"Great location but one of the stars is dimming"
The room was quite nice, but the airconditioner woke me out of a sound sleep whenever it kicked on. The staff was friendly and polite. The hotel is on a steep hill, which may be problamatic for some. The location is very good, a short walk to the center and about a 30-minute easy walk across town to the Prado museum. The hotel needs refurbishing, so […] I would recommend it only at a discounted price. I did not use any service other than the wake-up call, which was automated but still could only ring once, so don't oversleep! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Hotel in downtown Madrid"
Good service in Concierge, many comunications aroud the Hotel and good and clean rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
"nice hotel, great location"
The hotel is very elegant and in a great location. Just a few minute walk to the Royal Palace and all of the busy streets. The hotel is actually on a quiet street and is great for peaceful sleeping, except for the two beds pushed together for a "double".Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is an oldish hotel in a great location. Unfortunately that is where the good stops. The room I was in stunk and was noisey. The bed had no matresss cover and one stuck to the matress. The air conditioning sounded like a 747, cycling on and off. Oh yes the internet was weak and did not work in the room. I did not have breakfast because the deal […] doesn't give you a room with breakfast even though sometimes it is cheaper to get the same rate at the hotel with breakfast. Great Location. Size of the room is reasonable for European standards (old building) and a decent breakfast. You might have problems with the acustic isolation and hear people in the room next door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful classic stylish hotel with great location and breakfasts"
Everything was really wonderful. The hotel is immaculate and has beautiful, classic decor. Breakfasts had huge variety of excellent food. The location near Palace and old city was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, great location."
Within walking distrance of most sights or close to Prado area by near-by Metro. The charge of two euros for fifteen minutes of internet computer use is outrageous. But there are almost no internet cafes left. It was a comfortable hotel with rather elegant public rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Room!.. but .Receptionist not very helpful."
The room and hotel was very clean. The beds were comfortable and had nice linens. The room itself was very specious and modern. Great location to sites. Wireless internet was very fast. All in all the hotel experience was great. Except for the female receptionist was very rude and unhelpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old hotel, good location"
The location is great, it is closed to many points of interest. However, the hotel is old, so the AC is very loud. I asked for an iron and iron board, there is no such thing. You need to pay to get your cloths ironed. I asked to borrow a knife to cut my fruits in the room, they said it would cost me 5 Euro. If you don't mind the AC noise (can sleep […] through the noise), and not expect much extra service, then it's a very good hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Excellant location, for the Metro, with surrounding sights, sounds or just people watch, close by. Hotel bathroom looked a little tired, paint wise, but very spacious as well as the room. Staff was very helpful and the breakfast was great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, clean, quiet"
Fantastic location close to many sights, but on a quiet side street which is great if you can't sleep through the noise. We got a very good deal through Expedia and the room cost us less per night than the rates on the hotel website. One minute to Teatro Real, two minutes to Palacio Real, three minutes to Gran Via. 10-30 minutes to Prado, Puerta del […] Sol, Plaza Espana, etc. You can walk almost everywhere. Hotel is clean, safe, well managed. Lobby is very cute. Our standard room was pretty big with a window into the inner court - so it was very peaceful. Bathroom is very spacious with a tub, shower, toilet and bidet. AC and heat controls are in the room and both were working. TV had a decent selection of channels with one or two in English. Closet space, while a little strangely aranged, was plentiful. Room also had a mini fridge, safe, and an option of having music played in the room (forget what that is called). Staff was very helpful with maps, suggestions and advice. Negatives- two single beds pushed together is what qualified for a double bed. No ironing board /iron - only pant press. Room service was so-so.Hotel offers three options, two of which are restaurants located outside the hotel. Ordering food was problematic, esp since we had to call the outside restaurant which prompted a phone charge. Food was not great either. Plus no napkins or utencils were included. Overall - very good hotel in an excellent location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
For Hotel 4 Stars and we had in suite, not good, the bed bad, the furniture in general old the only good for us was the location, the principal is that people didnt have any information about shows .Genuine Expedia guest review
"Tryp Ambassador Review"
The hotel location is excellent, walking distance to most of the sightseeing places. The service was great, friendly people. The room was very comfortable and it had everything working right. The room was slightly looking old and might need some renovation though, but it doesn't affect me personally. Overall it's great hotel, I would recommend it.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was great. The staff was eager to serve. They remembered our room number, when we returned they had our key ready. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best is location"
A decent, very comfortable hotel, but in a really good location if you want to see old Madrid by foot. Good value overall given the cost versus the advantages of location.Genuine Expedia guest review
We could not control room temp.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I had an overnight layover in Madrid on our way home from a weeklong stay in Italy. We needed something easily accessible by public transportation, within walking distance of food and main attractions, yet comfortable before a long trip home. This hotel fullfilled our needs beautifully. We couldn't have asked for a better locale, tons […] of pedestrian traffic and tons of tapas. San Miguel Market, Plaza Mayor about 16 gorgeous churches and not enough time to do it all. We got just a small taste of Spain, and are hungry for more. When we return, I'd like to stay at the Tryp ammbassador again. My one complaint (very common in Europe so take it with a grain of salt) is that our queen bed was actually two twins pushed up next to eachother. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is on a tiny street close to many tourist attractions. When you walk in it smells beautiful and the rooms are really nice. It is a great hotel and I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The reason I chose this hotel is free wireless internet and location. The former sucks. I couldn't use the wireless internet service. Although they kept saying they are fixing, it wasn't fixed during my 5 day stay. they seem not to do their best to fix it. Just repeat saying.. Also their attitute against guests seems to be somewhat rude. All facilities […] are quite different from the photos. Only advantage to stay this hotel is good location. That's it. "Would love to go Back, Most Convenient Location"
Can't say enough about the hotel staff, front desk, breakfast staff, resaturant everyone was very professional very accomadating and very nice. In particular the main guy that runs the morning breakfast staff. We stayed at the TRYP Ambassador around 15 days. There were only two drawbacks to the stay but this is probably true of any hotel in the area. […] Madrid is a city that does not sleep or sleeps around 4 AM so there is always noise coming from the street. We were up on the 4th floor and the noise came in. The other issue is that the wireless internet has a very poor signal, at least where we were. We had two rooms on the 4th floor and the signal was very weak. We had to go downstairs by the lobby in order to get a good signal. Other than that everything else was just fine. Breakfast in the morning is great with a lot of options and absolutely everything is within walking distance of this hotel and in a location where noise has to be a lot less. I will most definately stay here again and will most definately recommend to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Service very good, Location Outstanding! but room is old and sick."
Tha AC conducts and curtains NEED to be cleaned. Became very congested while sleeping and became sick. The air in the room was heavy and dank even with both windows open. I would return to this hotel, only if i stayed in the more expensive Newer wing.Genuine Expedia guest review

Went to Madrid with my wife to this hotel. Truly my decision was based on the reviews. How bad point of reference!! The pillow... nasty, Is just one for 2 people, like a sausage The […] staff: so rude, once we ask for a taxi for the airport an they give the transport to other guests and almost miss the flight DO NOT go to this hotel. We had 6 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed the room. Quite large and very comfortable. Best of all it was an extremely quiet location even though very close to major sights. "Tryp Ambassador Madrid Spain"
This was a great location- one block from the Royal Palace and short walk to Plaza Mayor. They gave us the family room we requested which was comfortable for 3 or 4. "The Trypp in Madrid"
The hotel staff was very kind and helpful, despite our language barrier. The hotel's location is ideal. Close enough to the commotion to walk to easily, but far enough to not be loud at night. Across from hotel is a really nice cafe with good food and the metro stop is super-close. The rooms were cute and the mini balconies are nice. "Great Location; Nice Hotel"
This location is terrific for getting around Madrid either on foot or by Metro. It is convenient and in a great neighborhood. We enjoyed exploring, particularly via the pedestrian malls. Exceptional for the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Save your money"
The Room was not well insulated from the hall and other rooms and was quite noisy. The cleaners seemed considerably noisy, esp. at 8:30 in the morning. I booked this hotel (4-star) and not a one-star hotel so I could get a good night sleep, but that didn't happen. They also couldn't give me two keys for the room (they couldn't find the other one......), […] so that was inconvenient for us to say the least. "Two single gals on a shopping excursion"
My friend and I spent a 3-day weekend in Madrid to enjoy the food, museums and January sales. The hotel's location is perfect for tourists. It is close to San Miguel Mercado, Chueca and the Prado. Hotel staff was helpful and courteous. The hotel decor is a little worn and a little dowdy. Fortunately, the rooms are clean and very spacious. Our room […] had a sitting area and a mini-fridge to store a few breakfast items. The bed was a little too firm for my taste, but I slept like a rock. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good hotel close to all attractions"
The hotel is a bit outdated, but the rooms are spotless and the bed is very comfortable. The rooms facing the street can get quite a bit of noise, but not a night - the area is generally quiet, not much traffic passing by the front door. Very nice, fast Internet connection! The main and the only issue from our perspective was the lack of the electric […] tea kettle in the room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good Hotel Great Location"
We were on the first leg of a two week trip to Spain and started in Madrid at this hotel. It's a great location near the Opera, Plaza Major, and Gran Via. Great shopping and restaurants - especially the restaurant across the street (Cafe Minibar). The hotel is a little worn, but in otherwise good shape and the room was large and comfortable. The staff […] was friendly and helpful, but there was no in-room safe in our room, we had to keep valuables at the front desk. All-in-all a good hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable, quiet central location for city break"
When entering our room we discovered a half bottle of wine, two glasses and some rice crackers set out on a little table. We initially did not open the wine, fearing we may be charged mini bar prices. Upon enquiry at reception we were informed it was for my friend's birthday the following day. A lovely thought (despite there being no note to explain). The […] bathroom decor was a little tired with a terracotta coloured bathroom suite however there was a bidet and we were given two toothbrushes with small tubes of toothpaste, razor and foam and bath sponge. The room was spacious and the beds and bedding were the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The lounge/bar area was an attractive place to sit, including resident parrot, but the drinks were over-priced at 10 Euro per spirit. Our room was at the back of the hotel, those at the front may have been affected by the noise of the two bars opposite. We found it easy to walk to shops, restaurants, sights from the hotel. Our overall experience was such that we plan to repeat next year. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"not quite the same as website photos"
all in all the hotel was ok. but from the photos I was expecting something slightly better. the paint on our bathroom roof was flaking off, the lift was slighting dangerous and needs new sensors as our bags got stuck in them a few times. but we did get this hotel for a very cheap price so cant complain about that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel to explore center on Madrid. Location is perfect. It is close to everything. Rooms are big and very clean with all necessary amenities. Windows are old and you can hear every noise from outside. But it is historical building, so the windows are part of entertaining. Soundproofing between rooms is not great and A/C is noisy. We upgraded from […] standard to superior room and it was right move. We also booked daily breakfast in the hotel, but I would not recommend it if you stay more than two days here. It is expensive (14 Euros) and you MUST to book it for all your staying period. Otherwise it costs you 20 Euros per person. Thought the breakfast was good quality with good selection, you can have great breakfast just in 30 meters from hotel for half of price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location, walking distance to some of the main sights and nearby bus and metro stops make the wider city very accessible. Hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. However, the hotel it self is in need of an overhaul. The room I stayed in had no electrical outlet near the bed, only across the room, which made charging phone/ipad […] awkward. The wooden floors, while very aesthetically pleasing made the rooms very noisy especially if a neighbour is wearing high heels! The entrance/exit door to the rooms are really heavy and had no spring to assist in slow closing meaning that in spite of a small sticker advising patrons to close doors quietly, the whole floor knew when someone was coming or going which contributed to poor nights sleep. The bathroom needs a massive overhaul, fittings and sanitary wear are outdated. The safe in the room was placed in the wardrobe in such a place that it couldn't fit a 13" laptop in through the door. Like I stated from the outset, staff were excellent, food was good and location ideal, but if you want a quiet hotel, then perhaps this is not the best choice. Excellent location near Opera and Palacio Real. Didn't use restaurants or have breakfast as v expensive even with a 30 % discount on our special rate booking ie b/f would have cost 19.5 euros (30 full price). "Great location but a bit noisy at night!"
The best thing about the hotel is its location, right in the heart of the city. Everywhere is easy to get to, usually by walking, but there are plenty of Metro stations nearby as well. Some parts of the building are still awaiting renovation and these are not as impressive as the rest of the hotel. We were in a room that is still to be modernised and […] it had a major disadvantage in that there were no shutters on the windows. This was a real pain when late-night revellers were returning home! MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR A ROOM WITH SHUTTERS!! Most of them do seem to have them, I think we were just unlucky (we had a very good deal, so maybe we were given that room deliberately!) There may also be rooms that don't face out onto the street but they will probably be more expensive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
