"Fabulous hotel close to the centre"
Great hotel for a weekend in Barcelona! Good restaurant and bars close by with a large new shopping complex about 5 minutes walk away. The centre of Barcelona is a pleasant 30 minute walk.

"Hotel perfect in every way, close enough to centre"
Only spent the weekend at the hotel but cannot fault anything. From the moment we arrived to departure, staff were polite and helpful, appearance of the highest standard at all times. Food in plentiful and a very good variety. Cleanliness of the highest standard and minor issue with robe in room dealt with immediately. Will be making a return visit in the future.

"Service at this hotel is second to none!"
We stayed in room 1703 for 5 nights. Room was very clean and well appointed. The bed had high quality linens, a menu for pillows!,nespresso machine, fridge,robes, tub, and amazing shower etcetc! Air con worked well. Noise between party wall was a minor annoyance but that's very common in hotels. breakfast was lovely and the level upgrade was worth every penny. A 10-15 minute walk to the nearest metro. 59 bus is very close though! It's not a touristy neighbourhood so feels safe. Taxi back to the airport midweek in the middle of the day was 27 euros. Absolutely brilliant hotel from our experience. :)

"Dealt well with complaint"
Booked for 4 nights. on arrival we were allocated a tiny room with inadequate storage - no space to put been one case. Complained to reception who said it was because we were on a cheap - ie Expedia deal. Manager - Alexis - apologised for the room which he readily acknowledged was not acceptable, but as hotel was full could not move us for first 2 nights. Also arranged breakfast for 2 on all 4 mornings at no charge (worth 152 Euros. I felt under the circumstances Alexis did very well and treated us with honesty and consideration. The hotel is very pleasant and stylish. Its location is a 15 minute walk from nearest metro and 30 minute walk from Nou Camp. There is not much nearby in terms of barsd and restaurants. We would stay again - for us Alex retrieved the situation.

"GOOD MODERN HOTEL CLOSE TO CITY CENTER."
WE ARRIVED FROM LONDON AND TRAVELED INTO THE TOWN CENTER BY AIRPORT BUS, THEN A QUICK TAXI RIDE TO THE HOTEL. CHECK IN WAS VERY EFFICIENT WITH GOOD STAFF WHO SPOKE EXCELLENT ENGLISH. THEY MADE A ROOM CHANGE FOR US WITH NO FUSS. TWO GREAT RESTAURANTS. DOWN STAIRS 'CHEESE BAR' IS A VERY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE AND MOST ENJOYABLE. FOOD WAS LOVELY, FRESH AND WELL PRESENTED. AS YOU WOULD EXPECT THE CHEESE SELECTION IS EXTENSIVE AND THE PRESENTATION AND CARE OVER QUALITY WAS VERY NICE TO SEE. THE WINE LIST WAS WELL BALANCED AND THE WAITERS KNOWLEDGE WAS VERY USEFUL. THE BAR ON THE SECOND FLOOR WAS VERY WELL RUN AND THE BAR MAN WAS MOST PLEASANT. WE HAD A LOVELY MEAL IN THE RESTAURANT ON THIS FLOOR. WE WERE A LITTLE WORRIED ABOUT THE LIMITED CHOICE ON THE MENU. THIS WAS UNFOUNDED AS THE SELECTIONS WE MADE HAD THE MOST WONDERFUL FLAVORS AND TEXTURES. WE WERE SERVED BY A VERY EFFICIENT MANAGER AND A LOVELY WAITRESS. IT WAS AN EXCELLENT EVENING. WE PURCHASED OUR TOURIST BUS TICKET FROM RECEPTION AND AGAIN THE STAFF WERE FANTASTIC, EVERYTHING WAS EXPLAINED AND DIRECTIONS TO THE NEAREST STOP SIMPLE AND ACCURATE. A nice hotel if you stay at the Level. the service is better for customers who pay that bit extra, the view from the hotel is nice. The staff are great. The managers could probably learn a thing or two from them.

Lovely lobby and bar/restaurant areas with friendly and helpful staff. Room a little small for 2 (standard double). Checking in and out was painful with chaotic staff making multiple errors. Many seemed to be unsupervised trainees. No manager available to solve problems during bar/restaurant opening hours.

"Excellent and peaceful stay"
Loved the location peaceful n safe. Away from the mad buzzle of the tourist attractions. Convienent buses n train to all the attractions or a 30 minute walk The staff were helpful and spoke English. We requested adjoining rooms and it was granted. Didn't have food at the hotel so don't know the quality or price.

"Nice hotel; small spa"
Quite nice hotel about 15 minutes walk from the city centre. Closest metro station is about 10 minutes away. Access to the spa can be gotten by purchasing access to the level which also includes a buffet open from 7 am to 11 pm. Very friendly and nice staff and they were very happy to give us directions and locations to visit during our stay. Spa could be bigger and less noisy (water jets) but all in all it was a good experience.

"Fantastic mystery hotel"
My wife and I booked the mystery hotel through expedia and we're a bit apprehensive about what we would get but this hotel was great. Room was very good and the service was first class. Could be a bit closer to the metro but the nearest station is only a 10 minute walk, so if u are not very mobile then think about somewhere else.

At first the room they gave us was very unacceptable. After conferring with the person who checked us in our room was changed to something more desireable and larger. We are not sure of their policy, but it seemed if they could get the most for our money that was a plan.

"Good value"
Hotel was not the best located for the sites of Barcelona however it is close to where the tour bus stops for anyone wishing to use it. The location is more suitable for business travel. There is a metro station about 12 minutes walk away but taxis are very reasonable in Barcelona. The hotel appeared recently refurbished and was in very good condition. Finishing a and decor are modern and tasteful. The view from our room on the 2nd floor was not great but I imagine higher floors have great views. That said we didn't intend spending the weekend looking out if the window. The room had two single beds. It was somewhat compact though the bathroom was excellent with a spacious shower and jacuzzi bath. There is a small gym, indoor pool and sauna. The gym is small and not well equipped but ok for a hotel I guess. The pool is also quite small but quite relaxing. I had lunch in the restaurant once. It wasn't amazing but was ok and not priced unreasonably. Overall I would recommend this hotel for business or leisure travel.

Room good and staff extremely helpful and friendly. Not in the main area but easily accessed by bus or walking. Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Good cafés and bars beae to hotel provide a good alternative to hotel meals /drinks

"Clean, comfortable and large room in lovely hotel."
Very comfortable king bed, corner room, quiet, nice toiletries, jacuzzi tub plus separate shower, in room safe, stocked mini fridge all combined to make our four days in Barcelona a wonderful experience. Hotel is at the edge of Eixample so walking to La Ramblas or Sagrada Familia would be quite a hike. Fortunately, the transit system in Barcelona is great. Buy a ten pak travel card and it can be used on the metro and bus...easiest way to get around. Cabs are also very good value and lots of them on the street at all times...just hail one.

"OK but not near tourist attractions"
Hotel is said to be 5*, but feels like 3*. Room was a bit small and my biggest disappointment was the lack of kettle for tea / coffee making - even 3* hotels give this. Breakfast rates were steep and I felt they were trying to extract money at every juncture. Everything seemed to be extra - even the bottled water was part of the minibar. Spent all three days protecting my money. Would probably use again now that I know my way around Barcelona and how to get to the parts where all the action is - nothing in the vicinity near the hotel apart from Barcelona FC (Camp Nuo), which is about 30mins walk away (or easy bus ride).

Hotel was very nice and staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable on directions. Morning buffet breakfast was very good too. Overall the location of the hotel was not far from the main attractions, and bus ride was only about 10 minutes away from La Rambas, Park Guell and La Strada Familia. Only a 10 minute walk to Avenue Diagonal and Place de Gracia, for all the major brand name stores. Only complaint was our room's shower stall had a leak that needed some caulking to fix. They had to caulk it twice to correct the leaking from the shower stall.

"Fabulous Staff. Great Location."
We're a family of four and booked two rooms to accommodate all of us through Expedia. Just getting off a cruise ship, we arrived at the Melia very early in the morning with the hope of dropping our luggage there until check in time. They went above and beyond - our rooms were ready and they checked us in right away! They also made sure to give us rooms side-by-side. The front desk staff couldn't do enough for us - they were amazing. Rooms are modern and the spa bathroom is huge. The only issues keeping me from giving the Melia a 5 star rating are: beds were uncomfortable, the carpet is worn thin, and we were put in smoking rooms. However, the amazing front desk staff more than made up for these minor issues.

"Upscale but....."
Hotel was clean and well run.Staff were excellent especially the concierge, Daniel who was so kind to us. Food was excellent but 22 Eur for breakfast was over the top price wise. Location is far from old town and historical sites though it can be walked if you have both time and energy. Only real complaint was size of room. It was so small we had trouble finding room for two large suitcases and it was an upgraded room on the 19th flr. We have travelled through Turkey and all of Southern Europe for two months. Smallest room by far. Barcelona has so many great hotels I would not return to the Melia.

"Beware the Expedia Secret Discount Hotel option."
City break holiday to Barcelona ended up in the Melia because of opting for Expedia Secret Discounted Hotel. This is the problem I Had location box ticked ,Pool box ticked etc the Secret hotel was described as Downtown, Melia is on the edge of the business area. This we found to be 3 tram stops followed by 8 metro stops , easy enough but takes about 35 mins to town centre. Beware this Secret option.staff helpful and friendly. Melia it self is a fine modern business hotel with excellent rooms on the basic no breakfast booking , Check in took 25 mins and NO option for an early check in unless you take up the Upgrade (see below) They will lock up your luggage while you go out , collect it at check in time later. We could not use the pool although ticked that box (as this was offered in the spa package at £45 per day upgrade) which then included breakfast and a slightly better room. When visiting a lovely city like Barcelona who wants to spend hours in the Gym Spa (Business Traveller maybe) Melia is in a safe district near Diagonal , plenty of quieter eateries and bars within a 10 min walk once you gain your bearings even the open top city sightseeing buses go by but there is NO stop here. Barcelona is thought of as the Pickpocket / Dipping capital of Europe , We actually found it as safe as other big cities , If you look like a victim you may well become one , a small combo lock on the rucksack (and keep your stuff in it) seemed adequate to dissuade and keep hold of it .

Reception was one of the slowest check in processes I have ever come across, the system seemed not to work or the guy was poorly trained, however, it was surpassed by the check out that took over 20 mins at the counter ....with colleagues waiting it was embarrassing...

"Grand Hôtel de luxe"
Que ce soit le personnel ou l hôtel il frôle presque l excellence le seul inconvénient c'est le bruit extérieur l insonorisation des fenêtres serait à revoir dans les chambres..... j'ai passé un excellent week-end à Barcelone vive l l'Espagne ils sont super accueillant et chaleureux.... merci la SNCF pour cette offre très intéressante et rentable pour un 5 étoiles

Bonjour, une remarque pour expedia, Nous avions précisé que nous etions 3, 2 adultes et un enfant de 6 ans. Quand nous sommes rentrés dans la chambre ' il y avait 2 lits +1 lit de bébé! Notre enfant a passé les nuits dans un lit bébé et etait à l étroit. Donc , quand nous reservons sur le site , faites attention à bien prendre en compte les données. Merci

"Sehr schönes 5Stern Hotel in zentraler Lage!"
Das Hotel ist sehr neu und modern. Frühstück gut. Allein die Lifte dort sind innovativ, habe ich noch nirgends sonst wo gesehen. Es ist immer und sofort einer da, egal wie hoch/tief man muss. Durch das neue Lift-Konzept (Keine Druckknöpfe mehr im Lift sondern am Gang), fährt einer der 4 Lifte immer sofort zu einem und dann durch, sensationell!
