"OK place if you want a cheap room in Portland."
Hotel is near a slum area and near to the Hood milk plant. A little loud in the AM. Would be scary to walk downtown and a little far. Take a cab.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotels in the downtown/oldport area were far more expensive than I was willing to pay and this hotel was an ok price and wasn't sketchy. However, I didn't feel comfortable walking at night to/from here to the happening area of town. The area wasn't the best and I was alone on this trip. However, it was close enough to be convenient. The staff was […] nice, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable after my long days of shopping or hiking. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"All great except for the pillows"
This is almost a great hotel. They have everything I need, including breakfast in a very clean room--except that they have saved money on pillows, and it is clear the minute you put your head on one. Since I spend about 8 hours each day on a pillow, it is something that makes a big impression on me. I've gotten used to high quality pillows in their […] competing hotels over the last couple years. I'm sure LaQuinta will catch up eventually, but for now, I'll try somewhere else next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the location was fine, not walking distance of downtown Portland but a quick drive. the room was lacking in cleaniness. there were hairs around the bathroom sink area and some long hair stuck on the bottom of the iron. some hair also in the bathtub. the carpet looked like it needed more vacuuming. there was also some dried food stuck on the floor by […] the entrance. i found a cricket staring back at me from the AC when i turned it on, no other bugs. you can often smell smoke from adjacent rooms, so the ventilation is a problem. I didn't have trouble with noise as other reviewers had, but I am from an urban area so am used to noise at night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"very basic, expensive for area"
This was a very basic, no-frills hotel near a dairy plant that was over-priced for August. I probably would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not great but not terrible."
The room was okay. The pool was dirty and gross-looking. And the fitness center was a treadmill, bike, and cable machine. And it was stinky. The staff were really nice though.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close but not close enough."
Location was 1 to 1.5 miles to stores, bars and restaurants. Staff was very informative on downtown portland. Gym has one treadmill, one bike and one universal.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean room but hotel needs some updates!"
Not impressed with appearance of hotel. Need to update appearance of exterior and lobby! Fitness center is a room? Hotel Room was clean but wish the window would open. Bathroom is tiny and needs some color!!Genuine Expedia guest review
staying in Portland is expensive, especially in the summer. We thought this was one of the best values we could find, and the facilities were all very nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not bad. Outside of town. Breakfast was ok. Need more protein choices.Genuine Expedia guest review
"close to the beach, location is not the best."
staff was helpful, breakfast is free and o.k,space is a little small.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fine & as expected"
Hotel was perfectly clean and fine, staff was friendly, the room was nice. Only problem was the AC didn't seem to stay on in the night so it was a bit warm feeling. The location is in walking distance of downtown Portland - we took a cab back at night for about $10 or less (including tip).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"it gets the job done"
It was nothing fancy but we were satisfied with our stay. The checkin guy was friendly enough, the room and facilities were fine. Was a bit busy for breakfast saturday morn given the smaller space but there was a decent selection and staff was around and taking care of things. It all could have been much worse at this "level" of hotel so as long as […] your expectations aren't overboard you'll be happy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"You get what you pay for"
This hotel is beat up....even the floor in the elevator and bathrooms are cheap imitation of hardwood flooring but clearly a fake. The corridor has a funny unpleasant smell. We were supposed to have breakfast included but did not eat there as the continental breakfast was horrible. The littel room where they serve the breakfast is very tiny, My family […] and I were just standing around trying to find seats, we finally left and got breakfast elsewhere. The location of this hotel is also very disapointing. I will not stay here again and do not recommend it. Trust me, this is a cheap motel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overpriced and the place smelled"
The place was very overpriced and the room smelled like old socks. It was very convenient to downtown, Hadlock Field and the interstate. However the prices were similar to nice hotels in Boston and the quality was subpar. The service at the hotel was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
short cab ride or 30 minute walk from downtown shops and restaurants, clean roomsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very quiet and wonderful staff"
The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable and made for a good night sleep. The staff was very friendly always had smiles even when we checked in close to midnight. If we go through Maine again we'll definitely stay here!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quality hotel close to Old Port"
Hotel was close to the highway and close enough to the main area in Portland. Overall, good experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good, not great location, within walking distance to ballpark where Portland Seadogs play (Boston Redsox Double AA minor league affiliate), very convenient to rail and bus stations (short taxi ride) hotel provided free shuttle to and from a nice convenience, room was clean, air conditioning blew cold, water pressure in shower was good, king bed very […] comfortable, outdoor inground pool was adequate (heavily chlorinated, no surprise), overslept the continental breakfast intentionally (appeared to be loaded with starchy, floury baked good, cereals, etc - probably/might have eaten there is open to 11:00 am/closed 9:00 am), staff was friendly and helpful (recommended an OUTSTANDING breakfast 'Becky's Diner' a short cab ride away), overall adequate experience, would have been rated a 4 instead of a 3 due to price as the room was expensive - albeit seasonal and understanding, also it never ceases to amaze me that not only did the hotel staff not know definitively but surrounding area businesses also did not know exactly what time the gates to the ballpark open? Is 4:30 pm for a 7:00 pm game, btw. The hotel is a partner to the Seadogs and area business rely on their existence (one place actually said, "oh, are they in town tonight?"). When I go back up there again, and we will, I will consider staying at a much nicer hotel near the ocean for just a little more money. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Seadogs stadium, but a dated hotel"
We actually ended up canceling our reservation and going to a different hotel, but couldn't switch until the next day. So we begrudgingly spent one night. The rooms were quite dated, we had to cross the parking lot to get to the pool (not a great idea with children), and our room was next to train tracks so we were awakened by trains all night long. […] Not a good experience. Not an easy location for walking to anywhere, except the Seadogs stadium. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Super close to 295, so only minutes to downtown. Right across from the ballpark for those in town to see the Sea Dogs. Service was great - staff were helpful and friendly. Not the newest/cleanest hotel ever, but not gross and certainly a great value for the price. I'd stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Housekeeping terrible !!!"
My bed spread was not changed before I arrive , it had tons of dog hair on it. Room not vacuumed dog hair piled up. Took 2 days of me asking to get my bed changed. Shower had moldGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Pet-Friendly Hotel"
I sometimes need to travel with my 2 dogs, so I'm always on the look-out for pet friendly hotels. This hotel does not charge a pet fee, and they are ultra friendly to pets as well. I would recommend this hotel (and the LaQuinta chain) to anyone traveling with their pets.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good place for a ballgame"
Perfectly decent, clean, unexceptional motel, with a great location if you're going to a Sea Dogs game.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A few miles from the city shops/pubs/restaurants"
The stay was fairly decent and comfortable other than two things. One is there was a used bandaid left in the shower soap tray. Two is the hallway had a musty/dirty carpet odor to it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"n ext to the ballpark"
it was very clean rooms and over all it was beautifully kept.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was nice and helpful. Room was clean, spacious. Nice little swimming pool. 20 minute walk to center of town. I'd go back in a second. (Don't say that about too many hotels, especially in this price range.)Genuine Expedia guest review
The bed was very comfortable. Close to the heart of Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"La Quinta, Portland MA"
Whilst not central to main town, the La Quinta provides sufficient, clean, well looked after accommodation. It fitted within our nightly budget. The location is a bit run down, and the Hood's ice cream/dairy is across the road - a trick missed there to provide welcoming ice cream, on arrival - maybe ! The rail way is close to it, depending on the side […] your room is, but it didn't bother us, there are other smaller restaurants in the vicinity but a walk into town would take a while, and there is a bus you can get.. So not too bad. It's the local area that could be cleaned up to the level of this hotel! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location - Good Price"
The room was clean and comfortable. My only complaints would be the train tracks were very close and the noise from the train was disturbing. Also, although we were in a non-smoking room, we could frequently smell cigarette smoke quite heavily, perhaps from someone in the room next to ours. It was gross!Genuine Expedia guest review
Satisfactory for the moneyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It is pet frendly; our socks were very dirty after walking around. I don't know if this contributed to it. The room smelled like a dirty sweeper. The last night the a/c had a terrible odor; fortunately it was cool outside so we turned it off. "Good value - enjoyed my stay"
Clean room, everything worked, convenient location, easy check-in/check-out, computer available in lobby, breakfast not fancy but good. Staff was very helpful. The first night I went for a walk and got caught in a sudden rainstorm without an umbrella. Called them and they sent over a van to pick me up. Greatly appreciated!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A bargain for the price"
Much cheaper than the other hotels in the area (especially the downtown ones), and only a 20 minute walk to Old Port. Everything about the hotel was satisfactory, the staff were helpful and everything was clean. Free breakfast was decent as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointing at Best"
Although it does have easy access on and off the highway. This was about the highlight of our stay in regards to this hotel and the area. If you are looking for a fun trip to Maine skip the Portland area. Bum’s on nearly every corner, and stoned looking people everywhere. Went out for a late night bite to eat and certainly did not feel safe.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good stop while working in Portland"
Great location for the working person. Room had very good internet connection. Food / Beer within walking distance and fast food just as close. Would stay here againGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is very basic. Bed, dresser, shower, etc. It was clean, though the shower curtain was moldy. One thing that would make a big difference would be for their shuttle to run downtown/to Old Port. Then the distance (it's about a $10 cab ride) wouldn't seem as big a deal. Seems silly that it doesn't, as it runs to the airport, etc. All in all, a […] decent place to get a night's sleep. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wow, What a Stinker"
Hey, do you like being woken up at 3 a.m. by rowdy hotel guests and constantly slamming doors? Do you also like complaining to the front desk about this, only to have them look at you with a blank "what am I supposed to do" look? Well then, La Quinta Inn is the place for you! We stayed here two nights, and dealt with rowdy other rooms both nights. On […] top of this, the room had a noisy heater, the elevator for the hotel takes about five minutes to operate (there's only one), and the aforementioned doors aren't rigged to close gently.....they slam, every time. So every 10 seconds during the day, you're feeling your room shake from a slamming door. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel and close to ball field"
the room was clean and neat, met all necessary requirements. Breakfast was more complete than most Continental breakfasts.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel to stay in Portland. However, I do not understand why people with pets are put on the fourth floor. Great stay anyway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I thought the staff was very friendly and helpful. I really liked the relaxed atmosphere and thought our stay was a good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for the price"
The room wasn't very up to date, but it was very comfortable. We walked the mile or so to downtown and it was just long enough to feel inconvenient. The neighborhood it's in didn't feel the safest either. The cab ride back to the hotel that night was about $10, the room was clean, the bed was super comfortable, breakfast was good, and the price was […] right. I'm satisfied.
