Actually a great location- near Southern Cross Station, perfect for airport transfers and next to free city rail service. Great location near the CBD. When I checked in I went to the restaurant. The staff were extremely rude and untrained. The carpet in the restaurant was filthy dirty with huge stains the size of a cow. It looked like it had not been cleaned in decades. The front desk staff was good except for one girl who was very rude and counterproductive to my needs. Im from out of the country […] so I asked if anyone knew of a restaurant that was good and open at 9:30 pm. She said there were no restaurants open after 10 pm in Melbourne which we all know is just a lie. I asked one of the male front desk staff about the casino only 1.5 blocks away if they had a restaurant and they had 10 +. I walked over to the restaurant and had a choice of 100 different foods. I was leaving and had a package to be mailed and one of the young men at the front desk handled it for me. The shower was a terrible experience. Great front desk staff. Friendly and helpful. Prices in bar and restaurant and bar are outrageous, but It's Australia. Location near the corner of Finders and Spenser puts you in the grunge zone. Easy to reach the convention center and free city circle tram line.

I have had much larger rooms in Hong Kong and Tokyo, this one was so small that I could not even use the desk, unless I turned the chair sideways. Cracked sink, could have used a bathroom makeover. It is super conveniently located and clean, but I expected more for the price (then again, I am realizing how poor Americans are abroad now anywhere).

As far as Holidays Inns go this one is overpriced. The breakfast does not include many choices. The rooms are old and in need of repair. Location is good for the Opera and Bridge but a Darling Harbour location would make for a better choice for business or pleasure. Internet is not free and is expensive.

Location is not as convenient. It takes about 20 mins to walk to the main shopping area (bourke street, swanston street ). Should have topped up for Westin or Grand Hyatt, which is located in the heart of Central Melbourne. Found biscuit wrappers in the shelf, and it took the room service 2-3 days to clear it. Toiletries provided are of bare minimum, […] with little or no top ups by the room service. There are no initiatives as we had to leave a note everyday detailing what to top up etc. In short, location is lousy, and i don't understand why all previous reviews rave on its location. The walk to and fro the city area to hotel was agonising and boring. It doesn't make sense to buy the tram tickets to the city centre, as they can be costly. need to upgrade the room or describe it for one person only. No space to walk without bumping into furniture or luggage. The plumbing noise was constant. The standard of the fixtures poor. Previous visits to this hotel we stayed in more updated rooms which were most satisfactory.

Great location which is near the Melbourne Convention Centre and stretch of restaurants at Southbank and the Crown Casino. Room was simple and clean with very comfortable beds. Thanks to the hotel staff for not moving me from my twin share room after I decided to extend my trip for a personal/leisure although I requested for a single room.

This hotel is in a great location but it leaves a lot to be desired. Our room had a terrible smell that didn't disappear the whole time we were there. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom and the moisture can not escape. The room, therefore, always smelt musty and damp. We ate in the restaurant one night which had very slow service but the food was […] good when it did arrive. On the other hand, the room service ordered the following night was not very good at all. The pad thai, described in the menu as containing fresh asian greens, did not contain anything green at all. Very impressed with the room. Conveniently located. 1 minute walk to Southern Cross station. Staff service could be better, but wasn't terrible. Pity about the removal of the mini-bar. Fridge remains but it's empty and no snacks. There is however a 711 just down the road.

Arrived at 11am and both rooms were ready.The hotel is very clean and very nice staff.Located very close to Southern Cross station ( less than a 5 minute walk),The Casino,Tram,CBD are all very close.All in walking distance.The room was very clean and smelled very fresh.There was choice of pillows(Soft or Firm).Would love to stay here again.

We had a lovely stay. The service was excellent and i would recommend anyone to go there. We will go back again. Very central to wonder around the city. The room was a perfect size and the bed had gorgeous linen. Everything was very well presented. Valet parking. Lovely food as well. Overall experience 10 out of 10!
