"A great place to stay while doing Hartford"
The entire staff, from the front desk to the housemaids to the shuttle driver, was helpful, friendly, and kind. Breakfast was great. The best seafood restaurant ever is within walking distance. The free shuttle made maneuvering Hartford easy. My daughter had med school interviews and I had a trade show- we would definitely stay here again, and intend […] to next year. "do not stay here"
Booked this room for a children's concert in Hartford. Upon check in, we were warned about very roudy guests for a punk rock concert that were staying at this hotel. We could not use the pool on Sat. as there were so many loud folks. Swearing, drinking, making messes...not a place for children. Sun. we could not use the pool as the engineer could not […] get the pool chems correct, had to add more chemicals," but the kids can go in after 11". Had to add more chems, I should then put my children in the water? Dirty bathroom with hair on floor and mold under soap dish. We could not wait to leave! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean and spacious room but terrible bed!"
Hotel was in good condition. Our room was large and clean but the bed was AWFUL. It was old and squeaky, and the mattress was sagging in the middle. The next morning, both my partner and I, had back pain.Genuine Expedia guest review

I went here on business and everything was clean. The breakfast was ok, the coffee was nothing special but it's all free so I can't complain. They have a whirlpool and it's really relaxing. They also have really nice HD TV's which surprised me. Lots of channels too? If ur going to hartford this is the place to stay. There is also a great seafood restaurant […] next door that you can walk to, voted best seafood restaurant in Connecticut. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Ihave stayed @ this location a few times. Well last Thursday night my company truck was broken into. Radio was stolen among other work related items. i was parked 1 row back in front of the main entrance well within sight of the front desk. the security cameras don't "reach" that far back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel should not exist. It is located next to a SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT. The smell is everywhere: outside, in the halls, in your room.... Besides the fact the hotel should not exist, there was ongoing renovations being done but no one working on them. Also the breakfast was awful, and the power went out when too many appliances were used and everyone […] in the room sat in the dark while they finished their awful breakfast. But I will repeat my self, the main reason you don't want to stay here is that it is right next to a sewage treatment plant. Why did they build it there???? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will be a nice hotel after renovations are over"
This hotel is not Holiday Inn any more. They are going through some renovations now on the ground floor and will soon become Best Western Hotel. My stay was fine, but if you have dust allergy - it's not the best place to be, at least in June 2014Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We wish that all the hotels we have stayed had been like yours. We shall be looking out for Holiday Inn Express hotels when we come back in 2016 for the Kentucky Derby is on.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Rooms, facilities OK. Nice and quiet rooms"
Did a 2 night stay to be near Hartford for some business. Hotel is right next to airport and busy Interstate - but the room was very quiet -- no extra plane or road noise -- a big plus you don't always get. They were doing some renovations (from other comments, seems like they have been doing them for quite awhile!) .. 1st room I was given had some dry-wall dust on carpet and pile of screws in the middle of the carpet/room. I went back to front desk and simply said "Its not horrible but...." They were very friendly at the 1st desk. Gave me a new room (upgraded). Room was OK - which is fine, the prices is about right. The whirlpool was nice - but the room for it was sort of un-kept. The upgraded room I think is called a Jr suite ... emphasis on Jr. I'm glad I didn't pay extra for it. But all-in-all .. met my needs -- and loved the quiet.
"Quiet Retreat During Snow Storm"

I booked this hotel for several days during a snowstorm in Jan 2015. The rooms are very comfortable and recently refurbished. Great cable channels MSNBC,BBC/America,CSPAN3, HBO and CPTV. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The hotel housekeeping staff were wonderful and respectful when I needed some peace and quiet. The breakfast in the morning was good. Each day the menu changed. More variety of fresh fruit would make the selections even better. Coffee and tea during the day a bonus. Please add more green and herbal teas for selection. Many travelers are more health conscious today. Spa tub was a bonus because of my health condition. Overall, a great experience, in the newly re-named Best Western Hartford Hotel & Suites. Bonus: The Chowder Pot Seafood Restaurant is next door to the hotel. Diva 23
"Comfortable Room - Good Price"
11/07/14 VeggieP Staten Island, New York
We took a chance and booked this hotel through Priceline. It was close to the Mark Twain House which we had planned to visit the following day. We found it easily, but when we first arrived we were very skeptical about our choice. There was no one at the front desk and, in fact, no one else in sight. After a few minutes of confusion, we saw a sign next to a phone instructing guests to call some one to the desk. Someone arrived quickly and once we were checked in, our skepticism vanished. There were a number of local menus near the desk which we were able to take to the room. This was very helpful since it was late and we were hungry. We actually found a very good place that delivered - NY NY Pizza - which I reviewed on Trip Advisor. There was also a restaurant right across the parking lot, but it was closing when we arrived. The room was great - probably one of the best we've stayed in. It was reasonably priced as well. There was a large, comfortable and clean bed. There was also a small couch with a large coffee table in front of it. We were able to order food from NY NY Pizza and eat it in the room. The bathroom was well stocked and very clean. There was also excellent lighting which is very rare in hotels. The amount of lamps available was better than in any hotel we ever stayed. They served a decent complimentary breakfast which we took advantage of. The hotel was under construction, but that didn't interfere with our comfort in any way. The area is not scenic at all since it is near the airport, the highway and a commercial area. Since we were only staying for one night, that didn't bother us at all. I would definitely recommend it for a short stay.

This was a great find. The hotel was undergoing a renovation but I was assured that I would have an updated room and I would be pleased. Was I ever. I normally stay a Marriott properties and this was just as clean and comfortable. The price as unbelievable considering how nice the property was. Eddie and Kevin were the most welcoming hosts that I have ever stayed with. What ever you needed they provided. I will stay there on my next trip.
"Nice place to stay"
11/02/14 Vicki C New York, United States
This hotel is still under renovation but looks to be complete soon. The rooms are updated very nice. The colors are very soothing and the beds are comfortable. Nice furniture and TV. I would have liked a place to put the soap (some sort of soap dish) rather than just on top of the counter but other than that the bathroom was very clean also. Hallways and common areas are also very clean and nice. Loved Free WiFi. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this property. Breakfast was good with many choices. Once all the renovations are complete this will be a very lovely hotel.
"Construction but OK"

There was a lot going on but our suite was still nice, they have a lot of workers. Our suite had everything and was very clean. The staff was nice and the breakfast was very good. I am sure that when they finish it will be a much nicer place to stay.
"Under Renovations!! Still OK"
10/12/14 Melonie S Cranford, NJ
Based upon previous reviews under another hotel name, they have been under renovation for a long period of time and from what I notice, will continue to be. I was in town for the Hartford Marathon and stayed at this hotel because they offered transportation to and from the run and offered a late checkout for all the runners. The check-in process was slow due to a problem with a couple in front of me but when it was my turn, it went very quickly. The front desk receptionist told me they were running the shuttle to the run starting at 6:00 am and there was only one shuttle that seated 12 people and they would make as many back and forth trips that they could. I didn't feel good about that so I decided to drive in on my own and I'm glad I did. I left at 7:00 am and barely made the 3 mile trip on time. Due to traffic, there was no way that shuttle was making more then one trip in. The front desk staff was friendly and my room was newly updated. There was a constant smell of cigarette smoke on the first floor probably due to the construction workers smoking. There seemed to be a cigarette smell in my room on occasion as well probably from the vents. Everything functioned well in my room and it was clean. I loved that the room had coffee, a fridge, and a microwave. Did I mention a huge TV? When I opened the shades in my room, I noticed the new windows that were installed already had the screens ripped and they were poorly installed. They barely locked because of that. Plenty of parking. I didn't get a chance to sample the breakfast because I was out early. I would give this place another chance but I would wait until all the updates are done. Other people might not be as forgiving with the smell and the construction look.
"Very rude staff!"
I used to be a frequent guest when this was the Holiday inn, and I basically knew what to expect , and the staff for the previous new was very nice , and accommodating !!! When I went to check in the lady who seemed to be manager was very rude. I asked to see one of the rooms, and the manager was speaking to her staff in Spanish stating she did not want to show us a room , but I speak spanish, and what she said was more than mildly offensive.I don't even want to repeat we said, that's why I'm so upset.I decoded to leave and go to a warm, welcoming hotel instead. I will not return.
"Renovations didn't seem to impact our stay"
10/04/14 bbtchr13 Boston, Massachusetts
Our stay was at an inconvenient time, due to the hotel being under renovation. There were many workers there during the day, but this didn't seem to interfere with our stay. The hallways were in mid-renovation and we were afraid that our room would be in the same condition. That said, our room, a suite, was clean and comfortable. It was newly refurbished, had a comfortable bed and fridge, microwave, wet bar. It had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was standard continental, but sufficient to get you on your way. Would recommend for a short 1-2 night stay if you were passing through or had an event in the area.
"a total mess"
08/06/14 Tina C Perkasie, Pennsylvania, United States
Selected this hotel because it was near the soccer fields we were playing at and I was in charge of booking for the whole soccer team. This was one of the ones selected by the soccer organization so I thought it was safe to use. However~ upon arrival the hotel was in total disarray and under complete renovation. Would have been nice to know this was the case when we booked but it was not told to us. There was no carpet on the floors, hallways etc...actually had glue residue and was sticky. The electricity went out in the conference room which is where we sent to go for the free breakfast which was also cold and no well equipped. Hopefully once they get the renovations completed it will be a nice place to go but the whole team we were with "hated it"
