don't know if this was standard or unique to our reservation. Condition of room and furnishings was excellent. Items were not quite contemporary but not dated either; generally very nice. In general the staff was very friendly and seemed pleased to have our business - a much nicer experience than I had at another Harrahs property (Rio in Las Vegas). We did not use any of the hotel's other services. Gambled and ate at other hotels. Cal-Neva is across the street - a bit of a dive (in a fun way) and the only downtown hotel with $3 blackjack with the good rules (double down on any 2 cards, 3:2 blackjack, etc). and much cheaper restaurants than Harrahs.

Friendly staff and pleasant room accomodations. Room was cleaned daily and supplies replenished. Was disappointed with the gaming machines. Many seemed to need repair. However, the staff was very good at taking care of these problems. Would have liked to have more choices for restaurants. The coffee shop and an expensive Italian restaurant were the only ones open all 4 days we were there. I was not sure when th buffet was open.

A nice, clean, quiet hotel room. Valet parking is free but we found self parking (also free) to be much quicker. The elevator from the parking garage delivers you to the lobby, making self parking very efficient. (we were in the east tower of Harrah's) I'm not a gambler, so I can't comment on the casino, other than it appeared clean and safe.

Reviewed by Nathan of Seattle on Sep 10, 2009
The room was ok for the price. However, unless you are one of their "diamond" preferred guests, they have no obligation to give you the room type you paid for. I signed up for a king non-smoking. When I showed up, they said they didn't have any more king non-smoking rooms. So they offered me a king smoking or a double bed non-smoking. I don't like the smell of smoke so I chose the non-smoking room with 2 double beds. Unfortunately the double beds are a bit too short so my feet felt like I was over the edge. I'm only 5'9" so it's not like I'm a tall guy. When I asked the manager the next morning for some consideration, anything at all, she was very adamant that the type of room is whatever they have available. They only thing they gurantee for paying your money is that you a room. Luckily my girlfriend wasn't with me, as she was originally supposed to be. She would have been pretty mad at not getting the right room type. I was put off by the cold management who didn't care at all about my stay or comfort. She did say if I was a preferred guest she would care. I definitely wasn't motivated to become a preferred guest of that hotel after that cold treatment. I would have accepted some token, anything as a sign that the hotel cared. So basically they overbooke non-smoking king rooms and switch you to something else when you arrive.

A quite nice hotel. Good, clean, well-appointed rooms. No fridge, microwave, and no free internet!, make it a poor choice if you're not there to gamble and eat buffets. I liked the room, but didn't like paying $11 to go online. Good + nice, clean room + good amenities + pretty well designed, except the exterior Bad - downtown is not a place you want to hang out, and almost no restaurants outside of casinos - no extras, like fridge, micro, internet, breakfast
