"smelled like poo"
the monte carlo service was horrific! i requested a strip view and was not given one... then when my room was moved the next day to accomodate our initial reservation there wasn't enough beds, not to mention our keys were not reset properly and we had to wait in the hall until the front desk was able to sort it out... overall the monte smelled terrible […] (think porter potty mixed with smoke). The beds were equally unsatisfying and uncomfortable. Only pro to the monte was its locatio on the strip (right across from MGM and beside NY NY). "Rooms need updated"
The stay at MC was uneventful. The rooms are showing wear which is understandable with the location being on the strip. There needs to be a grab bar for entering and exiting the tub. First time ever staying at the Monte Carlo in Vegas. It will also be the last time too. The room was outdated, but not a deal breaker. Husband used the shower and found that the tub wouldn't drain. While shaving the sink wouldn't drain either. Ewwwww! Then right in the middle of getting ready myself the bathroom lights shorted out! Not cool at all. […] The next morning we wanted to order room service. Apparently they haven't updated the menus in the room because we had an old one. By now I've had it with this place! I called the front desk to get moved into a different one. Ha! Fat chance on that. They sent up a maintenance guy instead. I don't like being in my pajamas hung over in Vegas in my room trying to relax with some creepy maintenance guy in there! He replaced the shower head instead of unclogging either drains! Not even close!!! The food arrived five min after the maintenance guy left. It was horrible food! Everything was cold and tasted bad. I had a blt, which is hard to screw up but it was terrible. The bacon was about 47 years old and cold as a clam. I paid $14.99 for that horrible BLT. All of our food came out to over $60 for a salad and sandwich and a bowl of soup. Not to mention the tip. We hardly ate anything because it was terrible. My advice to the Monte Carlo: -Make sure the rooms are ready before the customer checks in! Drains unclogged, no electrical problems, the drapes not falling off of the rod, do something about the smell in the rooms, etc. -Time for an update!!! The outside is beautiful. The hotel floors??? Not so much! The carpet is dirty, stained and old. No ice machines, no vending machines, boring old outdated decor. It's showing it's signs of age. -Does anybody ever win at the casino? My husband and I spent 2 nights for our anniversary in a Monaco suite. Having two bathrooms for two people felt sooo luxurious! The room was very clean and the bed was super comfy The only downside is that some of the furniture in this room is worn and needs replacing. The variety of dining options was the highlight for me. I was not impressed! Arrived at 7:00pm to find that their reservation system had been done for approximately 1/2 hour. Was simple told to try back in a couple of hours. I spent 2 days at Monte Carlo and then had to spend 2 days at Excalibur (dont ask). I have to say that I could hardly see or feel a difference other than Excalibur had more families. Spent a few HOURS with MC's "help desk" trying to get my internet connection working (as did a co-worker) only to have a maintenance person come up, push back the tv stand […] and reboot a modem hidden behind it. So glad we decided to stay at Monte Carlo!!! We were on 25th floor with strip view. Room was better than your average hotel although not as awesome as Mandalay Bay but it was clean and comfy. The room was very comfortable and clean. The strip view room wasn't much of a view. Look out the window and you see the casino's roof more than you see anything else off the strip. Also, they are building an arena next door at NYNY so there were Jackhammers and other construction noises at 7am. Spoke to front desk and they had our room changed to a […] pool view room. It was a beautiful view of the pools as well as the Aria and Mandarin hotels. No more construction noises either! They have a lazy river as well as a wave pool. Both were a lot of fun! The inner tubes were affordable to rent or you could purchase them for about the same price as renting. The one thing that bothered me about the Monte Carlo was the plumbing. The sinks in both rooms we stayed in had issues draining. They would drain, but would take a little longer than normal. The hotel is also attached to a tram station that will take you from Monte Carlo to the Aria to the Bellagio and back again. Overall, great hotel that is close to great dining, hotels, and shopping! The rooms were exceptionally clean.The service was exquisite!The TV remotes are high tech. Now I consider myself on the high side of the techy knowledge base but these new controllers took a painfully long learning curve. I got it down about the second evening. Maybe it was the frustrating battery not being able to be recharged. Once management changed […] the battery, it began to function fine...even very conveniently. The time to check-in and to check-out could not be improved. We didn't have to stand in line with the plebes downstairs at the main desk. That alone was worth the slightly higher prices. IT WAS WORTH IT especially when I saw the check-in line. It had to be 30 or 40 deep. That would have been an hour at least. We will definitely return. Ask for a free upgrade.
