"Close to everything"
The rooms are small, yes, but really, who goes to NY and stays IN their room? What matter is that is nice and it's in the middle of it all, I walked everywhere. The shower is the BEST ever.Genuine Expedia guest review
Quality of staff service was great. Thank you, Elizabeth whom works at the front desk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice for the price in NYC"
I would put this at the bottom of the 4 star range for NYC. It was pretty barebones, but nice and clean and the staff was excellent.Genuine Expedia guest review
"convenient, but small"
very clean, but cramped. Hardly room to turn around in the bathroom. Also had an issue with the door - couldn't properly lock it and had to be moved to another room. Part of the locking mechanism was just missing. Not sure I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel... Not Perfect for Family of 4"
This is a great hotel! The staff was very helpful when asked. We were 4 in a Jr Suite which is a GREAT room, but the sleeper is not really big enough for two teens (my tween and a teen and they barely fit). Bathroom open space is huge, shower is WOW, but no vanity space. Would definitely stay again with 3 or fewer in room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great midtown option"
Right across from the Peninsula, the Shoreham is a great location and friendly/efficient service for a fraction of the price. Staff is accommodating and rooms are clean and comfortable. I'd recommend the Shoreham to anyone who wants a well-priced hotel without a lot of the overhhead of larger hotels.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Midtown hotel with lots of background noise"
I was given room 215 on the second floor directly above the bar. The room was noisy as you could hear the music from the bar below and also the disco next door. I complaint two days in a row because of the noise and the hotel staff were unwilling to move me. They turned the music off at the bar but still, you could hear the noise from the disco. It […] was tough to sleep through. I stayed 5 nights. The location is brilliant in mid town and is really accessible. Unfortunately you also have to pay per device for wi-fi which is a bit stupid given that wi-fi per device is already $15 a day. I do not think I would stay at this hotel again. This was our first trip to New York, and the Shoreham was kind of a stab in the dark, but what a pleasant surprise! The staff was wonderful, the location was perfect (walking distance to Times Square, Central Park, most Broadway theaters), and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. The only nitpick I have is not necessarily against the hotel, […] but if you have a "city view" room (we were in room 417 which overlooks 55th St) prepare for some noises from the many vehicles that go up and down that street at all hours of the night, and apparently like to back up a lot, as the beeping was what woke me up most mornings. Don't know if its possible to soundproof the windows any better, but other than that, a truly perfect stay in New York City! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The quality of service and the friendly staff made for a wonderful stay. The rooms are small and outdated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice room, right off 5th ave"
The staff was very nice, and helpful. Answered all my questions about the subway.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nothing particularly spectacular, though nothing bad. Room was perfectly comfortable with clean bathroom. My view was nonexistent and actually looked into the neighboring apartments, so privacy shades had to be drawn the whole time. I had to fight for free wifi (which I thought my hotels.com booking gave me) -- I feel like in this day and age no one […] should still be charging for wifi. Also, this is the first time I've noticed that a queen size bed is REALLY close to a full size bed, such that I feel no appreciable difference. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
They put us on the side of the hotel that never allowed us to interact with the staff. Location was great in the middle of everything, but next time we will spend the money to stay at one of the other larger hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good hotel for the price. Nothing overly awesome but not real bass eitherGenuine Expedia guest review

"Still a Great Place to Stay, but cutting costs"
I have stayed at the Shoreham a couple of times a year for the last five years or so. Its always been a great place to stay. Comfortable, great location, good service. A few signs management are managing costs more tightly - no champagne on arrival and no papers in the morning. Still a good place to stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"nice location..cursed air conditionning"
The hotel was very nice, rooms are big, showers with jets. the bathroom is a little small though particulary the space around the sink. My rate included free Wi-Fi which they did not confirm whe I checked-in they told me I had to pay extra $15 per day!! first room I had to change because the air conditioning unit was not working and it was making a […] lot of noise. Second room was as hot as a sauna - 90 degrees hot air impossible to breathe - and the air conditioning wouldn't lower or turn off even though I tried. I had to call engineering department to come and stop it. The problem is that once turned off, the freezing cold air from outside - 22 degrees - would come through the air conditioning unit, so they brought me a portable heater but that wasn't enough. I used pillow cases, pillow, iron board to prevent the air from coming in. first night I tried to accept that, but 2nd night was too cold, so I asked for a blanket at reception, the guy was very rude and it took 45mn for them to bring a rough disgusting blanket. So I called and asked for them to come and fix it while I was gone during the day. Coming back in the room, I find chocolates to bribe me and a letter saying that the air conditioning unit had been fixed, which obviously hadn't since my homemade anti-cold barrier made of pillow cases was still on the railings. I was very mad and called front desk, they sent someone again that confirmed that nothing had been done. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Staff was unhelpful and rude"

Faults ads "Include: free wireless Internet for all rooms" , It means the free Internet is at lobby only! That was very misleadingGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location and tucked away on a quiet street. Room was not huge but well equipped with nice TV and sound system and a massage chair even! Had a real shower room (no tub though). Nice toiletries (Aveda). Lobby had a bar and a cubby hole with nice (free) coffee machine. Street out front has several convenient dining options: Dig-Inn is a great value […] takeout. "Good location, dirty room"
My boyfriend & I were spending one night in NYC so we thought it would be romantic to get a suite. The pictures they have posted on expedia of the bathrooms are a joke. It seems as if your getting a good size bathroom with a tub that has jets. Nope- it was a person bathroom! Literally could only have one person standing in the bathroom at a time. The […] tub had hair all over it and by the time we noticed it, it was 1am and obviously housekeeping wouldn't be around. When I took a shower in the morning, the water was luke warm and had no pressure. The size of the room was nice and the bed was clean but there were spots (under end tables and in corners of the room) that had crumbs of food or dirt. As we were checking out, we decided to go grab some hot chocolate. We could hear two staff members in a back room (possibly the kitchen) arguing extremely loud over who's tables who's and customers. They were really going at each other. It was really ridiculous and made the hotel look trashy over all. To top it all off, we paid $320 for our suite and because they don't have parking, had to pay another $90 for parking. We will definitely be staying some where else next time. "A sub-par experience"
I chose this hotel because it is conveniently located off of 5th Avenue, and a fraction of the price of its neighboring hotels. The staff is friendly so I'll give the concierge 5 stars. The dingy and dirty elevator to my room is a glimpse of what I was about to expect. I am going to name a few things that bothered me. Some may seem menial, while others […] may be more important to you. I felt like I walked into a cloud of cigarette smoke. The stench of cigarette smoke was either saturated in the carpets, or coming through the vents. Either way, it was clearly apparent that someone had been smoking inside the hotel. The carpets (I don't know why they even have carpets) were dirty and stained. The toilet paper (sorry, I have to mention this) was cheap and thin. The bed was hard and the sheets were anything but soft....another cheap alternative. The bathrooms are not pleasant...The sink looked like it belonged in a prison bathroom. (Ok, maybe I am being dramatic) but the whole package was grim. On top of it all, the windows did not keep any noise level out - even on the 8th floor, I woke up several times to people yelling on the street level. With that being said, I would not book another night in this hotel, sadly. I wish for them to upgrade their sheets, add a pillow top on the mattress, take up their nasty carpets, and spend the extra dollar on nice toilet paper! (Ha, I love the last one....but c'mon, I know you readers know what I'm talking about). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Mid-Town Boutique Hotels"
Hotel is smack in the middle of Manhattan and I can't understand why it can not arrange to have a few hot items on their late night dining menu (even if only in the Winter). This makes no sense when I am in NYC, the city that has it all. Also, this hotel has always offered free wifi and now it does not, even if Hotels.Com web site said it was free. "Do Not Disturb Means Do Not Disturb"
Everything was great except the fact that I had the do not disturb sign on my door and they still went in my room. The manager of the cleaning staff, instead of just apologizing and assuring me it wouldn't happen again, tried to reason with me that they should clean the room, when I didn't want it. Other than that, their room service is really good, […] the gym is nice, the beds are totally comfy and it is in a great location. Walking distance to a lot. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nothing to write home about"
The room was very small and many broken things (was street side). Only a shower, no tub. It was clean, but attention to detail was not there, so the little things were just severely lacking. Bed and pillows were okay, but nothing to write home about. Staff was extremely nice, helpful, and professional however after storing bags, upon their return something […] (maybe shampoo?) had spilled on the outside of my luggage, and no attempt was made to clean it off or even to address it. I had to clean it once in my room with the washcloths present. While there was nothing glaringly wrong or bad, it just felt almost shabby. I wouldn't return for the price. "great mid-town location"
We had a nice stay at the Shoreham. Central location made it easy to walk to all things mid-town and up-town (Times Square, Central Park, shopping on 5th & Madison, The Met, etc). There's a subway and starbucks right around the corner when you're ready to grab a cup of coffee and venture downtown/Brooklyn. Rooms are small but comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worse service in a long while"
Room was not ready by 4:00 PM on check in day. We had to leave to downtown so just left our luggage at the concierge. When finally returned to use our room at 9PM, the room was very hot. Had to leave window open at night and since Manhattan never sleeps we didn't either... No accommodation from the Hotel. Even though the hotel could not accommodate […] us as requested, they did not offer a late check out. "I'd stay again."
We chose this hotel for price and location, and we were not disappointed. Staff very helpful and friendly. We did have a window that would not latch closed, however, making the room very cold. It was supposedly fixed once, but wasn't. Then they did fix it, and came to move our bags to another room per our request, but after knowing the window was latched […] closed, we stayed in the room. "Small hotel, but great area !"
Everything was close , that's why I like this area !!Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is located only steps from 5th Avenue but 55th Street (between 5th and 6th) is dirty and uninteresting. The hotel is trying too hard to be "cool" and lacks warmth and comfort (despite a massage chair in the room). The bathroom is in a "light cube" which provides little privacy. The Bose alarm and radio didn't work, there was no iron, the […] bed squeaked and I was interrupted from a nap by loud maid staff and someone claiming to want to "freshen the mini bar". On the plus side, the hotel provided free coffee in the morning and some limited breakfast items (for purchase). The bed was comfortable, the elevators were not crowded and valet service was helpful. This is a boutique hotel so don't expect anything glamorous. In fact don't expect a window. The room was very small and not well lit. The hotel was a lot like the hotel I stayed at last year in Londan, which was only 2 blocks away from the London Eye. So it's all about the location which is absolutely great - right off of 5 th ave and right between […] Rockefeller center and Central Park. "Great Weekend Stay in New York!"
My daughter and I went to new York to do some shopping and see a show and the Shoreham was perfect for us. They were extremely pet friendly, so we were even able to take our dog with us. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were visiting family in NYC over Thanksgiving when we stayed at the Shoreham. The staff was fantastic!!
