"Mediocre at best."
Traveled to SF for a four day national meeting and first time staying at the Parc 55. After the standard delays in getting into SFO and arriving to registration at 2am, I was informed my room was not ready. Yes, for a 2am check in on the night I was supposed to arrive. Instead of the king room I had requested for 400/night (ripoff), they dumped me in […] a 2 x double bed room, which I accepted due to my sheer exhaustion. The room smelled musky (in spite of the no-smoking signs everywhere). Half the cable channels did not work. If you want coffee from the lobby, get ready to pay extra, as it is only offered if you purchased the "breakfast option" with your room. The hotel bar was solid, and they make the drinks almost too stiff. Location was reasonable, right near union square. Ditched my last night there and stayed at the W, for a real experience. I stayed here during the Nike Women's Half Marathon weekend. It's a great location in terms of being very close walking distance to the start line, as well as, all the downtown shopping. Valet parking is expensive, but nothing unusual compared to other SF hotels. We had a room with a double bed and the room felt decently roomy. Beds are horribly hard […] and it was difficult to get the room at a comfortable temperature. Our room was also facing a direction where we could hear all the commotion going on in the streets. Luckily, they did include some earbuds in the bathroom for light sleeps like me. We asked for a late checkout since we would need to rush back from the finish line and hopefully take a shower before leaving, but were only able to get an extra 30 min. Luckily, it was just enough time, but usually this isn't a big deal at other hotels. Overall, I don't think I will return to this hotel mainly because of the hard bed, which caused me to barely get any sleep before the run. Although I give the hotel overall a 3, the room was quite large and comfy. Clean overall but smelled musty. The service in the cafe area for breakfast was rude and so expensive for what we got. "Fail on connecting the rooms! but still comfy"
I bit disappointed that we did not get connecting rooms when this was the main reason i booked this hotel. I even called in house reservations a week before to ensure connecting rooms and I also called the morning of at 8AM as they mentioned this is when they do room assignments. Regardless of my effort...we still didnt get connecting rooms! Super disappointed.... Neighborhood […] -- nice location since you're super close to bart and next to the shopping center. However, two blocks in the other direction and you're in the heart of the tenderloin with ellis street right there with the homeless people! Just stick on the right side near union square. Our stay was great we upgraded to a suite because the manager was able to lower the price down a bit and the room was nice with a beautiful view. Only thing was parking was a pain. The traffic. I am actually pretty disappointed in my stay... especially for the money it cost to stay there! It's in the tenderloin.. so walking outside is iffy. The hotel itself is very nice inside, however, It is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel but they put us in a room that WREAKED of cigarettes. (In their defense, they did switch us quickly after I complained). […] PARKING was $70 dollars a night..... And it takes about 45 min-1 hour to get your car back from the valet! So instead we spent MORE money on cabs to get anywhere. BREAKFAST buffet (I've actually seen better food at a Fresh Choice) was $35 per person (and they don't tell you the price, they just sit you). Last but not least, the beds were the most uncomfortable beds we have ever slept on. Old spring mattresses, no cushion, and flat pillows. My husband and I are still having back and neck pain from trying to sleep on those beds for 2 nights and so are the guests we had with us. This hotel is in the best location in San Francisco. The problem is they do not have free WiFi and for the price of the room, they should. Also, the ice machines do not work so the staff had to bring it. The elevators were extremely slow for the size of this hotel. Parc 55 has been my favorite for years. No more. They have eliminated room service so a guest cant lounge in the morning and have breakfast sent up. But they havent eliminated the high price for a room and prohibitively exorbitant cost to park. Our stay here was just okay. As a very frequent traveller, i really rely on room service at times. Upon check in i learned this hotel discontinured their room service in august. In turn i ordered food from a local thai place, and on my final bill i saw the hotel charged a $10 food delivery fee, even though it is not associated with the hotel. We loved the location. Our room was a little warm for comfort. Valet parking at the hotel was very expensive and everything was charged. No room service menu, so if you needed a little snack or drink you had to leave your room and go downstairs. The breakfast buffet was blah and also expensive.
