The room was nice, cool and clean. Down fall was there wasn't enough toilet tissue in the bathroom and the hot water wasn't running so maintainence man had to come at midnight to fix the hot water.Genuine Expedia guest review
"worst crowne experience ever!"
I've stayed at a few Crowne Plaza's before and NEVER have I had an experience like this one. Service-wise, they could care less if you are happy or not. It seemed almost like we were a nuisance. They seemed understaffed, there was always a line for the front desk and check-in was less than slow. Our t.v. was broken so we called down to have it fixed. […] An hour later it was still broken and we wanted to go out to have dinner. I drove my son to the front so he could go to the front desk and tell them it still hadn't been fixed. When we came back 4 hours later it still was not working and I had to call again. Finally, they sent someone. There was mold in the bathroom and I took pictures so I could upload them to review sites...it was a little patch or just limited to the shower. There was something sticky on the table. Yuck. The sheets looked clean and that's the nicest thing I have to say. I am highly disappointed and will be writing the central office. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Third Party Booking"
The Crown Plaza is a higher end hotel in Houston. Who knew that down a connecting hall away from the main hotel is a section at the back that was obviously another motel at one time. To get to the second floor of the connecting building you had to ride a tiny elevator that would only accommodate 2 people. The room was small and the carpet was dirty […] with holes in it. We paid $140 for the room and the bathroom had a dropped ceiling with mold in-between the tiles. We felt that we were stuck there because we were a "third party booking." Words used by man who checked us in at the desk. Not worth the money! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nurse from St Louis"
We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel the first night was very dissapointing because the bath tub was'nt draining I called the front desk and they promised to fix it first thing in the morning and they did but we opted to move in another room which they made it available right away. The room was nice and clean with a nice little balcony facing the swimming […] pool, what I love about this hotel is the location it's close to everything my husband I needed easy access to the hi way 610,288, 45 and 59 which we travelled all the time when we were there in Houston. I came in for a conference and the staff were absolutely wonderful! They did everything they could to help me get to my destination, even the shuttle driver was great. Rooms were very comfortable but some of the hotel needs updating. I recommend it overall.Genuine Expedia guest review
"This hotel is definitely not worth the price."
This hotel is not worth the price. The hotel is older and needs renovation. The door has a huge gap between it and the doorjamb and you could see the hallway when the door was closed. The curtains did not close, they only had sheer curtains that closed, but there was a chip clip use could use to pull the side curtains together. There was a fridge, but […] no microwave. The TV was a flat screen, but it was not in focus. The bathroom was very small. The beds were very uncomfortable with an obvious dip in the center. The air conditioner never cooled the room off and it's only April, not even hot for Texas yet. The room was clean, for it being an older room. I would not stay here again. "Great location, but older hotel :("
Overall the hotel was ok. I was disappointed in the front desk staff. She let me know that because I booked through Expedia, I would not get the medical rates. She also made it very clean that we would not be receiving the complementary breakfast either. I know she probably couldn't do anything about getting me a better hotel rate. I did think that […] it would have been nice if she would have given us the complementary breakfast anyway. I just wish she would have been a little more compassionate. She also would not look me in the eye for the rest of our stay. I heard the breakfast was bad, maybe she did me a favor. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to Houston Medical Center"
Comfortable beds. Older facility. Many items were showing their age - for example - you had to work magic to get the faucets working correctly. It is a workable place, but while it might get a 3 star amenity rating, it is more fairly compared to a 2 star.Genuine Expedia guest review
I thought the hotel room was in horrible condition. The a/c was broken, the hotel room was not worth the amount of money I paid! I will never stay their again. They need to offer 2 queen beds instead of 2 doubles. I could not sleep comfortable in a double.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, but older hotel in need of updates"
Front desk was great! The rest was understaffed! Nice bar, but 1 person working the whole area. Had to eat the breakfast buffet because lack of staff to take order. Never even asked for drink order, had to take what was on buffet. Rush job on housekeeping... hair left in the shower drain.... Yuck!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good Bargain hotel"
We stayed three nights at the hotel. The room was adequate for my daughter and me. we were in Houston to tour Rice University and the hotel is close by. That said, the hotel could use a face lift. It was clean but old. It is very quiet which was a plus and there was more than adequate parking. The beds were comfortable. Good selection of restaurants […] nearby which is a plus after a long day of tourning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Its all about the location. It was closer to the Houston rodeo (Reliant Stadium) than the parking lots - an easy walk. The king room was very roomy, very clean, very comfortable, and attractive. Yes, the ceiling in the bath room was low (a complaint I saw on another review). No, it wasn't a brand new hotel but the spark was still there. We stayed only […] one night in the main building (2nd floor) and were very pleased. It was a little pricey, but that's what you expect for the location, and the free parking made that feel better. "Disappointing hotel experience for a 3 1/2 star"
I've booked Expedia Unpublished rates several times, and normally I am ecstatic with the results. Whenever I am subsequently disappointed, it is invariably a Crowne Plaza. This chain has some serious consistency issues. This property rates no higher than a 2, though it was nominally a 3 1/2 star. The property is in serious need of renovation. The carpets […] look like they are 30 years old. The rooms have dinged up furniture. The layout is terrible. A suggestion: whenever a guest is a single person, don't put them in a room with 2 double beds. That's just ludicrous. The hotel wasn't full, but I suspect they relegate the 3rd party bookers to second class citizen. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Staff Super Helpful, Parking Nightmare"
The staff at the hotel was amazing!! The front desk lady allowed us to check in early and was very helpful. The parking situation was a nightmare though. I understand it is rodeo, but it felt like there were way more cars than people staying at the hotel. They also made us put a sticker on the windshield that had to be removed with a razor blade. Most […] hotels give placards and that would have been much preferred. Overall though the hotel was great! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Houston rodeo at Reliant stadium"
Very convenient to Reliant. I had a double room but was only allowed to park one car in the lot for free. They wanted $30 to park the other person in my party's car. The lot had lots of empty spaces that night. For the price I paid, I thought this was unreasonable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect for walking to events at Reliant Stadium"
Stayed here two nights during Rodeo. Perfect walking distance and no worries about parking. Hotel is older and in need of some maintenance (at least the back building closest to Reliant needs maintenance) but they were making active steps to fix it (they were re-carpeting the halls while we were there). For the price and proximity, you really can't […] beat it. The room was pretty clean, no major cleanliness complaints. However, again, it is showing age and needs a refresh. I will definatley be back here again for any Reliant shows and activities! Perfect to avoid driving after a day of parties! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"BUYER BEWARE - Very unpleasant experience"
The only pro to the Crowne Plaza is its close proximity to Reliant Park, a short 10 minute walk door to door. Everything else about this hotel is a DISASTER. Next time I will be staying elsewhere. - The hotel had a live band playing in the lobby at night that you could hear in your room through the paper thin walls. This went on until 1:30 AM…is this […] place supposed to be a night club or a hotel?? I spoke with the manager to see if they could play quieter and was given two options…wait it out until the band was done or pack up my stuff in the middle of the night and switch rooms. - We were fortunate to stay in one of the “renovated” rooms. I use the word renovated loosely because it was a budget renovation job. There were holes in the carpet down to the sub-flooring, the bathroom had a disgusting ceiling that was stained and crumbling, bathtub finish was flaking off, and the faucet was so cheap that it would probably snap off if you weren’t extremely gentle - Make sure you put up your Do Not Disturb sign before going to bed…housekeeping starts banging on doors at 8:00 AM. They keep you up late with the rock concert in the lobby and then wake you up early to clean your room... - The hotel lists free parking as an amenity, however during my stay they were selling parking spaces to Rodeo patrons, when we got back from dinner we could not find a parking spot. You would think they would make sure to keep enough spots for hotel guests…nope...Crowne Plaza management fail again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old, rundown, overpriced"
Don't be fooled by the big name, this hotel is a total disappointment. Old, rundown, poor service, tiny beat up rooms. Very loud road noise all night because it's right off freeway. Awful beds. "Going to Reliant? Definitely stay here!"
Reading some of the reviews initially made me worry, but the actual stay was excellent. The location is very easy to find as it is right on the corner of the highway. Online mapping put the walk from the hotel to Reliant at about 8 minutes, but it was much quicker and easier than that. The hotel staff (parking attendant, front desk, cleaning service) […] were all very friendly and helpful. We booked the Hotel for a stay during the Houston Rodeo because it was so close to the show grounds. It was expensive but we thought that it would be a nice hotel since it was the Crown Plaza. It was not worth the 700.00 (4 nights) we paid to stay there. We had to call maintenance every morning to plunge the toilet just so it would flush. We had not […] even used it and still needed it plunged. The beds were hard as a rock, the carpet was nasty and the TV remote didn't work. I have stayed in better places for a WHOLE lot less. Parking was really bad. We were in a big truck and had to park in the grass every night. The only up side was the bar. They did have a bar at the hotel and the drinks were really good, expensive but good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Full Service Hotel Across From Reliant Stadium"
Nice hotel, good restaurant and bar, right across the street from Reliant Stadium and the Houston Stock Show. Only criticism is that service throughout the hotel, from front desk to restaurant to bar....is very consistently slow. "disappointed with room even with early reservation"
Although I made very advanced reservations with the request of an interior door room, we were scheduled to be in an exterior door room. I had called the week of the reservation to confirm and was told all was ready for the interior door room. We were moved into another room, without a fuss but it was right next to an elevator. I wish I would have taken […] a picture of the door. It was not marked or painted the same as any other door. It was almost like it was a last minute type of room to fill. Not a room that had a reservation and a request over a month in advance. If I had no reservation or arrived very late, no problem. But, I checked in at the 3pm check-in time. The night desk staff was rude when we asked about the location of a vending machine. Very bad directions when we got them. We were guests not a bother. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Lobby is very Deceiving!"
We checked in and the lobby was very nice, the staff at the front desk were very friendly. Once we were given our room number and parking sticker, we were given directions on where to park. The door leading to the hotel said that it was a secure door and you would need a room key to enter, that didn't work, it was just unlocked for anyone to enter. […] Once we got to our room in the Gulf Shores building 3, the latch on our door looked like it had been replaced and not properly! There was wooden trim missing in the door frame which made the door not lock and when any other occupants shut or opened their door, ours would also move. The air did not cool the room off. The PAINT on the bathtub was peeling off while in the bath, the carpet was torn at all the edges. The reason we reserved this room was because it gave an option to have a roll away bed, since we have a 14 yr old son who does not like to share a bed with his sister! ;) Well upon checking in the staff advised us that they in fact do not offer roll away beds. After we made it to our room we called down to the front desk to ask for more blankets to make accomodations for our son, that was at 6 PM, come 8 PM we still have not received anything, so we call again, waited for another hour, still nothing, called again at 9 PM and waited another hour before we called a 4th time and they FINALLY delivered some extra blankets. Room was not even decent and customer service was ridiculous!!! I will be contacting the Company!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"I was impressed... In a bad way!"
I was looking for something close to Reliant Stadium & found this one. I used to be an intern at another Crowne Plaza & know how high their quality standard are, so I was like "Awesome"! However, this one is bad! It's old & getto. The facilities are scary & the waitresses in the restaurant are ridiculous! They don't have basic training, wear heavy jewelry […] & make up & fake nails. My husband ordered a wine bottle & the waitress brought it opened & literally asked "You want me to pour it or you wanna do it?" But, the food was actually good. I'm surprised that this hotel has the name Crowne Plaza. It's more of a Red Roof kinda place. It's only pro is location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel just to spend the night..."
I had trouble finding a hotel in Houston for one night. So I ended up here. I don't think I would stay Hera again... . If you want to only go to the stadium, this is your hotel.
