"Inn at Union Square tops expectations!"
Great little place - extremely quiet! Lovely late afternoon wines and cheeses; breakfast was fantastic and simple. Concierge enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We'll stay there again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful weekend getaway"
Great hotel. Great location. We enjoyed breakfast; coffee was good. Staff was very nice. Location was perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Extra little perks"
I very much enjoyed my 6-night stay at the Inn. While it is a smaller boutique inn, it provides high quality service with a smile. Having extra perks - like complimentary breakfast, water bottles, newspaper, wireless, evening cheese and crackers, all served joyfully - sets this place apart from others. I look forward to my next stay there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Inn at Union Square - an oasis of quiet"
I was in town to attend Macworld and wanted a small, clean, comfortable and quiet hotel/inn to recuperate away from the hustle and noise of the exhibition. The manager's evening reception and the continental breakfast were terrific.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Christmas At Union Square"
The Inn at Union Square is older and small however the staff is over the top when it comes to service. The eating area on each floor is small but adequate and they serve "Petes" coffee and have a nice continental breakfast. We were there for a family reuinion to celebrate Christmas with our older kids and had a wonderful time. Everyone liked the hotel […] and said they would go back. Even with you called the hotel they were extremely gracious on the phone and very helpful. We had stayed at the Handlary two months before and the staff, including the manager, were very rude and it was a terrible experience. Inn at Union Square was a 5 star experience. Our room was quiet. No view out windows so if that is your thing then this would not work for you. Not sure if any of the rooms have views but this is not unusual for SF. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location and Great Staff"
The Inn at Union Square is a hidden gem. I've probably walked by it about 25 times and never noticed it before. But it's worth finding it. It's right off of Union Square (on Post St. and Powell, basically), yet it's a peaceful oasis. The rooms are quiet (with perhaps the exception of the -01 rooms on each floor, which overlook Post) because they face […] onto a gap between buildings. That means there isn't a great view, but personally, I'd rather have a quiet room just steps from the city center. Breakfast is included, as is wireless internet access. I have to give a shout out to the incredible staff. They are all incredibly nice and helpful--and it seems like they are truly that way, not just faking it. Ann checked me in, and she set a great tone for the rest of my stay. I would recommend staying on floors 4 or 6 if you want it really quiet, because breakfast and wine are served on floors 3 and 5. And yes, I like it quiet. . . . Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A gem of a hotel"
Loved this hotel! Staff was very friendly, rooms were clean and they didn't try and nickel and dime you. No charge for internet or bottled water. Plus they have a great wine hour in the evening. Close to great restaurants and bars and the BART. Highly recommend this gem of a hotel!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice, small hotel."
The hotel is small, rooms are small, corridors are narrow, but it seems very well maintained, rooms are very clean, and very quiet. Don't expect a view from your room window, unless a view of a brick wall is appealling to you. The bed was extremely comfortable, the free wi-fi was great, the wine and cheese was amazing, and the continental breakfast […] was terrific. Plus, all of the staff were very, very friendly. The self-parking was a bit of a hassle, as it's located around the block, but otherwise I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I had business in the San Francisco area. "Our absolute favorite in San Francisco!"
This was our fourth stay at the Inn at Union Square. We had previously stayed at the St. Francis and the Fairmont, but we like this hotel much better. It is a small, boutique hotel and you feel the difference from the time you check in until you leave. This is an old line hotel built in the early 1900's and although it is well maintained, if you are […] looking for sleek and modern, this hotel is not for you. If you like a small, intimate feel, you will love this hotel. When we got to our room, they called to make sure we were happy. In this case, the room we got was not as nice as the one we had last time, so we asked if there was another room available. There was one and they changed us right away. They called again to be sure it was what we wanted. They also called before we left to see if we needed transportation to the airport. They provide a really nice cold breakfast buffet in the morning and a wine, cheese, fruit and crackers snack at 5:30 in the afternoon.. What more could you ask for! Note: The first time we stayed, we got the cheapest room. I would not recommend it because it was really tiny and the bathroom was so small there was no place to put your toiletries. For a few more dollars, go for the larger rooms. They are well worth the difference in price. Prices for the hotel vary a lot so keep checking until you get a rate that seems fair. We got an Expedia package and the price was very good. This is the only hotel for us in SF! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel room is small but it's close to Bart (5 blocks away), it has a safe inside the room, it had a good wi-fi connection in the room, it does have a breakfast and it's real close to the mall. we spend two nights in the Inn. Great location. Very friendly staff. After a day of riding our bikes we were welcomed back by the owner and he invited us for the daily wine tasting. "Great service & good location, but bed a bit soft"
Everyone at the hotel went out of their way to be helpful--I have no complaints concerning service whatsoever. Front desk staff Ann and Omar were very helpful. The location is great for visiting San Francisco, just be aware the the nearby Tenderloin is a bit sketchy at night. We were in the Tenderloin at night (for some Pakistani food) but with a big […] group and felt safe enough. It's much cheaper to park at one of the nearby parking garages than to valet. We paid $18 for overnight parking a couple of blocks away from the hotel on a weekday whereas the hotel rate would have been $32 that particular evening. My only complaint is concerning room comfort: the bed was altogether too soft, almost like sinking into a waterbed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Staff was extremely polite and helpful. Rooms nice and were quiet as we were at the rear of the hotel away from the street. Comfortable beds. Free breakfast was outstanding. "Charming Union Square Hotel"
Small and friendly...perfect for a long weekend. Convenient to restaurants, shopping, cablecars, Chinatown, and all that the Union Square area has to offer. Nicely appointed rooms with many extras (robes, bottled water, conntinental breakfast, and evening wine/cheese reception.) "A Little Gem In A Big City"
This is by far one of the best hotels I have ever been to. The location is in Union Square which is pretty much close to anything and everything. Just a few blocks away from Chinatown, right in the heart of shopping, and close to the Bart and Cable Car. We walked everywhere! The hotel was clean and we got upgraded when the room we wanted wasn't available. […] The room was clean and a nice size. There is also a business center. There is only one computer but it has a printer if needed. There is a continental breakfast in the morning. It was a decent morning starter. There wasn't anything that was too heavy . I loved the almond croissant! In the evening, there is complimentary wine and cheese. It was all very nice. Overall, the staff was wonderful. They were welcoming and all about customer service. Not a single person there was unpleasant. Now to my favorite part of the hotel, ANN! My goodness she is wonderful! She had great tips and knew the best ways on how to get us around the town. She was always happy and had such great energy. The only con that I would have for this hotel is the elevator. Sloowww and tiny. We took the stairs the majority of the time. "Inn at Union Square-Great location, friendly staff"
The hotel's location is <1 block from Union Square's shopping and restaurants. A cable car stop is also <1 block away. Rooms are very clean and spacious (considering you're in the middle of a large city). The rooms do not offer views, but are extremely quiet. A continental breakfast is offered on floors 3 & 5 each morning and includes: coffee, tea, […] homemade granola, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, and assorted pastries/muffins. Hotel staff, from front desk welcome to housekeeping, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. "A little gem..."
The Inn at Union Square is a little gem located right near the Union Square, shopping district, and public transport. All the staff are warm and friendly and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. They are happy to adfvise you on what to see and do or look up any information you may need for transport or that special meal. Our room was […] extremely comfortable, tv, free wifi, complimentary water and chocolates, & Aveda bathroom products. The queen bed was a little small & the size of the room smaller than your average hotel room but this is San Francisco. All rooms are compact due to the nature of the cities architecture. The decor was truely gorgeous, very tudor in style, and gave you the feeling of grandure. The business centre was on level 2 with a pc, printer and tourist information. Breakfast was served each morning on levels 3 & 5. A full spread, fruit, bagels, toast, cereal, eggs, pastries, coffee and juice. You can eat either at the table on each level by the fireplace, or take it back to your room on the trays provided. Every night there also was free wine and cheese nights, a wonderful way to share your experienes with fellow guests. Overall a great place to stay, good location, exceptional value for money , & most importantly staffed by a caring group of people. We would stay there again, without a doubt ! Everything I look for in a small, historic boutique hotel...and more! Outstanding service...Ann, Omar and everyone we came in contact with really seemed to love taking care of guests. "Perfect!"
After a grueling 18 hours of traveling due to multiple flight delays, I was surprised to find some of the best customer service that I've ever encountered upon checking into this hotel. David from the front desk met me outside when I finally arrived in the middle of the night, helped me with my luggage, and made me feel totally at home. He and Ann do […] a phenomenal job - and coming from the service industry myself, I have high standards and it's rare that I give such praise. I was in town for business, but they took the time to highlight maps for me to help me find my way around. The rooms were impeccably clean, the beds were comfy, the location was ideal, and I would return here again and again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very nice small hotel"
I enjoyed my short stay. Desk people very friendly. Room was small but lovely; original art on the wall. conveniently located in the heart of San Francisco's upscale shopping district is a lovely boutique hotel. In traveling around the world, I often stay at 5-star chain hotels but am occasionally venturous and find a boutique hotel. "Great location"
The location of the Inn at Union Square couldn't be better. It was easy walking distance to everything we wanted to do or to transportation that would get us there. We bought 3-day Muni passes, and they were definitely worth it. Our room was small, so that we had to coordinate our movements around the foot of the bed, but it was clean and comfortable. […] The sitting parlors on each floor, where the breakfasts and happy hours are held, are wonderful places to sit and read, as well. Though there is only one table and a few chairs, it was generally enough, as people also used trays to take coffee and food back to their rooms. I would definitely stay there again, but might consider upgrading to a suite. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great little boutique hotel right at Union Square"
What really made this hotel special was how genuine the frendliness felt. A nice little hotel with a great location.
