Very nice staff, good location, clean, confortable beds and nice rooms. I would highly recomend and is walking distance to Opera metro.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location is only advantage"
On avarage everything was fine with some exceptions. Floor in the rooms is not covered with carpet, but wih laminated plastic. Therefore the floor is very cold in winter. Building is very old and rooms are not soundproofed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cloister combined with a palace: avoid the former"
The hotel is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde: one nice face coupled with an ugly one. The hotel combines what used to be a cloister and a former palace. We were initially assigned to the "cloister part": not surprisingly, room were tiny, ugly and uncomfortable. We had to complain and asked to be transferred to the "other" part of the building, and things […] changed dramatically. The "palace" portion of the building is elegant and spacious, if not luxurious. In the later part of our stay we enjoyed the experience, but beware with the building section you're assigned to! Location is great, with plenty of public transportation and within walking distance of shopping centers and museums. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Madrid in Dec"
Awesome location walking distance to Opera, el SOl and 3 Grand Via Metro Stops. Street is relatively quite, although the wood floors can be noisy during cleaning hours. I did not eat at the hotel, but there is a great and inexpensive cafe a few feet from the front door. We actually walked all the way back from the Prado, which I recommend as it goes […] through a number of cool squares and neighborhoods. We also arrived a 9 am and the hotel let us check in immediately which after an overnight flight or train ride was very nice. I think our booking said no WIFI, but WIFI at the Hotel is FREE and works well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The carpets in the upstairs halls need replacing. A hot pot for heating water in the room would be appreciated to make tea or coffee in the morningGenuine Expedia guest review
"Rooms are nice but the hotel is not quiet u can he"
Nice area the staff very polite and the hotel rooms nice. The down fall is the noise u can hear everything so if u have kids they prob wont fall asleep quickly. Breakfast was very goodGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable hotel with great location"
We had to have our initial room changed because one of the beds was uncomfortable but they changed our room immediately. Our second room was larger and very comfortable. The temperature controls were excellent and the temperature could be controlled very easily. We have had problems with other hotels in Spain being uncontrollably warm. We opted for […] their buffet breakfast which was horrible. When we told them this, they took the charge off the bill, which I thought was very nice of them. I wished that they had a better breakfast since it was a bit of trouble to go out to find breakfast. We met people in an area outside the lobby twice and it was very comfortable, quiet and had bar service. You cant beat this hotel for location. It is a few steps from the Teatro Real and not far from Puerto del Sol. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful location and large room"
We really enjoyed this Hotel. It was in a fantastic location, had a large room and a very comfortable bed. It is an old hotel with a lot of charm. Nice wooden floors.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel for young adults"
Not bad for a European hotel. Room was spotless, layout was good, bar was accessible, and the bathrooms were smallish, but very functional. My main complaints are twofold: the "queen" bed that we thought we were getting were actually two twin mattresses pushed together, so every time my wife and I tried to snuggle, one of us would fall through the crack […] that opened up in between us; and the window in our room was single pane and faced the front of the hotel, with two bars (outdoor seating) and a restaurant a short beer bottle's throw away. The noise at night, especially after 3:30 a.m. seemed to be amplified, and the only time at night during our weeklong stay that was quiet was between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
kind of shabby, bad mattresses. i would not give 4 stars to this hotel. If Hotel Ritz in Madrid is 5 stars, then TRYP Madrid Ambassador Hotel should be about 2.5 starsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"well located but not fancy"
Very nice and well located but the rooms are quite small.Genuine Expedia guest review
better than expectedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was clean and have good service; the neighborhood was not to good but was close to all must see sights of Madrid. Breakfast was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel with very large rooms, crisp linens and very clean bathroom. Very close to the Metro, a block away from the Palacio Real. The attention at the front desk amazing; very helpful. I love the little map they gave me(very useful); and the great recommendations for authentic Spanish cuisine without breaking the bank. But what I seem to enjoy the […] most was breakfast, right before you entered the dining hall you were greeted by a young woman with a very special smile that brighten your day.My suggestion is to include the breakfast with you your stay. They offer a huge selection of different kinds of food at the buffet, which means you can fill up as much as you can and walk it off through out an amazing city like Madrid. I would like to thank all the staff for making my stay as pleasant as possible. I truly recommend this hotel and looking forward to visit Madrid again and staying with you guys. Yours truly, A very happy traveler. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a 4-star hotel, and you won't sleep!"
This hotel is well-located but it was not worth the money at all. Any money. The rooms are EXTREMELY noisy, you hear neighbors talking and a noisy houskeeping cart going up and down the hallway pretty much all the time. The A/C sounds like a helicopter inside the room. Service was not good. Although clean, the rooms are have not well-maintained furniture, […] there are cracks on the walls, paint is chipped all over, all very old and not updated. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outdated decor, 70s bathroom!!"
Wouldn't stay here again. Hotel lobby was nice but the room was small for three and the bathroom disgusting. Lots of updating needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay in Madrid"
This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel mainly because is conveniently located, close to the old Madrid, subways, shopping areas, etc. The staff is very polite and the service is great. Breakfast (at an additional 12.5 euros p.p.) is fantastic. Though the hotel is an old building, is well kept and all services are in place.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel, GREAT location"
There is no way another hotel will be better located than this one in Madrid if you are going to walk around the historic center of Madrid. Minutes away from the Palace, the Cathedral, Puerta del Sol, Mercado San Miguel, etc. The rooms were clean and nice. A bit old the furniture but in great shape. The people on the front desk were so nice and they […] always wanted to make our stay great. The internet was sufficient to receive/send e-mails and connect iPad, Blackberry, and Laptop. "Great hotel stay in Madrid"
Great. It's convenient and close to everything. We can walk everywhere and get little stores to buy water and snacks. The room is small but comfy and quiet. The area is safe and easy to fine eateries. Can't ask for more.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Must stay hotel in Madrid"
The hotel is in a very great location, the staff are excellent and friendly, also very helpful. The breakfast is one of the best in a Madrid downtown hotel. The room was clean and OK, in general the hotel was a little old and the A/C was a little noisy but everything else was perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Madrid- convenient to Metro and all locations."
This hotel is in a great location. Convenient to take the Metro from the airport to the hotel. Walking distance to everything. Only drawback...noisy in the room in the morning. Heard lots of slamming doors and other noises in the hallways.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location, Nice atmosphere"
Hotel is ideally located in the heart of Madrid: 3 to 7 minutes from main historical sites of the city. Hotel carries a nice, warm atmosphere of the traditional classic hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nothing bad to say, it was perfect location, great service, very clean. I will go back in the same hotel next time I'll stay in Madrid.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel & great staff"
This is a fantastic hotel - ignore the threadbare carpet on the stairs and enjoy the hospitality, location and fantastic breakfasts. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a superior room - extra 15 Euros per day - which we accepted. This gave us a much larger room, tea/coffee making facilities, bath robes, etc. and was well worth […] the extra cost. From the hotel it is an easy walk to the Palace, the Opera, hop on/hop off bus stop and shopping areas. Also, there is a great bar located directly opposite the hotel entrance - elMiniBar - make sure you experience the best gin & tonic in Madrid! Highly recommended. "Good hotel for getting around."
Clean hotel, with excellant helpful staff. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but need an update.Genuine Expedia guest review
A ladies' long weekend was made perfect due to our stay in this lovely, elegant yet relaxed hotel. The location was super (best location I have been in and have been to Madrid several times) and within walking distance of all the places you would wish to visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even opening bottles of wine that we had bought […] to drink while we had a pre-dinner blether as we had forgotten to pack a corkscrew! We had a lovely experience overall. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Arrived early & staff were happy to let us check in early meaning we could drop off luggage & start enjoying Madrid. Receptionist was fantastic, helping us to know where places of interest were, shopping & finding location for purpose of our trip - the Fernando Alonso Exhibition. Bedroom itself was clean & had everything we needed. It was looking tired […] in places - the ceiling in the bathroom particularly, but given the price of the room I wasn't expecting 5*. Slight negative - our room was immediately adjacent to the lifts (2) which meant there was noise disturbance. I considered asking to move but decided I could live with it. By the end of the stay I didn't hear them anymore - glasses of Rioja had nothing to do with this lol. Breakfast was sumptuous & although we could have probably eaten for less in a cafe, it was convenient & extremely enjoyable. Hotel bar was also good & we were very surprised at how reasonable the prices were & comparable to bars & cafes outside. You'd never find them this reasonable in the UK. All in all a great stay & one I'd recommend. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The room was ok, had everything we needed. Unusually the TV wasn't in the bedroom, but not a problem. Breakfast was excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel was situated near metro and the city. No where was far. All in a good stay, we would visit again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic location in Madrid"
We stayed here from January 5-8, 2014. The location was great - very close to the Palace and major sites in the old part of the city. Our room was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
Payed £60 in January for the room. Properly the best value hotel I have ever stayed in, the room was very large, and comfortable. Hotel has a up market feel to it, impressive entrance and staircase. central location by the opera. Friendly and helpful staff. Only downsides for me was no tea making facility's, (but has 24 hour room service) and the colour […] of the bath room suite, a horrible red. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Christmas and New Year in Madrid."
The hotel was in an excellent location and the room was clean. However, the double bed was small. No tea or coffee making facility. The toilet paper was like sand paper, the cheap type. The room was small. The bedroom doors were heavy metal and made a terrible loud noise on closing, like that of a prison cell! The hotel bar was ultra expensive we were […] charged 30 Euros for three Ballantines whiskeys! My fiancée and I have stayed in various hotels in Madrid over last 3 years and I have to say this is the worst we have stayed in. You could hear the noise of a toilet flushing and running water from the room above. So overall not a very good hotel and no way can this be classed as 4star, its a 3star at best. We won't be staying here again even though it was in an excellent location and not the most expensive over our 10 day stay. It's just I expected a bit more than I hoped from this hotel. "Good hotel close to all attractions"
The hotel is a bit outdated, but the rooms are spotless and the bed is very comfortable. The rooms facing the street can get quite a bit of noise, but not a night - the area is generally quiet, not much traffic passing by the front door. Very nice, fast Internet connection! The main and the only issue from our perspective was the lack of the electric […] tea kettle in the room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

- Close to the Plazas Mayor and Espana - Very pleasant and helpful staff - Room very good and comfortable, but would have liked something bigger if staying longer - Very clean and well maintained - Some late night noise from street level despite being on the 4th floor - I wish hotels in this range would provide free water - Overall a very enjoyable […] stay Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Don't bother, stay elsewhere."
On first impression we were happy enough with our choice of hotel for the price that we had paid, we used the 40% discount secret deal with Expedia. The room was in the attic, although very large it was very hot and stuffy, the air con wasn't efficient enough to cope with the size of room. We were there in mid October, I suspect the heat in the room […] would be unbearable during the summer. The decor was very out dated and in need of complete refurbishment, the bathroom, although functional was the most awful colour I have ever seen! The main problem with this hotel was the staff, they were rude arrogant totally unhelpful, not good ambassadors for the Spanish to the tourist at all. The reception staff were completely inept and ignorant. We were told that the room hadn't been paid for even though it had. Eventually after 30 minutes of trying to check out the staff admitted that the room had actually been paid in full, no explanation or apology was forth coming, they just shrugged their shoulders and pulled faces at us. Outrageous! Do you self a favour stay elsewhere. There are plenty of lovely hotels in Madrid, all within easy walking distance of the main sights. Many of the hotels are actually cheaper this one and I suspect much better value and much friendlier. You have been warned. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
