We enjoyed our visit to song of the sea. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was nice ,but could have used some updating, as well as a small bathroom. The view was wonderful and the pool inviting. We enjoyed our breakfast on the outdoor patio. I would recommend this vacation spot

We just spent a week at the "Song of the Sea" and cannot say enough about the staff. Very friendly and accommodating - wonderful people!. Really enjoyed the continental breakfast every morning .... something for everyone but my favorite was the Belgian Waffles. A nice variety of bikes for anyone to use (free of charge - wow); which is great because […] the bike trails go on forever in every direction. The lounge chairs and umbrellas down on the beach were great for soaking up the sun, reading and people watching. We aren't big into shells but because they are everywhere, we brought some back for our Grandchildren and they were very excited to see the different shapes and colors. Lots of space in the rooms and a nice screened-in lanai to enjoy the ocean breezes. You hear about guests having to beg for towels .... not here. They made sure we had an abundance and they even provide towels for use at the pool and on the beach! This is such a relaxing place we will definitely return .... and hopefully for more than a week. Really, the hotel itself is small, very intimate and appealing. Our main issues had to do with comfort/conenience. We have stayed there numerous times and the staff has always been very pleasant and accomodating. However, for sonme reason we had trouble getting dish clothes, dish towels, wash clothes and hand towels. The duvet and pillows were down […] or down mix, which was a problem for me as I am allergic. Allergic people should request alternate bedding. The mattress was thin and most uncomfortable. The television seemed to have issues: the remote did not function properly (even after several visits by a very nice young man), we could not get even half the channels listed on the hotel's own printed list of channels, and the tv (flat screen and mounted to the wall# could not be angled restricting viewing to the bed only #you couldn't see for the glare#. If you want to spend most of your time on the beach, this is not a bad place to stay, nicely removated; but should bad weather restrict you to the room, you may be unhappy. A few small items like a dish drainer, a drying rack on the lanai for wet suits and towels, an exhaust fan in the bathroom, and #I know it sounds silly# but a soap dish for the bathroom sink #the soap gets all gooey and makes a terrible mess on the counter) would improve the hotel quite a bit. Our third stay at Song of The Sea. Our earlier visits had been pre hurricane Charlie 2004. The resort is older but still a good place to stay. The staff, especially Cheryl is awesome. We had a room that was near some mechanical noise which made sleeping tough. This was a ground floor which had quick access to the pool area. Continental breakfasts are lovely with cereal, yogurt, fruit. Coffee excellent. The availability of bikes for use add to the stay. The hotel tends to mis inform about certain amenities. We booked an ocean view room, the larger of the choices. In the photos it was a nice roomy space looking at the Gulf of Mexico. When we arrived our bedroom was in the back and was nothing but a king bed facing a wall with 2" of space to move around. We truly enjoyed ourselves. The only 2 things that weren't the best was the room had a really bad musty smell to it when we first got there and the floors could have been cleaner. Although ironing out the new reservation was aggravating and time consuming, expedia and song of sea staff did well settling the problem. Song of the sea, and its sister property Sanibel inn are not glitzy resort properties, but are absolutely wonderful. […] The low rise two and three story buildings are nestled near the beach front. the grounds are decorated with healthy plants indigenous to the area, well tended and lush. The staff was helpful, but not bothersome. The swimming pool was clean and well maintained. The on site beach was pristine. You had to practically beg to get coffee, the selection of breads and yogurt has seriously declined and overall, not what it used to be. Song of the Sea is a great stay for the money. The pool is a bit small, but you will end up spending most of the time on the beach. The beach is big, full of shells, and the ocean is very calm and warm! Sanibel is a very quiet island, and so is this hotel....We enjoyed it very much.

We enjoyed our stay at the Song of the Sea. No matter which room you get at this hotel the beach is nearby. Which is the main reason to stay here. Keep in mind that suites on the first floor have a door that leads out the back to the beach area. And top floor suites don't have this; instead they have an ocean view (depending on which side you stay on). […] The staff was always extra helpful in helping us find our way around and accommodated our needs to an excellent level. We had a king suite and it was the right amount of space. It includes a mini kitchen, complete with stove and cooking utensils, living room with sofa bed (with TV), separated bedroom (with another TV), and screened-in porch. I didn't think we needed that much room, but it proved to be useful since I go to bed a little earlier than my husband, who likes to stay up and watch TV. There's a decent complimentary breakfast offered here, and they include trays which allow you to take the food back to your room. The fresh squeezed OJ was the best. There were no eggs in the breakfast so we bought some in town and cooked it ourselves. Complimentary breakfast also has freshly made waffles. We also enjoyed walking over to the Seaside cafe at the neighboring hotel to eat. (Highly recommend the Crab Bisque if you're a crab lover.) Also, want to mention two things: 1)The rooms are not carpeted with good reason, we were tracking sand in and out constantly. 2) Beach chairs, sun umbrellas and bikes are provided by hotel. When we arrived early, Franckey (sp?) at the front desk was not able to get hold of the maids to see if our room was ready. He said he would check our room himself, and ran- not walked- to our room to check on it! […] Way to go the extra mile!!! The umbrellas and chairs on the beach were great, and the bikes were in good working condition, complete with baskets for easy shopping etc. if you don't have a car. A slow bike to the lighthouse was just enough coupled with a visit to Pinocchio's for some ice cream. Take a small collapsible cooler for the beach beverages. The restaurants we visited were OK. A little pricey but to be expected on an island. Much better seafood in NC. Went fishing in the flats and caught a lot of sea trout and red fish. Plan a guide months in advance because they get booked way in advance. If we return we will go in mid-March so we can take in some spring training baseball games. Read more

We've stayed at Song of the Sea twice - both times, it was exactly what we were looking for. We enjoy peace, quiet and a low-key experience - staff was easy to locate when we needed them, but for the most part, we felt as though we were on our own. The room was always clean and comfortable, and the tile floors are perfect for coming in from the beach/pool […] area, which was essentially right off our back porch. The rooms aren't huge, and the bathroom is downright small, so if a luxury stay is a must, this isn't for you. For us, the clean simplicity was exactly what we wanted, as we were much more focused on the beautiful location to spend much time indoors. Staff recommendations for dining and entertainment were spot-on, and between lounging and birdwatching (bring your binoculars) on the beach and dips in the pool/hot tub, it was the perfect spot to kick back and relax. There's lots of great dining on the island, and if you love birds, don't miss the Ding Darling nature preserve and Tarpon Bay kayaking tours, both of which were jam packed with great birding experiences. While the experience doesn't include staff bringing you fancy drinks by the pool and tons of amenities, if you value a quiet and relaxing spot to share with your partner, Song of the Sea gets the job done.
