The Melia Costa Del Sol is not bad as far as hotels go. It's just showing its age and the signs of the economic crisis. The outside of the hotel shows lots of wear and damage (you can see the rebar on many balconies). The reception is in the basement with extremely low ceilings (less than 7ft / about 2m in some areas). The rooms are ok and reasonably […] clean, the elevators are a joke (tiny and slow). While we were there the elevators were broke some of the time. The front desk staff were very helpful but they need a new check in system. Great location - accross the street from the beach - but there are no hotels on the beach. Its a well-maintained property. We signed up for the Breakfast which was good. Largest complaint is that the internet is PAINFULLY slow from the room AND the lobby. Tried to cancel a train reservation and book a plane instead - took us over 2.5 hours. The internet […] actually blocks some sites. Very dissappointing! Also - no King beds - only two doubles pushed together. To the front desk manager -- it's called a "stanchion." Please purchase a few to help keep the lines at the front desk in order. It was a free for all when I was there. It was a Sunday near check out time -- a small group of us in a normal line....waiting for our turn. Next thing you know, the personnel behind the desk (who I must say weren't extraordinary […] during the stay -- just average) started waiting on anyone who was in front of them - with no concern as to who was actually next. ("Next" were a woman waiting patiently in a wheelchair as well as a family with a 4-6 month old baby.) It took nearly 30 minutes for me to receive service due to the "line" simply falling apart and every man for himself -- jumping position and trying to receive attention by the staff behind the desk. As this was my last memory of the hotel as I was checking out -- it colored my entire stay. I didn't need much from the staff at the hotel while I was there. I just needed them to do their job. This event disappointed me greatly and is why I gave a "2" for the quality of the staff and their service. Read more

I have stayed at other hotels of similar quality in Torremolinos, but I loved the Melia Costa del Sol! Could not ask for a better location on the beach, and just a stone's throw away from the shopping center. A few more steps up the hill (or using the elevator), and you are in the town square with the Renfe Cercanías and the bus terminal right there. […] Quick trip to/from the airport by train or taxi. The only things I did not like were the fact that you had to go through the basement/reception to enter or exit the hotel (you could not exit or enter on the pool/ground level). Rather curious. I would understand its being that way in the wee hours for security reasons, but I found it strange having to go down to level -1 just to exit (and walk right past the desk, especially when dripping wet coming from the beach). The other thing that I found strange was that the pool had very limited opening hours (10am-7pm). As many of you know, in Costa del Sol the sun does not set until 9:30pm in the summertime, and it is too hot for most of the day to exercise. I was not able to take a refreshing swim in the pool after my run because the pool closed too early! But I think it is common at the hotels to close early, perhaps to keep people out of the area who might hang around after hours. Not sure. But in any event, wonderful, clean hotel with great service and a great breakfast buffet! Read more

Tormellinos is accurately described by many as a pretty tacky, 'touristy' and 'overbuilt' area. It isn't Marbella. Lots of tatoo parlors and junk stores. That made us a little nervous, along with the stories about large groups and tours. We chose it because we had an early morning flight and didn't want to be far from the Airport, But this hotel is […] very nice and centrally located. Absolutely nothing to complain about and lots to praise. Two things to keep in mind. We spent our time on the beach, not at the pool. It seemed like there were not many pool side lounges and chairs in the pool area, given the size of the hotel, and if the pool is your preference you should keep that in mind. They told us the pool area was usually filled up by 10 AM or so. But given how close the Med is, (steps- you can't get any closer) that might not be a problem anyway. Also, if you have a car, note that the hotel does not have many parking spaces. Those were pretty minor issues to us. Hotel is GREAT. Read more

We stayed here our last two nights in Spain before flying out of Malaga. The hotel's close proximity to the Malaga airport (about 10 minute cab ride) is what prompted us to stay here, as well as being directly across from the beach (no hotels in Torremolinos are actually on the beach). The Melia Costa del Sol is a nice hotel, but it locks some issues to my personal taste. For example, I am use to have an ironing board in the room and an iron, This hotel does not provide Klennex, which I think is necessary. Those are the only two things that the hotel do not provide and I sure miss.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. All the amenities for a convienient stay are there. Only on one instance was the service unpleasant; the ice machine on our floor was not working and they expected us to pay for the ice. The breakfast option is great. Overall a good value for money.

The hotel is in a great location for overnight stay before or after a Malaga flight. It is also well located next to the beach in a nice part of Torremolinos, but it seems to be more aimed at the conference market than holidays. The pool/garden area is small with limited sun beds. Meliã, Costa Del Sol. “Fabulous hotel on the seafront in Torremolinos” We stayed here for the last three weeks of January on half board. The hotel is four star and lives up to it. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The room was superb, with a good bathroom with plenty of soaps and gels etc. It was all kept very clean. The balcony was looking out […] to sea over the immaculate beach, raked every morning. We were glad to be as high as the 7th floor. The food was good, although not gourmet. But the choices were excellent. We were disappointed that for the last ten days we lost the evening buffet for a four course menu in the Proa Restaurant at the front of the hotel. The breakfast was always buffet with large choices. We liked the requests for semi-formal dress particularly in the evening. No ‘tank tops’ shorts or flipflops. The hotel was being improved but is quiet as the road in front of it stops a short way to the west and becomes a very pleasant footpath along the shore. The way up to the shops can be made easier using the public lift, a short way from the hotel. We would always put this hotel at the top of our list. Read more

Hotel is on the seafront with all rooms having sea views. There are 2 wings, imaginatively named A and B. B wing gets the sun on the balcony most of the day, A wing only until about lunch time. I would highly recommend this hotel and would most certainly stay there again.
