TRYP Ambassador is a great value - location is excellent, very close to 2 Metro stops and within a few minutes walk of Plaza Mayor and other attractions. There are numerous cafes, restaurants, and bars within 10 minutes walk of the hotel. Staff is friendly and accomodating. Beds are just OK, but not too bad. Rooms differ greatly, some are much larger […] than others. There is a fair amount of noise from the surrounding streets, especially on weekends when everyone is out late at the cafes. You're likely to encounter this anywhere in Madrid though. Overall I definitely can recommend this hotel and would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great we had family room and spacious. Also great location. Corner opera house restaurant great for simple breakfastGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice place to stay, specilly because the location.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel had a lot of pluses. It was thankfully not right on the main drag, so that it wasn't too loud, and we could get to sleep at night without Madrid night life keeping us up. But the small quaint side street was easily accessible, quiet, clean and safe. The hotel was kind of boutique and unique. We went for a room with a double bed (avoid the […] 2 twin beds= king that is common in Europe.) The Juliet balcony onto the alley was lovely. The music speakered into the room was lovely, and the firm mattress and firm and ample pillows were heavenly and exactly what we needed after a long flight. Sleep like rocks. Breakfast buffet was ample, beautiful presentation, high qualify and good variety. Definitely worth the reserve in advance. This hotel is easily in access of several different neighborhoods-- Puerto del Sol was one of our favorite. Callao is also nice. The palace is worth a romantic stroll by both during day and night. We enjoyed the European feel and location of the hotel. Was close to a lot of sites but not on a main road. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good value!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location is only advantage"
On avarage everything was fine with some exceptions. Floor in the rooms is not covered with carpet, but wih laminated plastic. Therefore the floor is very cold in winter. Building is very old and rooms are not soundproofed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cloister combined with a palace: avoid the former"
The hotel is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde: one nice face coupled with an ugly one. The hotel combines what used to be a cloister and a former palace. We were initially assigned to the "cloister part": not surprisingly, room were tiny, ugly and uncomfortable. We had to complain and asked to be transferred to the "other" part of the building, and things […] changed dramatically. The "palace" portion of the building is elegant and spacious, if not luxurious. In the later part of our stay we enjoyed the experience, but beware with the building section you're assigned to! Location is great, with plenty of public transportation and within walking distance of shopping centers and museums. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Madrid in Dec"
Awesome location walking distance to Opera, el SOl and 3 Grand Via Metro Stops. Street is relatively quite, although the wood floors can be noisy during cleaning hours. I did not eat at the hotel, but there is a great and inexpensive cafe a few feet from the front door. We actually walked all the way back from the Prado, which I recommend as it goes […] through a number of cool squares and neighborhoods. We also arrived a 9 am and the hotel let us check in immediately which after an overnight flight or train ride was very nice. I think our booking said no WIFI, but WIFI at the Hotel is FREE and works well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The carpets in the upstairs halls need replacing. A hot pot for heating water in the room would be appreciated to make tea or coffee in the morningGenuine Expedia guest review
"Rooms are nice but the hotel is not quiet u can he"

"Comfortable hotel with great location"
We had to have our initial room changed because one of the beds was uncomfortable but they changed our room immediately. Our second room was larger and very comfortable. The temperature controls were excellent and the temperature could be controlled very easily. We have had problems with other hotels in Spain being uncontrollably warm. We opted for […] their buffet breakfast which was horrible. When we told them this, they took the charge off the bill, which I thought was very nice of them. I wished that they had a better breakfast since it was a bit of trouble to go out to find breakfast. We met people in an area outside the lobby twice and it was very comfortable, quiet and had bar service. You cant beat this hotel for location. It is a few steps from the Teatro Real and not far from Puerto del Sol. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful location and large room"
We really enjoyed this Hotel. It was in a fantastic location, had a large room and a very comfortable bed. It is an old hotel with a lot of charm. Nice wooden floors.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel for young adults"
Not bad for a European hotel. Room was spotless, layout was good, bar was accessible, and the bathrooms were smallish, but very functional. My main complaints are twofold: the "queen" bed that we thought we were getting were actually two twin mattresses pushed together, so every time my wife and I tried to snuggle, one of us would fall through the crack […] that opened up in between us; and the window in our room was single pane and faced the front of the hotel, with two bars (outdoor seating) and a restaurant a short beer bottle's throw away. The noise at night, especially after 3:30 a.m. seemed to be amplified, and the only time at night during our weeklong stay that was quiet was between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
kind of shabby, bad mattresses. i would not give 4 stars to this hotel. If Hotel Ritz in Madrid is 5 stars, then TRYP Madrid Ambassador Hotel should be about 2.5 starsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"well located but not fancy"
Very nice and well located but the rooms are quite small.Genuine Expedia guest review
better than expectedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was clean and have good service; the neighborhood was not to good but was close to all must see sights of Madrid. Breakfast was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel with very large rooms, crisp linens and very clean bathroom. Very close to the Metro, a block away from the Palacio Real. The attention at the front desk amazing; very helpful. I love the little map they gave me(very useful); and the great recommendations for authentic Spanish cuisine without breaking the bank. But what I seem to enjoy the […] most was breakfast, right before you entered the dining hall you were greeted by a young woman with a very special smile that brighten your day.My suggestion is to include the breakfast with you your stay. They offer a huge selection of different kinds of food at the buffet, which means you can fill up as much as you can and walk it off through out an amazing city like Madrid. I would like to thank all the staff for making my stay as pleasant as possible. I truly recommend this hotel and looking forward to visit Madrid again and staying with you guys. Yours truly, A very happy traveler. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a 4-star hotel, and you won't sleep!"
This hotel is well-located but it was not worth the money at all. Any money. The rooms are EXTREMELY noisy, you hear neighbors talking and a noisy houskeeping cart going up and down the hallway pretty much all the time. The A/C sounds like a helicopter inside the room. Service was not good. Although clean, the rooms are have not well-maintained furniture, […] there are cracks on the walls, paint is chipped all over, all very old and not updated. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outdated decor, 70s bathroom!!"
Wouldn't stay here again. Hotel lobby was nice but the room was small for three and the bathroom disgusting. Lots of updating needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay in Madrid"
This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel mainly because is conveniently located, close to the old Madrid, subways, shopping areas, etc. The staff is very polite and the service is great. Breakfast (at an additional 12.5 euros p.p.) is fantastic. Though the hotel is an old building, is well kept and all services are in place.Genuine Expedia guest review
Comfortable, clean, close to main attractionsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A very old hotel. Nice things about it: free internet, parking available (at about 17 eur per day).Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel, GREAT location"
There is no way another hotel will be better located than this one in Madrid if you are going to walk around the historic center of Madrid. Minutes away from the Palace, the Cathedral, Puerta del Sol, Mercado San Miguel, etc. The rooms were clean and nice. A bit old the furniture but in great shape. The people on the front desk were so nice and they […] always wanted to make our stay great. The internet was sufficient to receive/send e-mails and connect iPad, Blackberry, and Laptop. Not super fast, but decent. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel stay in Madrid"
Great. It's convenient and close to everything. We can walk everywhere and get little stores to buy water and snacks. The room is small but comfy and quiet. The area is safe and easy to fine eateries. Can't ask for more.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Must stay hotel in Madrid"
The hotel is in a very great location, the staff are excellent and friendly, also very helpful. The breakfast is one of the best in a Madrid downtown hotel. The room was clean and OK, in general the hotel was a little old and the A/C was a little noisy but everything else was perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very nice hotel, excellent location in the heart of Madrid. Great breakfast. Close distance of all the main touristic sites on the centre. The downfall, hot in October but no aircon except for staff areas. 4stars and no aircon? and stayed off. Hot and too noisy to open windows. Only when we prepared to walk out did we get a quiet cooler room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is in a great location, it's clean and the rooms are very large with nice hardwood floors. However, everything is a bit on the old side and bathrooms definitely need updating. The hallway carpets are totally threadbare. Breakfast buffet was good and reception staff helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel within easy walking distance of most the city, and good cafés.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Badly functioning air conditioning"
The air conditioning was too noisy to use so we had no airconditioning and the room was very noisy. This was supposed to be an upgrade - the room however was quite pleasant although the bathroom was tired, as were the public areas. The staff were helpful and friendly although they had no ability to provide a discount to account for the fact they'd offered […] us the upgraded room at an upgraded price. Ultimately disappointing - was was my experience of Expedia. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location - lovely hotel"
A wonderful long weekend spent in Madrid. Plenty to see and do. Metro very easy and cheap to use. Great football experience at the Santiago Bernabau Stadium. Segway experience is a wonderful way to see the sights. Food market is amazing. Such a selection of cooked food and drink!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, Nice atmosphere"
Hotel is ideally located in the heart of Madrid: 3 to 7 minutes from main historical sites of the city. Hotel carries a nice, warm atmosphere of the traditional classic hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nothing bad to say, it was perfect location, great service, very clean. I will go back in the same hotel next time I'll stay in Madrid.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Totally city centre!"
Great hotel, great location. Not such a great location if you have driven. Parking 30€ a day.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely hotel within walking distance of so much!"
Overall the hotel was excellent - Only issues were that the bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned properly on arrival and we booked a Double Room but had 2 single beds pushed together instead. Other than this it was excellent and very well located in the City with minimal noise outside even with the balcony doors open.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic place to stay in Madrid"
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel during the Easter holiday. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast is fantastic! It is easy to get to all the main tourist attractions by foot from the TRYP.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good for Central Madrid"
Traditional old hotel with lovely atmosphere. Could walk to all tourists attractions.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel & great staff"
This is a fantastic hotel - ignore the threadbare carpet on the stairs and enjoy the hospitality, location and fantastic breakfasts. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a superior room - extra 15 Euros per day - which we accepted. This gave us a much larger room, tea/coffee making facilities, bath robes, etc. and was well worth […] the extra cost. From the hotel it is an easy walk to the Palace, the Opera, hop on/hop off bus stop and shopping areas. Also, there is a great bar located directly opposite the hotel entrance - elMiniBar - make sure you experience the best gin & tonic in Madrid! Highly recommended. A ladies' long weekend was made perfect due to our stay in this lovely, elegant yet relaxed hotel. The location was super (best location I have been in and have been to Madrid several times) and within walking distance of all the places you would wish to visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even opening bottles of wine that we had bought […] to drink while we had a pre-dinner blether as we had forgotten to pack a corkscrew!
