Got absolutely no sleep. Hotel is across the street from train tracks, and every hour enormous trains would blow their very very loud horns and bells at 12:38 am, 1:38am, 2:38am etc. etc. Also a/c works only very very cold setting, or too hot. The hotel itself is in poor condition. The room had peeling wallpaper, the bathroom has peeling paint, and the hairdryer almost pulled off the wall. The bed was ok. The breakfast was typical of most free breakfasts. The one shining point was the staff. The staff was helpful, friendly, and very pleased to have our business. We were treated very well. If you just need a place to stay for a night this will be fine. Its clean and looked recently remodled. The walls are pretty thin and there are train tracks close and a fire station. So it can be noisy.

It was an awful experience. The front desk clerk was very rude. The air conditioning in the room barely worked so I walked into a HOT room. There were light bulbs blown out and when I requested them be changed, no one ever came and changed them out. I will NEVER stay there again.

It was comfortable and I could rest well..could use some TLC in certain areas, such as new non-slip grippers in the bathtub and a thorough cleaning of the A/C unit. I also suggest getting a big plastic clip to allow one to clip the curtains together, that way the cool air coming from the A/C unit gets into the […] room...and not just circulating up through the curtains. Good location. Got used to the fire station next door and the 5 trains that went by on the railroad tracks. Biggest problem was no working icemaker on any floor. Sprained ankle and had no ice. The lady at the front desk when we checked in wasn't very friendly. The pool was super small and the lady from the front desk brought six towels in for 8 people. Our room was musty. Over all can not complain, due to being from Chicago there is obviously a different expectation. But being in the area it is the only request is that they update one or two of the rooms and make an exercise room.

The movie channels were not working in my room, when I called the front desk to see why, I was told by the person that she had notified management a few days before and she hadn't heard anything about it yet. I know it's a small thing, but if a complaint was given several days before, follow through on it.

This Quality Inn was in a convenient location for us and our overall stay was positive. The breakfast was average and we did hear some train traffic occasionally. The noise was not enough to really affect our sleep.

I thought that the Quality Inn of Mason City was a great hotel to stay in. They had a nice breakfast with bacon, waffles, hard boiled eggs, danish, muffins, cereal and orange juice. The hotel staff was pleasant and the rooms were clean.
