My family's stay at the Adagio was very comfortable. Our room was spacious and well appointed with views of the city and very little noise - we were on the fifteenth floor. Problems with a broken kettle and shower were dealt with efficiently even late at night. The Cortez restaurant served an imaginative and well balanced menu, whilst the breakfasts were freshly cooked and promptly served. We enjoyed a drink in the bar in the evening which had a real buzz, it's a good sign when local people drink and eat at a city hotel. The Adagio is a 5-10 minute walk to Powell St station and on to Union Square - we found it hard to find late at night and would recommend a taxi from the airport if carrying heavy cases. There were plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walk, and a useful drugstore round the corner. This was very good value for the price we paid. The Adagio is a well run and stylish establishment which really caters for its guests' needs.

I travel often and am quite familiar with the level of service a hotel should provide their guests. For the price I spent per night I was gravely disappointed with the lack of service and attention to detail this hotel staff offered. My overall impression of this hotel and staff was that they were ameteur and unknowing of service guests expect when chosing a place to lay their heads when away from home. They were unfriendly upon check in, cleaning service left dirty dishes in my room and did not replace used coffee mugs, they refused to valet my car due to "them not doing short term parking" even though i stayed there and after calling room service to order breakfast for over 45 minutes I gave up. This hotel has potential but has quite a ways to go before meeting basic service standards. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere!

Adagio was a great deal. They upgraded our room when we got there, so that was a very nice perk. I can't think of anything bad to say about the hotel, other than the neighborhood on one side was not the best. That said, it was a pretty good locale, centrally located and we got around all of SF without a problem.

If you don't mind a very small hotel room and bath, then you won't be disappointed. The exterior of the building boasts a beautiful facade, and the lobby/bar area is quite lovely and welcoming. The architectural details of the hotel do not disappoint. The location vis a vis Union Square and shopping is very convenitent. Hotel staff is terrific. That said, I would recommend it; but most likely would not stay in this area again unless business reasons demanded it.

Although the lobby of the hotel is modern and nicely done, the rooms are in need of renovation. The bedroom itself was small, but not bad; however, the bathrooms are pretty barebones and the towels are too worn, frayed, and some had holes. I don't really care about these kinds of things too much, but I was mostly UNimpressed with the service. I tried to get a glass of milk in the early evening (I'm pregnant) and after a long delay they delivered heavy cream to my room, saying that's all they had (despite the fact that milk is on the breakfast menu as a beverage). In addition, the hotel also offers the service of pre-ordering breakfast the night before, at a designated time. This is great for business travel when you have early morning meetings and want to get ready while you wait for breakfast. Unfortunately, the food was late and not that good at all, once it came. Overpriced as well. So, overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Just the night before I stayed at the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz, which is also part of the same chain. That hotel was nicer than this one.

The rooms were clean, neat and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was good, although a bit pricey - $14. There is no bar or dining area available, only room service. Parking is overpriced so we used the lot next door. My cousins paid for a suite and expected two room, but upon arrival they discovered it's a larger room with a sleep sofa. Overall, it's still a good value for a downtown SF hotel.

I have stayed at the Adagio many times over the last few years. It's a good option for those who don't want to spend top dollar, yet want a unique experience. Many aspects of the hotel are very charming, but some attention to certain details need greater attention (the bathtub could have used a good scrubbing and the shower head was pathetic). Overall, it was fine and I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to others.
