I incountered a number of issues from the standing water in the bathtub to the way they handled my requests for extra towels and pillows, wich were made ahead of time and confermed on my E-mail confirmation. There was also an issue of my phone not working. While these issues were remedied , all but the standing water in the tub , it took untill 8:00 […] pm to do so. I want to thank the general manager , Mr. Abraham Joseph for his assistance and his genuine concern and his resolving these issues so they would not reoccur. I would stay at The Channel Inn again . "Overnight stay"
From having read the previous guests' reviews I wasn't sure what to expect, but the price was right and especially for 1 night. The cleanliness was excellent and as good, if not better, than some high-end chains. The only complaint was the bed was a little too hard. I had reserved a room with a queen bed, but was given one with a king bed and sitting […] area. I would definitely stay at the Channel Inn again and would recommend it to others. The Pier 7 restaurant was also very nice and the food was fair. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great for couples."
Very pleased with my stay, however, very surprised and interrupted when house cleaning banged on my room door at 9am. Checkout was at 12 not 9am. That is my only complaint.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wednesday and Sunday nights jam band is fantastic!"
If your stay in DC happens to include a Wednesday or Sunday night, be sure to stay at the Channel Inn. The lounge features a house band with an "open mike." This is unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Top quality musicians and singers join Bubba and the band, one after the other, with a wide variety of entertaining music and fun. The camaraderie […] among all the musicians and the audience is fantastic. As an unsuspecting hotel guest, I was welcomed into a tight club of performers and friends, and had a very wonderful time! "Great location."
Older hotel but very clean, staff very helpful. Upgraded our room to one with an amazing view when we checked in. Parking included free, an important concern when staying in D.C. Hotel was located conviently to all points of interest. Will have no problem booking there again and would recommend the Channel Inn to anyone.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great price, location, happy staff, and restaurant"
I booked a room for my girlfriend and I to have a quick overnight stay as we were attending a Georgetown game. I must admit we were concerned about the cleanliness due to some of the reviews an the overall score. We had a great time! As soon as we checked in we stopped in at the bar and had a cocktail during happy hour, they were offering a complementary […] snack bar that was great after a long trip. That is is why we decided to have brunch there too. The bar and wait staff were very professional and they even let my girlfriend order breakfast after they stopped serving breakfast. I am happy to save a few bucks and stay in a room with well maintained classy older furniture and no mini fridge. We will be staying there again:) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"HORRIBLE"
LINEN WAS SOILED, ROOM WAS DUSTY, LAMP SHADES WERE RIPPED AND HORRIBLE, WE REQUESTED A ROOM BUT WERE LEFT WITH WHATEVER WAS LEFT WHEN WE ARRIVED. LOOKED LIKE A CONVERTED MOTEL.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, ok hotel."
Hotel is in need of renovations. The heater in our room was broken but the hotel staff promptly fixed it. Cleaning staff are keen to clean the rooms in the morning so unless you want to be woken up at 0830, put the do not disturb sign on the door!! Hotel was ok as a base to explore DC but not enough places close to eat in the winter.Genuine Expedia guest review

"I couldn't stay here"
I can't think of the last time I had to check out of a hotel because it was so bad. The room smelled hesvily of urine, the bed was like concrete with a sheet on it, and tge price of a drink at the bar was ridiculous.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The customer service agent was excellent but they do not have refrigerators availible ,i thought thats was weird.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"In the city but out of town"
Our stay was pleasent. Our four night stay was very quiet. The registration staff is very laid-back and try to be accommodating. The service staff (housekeeping) fun folks willing to make your stay a good experience. The only draw back was the second floor smell of the carpet in the room and hallway. But after a couple of hours you get use to it. Nice […] view of the Potomac River from the balcony. There is a fabulous restaurant and popular bar adjacent to the Inn. "Great family hotel for sightseers!"
Second time we have stayed in this hotel. Our family likes to walk to the attractions and sightsee. We have eaten in the nearby restaurants and shopped at the grocery store nearby. The staff was super friendly and helpful plus the room was clean and big for a family of four.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Awful mattress,no fridge or microwave in the room"
Location and view of the room was exellent. But compare to the other hotels that we stayed in over the country, upon on arrival and departure of the hotel could have been better (was not friendly). My wife still has a pinched nerve in her neck, due to the beat up mattress.NEEDS NEW MATTRESSES.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Awesome Location"
This Inn has an awesome location. It is on the water and only 7 blocks from the National Mall and the Memorials (Thomas, Martin, Roosevelt, Lincoln, and Wars). In addition, it has FREE parking!!! The restaurant food was delicious, too! The only down side is that it is an older place and could have been kept up better. However, the bed was clean and […] comfortable. So, overall it would suggest this Inn to someone who is not into high end hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's okay, depends on what you want."
I stay at the Channel Inn on a fairly regular basis. I have to say, the restaurant, Pier 7, is amazing. Haven't had a bad thing yet. The rooms, though, are more designed for someone like me, a business traveller who is NOT PICKY. A bed, a desk, and in the several times that I have stayed there, excellent wireless service. The bathrooms don't have the […] best fixtures in the world, I get that, but they aren't dirty. For the small percentage of runners out there, to go from the hotel, around the tidal basin (Jefferson Memorial area) and back to the hotel is just a little more than a 5K. The area is safe enough to run outside. Personally, I like this hotel and would stay there again. Rates are unbeatable. Oh, and there are more restaurants within a stones throw that I haven't eaten at, but as I passed by, they appeared to have good clientele. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stepping back into time...."
Even though the room and overall hotel was clean, the outdated decorations, old musty carpet smell, and somewhat lumpy mattress made everything seem like it wasn't. Hotel staff are quite nice though.Genuine Expedia guest review
"What a Find!"
Great little hotel on the water. Nice bar area with music on the weekends. Great value. Would definitely stay there again. Not a fancy hotel, but perfect for an overnight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Perfect for families, room very spacious. Brefkfast very reasonable. Heater didn't work but we just put more clothes on, we liked it colder anyways than Warm. Little ways to the national mall about 30 min walk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"rather pay more"
i sort of liked the 1970 vibe of the lobby and bar area...the restaurant closed at 8:30pm and the only other choice close by was a chinese restaurant down the st. -so we didnt eat. the room was underwhelming but seemed clean. the tv remote did not work, despite the tape around it:( . shower was great - but no lotion or coffee maker. the worse was having […] the maid walk in on me in the morning without knocking - i was not in a state to be seen by a stranger...i had to yell to her to shut the door. a bit traumatic for both of us probably. the other cleaning staff were yelling spanish in the hallway at 8:30am in front of doors w do not disturb signs. i dont think i will be back. "Just comfortable lodging. No more."
Most hotels I have stayed either have cofee maker or free cofee, this one had none. It was just comfortable and clean nothing more. There was no porter help or cart to carry your belongings. Btw my tv was not working either.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent location"
The hotel was ok but the location was superb, we were able to walk to the majority of the attractions. Overall decent budget hotel with good value for money and excellent location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad except for rude desk clerk"
I worked til late and was back in early the next morning and rather than drive an hour and a half and fight traffic I opted for this hotel which was 9 minutes from work. The desk clerk was extremely rude and the room smelled strongly of floral disinfectant, but for a place to get 7 hrs sleep it was worth the money. Didn't get the chance to try breakfast […] but other people told me it was good. The desk clerk had crumbs on his face from eating and complained he had only gotten my reservation 2 minutes before I arrived tho I had made it at least 40 minutes before. Said he only had 1 room left take it or leave it even though it was not king sized bed as requested. Parking underneath is a little scary and not well marked but it was free with room. "Best location to National Mall"
Clean albeit old and dated. Room size is big for the price. There's a Safeway near the Metro subway station ~10mins walk, so is very convenient to purchase any food/coffee (Starbucks inside) or amenities. Will stay here again if visiting DC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"My stay at the Channel Inn"
I enjoyed my stay at the Channel Inn. The location was great along the waterfront. Most of the major sites along the National Mall are within walking distance. There were a few restaurants nearby within walking distance, as well. The hotel also has its own restaurant. The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was clean and the wireless internet […] service worked great. The heating unit didn't work well the first night but they fixed it right away and it was not a problem for the remainder of my stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not a great hotel in the winter months"
We stayed there in November over Veterans Day weekend and the heat would not stay on in the room. Luckily, it was not that cold outside; however, at night some heat was needed. After my first complaint, they moved us to another room which was warm at first and then it was back to cold air coming out of the vent again. They would do nothing about it. […] I was told by someone in the restaurant area that the area is being renovated, and the hotel would not be there anymore. I would say they just don't care!! We had stayed there a year ago in the summer and it was fine. This was very disappointing! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful view and convenient location"
Channel Inn is located directly on the water front! I requested a water view room, 3rd floor, and the view was spectacular! Boats docked at the marina were right outside our balcony. It's right on the flight path of the coast guard helicopters, which led to a feeling of excitement of being in DC. We waved at each one in case it was the President! Walking […] distance to the Cantina Marina (excellent food), and Phillip's Crab House, made getting dinner by the hotel easy. The subway station is an easy 5 minute walk. The only challenges with this hotel were the pillows (bring your own), and lack of grabbing or making a good cup of coffee! Overall, an excellent value for the location!! "In walking distance to all must-see sights"
My college age daughter and I decided on a spontaneous trip. The hotel was fine for what we paid. It was in walking distance to all of the must-see sights. It is somewhat remote though so two females walking in the dark isn't recommended. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was great. Parking is free, the hotel is kind of old fashion and the bed […] was very hard (but for the price of the stay it was okay), no coffee maker in the room, and while at breakfast (in the cafe) the maid came in and took the towels, etc. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place to stay in D.C. on a budget."
The location and pricing for staying in D.C. was exactly what I was looking for. It was close to downtown and the mall. There's nothing fancy about the hotel, but I wasn't looking for that. The TV cable service was below par, but, again, that wasn't important to me. I did take in the cafe for breakfast, which was ok; and, I dined in the restaurant both […] nights of my stay. Unlike some other comments, I found the restaurant to be quite nice with an extensive menu and good food. I'll definitely check out availability for my next visit to D.C. "Bare Bones Room for a Budget"
The hotel was ok, but the heating/air unit had no thermostat so it constantly had to be adjusted. There was a nice balcony, but no chairs on it. There were vending machines for drinks, but none for snacks. The TV was probably the smallest I've seen in a hotel room, and the batteries for the remote control died during my stay. When I went to the front […] desk to get 2 new batteries (AAA) for the remote control, they did not have any and looked at me like it was the craziest thing that a remote would need new batteries. And, this is more of a personal preference, but there was neither complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning nor a small coffee pot with individual servings inside the room. This hotel gives you a clean, quiet, and comfortable place to sleep, but lacks most amenities. (other than wireless internet) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"lumpy bed; grumpy guest"
Don't pay too much for this run-down place. Bed was lumpy; housekeeping starts (loudly) at 8am; worst of all, there is no coffee maker in room, no free breakfast, and the nearest cafe is 3 DC blocks away (that's 6 for the rest of us). "Dirty Bath Tub"
I stayed at the Channel Inn for two nights on business. The room was old, but definitely tolerable--and they have Showtime. The bathtub looked very old, and I assumed that the discoloration was due to old age. Once I was in the shower, I realized that the bathtub was indeed old, but also FILTHY. I scraped a thick layer of bathtub filth off the the bottom […] with my foot. It was disgusting. If you can afford it, stay somewhere else. If you can't, make sure your bathtub is clean. The room was definitely retro in look. Worn, but comfortable enough. View of parking lot instead of river was disappointing, but o.k. The restaurant is really good. "A good value but you get what you pay for"
The hotel is in much need of a make over. It is only maybe 5 miles from the Mall but you cant walk it. For the price, it is a good value. It is just old and run down. I would probably stay there again because the alternative is 200 a night more to stay by the White House.Genuine Expedia guest review
