"Good Location for Quick Weekend Trip"
I traveled with some friends to Portland and this hotel was a quick ride away (less than 10 dollar cab ride) from downtown where we were going out. We weren't in the room very much but we all slept very wellGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Spot for a night in Portland"
Always stay at the La Quinta when I visit Portland. Very convienent for going out in the Old Port.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not best location but very comfy and great deal"
This hotel is not perfectly located for a vacation in Portland, being in a quite remote and rather industrial quarter of town. However, if you are looking for a good deal and have a car to travel around, it is a good choice. The room we had was very clean and the bed comfortable. The desk has a really good chair which is great for writing emails or […] working; wifi is included. Our window was facing the Maine Medical Center, which is in close proximity. You might here ambulance sirens once in a while, as well as trains on the railroad next to the hotel; neither of those kept us from sleeping well, though. The included continental breakfast is not good at all - they have these waffle makers and bagels but all of low quality. Good enough for a quick breakfast, but when you have the time and funds you should go to Denny's round the corner. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"will definitely stay here again"
stayed one night, new years eve. hotel staff was GREAT. the front desk girl was very very friendly and the chambermaids were very polite and happy women. it was freezing so we took cabs but if it was the summer you can easily walk to shops and restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were moved into one of the new rooms and it was not ready for use. The first night we had someone knocking on our window asking if they could come in and the AC/Heating Unit was out of control. We had to move rooms 2 nights into our stay because it was freezing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and Comfortable"
Very clean, recently renovated comfortable rooms. Breakfast is typical chain hotel- waffles, cereal, toast. Only big disappointment was no fresh-brewed coffee, only instant from a machine! But otherwise very pleasant and would stay again with a trip to Dunkin Donuts in the AM.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A hotel for a short stay with quite good prices"
All in all it was ok. Nevertheless a fact which disturbed me, I forgot in the fridge in my room some gifts( chocolda etc.)-they were gone when I called the hotel less than 24 hours after my departure: thats not a recommendation!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Budget friendly, nice staff, comfy bed"
First off, the bed was VERY comfortable, and that's huge in my book. We stayed at La Quinta when we were in Portland visiting friends. The location was ok, and while the bathroom was a little shabby it was clean and serviceable. It was a short drive to Old Port and if you happen to be taking a bus I did notice it's walking distance from the Greyhound […] station. The staff were lovely and accommodating. For what we paid it was just fine, we only needed a place to sleep and didn't want to pay double for a cuter place and slightly better location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms were ok. The access to the airport was just fine, convenient and timely. But the advertised free parking was for only one night and more than one night was an unexpected $50. This information should have been made available before choosing this location. Hot breakfast started after we had to leave for the airport.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
hotel was under construction but the girl at the desk was very helpful with local knowledge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel for the money"
This was our second year staying here. We enjoy it. Its clean and suits our needs for a short weekend getaway. Its close to downtown and taxi rides are very inexpensive. Its definetley not a 5 star but for the price its not bad at all considering how close old port is. I would reccomend this hotel to people that are looking for a reasonable and addorable […] hotel room. The breakfast in the morning is also a nice feature. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Low Point of 2 week trip."
Last stop off before leaving for home (Utah & California) after two week visit to New England. We were going to a quilting retreat in Harpswell, ME. We also were "Peeping at the Leaves". This motel was undergoing renovations due to water damage several months before. We were not aware of this issue. It was an inconvenience. Morning breakfast was cramped. […] Not as nice as all the other motel stays on our trip but adequate. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Pillows were a bit on the hard side, but there were 3 per bed. We had a 2 bed room. Needed a hotel close to the airport as our flight was cancelled. Staff shuttled us where we needed to go, and not far from the airport. Good place for a one night stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close enough to the city."
We stated for a week and it was convenient. We were able to walk into downtown and old Bay Area every day. It's very close to the transportation center, that's why we chose it. The beds are very comfortable and it's a quiet place to stay. We hAd no issues even with the renovations on the first floor it suited our purpose well. We spent the days out […] and nights there and it accommodated those needs. Breakfast is as expected, cereal juice waffles... Normal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great place for the price"
Great place in good location. The first floor was a mess do to remodeling, but it didn't really effect us and will be nice when completed. The staff is very friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad, not great."
Quick cab-ride close to downtown. Not so good for walking. Under construction from flood damage. Wifi was out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice, helpful staff. Very clean, great housekeeping. Enjoyed the breakfast set-up. Everything available - eggs, waffles, coffee, cereal etc.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Just OK - no housekeeping service"
We were visiting my parents along with other famy who were already staying in their guest room. This is the closest motel to them. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and the breakfast was fine. However, we left early in the morning and came back at our baby's bedtime to find the room had not been cleaned. The weird thing was […] there was a fresh bathmat and washcloth folded up on the edge of the tub. But the bed hadn't been touched, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned, and nothing else (including the ONE packet of coffee) hadn't been restocked. We were pretty annoyed but needed to get to bed so didn't call the desk. When we checked out in the moring the woman at the front desk said that "sounded weird" and gave us $20 off the bill. The rate we got seemed pretty steep for this kind of place to begin so that wasn't much of a help. I'm not sure I would stay there again. There was also no luggage rack in the room, nowhere to hang we towels, and the bathroom was a little shabby. The firdt floor was under construction due to some recent flooding but they seemed to be doing their best with that. The location is convenient for us (and is near the train and bus stations) but didn't like the spotty service for the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not in great shape..."
I've stayed at this hotel before, and it was a mediocre experience. It was worse this time, as they've lost the first floor to a flood and it's currently under renovation. In addition, my room smelled slightly odd. However, the staff are lovely, the rates are good, and the location is great. Plus, there's parking. I'll continue to put up with it to […] save >100/night at the downtown hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"It was ok"
nice hotel, great staff, had an odor on the 3rd floor, seems as though it used to be a smoking hotel in the past a lot of construction going on seems more like a motelGenuine Expedia guest review
Great visit to the Portland area! we only need a place to sleep, it was a very busy trip. The room was all we needed it to be.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok for convenience"
The hotel is very close to the hospital, so it was perfect in that respect. The young lady that checked us in was very pleasant. As for the hotel itself, it could use some refreshing, for sure. The first floor is under repair from a flood (acceptable) but the upper floors are showing some age. Kind of gloomy in the halls. Of course when the train went […] through at 2a.m. Or so, it sounded like a plane landing outside the window..lol .but for our purposes of being just down the hill from the hospital, as mentioned, it was perfect. Although we did not use the shuttle, there was one available. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Broken equipment in the fitness room."
Two of three tread mills did not work. The staff were aware of the inoperable equipment, but did not mark the equipment to indicate its condition. I stayed for three days and no apparent action was taken to fix the tread mills.Genuine Expedia guest review
Should have been told that water damage occur on the first floor thruout.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I had a very restful night, slept better on this bed than on my own bed at home. No problem with late checkin. Best price this close to downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel had experienced a flash flood, so lower 2 feet of lobby area was wrapped in black plastic. We were on 4th floor. No problems there although guests at other end of hallway were irate about a dog that barked all night in an adjacent room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was clean. Staff were friendly. The hotel was under repair.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good value except for paint fumes"
The room was clean and comfortable but we were surprised and disappointed to find them doing industrial painting which sent fumes throughout the hotel, including light fumes in our room the first night.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel had suffered flood and not been forthcoming before we made reservation.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Family Vacation in Aug 2014"
Hotel was fine, but management did not warn guests when the parking lot began to flood due to heavy rain despite flooding on the first floor. We were unable to move our rental car, which had to be towed and replaced the next morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is conveniently located near the downtown, but is due for a makeover. The bed is comfortable, but the towels are thin. The breakfast offerings are decent. Overall, the hotel is a clean basic place to stay overnight as you pass through the New England states.Genuine Expedia guest review
"under construction because of flash flood?"
Wish I had advance notice, bottom floor of hotel pretty trashedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We walked into the lobby and walked out. If the hotel was under a renovation maybe it should have closed. Windows were broken and taped closed with plastic sheeting. The "lobby" was also all closed off with plastic except for the desk and the tiny "breakfast nook" was filthy. The staff at the desk were polite and let us cancel our stay. Would definitely […] not even consider a return trip. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Under repair and construction"
Finding the hotel from the highway is not easy and the driving directions given to us by the front desk staff were not much help. The hotel was under renovation with noise and dust. Had we known we would have chosen a different hotel. The location is not near restaurants. The parking lot is small and made smaller with construction vehicles taking some […] parking spaces. Highway noise did not help sleeping. Breakfast area was under construction so the advertised breakfast was not available. They gave us a granola bar and yogurt to eat in the car. We asked for a reduction in the charged and they said "no" because we booked through Expedia. Careful about working through Expedia. Read the fine print. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Perfect location, inexpensive, walking distance to downtown & old port and great service. Recommended if you don't mind a basic, simple hotel. More reason to get out and see the city instead of sitting in your hotel room!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Could not sleep all night long too much noisy! air condition unit can not controll, hotel too close to road makes lot a noisy,Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad for the price"
Only a $5 cab ride to downtown (you can walk it on a nice day) and close to the airport (with a free shuttle). Considering how much you save here versus the places right downtown it was worth it. Continental breakfast was alright. The girl checking us in had no business working at a hotel front desk but once she got some help it was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Too Soon to Talk"
We arrived at this hotel the day after it had been hit with massive flooding from the most severe storm in decades. To the staff's credit, it was up and running despite repair work going on. I expect from the effort and attitude, this lodging will be quite fine and even more pleasant for visitors by the time this review is printed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean hotel, did the trick"
We had a pleasant stay at this La Quinta. My wife and I and my two daughters ages 10 and 8 were with us to sightsee in Maine. Our hotel was not exactly in a charming part of town. Across from the parking lot was a milk factory which was funny to me. In 5 or 10 minutes we were able to drive to Old Port to see the sites, shops, restaurants, etc. Staff […] were helpful. The room was clean, very comfy beds and pillows. The continental breakfast was one of the least fancy of continental breakfasts I have experienced, but there were plenty of things to fill me and family up before starting the day. The night clerks were friendly, competent, and helped me come up with ideas to do for the next day, when rain was expected. Some of the hotel was damaged from a flash flood the second night, but we wer upstairs and not effected, while others on the first level were relocated to a safer hotel. I had a good time at the hotel and enjoyed my comfy bed and continental breakfast. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Got to the Portland Jetport at 8pm. Called hotel for shuttle and was informed they couldn't find my reservation despite having the confirmation email. Was told hotel was booked. Ended up at a less then desirable hotel instead. Was only in Portland for one night. Whole night was ruined and ended up paying a fortune for taxi cabs.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean, comfortable and easy"
Really appreciated the proximity to the highway and getting downtown. The fact that you could park for free was great, and in the mornings we did not mind walking (Holy Donut was only a 7 min walk down the street). We weren't in town for any games, but all of the stadiums are RIGHT THERE. The room was extremely clean, everything was comfortable and […] the front desk staff were very kind.
