Liked the location and room was clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful
"Great Location for Great Price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
I had a wonderful time in Paris. The rooms are efficient, modern and very clean. Very easy to get to Metro stations since its located between two stops. Highly recommend this hotel for the travelers who are looking for a decent hotel in a budget. I would definitely stay there again.

really nice hotel, but a bit far from the center
"Horrible Hotel - Great Location"
The location of this hotel to transportation was great. I was able to get all around Paris easily from here as all forms of Paris' public transportation was accesible - as in directly outside the fron door from this hotel. That being said, the hotel itself was majorly lacking. It is NOT a 3 star hotel. I would barely give it 2. The carpets are old, […] worn and dirty tthrought the hotel. The linens did not smell fresh - not saying they were dirty, they just did not smell freshly cleaned. The fact that there was free wi-fi was the only other plus I can say about the hotel. I will also admit the staff was relatively friendly. I was upset however, that they do not offer early check-in. They literally made us wait 5 hours to check-in. I've never experienced that before. Also te baggage area whee they let us put our luggage while we waited was unsecured and on a completely different floor from the reception staff. the price is great - but beware you definetly get what you pay for. "Wonderful Access to the City"
Really enjoyed my stay; however, I think the hotel needs to tell its customers that if you use the phone you will get charged, even when you have a calling card. Other than that small detail, I LOVED IT!!!!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Not ideal at all!!!!"
It's a very bad location, takes 45 min to get to the center. Room smelled bad, they didnt clean our room during our 3 day staying, elevator is very very small, design of the hotel made me think that it used to be a wh*re house. Positive side is that the stuff was very nice and helpful and it's 1 step from the metro, free wifi. But still I would not stay […] here again and wouldn't recommend to my friends! "Convienent, but lacking"
I had high hopes about this hotel when I booked it, but I feel like it didn't live up to my expectations. The carpets were damaged, and the door to the bathroom wouldn't shut all of the way, and the door was missing paint at the bottom. The cleaning person forgot to replace the towels in one of the rooms that I had booked, and there is no air conditioning […] in the rooms. Also the shower is small and uses a shower curtain instead of a solid door. In a small shower this has the effect of causing the shower curtain to stick to you while taking a shower. It is not all bad the rates were reasonable and the location is wonderful. As stated in another review the Orleans metro stop is right outside the door, and there are plenty of resturaunts and markets in the neighborhood. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The worst hotel visited so far..."
This was an unpleasant and definitively not ideal experience that we had during our stay in this hotel in Paris. Apart from good location which is next door from the metro entrance, everything there was terrible. The room was in general dirty, the carpet was unclean, the furniture old, TV did not have a single channel in English, so we could not even […] watch it. I could hear every single word that the people next door were saying, so it was very uncomfortable to overhear someone's conversation. The maid did not vacuum our room. Unfortunately I paid the whole amount via Expedia, so we could not cancel and we had to stay the whole 7 nights there. We tried to come to the hotel as late as possible every day, and used it only to get some sleep. Luckily Paris was wonderful, and the whole vacation there was great. We tried to not be bothered by the hotel not to spoil our vacation. The hotel is not recommended at all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Nice hotel worked fine for our trip. Very close to metro stop, nice neighborhood with places to eat and grocery store close by. Carpet worn in room but otherwise very clean. Elevator very small and since we were on the top floor it was hard to get bags up and down, but otherwise stay was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ideal"
My fiance and I stayed at Ideal Hotel Design for seven days in March. During our time in Paris, we enjoyed the pleasant hospitality, convenient location, and comfort we would expect of a reasonably priced three star hotel. The Metro entrance is within feet of the hotel. It was easy and cheap to travel anywhere within the city, as well as to both airports. […] The neighborhood is on the southern outskirt of central Paris and filled with great shops, stores, restaurants and parks. There was a wonderful bakery next door to the hotel, as well as a bank, and several dining options were on the block. We also took advantage of the fresh food markets as well as the groceries stores within two minutes walk to keep light snacks and beverages on hand. The room and bathroom were clean, and the queen sized bed was comfortable. When we arrived, we were directed to a luggage storage room and restroom where we dropped off our baggage and freshened up before going out. Our room was ready before check in and the staff continued impressing us during our stay. For the money, this hotel exceeded our expectations. It was a great economical option that provided for an amazing vacation. We would enjoy returning without hesitation. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good budget hotel"
Affordable Paris hotel with very friendly staff in a safe neighborhood. The metro is right in front of the hotel and close to great shops, restaurants, and even a deluxe grocery store for those who can't afford dining every night like myself. It's about a 25minute train ride or 10 euro cab ride to the city center where many Monuments Are.. There is […] hussel and bussel outside and the wireless Internet worked only 2/3 the time on my iPhone but overall the hotel met my expectations and I had a great stay Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"good stay!"
it's not the fanciest of hotels, but a very good value. Rooms and bathrooms are small but clean. Includes TV and wireless. Right by a metro stop so it's very convenient if you're traveling by metro. The staff were very helpful and friendlyGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ok if you don't mind a little dirt."
Hotel was ok. Not the cleanest, but not the worst. Lobby was misleadingly nice. VERY thin walls. Decent value for the price. Took a good 30-45 minutes to get to most of the sites in Paris on the train. Once you get off the train, the hotel literally is right in front of the stop.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great if you're familiar with Paris"
I've stayed at this hotel several times before my last experience. I love the funky motif, and the staff is very friendly. The rooms tend to be quirky; some have a better view than others. The beds are very comfy, and the breakfast is pretty decent. The only strong negative aspect is the location. It's at the end of line 4, which tends to be one of […] the busiest lines in Paris. Be aware that commuting could take anywhere from twenty to forty minutes to get to the center of town. If it is your first time to Paris, I would stay away from this hotel. There are others that are better located to explore the town. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wonderful Parisian Escape"
From the moment we checked in to the time we checked out we were treated like royalty. The staff were extremely accomodating and friendly. Our room was clean, safe, comfortable and artistically designed. It was so convenient to have the Metro entrance directly in front of the front door.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent location, clean hotel"
With the Metro station right in front of the hotel, it was very convienient to get to all tourest locations in a minimal amount of time. Hotel staff was very helpful. And when neighboring guests were noisy, staff immediately took care of the issue. Will definately go back to this hotel for any future trips. Like all older european buildings the size […] of the rooms are not huge, but they are comfortable. The elevator is for just 2 people without bags, but have seen that in older buildings well, throughtout europe. During the cold days of winter, the room was definately well heated. "Very nice hotel"
A very nice hotel a bit out of the way, adjacent to the Porte d'Orleans metro station. The 25 minute metro ride to the 1st arrondissement might be long for those who are not familiar with Paris, however for persons with some familiarity with the city this may not be a problem. The main aim of my trip was work. And, in particular, to work with a colleague which was staying at the Cite' Universitaire in Paris, that's very close to the hotel. "Kitsch"
When I saw the pictures they looked so ridiculous I thought I had to stay here. I was expecting tacky and I wasn't disappointed. However, the price was right. It is right next to the metro. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. It is a motel with a hodgepodge paint job but the people are nice and it is functional. There was a screaming drunken […] fight in the room down the hall between lovers at 3:30am which was a bit scary but the staff took care of it. I wouldn't stay here if it is your first trip to Paris or if you want a real romatic hotel experience but if you are the kind of person who is out all day anyway or it is a short trip - it was fine. "Perfect Location, Excellent service!"
The hotel staff was extremely friendly, fun and funny. They were very helpful with any needs from helping plan activities for the entire trip to supplying wine openers for a special night. The hotel itself is in the absolute perfect location. You don't have to deal with the overwhelming hustle and bustle of being in the center touristy part of Paris. […] You get more of a neighborhood experience (local cafes, markets and boulangeries are abundant and help save money instead of eating out, etc.). The metro system line 4 (which in my opinion was THE MOST convenient line in the entire city) is literally two steps from the hotel entrance. The tram (which takes you to most other metro lines and local neighborhoods) is right across the street. The continental breakfast got a little repetitive but is fine for shorter stays (i.e.: a long weekend). Would have liked to have some fresh fruit, but oh well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect Location"
The Ideal Hotel is in a perfect location, with the Port d'Orleans Metro stop literally steps outside of the front door. Breakfast with the room was definitely a value when one considers how much could be spent in the city for that meal. The room was comfortable, no air conditioning though, but ours opened up on a courtyard so the open window usually […] didn't bother us. "check it out"
When you read that this hotel is right next to the train, nobody is lying. It is very convenient; it is at the end of the line, but its only 4 or 5 stops from notre dame and the eiffel tower. The double bed was comfy, the room was clean. The single bed was on top of a hospital like holder, but my buddy said it was very comfy. "Hot night in Paris"
I needed a place to crash between a flight into Orly that night and out of CDG the next morning, so I chose this hotel based on price, Wi-Fi availability, and proximity to a convenient Metro stop, . It seemed a good value and was certainly very close to the Metro, but I didn't expect the lack of A/C to be such a problem (my other hotels had not had […] A/C). It was very warm in Paris that week. The room had only one window, so cross ventilation was not possible. The staff did not provide a fan, and I was too tired and hot to drag myself down the eight floors again to ask if one were available. That was a mistake, as I didn't sleep at all that night. It didn't help that my window opened onto a bus facility, so very early the next morning, one bus after another started up and headed out. Other than that, the room was fine. It was very clean except for some unexplained crud on the walls of the bathroom - mud, I would assume. Oh, and the Wi-Fi was virtually unusable. I had to disconnect and reconnect about six or more times to get all my 20 or so emails, as it would lock up after every two or three messages. I never was able to browse to any web sites. I had no problem accessing Wi-Fi at other hotels on this trip. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Just a hotel without the "Ideal" & "Design""
The hotel location is very convenient, just few steps away from underground metro station. There is a takeaway Chinese place where you can take delicious Chinese food. The hotel staff was helpful. However, The place itself is not as good as its name” Ideal Hotel Design”. It is hotel alright but without the word ideal and design. Overall it is Ok.Genuine Expedia guest review
"What a design!"
The front of the hotel really stands out (a pink front surrounded by buildings of brown). The staff is really polite and held my baggage for me so that I could venture out while I waited for check in time. The even held my baggage for me after I checked out and went site seeing till my train left. The breakfast was included and delicisious, it had more […] opptions than my friend had in his hotel down the street. The hotel is located in Porte Orleans, which is a pretty busy street but surrounded by tons of shopping and resturants. There is even an entry to the metro right outside the door. The hotel was very comfy and in a very convenient area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel with character right by the Metro"
This is an attractive hotel located feet from the Porte d'Orleans Metro station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was small but comfortable. It was a triple, which was very convenient for my teen daughters and me, and came with a very good breakfast. We were on the fifth floor, and the elevator is tiny and slow, so when we had our luggage […] we had to take turns on it, and it could be a hassle for someone who couldn't easily take the stairs. Overall, though, I thought this was a good find. The Metro makes getting around Paris easy; we got Paris Visite passes which covered Metro travel for three days and also came with discounts to various sites and stores. the hotel entrance and photos from the web are nice but one i walked in it's a totally different story the hotel isn't well designed, the life is so tiny that u can only fit 2 person and 1 luggage at a time (fair enough) but the room is the problem there's no air conditioning and all furniture you can tell are from ikea (which i consider as a bad thing […] in a hotel) the air conditioning was so bad that i had to open the windows at night but as it was raining i couldn't wide open it and the room is so lack of air that me and my family couldn't get a good sleep the whole night even tho the beds are actually quite nice. the bathroom was terrible again no air conditioning i was dripping hot when i was using the bathroom and the shower AND shower curtains are so small that it just doesn't make scene the good side is it's quite a clean hotel and breakfast was quite nice i've traveled round Paris over at least 10 times and to be honest this is actually the worst hotel i've ever visited. also with this price you can get a maybe not much better but at least another hotel with air conditioning as you know summer isn't really the most present thing in Paris. the name and the entrance (JUST THE ENTRANCE) kind of fooled me i have to say, overall this not quite ideal hotel is disappointing and became the low point of my trip. i wouldn't suggest this hotel to any one not even single travelers. One- tiny elevator Two- staff are civil but couldn't really care less about their guests. The only nice staff is the woman. Three- the cleaning staff stacks the "clean" towels on the hallway FLOOR by the room she's cleaning. They do not change the sheets. I've seen hostels cleaner and prettier than this one. "Clean, modern and in a pleasant neighbourhood"
My partner and I spent the weekend at Hotel Ideal recently and had a good experience overall. It was right near the metro station and on the same line as Chatelet, St Germain and other useful stops for tourist destinations. The local area is what I would describe as a very nice, slightly upmarket inner city suburb - and not too touristy. The hotel room […] was clean, beds were comfortable, wifi worked well and the breakfast was fine too. I'd recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Paris on a short holiday. "noisy and smoking"
The walls were not sound isolated and we could hear everything from behind the wall and the ceiling. The elevator was so small that barely could fit two people squeezed. The room service was OK, the personnel were OK too (nothing special). The location of the hotel is good. it is close to public transportation and grocery shopping. everything in the […] walking distance. Although it was suppose to be non-smoking room, the room smelled like smoke and it was much worst when somebody in the room beside us was smoking. The noise from the street was always on,specially the ambulance's and police's alarms. In general, regarding the price you pay in an expensive city, the price was OK.
