After reading the lukewarm (to put it mildly) reviews here, I was braced for the worst. I chose the hotel because it's location was convenient (connected to City Centre and Bellagio via tram) and the price was right. But I didn't expect much from the hotel itself. In fact, it was a very pleasant surprise. Clean, large room on the 31st floor overlooking the strip. Great and large selection of restaurants in all price ranges, including a food court for quick bites. All-in-all, the best deal I've found on the Strip.

It was not pleasant during our first two hours after checking in. They assigned us the wrong room: lower level, no strip view, smoking and 2 queen beds. We originally asked AND paid for a high level, strip view and king-sized, non-smoking room. When we went to ask for a room change, they gave us the, "sorry, we're all out of what you paid for rooms." Eventually, they moved us to another room with a king-sized bed, but it was gross... It smelled, bathroom toilet was leaking and someone left a present in the toilet. My husband and I did not give up... We were moved yet again to a higher level room, but it was still not with a strip view. We stayed there anyway and were moved for a 4th time next day.... What an inconvenience!!! After all... The next two nights were fairly good. It's a good thing the rest of the resort made up for their front desk service...

We decided to stay in Las Vegas fora night as we were traveling from Utah to California for the Thanksgiving weekend. We saw the prices of the hotel and decided it was a good buy. Overall I would have to say from the 1-5 scale provided, this hotel would be deserving of 1 star, and not like a shining star, but one of those stars you got in grade school when you put your toys away or colored in the lines. Upon arriving at the hotel property we opted for self parking only to find that the parking structure, of some 10+ levels, allowed only the second floor to be used by hotel guests and visitors. Upon asking the garage attendant of this, we were informed that the only other choice was valet... Upon circling the parking lot like vultures, we finally found our prey of a pitifully small parking space we proceeded to the lobby for check in. Checking was fairly smooth, even though no discernable queue was seen, making the process of actually making it to the counter a waiting game of luck, somewhat reminiscent of school children waiting to enter the dreaded double dutch jump rope. The room was fairly decent... But then... there was the bathroom... The shower was OK, to be expected... until after a minute when the tub started to fill up with water from the outdated Super Mario Bros. type plumbing as the shower turned into a bath with the slow draining pipes. Upon exiting the shower, it was noticed that the towels were dirty with smudges. Feels like I was camping... never getting clean! Leaving the hotel was pretty easy since the hotel location is fairly centered on the strip, also because of all the other drivers in the parking lot offering rides to your car so they can get your parking space. But again, returning to the hotel and finding a parking spot, especially during peak hours of Las Vegas nightlife proved difficult. After what seemed an eternity we decided to utilize the valet services, since there really isn't much of a choice. The valet drivers aren't to

When we arrived and headed to self parking, we discovered that the hotel only had one level for parking. As one could imagine, the parking situation was horrendous. We easily cirlcled the one level of parking for a good 30 minutes before snagging a spot. When we asked the attendant about parking, she confirmed that there was only the one level of parking, or the option to valet (which we did not have to shell out money for.) The room was pretty bland, with older looking decor, a plain bathroom and a tube TV. I guess the room did the trick for the price we paid, plus we only stayed a night. Registration was conveniently located at the bottom of the escalator from the parking lot, which was a plus since you're usually scouring the casino floors of other hotels, looking for registration.

Hotel rooms needed upgrading. Bedspread worn and somewhat tattered. Carpet in halls were stained. The lighting in the room was inadequate. No fan in bathroom. Public areas were ok. Restaurants in hotel were reasonably priced and the food was good. Food court could use some atmosphere! The blaring pop music was annoying and inappropriate for age group of clientèle which seemed to be middle aged or families with children. Staff was friendly. The additional facilities use fee of $10 for the gym and pool was excessive since the spa charged an additional $5 for use of wet areas. Few people used the gym since it was in the back of the spa and pool which was in the shade most of the time due to the new City Center building looming nearby. The website said there were tennis. The Monte Carlo is not the newest or most glamorous hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, but it is located on the Strip, has a relaxed casino (not as crowded as others) and during the week has some great deals. It is located at the southern end of the Strip, so getting to hotels and casinos in the northern part (e.g. the Venetian or Treasure Island) is quite a hike, but certainly doable. Overall nice hotel, would certainly stay there again.
