Upon check in, they gave me a room that is not exactly what I booked for. I reserved for 2 queen size bed, but they gave me 1 king size without verifying with us. We had to go back to front desk, which is a waste of out time. To make things worse, there's no more rooms with 2 beds, and my friend had to sleep in a small couch. Parking is expensive and not easily accessible.

Choose this hotel on the basis that it was close to the city centre & it was a five star rated hotel. In truth it is quiet close - although best to use the lifts that carry you to the basement level rather than walk down hill towards the centre. Staff were pleasant. Only thing for me - the room was alittle dated in decor - I was expecting a more impressive room based on the rating. The gym was small but useful. We did not dine in the hotel - however they recommended a fabulous restaurant near by. All in all it was fine -but definately not 5 star.

We were very impressed with the size and layout of the room. The lobby and public spaces were well maintained and the staff very helpful. The best part was the location - just an elevator ride to the main avenue and next to the beautiful gardens!

When I booked the Wellington James Cook, I really did not know what to expext. The experience turned out to be fantastic. The location could not be more central with easy access to everything. More importantly the staff where just super and met you with a smile and a chirpy friendly greeting. The hotel facilities are top class and the rooms are very comfortable. I was that impressed that I booked the sister hotel in Christchurch on the basis of my Wellington experience. Eoghan from Ireland

We enjoyed the luxury of this hotel. The location was great for shopping and banking just outside the street doors. The elevators were a bit confusing to us and other guests, but once we figured out which ones to get on, it wasn't a problem. We enjoyed the wonderful evening buffets. Thanks, Hotel.com for this opportunity.

Great location--right in the CBC and directly off the motorway-- lovely accommodations. Unfortunately, we arrived on Boxing Day. Many, but not all stores were open, but almost all restaurants were closed. Except for that, it was a delightful stay.

We stayed at the James Cook Hotel in Wellington, NZ on two occasions. Both stays were great. The hotel and staff were outstandings. I can't imagine anyone being unhappy about anything.
