Holiday Inn Express - Harrisburg East - Harrisburg

When I travel to the Harrisburg area from now on this is where I'll be staying after 2 other hotels in the area came up short. I have a freshman at Penn State so I'll be back there occasionally.

My stay was satisfactory- not the best, not the worst. My parents, however, were in room 101. That has to be the very worst room in the place. If you are assigned to room 101, please ask to be moved. It is right next to an exit, the gym, and the vending area. One man even tried to enter my parents room thinking it was the exit. Very noisy!

The hotel was situated in a great location (restaurants, stores, etc.) and really easy to get to. The hotel isn't too big, and was really quiet (a plus). The staff were all friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

The hotel was good, clean and no big complaints except the breakfast was only mediocre. Kids were looking for waffle maker or pancakes, but settled for cereal and toast. Eggs and such were 'heat and serve' which lacked heating at times (cold insides). But the conveinince of not running out for food was great! Hershey is about 20 minutes away.

The hotel was clean and conveniently located 8 miles from the amusement park. The surrounding area was safe and gave us options for gas, eating and shopping if needed. We were looking for a moderately priced hotel, breakfast included so we could eat quick, get to the park and not break the bank. Disappointing A non-smoking room was wanted, however the mattress and sheets were covered in the smoke. Coming from a smoke free state and environment it was dreadful to have to sleep in it all night.

Every time we go to Hershey Park, we stay at this hotel. It's close, it's clean, it has breakfast, my kids and husband enjoy it, and it's right off of I - 83. The only improvements needed in the room were a bathroom vent and replacement of bathroom lightbulbs. (Our room didn't have a bathroom vent, so every time we took showers, it was very humid.)

Express everything, Especially the cleaning. I don't remember the last time I saw carpets that filthy. The hallways were as bad as the room. There was even a crushed cookie beside the bed. My stay was most enjoyful. The room was very clean. It was close to places to eat & a shopping center. I had one problem the first night. The bathtub drain was clogged. Once my daughter took her shower, the water was standing ankle deep. I had to take my shower in my son's room. The elevator (only one) was out of order when we checked in. Had to make two trips up to the 5th floor to get everything in. The elevator was fixed by the next morning. Overall a very pleasant experience. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Right off the interstate in Harrisburg and was very convenient for a quick stop off during our travels. Very new hotel. Rooms were great, breakfast was solid with a little more choice than the average hotel breakfast bar. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Great location when traveling through the state. Just off the expressway. Clean, comfortable bed, good pillows, quiet. The neighborhood has a number of good chain and locally owned eating establishments. We ate at Mulligans and had great pulled pork barbeque.

My room key did not work when I went to my room and the attendant quickly corrected that. The room was well kept and there was a refridgetor in the room. The free breakfast in the morning was great but the employee at that time did not appear to enjoy this part of his job especially when you came close to closing. The 2nd day they ran out of food 45 […] mins to closing, I did not understand that. A smile works wonders. One thing I did not know is they allow dogs in the hotel. My daughter is scared of dogs and it would have been nice to know that. Also are there specific rooms for dogs or any room could become a dog room. I know they keep the place clean but I would prefer not all room be allowed for animals. The elevator also may need a little service, it scared us on a couple of occasions. The Holiday Inn Express, 4201 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg, PA. Adequate at the price-point that we paid as a base to see Hershey Park and other attractions in the neighborhood. It's not a resort hotel, but if you've checked out the prices and location that should be obvious The Good: 1. Price 2. Clean enough - no bed bugs; no obvious dirt or filth […] in room or bath; maid service seems to do their job well enough. 3. Towels/wash cloths replaced each day (stayed 2 days) 4. Beds pretty comfortable 5. Continental breakfast is pretty good: 4 kinds of cereal, scrambled eggs, omelett, bagels, pancakes, fruit,... 6. Complimentary wi-fi (not blindingly fast but on-par w/ DSL) 7. 8 miles from Hershey Park 8. Oudoor pool... big enough for kids and clean 9. Decent fitness room and equipment 10. Secure card/key entry to the building and rooms 11. Big flat-screen TV 12. Refrigerator in room 13. Elevator (nice if you are on the 4th or higher floor and have a lot of luggage or small kids) 14. Vending machines on the floor (with pretty good prices actually) The Areas for Improvement (but hey, its not a resort and so for the price most of these are not really that significant): 1. Decor a bit outdated (not too bad but a face lift at some point might be nice) 2. Have to go to the lobby to get ice (well, that is a little more than a bit annoying) 3. Bar soap in the bathroom (soft soap would be really nice and probably less mess for the patrons and maid service) 4. Bathroom fan turns on by light switch - annoying when all you want is the light.. especially when the fan sounds like two of the four engines on a C-130 Hercules are out-of-sync with one another) 5. Before we arrived this hotel or more like a motel?? I guess we were too rely on customer's rating and photos, the hotel was not impressed at all and overpriced! The room was just ok( at least cleaned)but interior color was kind of dark, somehow felt down by its decoration, the drawer knobs were missing and computer desk had scratchs all over, the bathroom […] was very small can only fit one adult while another needed to squeeze thru a big, heavy door hard to close and open from the standing area,toilet was leaking too. The hotel hallway was dark and creepy.. This hotel only had one small elevator only can fit no more than couple big size adults and if you have someone wait in fornt with lugguage cart that would occupied the whole elevator, had to wait for next turn( most of time we took stairway).The breakfast area was another horrifying scene... tiny room with a long line, not many choice, waited long time for the scrambled egg and susage pattie re-fill, grab them fast before they ran out again, the apple/orange juices were so watery, coffee too,very limited seats.. t I undestand it was Memorial Day Weekend that hotel was packed with tourist, but the they should have had all this prepared instead of hotel staffs kept saying sorry over and over again.
