Ideal Hotel Design - Paris

This hotel is literally right outside a metro stop. Add that to the incredibly cheap rate, and you have great value for visiting Paris. I was on the top floor, the 5th, with a north facing few of some other buildings. It was quiet enough especially considering the rather busy road in front. I didn't try breakfast since it was extra and there are so […] many bakeries nearby. The front desk attendants spoke enough english and were quite helpful. Also, there is wi-fi in the lobby which was nice when we were wanted to book it one night via hotels.com for a lower rate instead of through the front desk. My room, a single, was quite small, but how much do you need? It was still a double bed and clean with a cute little bathroom and enough electrical outlets to charge all my goodies. The luggage storage was free and the front desk were happy to let me keep mine there all day after I checked out. Read more

Room was pretty clean & the staff was friendly. Best part of the hotel is the location because the metro is right outside of the doorstep! The elevator is tiny, just FYI. For the price that we were able to get, the value was perfect.

Nice hotel right across from Porte d'Orleans metro stop! I was only there one night and didn't hang out in or around the hotel. The rooms are a nice size compared to most rooms in Paris. The front desk staff was nice and there is a luggage room if you arrive early. Not close to city center so expect a metro ride!

The only good thing was that the metro stop is right outside the front door. Okay, and the staff was very polite. The bad...there is absolutely no sound-proofing whatsoever (we could hear entire conversations from the rooms across the hall, never mind right next door). Let me start with the best and end with the worst part about the hotel and our experience. 1. The area is great if you want a local feel. It has tons of cafes nearby and lots of bakeries, places to buy cosmetics and even clothes shopping, the street scene is fun. It's directly across from the metro. 2. I appreciate their efforts. 3. No wash cloths. Soap was not replenished every day. I actually thought the dispenser in the shower was soap and used it like that until somebody told me it was shampoo. 4. Hair dryer was very hot. It took me 15 minutes to dry my hair #even though I have short hair) and I had to do it in 2 "stages" because hair dryer was too hot to hold. 5. Bathroom---when you get up off the toilet you are prone to hitting your jaw on the sink. Not fun. 6. Bathroom and especially shower stall was very slippery and dangerous. 7. No way to adjust the temperature in the room. At night I was so hot I had to open the patio window to get some cooler air, thus subjecting us to street noise and street lights. We didn't sleep well. 7. The worst thing was that we paid for a triple room, but got a double room. One of our party couldn't go at the end, and the hotel fee was non-refundable. But because we didn't have all 3 there with us, they put us in a double room. We didn't get what we paid for. Read more

Even though this hotel is pretty far south, it is in a nice Paris neighborhood just before you get to the Peripherie. The Metro stop is literally right at the door which is nice. For the price, this is a great place to stay and I would definitely stay here again.

The Ideal Hotel was just that - Ideal! Situated next to both the Porte d'Orléans Line 4 metro stop and tram stop (of the same name) meant that we were steps away from transportation that could quickly and easily take us to the center of town (and also near RER B - straight to/from the airport!) The hotel is also only one tram stop from the lovely Parc […] Montsouris (one of the best parks in Paris, in my opinion!) The room was lovely and spacious and the staff were extremely accommodating and all spoke English very well. The elevator was tiny but that only added to the charm of the place! We chose not to partake in the breakfast, but it sounded delicious. We opted for coffee and pastries that we purchased literally right outside the hotel (a choice of 3 cafés!) The female receptionist was un friendly and came across as being rude and un pleasant. As being the first person that visitors interact with at the hotel, she should have been more friendly and helpful. When asked for a map and the hotels location, she didn't appear to know where the actual hotel was located.

We stayed at this hotel for a week in April. The good thing about the hotel was the location (the subway entrance is literally right outside the door). Unfortunately, there were numerous problems we encountered during our stay. First, our room (107) was *so* dark! I mean, two tiny lights above the bed, and a desk lamp in the corner. With a tiny window […] and very little sunlight, you could barely see anything in the room. They really should add another floor lamp to the room. It's hard to comment on the cleanliness of the room, because we honestly couldn't see anything! I commented to the front desk but all they could say was "isn't the room beautiful?". Second, our room should be avoided if you want to have a peaceful night's sleep. The problem is that on one side of the room is the stairwell going down and the other side is the breakfast room. So each morning around 6:00am you start hearing hotel workers (and other guests) walking around and people getting the breakfast ready. It's extremely loud and will definitely wake you up. Also, even though we had a non-smoking room, it seems like smoke smell seeps into the room somehow. We ended up stuffing a towel at the bottom of our door to help reduce the smell. The hotel staff mostly seemed nice, although the guy who helped check us in was rather rude. The others seemed pretty friendly. If I were traveling to Paris, I'm not sure that I would stay here again. Read more

We got to Paris before check in time and, as someone mentioned, the luggage storage room is unlocked and seems to be unmonitored. It was not much of a hotel, more of a hostel with private bathrooms in the rooms. We (fiance and I) had a mini bar with mold and were compensated with breakfast. Lobby, location close to transportation, Bedding was clean, fridge was most appreciated for storing lots of good French cheeses. The patisserie next door is charming, there is also an ATM right outside. The attendants at the Metro are very helpful in getting you the ticket you need and where you want to go in the city. The hotel is at the last stop of the Port D' Orleans metro line. Pretty easy to find once you get out of the metro station - the hotel has a big sign near the top of the building. They were VERY FIRM about the check in time - 230PM. Don't expect to go to your room before then. The hotel's elevator is a retrofit - meaning it is VERY TINY - 2 luggage […] and a person is about all that would fit. We were on the 6th floor. Since the elevator was held up, we ended up climbing up with our stuff. It was pretty bad coming down too. Just be aware of that. The room itself was nice - large by French standards. Actually had room to put our luggages on the floor. There were about 4 different grocery stores near by as well as several restaurants and couple of bakeries. However it would be better if they could do more effert on room cleaning and hotel manegement. I don't this is a really good hotel that would suit everybody's expectation. This hotel has no air conditioning and paper-thin walls. Additionally, it had the dirtiest floors I have EVER seen in a hotel. I wore flip-flops or socks when walking in my room, I would never dare to go bare-footed. We chose this Hotel because it was relatively inexpensive. While it was convenient to the Metro it is relatively far from most of the city attractions.
