The hotel staff member, Ebony, was so pleasant and switched my room, last minute for me from a 2-bed to a King with no problem! However, the room as soooooo small that the we literally had to walk around the bed constantly. unable to sleep well; woke up with sore shoulder and hip - pillows not wide enough; pillows originally on bed so puny gave no head or shoulder support, mattresses too firm and my husband said they felt like the mattresses were "shot". We did receive two firmer pillows from front desk but even these didn't give adequate neck and shoulder support, because […] the widths were too short. Putting 2 p[illows side by side caused your head to roll between them over night and would wake you up. Air conditioner was too loud. Couldn't lock the security lock, and even though maintenance tried to fix by replacing screws with washers to stabilize the lock, it still wouldn't slide into the door frame slot. We've stayed in other Comfort Inns in the past (just last August, 2012 in New Brunswick, Maine) and have never had such a terrible sleep. Won't stay in this Comfort Inn again and will hesitate to book a Comfort Inn in the future. However, compliments to the staff because they were very helpful. Read more

The beds were very comfortable and in general the room appeared clean. However, like most hotels the perimeter of the room was not being kept vacumned and was filled with lint. The bathroom was clean but it was terribly small. One had to step between the toilet stool and the tub to open or close the door. A very pregant lady or a heavy person might […] get hit by the door swinging in. If someone were sitting on the stool and another person opened the bathroom door, the person in the bathroom would be hit in the legs and knees as even a child's legs would extend beyond the door opening. My husband has some difficulty with balance and almost fell into the tub because there was no room for him to manuever in his condition. I felt as if the price is way too high for the size of the bathroom. Even the room was smaller than most, but it was acceptable if the room had only two people. Read more

I was in town for a viewing and funeral of a family member. Room was extremely dusty and not fresh as it could have been. Bed linens had black spots/stains and I wondered if they had been laundered. Will not stay at this hotel again.

The first night I arrived, I got my key and took my luggage up to my room. The key didn't work, so I took all my luggage back down to the front desk and had the key re-coded, to which I received no apology. I went back up and the key worked, but the door was locked from the inside and I could see a light on underneath the door! I went back down to the […] front desk with all of my luggage and he went up to see himself. When he came back down he gave me another room and never once apologized! In addition to this the room smelled like smoke, even though it is a non-smoking hotel. The comforter on the bed also had 3 burn areas where someone had put out their cigarettes. I have stayed here at the past and had the same problem. I plan on staying in another hotel on my next visit. The staff were very nice and friendly. They first gave us a room that hadn't been cleaned by housekeeping, but quickly gave us another room. The second room was clean and comfortable. Not a bad hotel, but wouldn't stay here again because of the price.

When we booked the room we specifically asked for a room on the back side of the hotel away from the noise of street traffic. Instead, we were assigned a room in the front of the hotel that had a lot of street noise and that had an ice machine in the hallway adjacent to our room. Between the traffic noise and people scooping ice and the machine constantly […] generating more ice, it was very noisy and interfered with our sleep. In addition, there was some sort of compressor mounted on the outer wall next to the building entrance which was next to our room. This unit also made a continual pulsating noise. Following are a list of issues concerning the "complimentary" breakfast: (1) The individual cartons of milk were all out of date by one day and everyone we tried smelled sour. We pointed this out to the young lady in charge of the breakfast area. She brought out more cartons that were even more outdated and of course, also sour. This situation occurred both morning of our stay. (2) The same young lady was cleaning tables and emptying trash containers and then proceeded to handle the food without washing her hands or using disposable gloves; (3) The bananas were overly ripe and black; (4) Several of the apples showed signs of rot. (5) The breakfast area is quite small with only six or seven tables and therefore we could not understand why a maintenance worker was on a ladder in the center of the table area changing a light bulb during the breakfast hours. Weel I normally hate to critsize ...but we had to request a sheet/ linen change the first day becuace my aunt noticed small hairs on the sheets when she first pulled the covers back...SO we put the requested card ON TOP of the bed for the cleaning personell to re dpo the bed...when they supposedly came in to re do...she noticed AGAIN the SAME hair type […] in her sheets....so, we know they DID NOT change the sheets! My family and I stayed at the comfort inn 7/25-7/27/2011. I have to admit I was very nervous about staying here after reading all the reviews, but to my surprise the hotel room was very clean. My only complaint I felt the person that checked us in could have been more helpful and pleasant. Also although the hotel is smoke free, people still stood at […] the entrance smoking cigarettes, so you had to walk through a cloud of smoke before entering the hotel and since our room was on the first floor near the entrance, the smell of smoke in our room was quite strong. We chose this hotel because of the close proximity to Kennywood and downtown. There is nearby shopping, family restaurants and a movie theater that was all within walking distance. It was also not to far from downtown (~30min drive). The hotel also continental breakfast both hot and cold which was also a plus for us. If your are looking for a affordable, clean, comfortable place to stay that is located near Kennywood, I would definitely reocommend. Read more

The number one reason for booking was a pool and trying to explain to my child why there was not one was not only difficult but sad. The room as well as the entire hotel smelled like the inside of an ashtray. Liberal application of Febreze did nothing to decrease this. The air conditioner control could not be adjusted. The party in the hallway at three in the morning was also not appreciated. i checked out two days early.
